Delicious food, fast service, reasonably priced.... the sea food spring rolls are to die for, as is the pho soup and the crispy chicken with sesame sauce.... a new fave restaurant!!!
One of my favorite places in 2166 area. The food is very close to SGN flavor. Not many others around like it. Most places have slightly changed their recipes for the 'western' customer. Not this place! It's great!
Love this place food is always very good and the staff are always very helpful
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. They have always looked after my family upon EVERY visit. Reading the previous reviews makes me sad. It is clearly obvious that there was a careless waitress of whom was over her job/life and took it out on the customer (being the child.) It is an unfortunate and isolated incident of which Is certainly NOT a regular occurance at this restaurant. If it were, this business would not be thriving. Please give this family business another chance and see past the horrible waitress that spoiled yor experience.
Great food at low prices. 19 people at our table for a family birthday lunch. Every single person loved their meals. Fast service. Attentive service. Recommended.
Best Vietnamese food I have EVER had! :-)
We were treated wonderfully by each and every staff member from the moment we walked in the door and they were more than happy to help with any requests that were made. This was my first time here, being recommended as a place to eat but it definitely won't be the last! :-)
If you want beautiful fresh authentic Vietnamese food and fantastic service then this is the place.
My go to restaurant when I’m craving some com tam bi suong Cha (combination rice/broken rice with pork chop)- it really reminds me of the ones they serve in Vietnam! The pork chop is very succulent and well marinated, the piece of Cha is full of flavour and all the other accompaniments to the dish work really well together. Have yet to try the other dishes but would highly recommend this one 😍
YUM, YUM, YUMMMM! Pho was full of flavours, broth was hot, servings sizes were generous & the restaurant was very clean and organised, the staff were attentive and quick. Mum found her lettuces weren’t washed but that was quickly replaced by a new batch! Definitely going to come back when I’m back in Sydney :)
Bai Truong is one of the best Vietnamese restaurant so far in cabbramatta, they provide a authentic experience with their dishes and their staff. There was a lot of flavour in each dish except for spring roll which was pretty disappointed. The staff was friendly, they didn't speak English but they are kind enough to explain what the dishes were and it was busy.
Been here a million times. This is one of the only places you can get every type of Viet dish available - from noodles to rice, to hot pot, stir fries, veg dishes, papaya/goi/morning glory salads, rice paper rolls and even mud crab.
They do a decent job of every dish too. Most places only specialise in a particular item.
The food at Bau Truong Cabramatta is consistently good and the menu is pretty extensive; I've been a regular ever since it opened. Some of my favourites are the vermicelli salad with beef wrapped in wild pepper leaf, the vermicelli salad with taro and prawn cakes, crispy seafood noodles, durian smoothie, Vietnamese iced coffee, and the beef salad served with prawn crackers. My daughter goes for the crispy chicken with tomato rice. One caveat I've found is that the service can be uneven especially if the boss isn't around; as a matter of fact the last time I went, the waitress wouldn't let me sit at a table for four for no apparent reason - the restaurant was practically empty - and which I needed to do because I have a severely disabled child who needs assistance so I HAVE to sit next to and not across from him. I walked out and ate somewhere else instead, and frankly I haven't been back since.
A decent place to go to when you want good Vietnamese cuisine. They have a huge variety of options to choose from, ranging from fried rice, to stir fried noodles, soups, curry and much more. We ordered the stir fried noodles, fried rice and one of their soup dishes. Service is ok! Price range is decent. There is a good amount of seating.
A venue for family types for dinner. Suitable for all ages. Their menu is reasonably set with specialities for seafood and asian dishes with meats and vegetables.
Undisputedly one of the best restaurants in Sydney for com tam (Vietnamese BBQ pork chop). My personal favourite is actually their com ga dac biet (BBQ chicken special). The chicken is nice and tender and the sweet smoky flavour is amaazing together with the fried egg and pork floss.
When friends come to Cabramatta for the first time this is one of the places I usually recommend.
Excellent pork chop and rice. Has good variety - all the Vietnamese classics you could want. I would recommend the spring rolls as a starter to share. Have come back multiple times
Good. Worth trying if you are in the area.
