Review Love From India - Burwood

Great for Indian food take aways, not so great for dining in. The food quality consistency could be better. There are times when I've loved it and times when I felt like - what the hell!! So, on your lucky day this place might be a good choice. Good luck.

This place is quite new. Previously it was owned by different people. Now it's called Spice Nation. The food is great! If you want to have a taste of genuine Indian cuisine do try this place. They have a variety of options available from lamb, chicken and also vegetarian food. The people here are warm and welcoming. Service is pretty decent. All i can say is just go and have a look, you won't regret it. Try the 'Naan' 'tandoori chicken' or the good old fashioned biryani! For vegetarians out there you can order 'chole' and 'samosas' and a lot more!

FINALLY an indian restaurant that serves indian SPICY (n they mean it) chicken vindaloo! So happy! Very good food if u want the level of spicy indian mom use. Its my regular go to when i miss home.Only problem i have is the amount of oil and the packaging of curries for deliveries as it tends to drip out.

Food is extremely delicious. No other restaurant can beat the taste of Palak Paneer, Asmani Kofta, and Samosa. Service is also extremely good. Like I always order take away dinner pack 1 and guys there will customize the pack according to my needs without overcharging. Also price-wise it's so reasonable. You can feed 3-4 people easily from $42. Somehow the taste is bit inconsistent. Last time we order mix pakoras and it was not properly cooked. Something to have a look Chef! But overall it's good. And I would definitely recommend Love from India to anyone who want authentic Indian food.

Great authentic indian cuisine. We came here from my Grandmothers Birthday and were treated exceptionally well by the staff. The curries were to die for. This is a great restaurant that serves food at great prices.

According to Google the restaurant closes at 11pm and according to their own menu it closes at 10.30pm. I went in at 10.05pm and was told very rudely "no more" meaning we are closed and cannot take any more orders. Very rude and very unprofessional. Very unimpressed. If you cannot take any more orders why say you close at 11pm on google and at 10.30pm on your menu and why have the door open???

Good quality Indian food at a very reasonable price. Cooked well and prepared in a neat and clean environment. Friendly staff!!

Went to this restaurant twice over the last three days and I can honestly say not one item that we ordered dissapointed , one of the best places to visit in Melbourne for authentic Indian food!

The worst experience I had for takeaway from any place. The food was bad. Bad service. Don't listen to the orders properly and when we tried to inform them for the short come, they started arguing. Would not recommend this to anyone.

I went to here for lunch today but didn't get to eat as it was close. Is this place still open or permanently close??? It was very disappointed.

Came in with low expectations given the mixed reviews. Gotta say was pretty damn impressed. Vindaloo was nice and spicy and good flavour as was the British chicken (probably more like a spicy butter chicken. Naans were fluffy and samosas were crisp and home made. Yes will definitely be back.

Dinner date with my gfs, we were in the Burwood/Warrigal rd and decided to eat indian as the smell literally tantalised the air- it was powerful, you could smell curry from the opposite side of the road and up the road. Between us we ordered; lamb vindaloo, chicken biriyani, potato and pea curry and garlic naan.<br/>(-) The place looked shabby and was very small -12-14 seating, i'd recommend to quickly book.<br/>(+) indoor/outdoor seating<br/>(+) If you dont mind, or prefer, to take away, there are great pick up or delivery deals (see menu).<br/>(+) vegetable and lamb somosas was bomb and came with mint and tamarind sauce.<br/>(+) garlic naan was fluffy and a bit chard- from the tandoor oven.<br/>(+) vindaloo was so damn delicious, we ordered extra hot.<br/>(+) biriyani was packed with flavour!<br/>(-...+!) potato and pea curry wasnt special at first, the potatoes tasted water-logged but as the dish cooled down, the potatoes became more starchy- this is a good thing!<br/>(+) server asked how our meals were, quality assurance check.<br/><br/>No dancing around it, the place is an eye sore but the food spoke volumes! Honestly do recommend, hope your experience is as good as mine! Cheers.<br/><br/>

It would've been 3.5 if the samosas weren't so laden with oil. They were flavourful, if you could ignore the grease. The mint and tamarind chutneys were acceptable as was the raita. My daughter enjoyed her butter chicken and I know people say it tastes like tomato soup. I would have said that too, except today I opened a can of Heinz tomato soup and they do taste different. Massively so, with a one on one comparison (if they're reading this saying "haha", I'll feel like a fool!!). I think it's a decent filling meal for 3, with enough leftovers (bonus!) for tomorrow nights dinner. My little miss would give it 5😊<br/> <br/><br/>Edit - and the leftovers tonight were great, add a chicken thigh, cup of rice - dinner done🤗

This place used to be amazing, with the food some of the best Indian I've eaten in Melbourne. Now it's still decent, but the quality of food has dropped from it's high perch. It feels like it's changed hands recently. I ordered some food online (my regular way of ordering), and when I turned up, they said they hadn't received the order (despite me getting confirmation that they had). So had to re-order and wait for it to be cooked. There were a number of people waiting that night, and a gentleman eating in (who was waiting when I got there), only just got his food as I was leaving. It felt like they are understaffed. Would still go back, back any more 'issues', and I'll probably drop it.

