First time in Byron with a girlfriend and no family! first stop-Beach resturant. Not dissapointed. The favourite dish was the foccaccia fried bread with truffle beef carpacio and chocolate fondant . Slightly on the overpriced side but I'm guessing we're paying for the view. Great wine choices-the sparkling rose by the glass is a hit. Good service, however they failed to let us know about the specials on the day.

We had a really great time here for dinner. Service was awesome, beautiful view, yummy dinner and wine and cocktails. Went for my birthday with my parents and partner. We shared a whole lot of starters and had a main each. Really decent sized portions. Will be back!

7/5 On a perfect day we were a walk-in and Damien could not have been more welcoming. Yes of course I’m terribly sorry he said all the front tables are booked but have this one! Perfect! Shaded and Cool looking straight NNE to the Solomons. Almost flying fish weather still two months from spring but beautiful. A snappy few campari with soda then coffin bay oysters and the chat potatoes waiting for mains..the place was buzzing and pleasantly designed, renovated and old modern. Beach bar meets verandah meets pavilion and accessible for just a coffee through to full meals. The roast pumpkin agnolotti in a burnt butter with Cavolo nero. I’m guessing it was blue pumpkin because it roasted up beautifully. Squid’s ink spaghetti and cuttlefish were exquisite. The best was the lightly fried gnocchi with osso bucco. A radicchio walnut salad to lift the palate. Perfectly sized portions house made pasta and a quick and engaging service. Thanks Damian and Jess. You are, with respect worthy custodians of possibly the number one dune set cafe on the easterly edge of carrier Australia. In the hothouse of fresh food and excellent cuisine that is Byron Bay and surrounds Beach has the position, the service, and the cuisine, and clearly love their work.

We went for dinner on a night when a monster storm rolled through, which obviously provided some additional work for the staff. The place is pricey ($240 for 2, with a mid-priced wine and public holiday surcharge). As noted by other reviewers, the view is absolutely stunning.

The menu is solid: narrow range weighted to seafood, which is why we picked it. The wine list is really well put together, great choice of beers and cocktails, and a great range of sensibly priced wines $50 a $250. It also had a nice range of vermouth etc, more on that later.

We had an Ochota Barrels Riesling (very nice accompaniment to the food). Entrees we had the raw fish (tuna) and burrata: fish was good; but the produce used in the burrata was poor - awful cheese and tasteless tomatoes, with 2 basil leaves. Both our mains were excellent: snapper with zucchini and pea salad, and mahi-mahi with tomato and almonds. The potato salad was actually pretty good, but probably not what we were expecting (I just thought posh chips). The tiramisu was great, just a classic like mum used to make.

I will tackle service in 2 parts. Firstly, we were put next to a couple of large tables with kids - they were horrible - whining or on devices with the volume blaring - if I was at the Byron hotel, fair enough, but this is not “fine dining”. However, unsure what the owners can do about this.

Secondly, the service overall is a bit shit. We got nothing, then water and an explanation of specials, then nothing, then wine and entrees (because Nikolina thought they might not come back), then we ordered mains, ordered dessert straight after mains on the same theory. I got the wine list but gave up on the after dinner drink. Their Italian friends got the seat at the front and good service, until they got forgotten, but I had run out of sympathy by then. Everyone was serving their own wine. Either just not enough staff, or badly organised.

Booked a group lunch for 7pax here based on our last experience 3 years ago, which was amazing. I've read some of the mixed reviews below so went in with an open mind and palate.
Well it was spot on! Our waitress was super lovely, she ensured we all had drinks throughout stay and was just a lovely girl.
For entrees there was a mixture of Byron Bay Burrata, Pasta with Sausage rage, Oysters ordered. All where were fabulous. For main I had the grilled prawns (with butter, tarragon and tomatoes) while some of the others ordered salmon cutlet, and FOD which was swordfish. Everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly. And agreed this was the best meal of our 4 night trip! Would highly recommend this place for a lovely setting overlooking Clarkes Beach and some delicious food.

Had a lovely dinner in this gorgeous place with beautiful ocean views. The service was super friendly and added to our experience. The food was good though the location is really what makes it special.