Their pork chop is good.
I can’t remember the food on the photo, but it was good. I think it’s prawn DIY. I enjoyed it
I love this place so much, we make effort to come here once a month. Goat Curry with charcoal Breadrolls is mind blowingly good.
Spring rolls and wrap rolls are so devine, fresh and flavoursome.
Don't often have Vietnamese food but taken here by friend who recommended the bbq pork chop and rice. Pretty big dish for $13. Lots of flavour in pork which was cooked well. Was given a bowl of sauce to add to rice/ dish. Loved the extra kick of flavour. Food came quick.
Walked past Bau Truong tonight expecting it to be packed to the rafters, however, it was surprisingly empty. So I decided to try it. We ordered special pork chop, some soup noodles and jellyfish salad. The jelly fish salad was quite impressive. Came out looking fresh and vibrant and it was tasty. I was disappointed with the pork chip. It looked overcooked and the portion size was small.
Great food, but everything is a little sweet.
I ordered the Bun Rieu which is a tomato based soup with vermicelli noodles. that was quite good.
My mrs ordered the special broken rice. The first bite was great, the pork chop had a lot of flavour, however, mid way through it got a bit sickening because the pork chop was too sweet.
Really great portions and value for money!
We ordered the taro and pork spring rolls which were incredible, along with the crispy chicken and combination fried rice!
Staff were very friendly! Will definitely go back :)
Always have my lunch here if I visit cabra. Like the curry duck soup and curry goat soup. Meat very soft and melt in your mouth. Tried kang kong soup today and soup is clear and taste delicate. Egg fried with crab paste, it is a new thing for me. I do not like the paste but is a good try for other who is interested. Portions getting small now.
My boyfriend and I planned a food day to Cabramatta for his family from overseas. We had already taken them for pho closer to home, so they wanted to try something different. We settled on Bau Truong as the menu looked promising and had plenty of variety.
We eventually set on ordering the Taro and Pork Spring Rolls, Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese pancake) & Bánh Tap Thit Nuóng (BBQ Pork, Prawn Cracker & Rice Rolls), Fried Combination Rice & Pipi, Chive and Tofu soup.
The serving sizes also came out as pretty generous and we were all pretty full after the meal. We all particularly enjoyed the taro spring rolls, bánh tap thit nuón and the pipi soup. The rice was standard for your typical chinese/asian restaurant and the bánh xèo was pretty decent but I have had better in other Vietnamese restaurants.
Overall a really decent restaurant in Cabra, and would come again to try more dishes in the future.
Also, their toilets are pretty clean which was nice!
Authentic Vietnamese cuisine, spacious interior, and lots of dishes to choose from.
Very very quick service - 5min for all 3 dishes - insanely quick!
Had taro spring rolls for entrees, and DIY rice paper roll with grilled beef + diced beef with tomato rice as mains. Generous serving size for a decent price. Thank you for a very homely meal.
A Cabramatta favourite, especially if you have a larger group. The place is always busy which is a good sign, however can get quite noisy.
The menu is quite large and we have yet to have a dish that disappoints. Some meats are cooked on charcoal which adds a mice taste. Recommended

Was hesistant to try this place out cause i always go to tan viet everytime k visited cabra! But im glad i took the risk and did try this place out. The broth of the pho is so rich and flavourful! Even my hubby who wasnt a fan of viet food loves the pho!!
Big portions!! YAYY!!
Good customer service and the food came out quick, double yayy!
Egg noodle was great and the crispy chicken was cooked well, nice and crunchy (not dry). This restuarant offers a wide range of meals so if you're not sure what to order don't worry because there's ALOT to pick from. Only downside was I didn't see a dessert/drinks menu included in it. TBH the egg noodle + chicken didn't have much of a burst of flavour but if you're going for simple order this~
Extensive menu, we couldn't decide and asked the waitress for recommendations. The food was good but didn't seem worth the price. Casual setting and I liked the tinted windows. Found free parking near the station so that was a bonus. Will revisit eventually but there are plenty of other more reasonably priced restaurants in Cabramatta.