Always get our takeaway from here. Fast service and great Indian food that is well priced. Garlic Naan bread is fantastic and the kids love the Butter Chicken and British Chicken Tikka. Wouldn't dine in here as the interior is a bit run down however it's a great place for takeaway.

Love the curry here. If you want Spicy they can do. Seems very traditional and authentic. Well priced and super tasty. Don't like the minim $40 takeaway amount but the food is great.

The worst Indian I have ever had - no exaggeration. <br/>Butter chicken tasted like water and tomato soup. <br/>Rogan Josh and Lamb Korma were also rubbish quality and tasting bland. <br/>Garlic Naan was oil coated dough with a lump of garlic in the middle. <br/>Coconut and Lemon rice was plain tasteless rice with water pooled in the bottom. <br/><br/>It was just gross, new to the area and disappointed that my local Indian is a joke.

I haven't been for a few years, and back then it was bustling. Owners have changed definitely like last poster said. Food not good, briyani very salty and butter chicken lacked flavour. Disappointing for what use to be the best indian in there neighbourhood. Review consistent with recent posters<br/>

It's alright. Not great food. I choose this just because this is the only better indian restaurant nearby. However, they treat customers very well.

Service was lovey, the food was a disappointment, very oily and lacked flavour. Mango laksi was excellent. All the mains where more gravy than food. It used to be excellent.

Has this place changed ownership? <br/>Have been going here for 5 years and had to be in the top Indian takeaways in Melb. Went back tonight for the first time in 8 months (was a weekly customer) and it was horrid. The butter chicken which normally is phenomenal had no depth or real spices to it, in fact it was like they had poured a cheap tin of tomato soup over some random pieces of chicken. The naan must have shrunk when heated as it was the size of my palm.<br/>Anyway if someone can advise if it's changed hands, if so won't be ever back again, however if not will attempt to give my favourite Indian takeaway one last chance

Best Indian takeaway in the area and at a great price. Delivery is prompt and pickup is always ready when I walk in. We like a variety of heat in our food and they are always accurate with their spice.

Dreadful food not reccomended. Had heard a lot about this place, but was very disappointed. Roganjosh was watery, butter chicken was too sweet could not eat at all. Aloo matar paneer was very bitter. Naans were very dry it was like paprdum. Rice and samosas were good. Not reccomended at all. I think yhis place has changed hands, not like what I had heard. Never ever going back to this small take way shop.

Great food and such lovely service. Beware though, spicy is indeed very spicy! Lucky we had some yummy naan to cut through the heat

Tasty and great service. The service at Love From India is excellent and the food is very tasty. I would definitely recommend them for an inexpensive, fast, tasty meal.

Top Takeaway!. Fantastic Indian food, one of the best I've had in Australia. Their British style tikka masala was full of flavour, beautiful sauce and chunky vegetables. We'll be back for more.
WineWonker
This is the best Indian food I have had in Melbourne. The British Chicken Tikka Massala was cooked to perfection only narrowly beating the Lamb Rogan Josh. These guys are the real deal. Good value too!

Damn Good Indian. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, being a local. Finally did and glad I chose this place. Pretty damn tasty. Well worth it!!

Gr8. This little takeaway cum dinein shop is very fascinating. Its colours are eye catching. Now talking about the food we were 4 of us and we ordered 4 different curries and trust me it was so yummy. Their tak a tak was awesome and their chilli chicken was amazing. Butter chicken was good too. Friendly staff and their chef's are friendly too. Waitstaff very friendly, overall a clean place and highly recommended to all who enjoy curries.

Disgusting. Maybe the place has changed hands since I went there.<br/>Filthy place, every bit of food was cold, tasteless and most of it not properly cooked, the guy behind the counter could'nt have cared less, rude & obviously didn't want to be there.<br/>The floor was filthy & looked like it hadn't been cleaned "Ever"<br/>Horrible place, I only visited once but never again.<br/>I would advise anyone who like great indian food to definately stay away from this place because of the lack of hygene and the uncooked food Im surprised no-one has got food poisoning.<br/><br/>Avoid at all costs

Best vindaloo ever.
Vanessa Tredrea
Good service, great garlic naan, terrible butter chicken. Watery, flavourless, and slightly plasticky tasting with cartilage filled chicken. Give it a miss.

The smell of the India restaurant always keeps me away from Indian food. This litter restaurant doesn't have the bad smell and the food is very nice!!! It surprised me a lot! Completed the dining experience with great service!!! You could really feel their passionate about their work and food. Highly recommend to every one!!

A local institution. Been coming here for years. Great place - looks like a small takeaway outlet but in fact its BYO as well with about six tables you can dine in at. Very friendly owner and staff, good service and lots of cheap tasty curries including goat curries and tak tak.
Ian Laking
Not bad for curries. Have tried their butter chicken and chicken tikka masala - both were about a 7/10.
Vanessa Klima
Amazing food, best garlic naan, very friendly owner
