For the amount we spend feeding people at weddings, it's hard to understand why function food is generally so bland and disappointing. Surely, in multicultural Sydney, we can do better than alternate plates of tepid chicken and beef? The re-imagined Silver Pearl in Cabramatta set a new wedding benchmark for me last week, when, along with four hundred guests including Fairfield City Council Mayor, Frank Carbone, I got treated to a peek at what this renovated function space can do. This place is typically associated as a wedding reception venue, but i came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered: deep fried garlic roast chicken, king prawn with spicy salt, deep fried flounder with salt and Chinese broccoli with dried fish. All dishes were great but the highlight was the flounder's crispy batter perfectly encasing the lovely texture of the flesh, although completely deep fried it was overly heavy and goes so well with rice. The mix of Italian and Vietnamese background wedding, they chose the Silver Pearl for their reception best choice they may made.
With Hahn leading a wonderful team. She is an exceptional venue coordinator and fun host who ensured the night went smoothly and stress free.
I would recommend the Silver Pearl for any function. Compliments on the food and service which our guests also complimented on. Shout out to your exceptional team.
It was a night we won't be forgetting for a long time, we had such a great time.