We always dine at Bau Truong Cabramatta or Canley Vale as our little local. Today we ordered the prawn rice paper rolls, sizzling beef, lemongrass and chilli chicken with a side of tomato rice. The rice paper rolls were fresh and the sauce sweet and smooth with a perfect amount of peanuts. Unfortunately the sizzling beef wasn't so much sizzling. It was hot and on a hot plate but the plate wasn't hot enough to give it the sizzle. On the other hand, it was very rich but a little on the oily side. The lemongrass and chilli chicken was great, perfect amount of favour and not too saucy. The tomato rice was hot and fluffy.
This is one of my favourite restaurants for lunch when we are in Cabramatta. They serve authentic Vietnamese dishes and my favourites are their grilled venison vermicelli salad and DIY prawn paste on sugarcane with vermicelli wrap. However, most dishes on their menu that my wife & I have tried are ok - good, nothing bad :)
Service was quick & always friendly every time I was there.
Bay Truong is a consistently busy restaurant in Cabramatta. Like many of the restaurants in this suburb, service is lackluster and brusque but you don't come here for the service. The Vietnamese sweet and sour soup came as a huge silver bowl balanced on a portable gas burner, filled with a fragrant broth and laden with an array of vegetables (sprouts, tomatoes, okra and pineapple amongst others). Two fillets of silver perch and its halved head completed the dish. While I wished there was more perch meat (the cuts were rather small and very bony), the dish in its entirety was tasty, nutritious, and just the fix for a cold winters day.
Note: I didn't realize this dish was meant for sharing until I looked over and saw the table next to mine sharing it amongst three people.. Oops! Let this be a testament to its tastiness/my gluttony that I finished it off!
Makan bareng kluarga dsini. Masakannya enak, tempatnya agak kecil. Rekomend banget buat traveller yg mao jalan makan.. Makanan Vietnam dg cita rasa yg sudah agak berubah dan sesuai dg lidah indo..
The beef (or venison) salad with green mango & starfruit is without doubt the standout dish here. Some of the other things on the menu aren't bad either
The recommended dishesBeef, starfruit and apple salad (Added prawn crackers)Vercelli with beef and nam nuongBeef wrapped in beetle leafSpecial rice with pork chopI enjoyed these dishes overall but was not a fan of the Pho or the soup dishes but I guess we all have different taste.
#kningjaeats her favourite vermicelli bowl. I love coming here to get my vermicelli fix; a bowl overflowing with ingredients and flavour. Also worth trying out the pennywort drink too! relatively quick service and affordable prices.
My family love to visit this place just to try something different once in a while so I'm quite familiar with most of the dishes. Definitely check out the fresh wraps, they're so good.
One of the more relatively consistent restaurants for Vietnamese cuisine, a good place to go to if you don't have any one particular dish you'd like to order.
Special vermicelli or DIY rice paper roll plates taste quite nice, with their grilled meats being quite tasty.
One can't simply miss Bau Truong whenever they walk along John St.. It sparks my interest to find out why this place always has people patiently queueing for their seats.....Their menu is the most extensive I could ever see in Vietnamese restaurant! It gives you the feeling of hearty home-style dishes and has all the range from the char-grilled meats, salads to the street food snacks..
Toss into my favourite authentic vermicelli salad bowl with the perfect combination of swet and savoury flavours and overflowing with delicious ingredients including grilled meat, fish tofu and sugar cane to leave you so happily bloated.
What I'm thankful for is growing up in a family with a mum who cooks this type of food every second week. We were spoilt when we're young and now I spend my life searching for foods to excite me...
We settled for Bau Truong as my birthday dinner location because it satisfied the majority and in any group dinner situation... that seems to be the most important factor.
I've tried the Marrickville branch vs the Cabramatta branch and found the Cabramatta branch more authentic... but harder to order your food. The menu is very extensive. What goes with what? Does this taste good and how many dishes do I order since it's a very Vietnamese tapas style meal.
The Marrickville branch was basically sold as a westerners trap... meaning that the food was dumbed down, simplified the menu, placed all dishes on tiny plates to appear more sophisticated.