Delicious takeaway coffee and juices. I thoroughly enjoyed my watermelon apple and cucumber juice from here! I was also greeted with warm smiles and happy service.

Needless to say, who does not understand the quality, or no one has ever try it is not able to judge. It is really a shame to read these negative reviews (of course partly made by competitors). I'm Italian, I worked in restaurants in my country, I love the food, the wines and I know what quality is. I live in Byron Bay for a while and I go out to dinner very rarely because I could not find a restaurant that is worth. I heard about a new Head Chef recently arrived at Beach, and because his reputation preceded him, I went to celebrate my birthday. A solar Brazilian waiter greeted us and seated, David Lovett (the Head Chef) came to greet us and tell us a little bit of local products he uses to create its excellent cuisine, needless to say immediately we saw his passion. Of all the dishes we ordered the shrimp butter were to scream, the revisiting of bagna caoda (Italian dish of my region), which is quite delicate than the original version and adapted to the wonderful season, and aged beef ... ..OMG! I can only say that when they brought the bread made in a wood fire oven to make the slipper into the sauce of shrimp I wanted to cry ... I felt ... at home ... and if you are a meat lover, even if there is not in menu, ask for it ... finished eating it you will continue to smell the pot, so perfumed that will remind you wine and cheese ... the dishes created by David does not claim to be nothing but themselves, each element which composes his dishes is enhanced by maintaining the balance between the flavors without one prevails over the other, good food is a simple kitchen, humble and passionate, as the Chef I had the pleasure of knowing.

Nice venue with views of the ocean, friendly staff who were attentive. Went here for a lunch function. Canapés were tasty especially the beef tartare which was the highlight!

Last night we had the best fish we have ever had in our lives (oven baked whole snapper with beautiful tomatoes, olives and capers) and also the best tiramisu (beautiful fresh espresso flavour, not at all sweet). Service was also great.

The food at Byron Beach Cafe was delicious but very, very expensive. We ordered two dishes, spaghetti on toast and sardines on toast. Each plate cost 18.00 but there wasn't much on each plate.

Spaghetti on toast = a single slice of toasted white bread topped with home-made spaghetti (not canned) and sprinkled with parmesan cheese.

Sardines on toast = a few sardines cooked inside the original can with tomato sauce and served with two thin slices of toasted ciabatta bread and a very small mound of green salad with capers.

The cafe itself and surroundings are INCREDIBLE and I can only imagine the overheads on a location like that must be through the roof. Conclusion -- you're paying for the view.

Had breakfast here on our first trip to Byron.
Nice friendly and helpful staff.

Delicious food and coffee!

Meals were on the pricey side but with the view of the beach that we had I would say we underpaid.

BigTfood gives it a 7 screaming orgasms out of 10.

Highly recomend.

Views make it worth a stop. Coffee was good but not best in Byron. Breakfast was good but again not the best. Baked eggs very cheesy which suited me but may be overwhelming for others. Like the smoothy and juice options as nice and fresh.

This place never fails to impress me. Fantastic service. The exceptional manager is very hands on and ensures the restaurant runs at top service at all times for those who expect the very best, you won't be disappointed. Salmon gravlax with corn fritters is a must for breaky, not the mention the best view in town. Highly recommend for a special breakfast.

An absolute magic setting especially if you get a seat outside overlooking the beach. The seafood was some of the best I have ever had. Beer battered fish was so fresh it was unbelievable and the fat hand cut chips with chilli salt were 10/10. My partners crispy skin barra was straight from the top shelf

Came back and it was just as good. Burata and prawn entree with the ragu pasta all exceptional

BOOM! With a View.... "Boom" went my daughter's glass as it hit the floor and spilt drink everywhere. The waitresses were quick to come over, clean it up, diffuse the situation and tell us it was no probs.
The layout of the cafe is nice with a lovely view.
The food was nice but it was a very long wait and a fish and chips lunch for two adult and a child was $85...pricey...

Spectacular. Enjoyed amazing food and outstanding service. Location is divine with uninterrupted views of the beach. Staff, although very busy, were helpful, knowledgable and friendly. The food was excellent. Every dish bought to our table looked incredibly well presented and mine tasted wonderful. I had the pork belly and it was, by far, the best I have ever had.

Wedding. Have just attended the wedding of my niece on an unfortunately rainy day.

Venue looked stunning, staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. NOTHING was too much trouble.

They also continually walked guests from the car park to the Cafe supplying shelter to guest in the pouring rain.

Food was stunning, can't thank the staff enough for the way day went off.

The beach wedding didn't happen but it didn't matter in the end.

Thank you all for a well run event.

Best in Byron. For 12 years my partner and I have been running a busy guesthouse in Byron. We've seen a lot of restaurants and cafe's come and go. We've also seen some start out good only to slowly become ordinary or inconsistent.
However the Byron Beach Cafe has been getting better and better for the last 5 years and we can say (hand on heart) it is the BEST place (hands down) in Byron. We go there regularly but the reason we started going was we had so many guests raving to us about it. We did have a couple of issues with cranky staff (when they're busy) but that was a couple of years ago (they've gone now). But in the last 12-18mths we haven't had or heard one bad word. And this is from lots of visits.
So when a guest told me today about the post on Urbanspoon slamming the Beach cafe for bad service or not letting people sit on the deck to have coffee, I felt compelled to write my first ever restaurant review. While this might have been true I would say "Go Back and try again" because this is the polar opposite of what we've found and what hundreds and hundreds of our guests have said to us over the last few years. And if anyone can tell me a better cafe between here and Sydney I'd love to know about it.
Good work Amanda, Lara and all the team we KNOW how much you care and what a great job you do!

Bliss. We wandered along the beach and found the BBCafe perched almost in the sand. Fabulous lunch, popping freshness, best coffee in Byron and relaxed yet smart service all delivered with a stunning smile. Thinking we had just got there on a 'good' day, we returned the next day and the food and service was even better, if possible. The cafe has a buzz but is also such a soothing experience and the best place for people watching as it overlooks the beach and its myriad of activity. This is definitely one of the best dining experiences we have had on our many trips to Byron and can't wait to come back for a twilight supper soon. Keep doing what you are doing, guys. Perfect.

Greg Anderson. My wife and I came to Byron for a short stay from Sydney and couldn't believe how fantastic Byron Beach Cafe was. For a regional location we were amazed how sophisticated the menu was and how professional and attentive the staff were. I had the corned beef hash with fried egg and bearnaise sauce for breakfast which was even better than the one our mum made us as kids. My wife had some really interesting beetroot pancakes with goats curd and blood orange sauce. Coffees excellent, view to die for, totally relaxed and completely looked after. I've read a couple of reviews moaning about the prices at this place but believe me it's great value compared to what we pay in Sydney and given how much food costs in the local Woolies I'd say they were paying the same prices as everyone else in NSW. We went back for lunch the next day, same deal, amazing. We'll definitely return next summer to give the dinners a go.

Fun, sun and great food. I took my mum here for lunch last week and was blown away. I hadn't been for a couple of years after getting good food but disappointing service (not bad but not friendly) back then. However I am kicking myself now as I have been missing out. Lunch with mum was FANTASTIC and to be sure it wasn't a one off, I've been back for breakfast once with a mate and took some friends this weekend. Each time the food was great and thankfully the service is excellent. I'm fussy and cynical but I can't fault the place and have to say it is hands down the best in Byron. Well done you guys and PLEASE keep it up!

The best breakfast in town! And what a view. My partner and I had one of the best breakfasts we've ever had last weekend at the Byron Beach Cafe. And what a view! This is the only place in Byron where you get an unobstructed view of the beach and mountains. Amazing. The staff were great and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. This is a must do if in Byron!

Nestled in the dunes with a breathtaking view of Clarkes Beach is the Byron Beach Cafe. From the cafe’s vantage point overlooking this popular surf break, diners can sit on the long verandah and watch the early morning surfers vi for a wave at breakfast. Byron Beach Cafe Equally as lovely is the sunset view we experienced. Relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the evening sunset with a delicious meal, what could be more romantic? Clarkes Beach Surf Break The Byron Beach Cafe has a motto, “Cafe Simplicity Restaurant Style.” This statement captures the atmosphere and the quality of the food perfectly.