I love how the Cabramatta one serves with rice paper wraps, lots of lettuce, clean white plates and enough dipping sauces for all on the table... well kinda... my wife and I had to share... but I'm sure I could have asked for another one.
The service is quick... but the fact it's so busy, they aren't as attentive. They made a mistake and brought over the wrong dish to our table and left immediately. I had to bring it to their attention and I'm not even sure if they added it to our bill... The bill just had a total and we paid it without arguing... hmmmm....
The food tasted very fresh and was fantastic just like home... though at home if you could make it yourself it would be half the cost to the feed the same amount of people...
It's definitely a place to bring a group to try as there's plenty of great dishes on the menu... too many to try if you choose to dine as a couple.
What I do love about this place is that this is the side of Vietnamese food that most people don't get to experience... the type that eat a bowl of Pho and feel cultured for life... plus this is the type of food that you eat heaps and don't feel bloated afterwards. So go to Bau Truong and expand the Vietnamese taste buds...
Being the epicentre of Vietnamese food, we had to order the Pho. The noodles, slippery and silky, carried the sweet and aromatic broth well but was a tad bit salty for our liking. The beef was plentiful and tender.
The Bo Kho - beef stew noodle soup with egg noodles - comes with slivers of onion, carrots, shallots, slow-cooked, mouth-melting hunks of tender beef brisket and gelatinous, slippery bits of tendon.
I've been to Bau Truong numerous times to order the exact same dish. I've only ever tried it at one other place , but that only made me appreciate Bau Truong even more! Fresh herbs, noodles sticking how it should and freshly fried and grilled meat (oh, and with seven rice papers). Perfect! So, this is the same dish I've ordered on two different occasions ☺. Hot water ready for dipping :D D.I.Y Special Mixed Plate ($15) What's included in this incredible dish? Delicate rice noodles (PERFECT for this dish), grilled nem nuong, nem chua, pickled carrots and radish, cucumbers, fried rice paper roll, shredded pork, sugar cane prawn, fresh herbs and lettuce. And of course... A fish sauce vinegarette for dipping, and seven rice papers to roll with! This is the perfect amount! If you're new to this whole contraption, I'll provide simple steps. I'd like to call myself the Queen of Goi Cuon (as long with a lot of other things). 1. Rotate your rice paper in the water provided. 2. Place the rice
Beef pho (beef rice noodles) is also a must, tender, slightly raw sliced beef atop slippery rice noodles in a rich soup. It comes in a quite big bowl, and best eaten when the weather is windy and terrible.
We are shown to our seats, given tea and a menu that is bigger than the Sydney White Pages. The menu is so large that we can really only have one open at a time on the table otherwise they won’t all fit.

So we all know about duck breast, legs and liver, but what about duck tongues? At Bau Truong, these usually discarded organs are dusted with seasoned flour, deep-fried and served up as the traditional Vietnamese dish, Luoi Vit Rang Muo, or salt and pepper duck tongue . The duck tongues aren't half as intimidating when they arrive - the magic of deep-frying tends to make anything look good. Crunching through the golden batter, the tongues are a little chewy, with a faint crunch of cartilage, but their spicy coating of salt and pepper make these rather addictive. I suspect they'd be brilliant paired with beer. Bau Truong is one of the more fancier Vietnamese restaurants along John Street, recently renovated to incorporate extended seating and cheerful lime green walls. The double-sided menu can be a bit daunting at first, opening out to provide cover for even the most mischievous couple . We browse through options that run from soft shell crab, scampi and
Never have I considered myself the spontaneous type. I'm one of these people that needs a plan most of the time, you know - where we're going, when, how long … you get the point. When it comes to holidays overseas I spend many hours researching a destina
We couldn't get in to our favourite bo bay mon (beef cooked seven ways) at PLT in Canley Heights, so tried somewhere different. Bau Truong has been around for a while although only at the new glamorous possie for a year or so next to the Commonwealth Bank

One of the great things about Sydney is it’s cultural diversity. I love how there are little pockets of Sydney where there are large ethnic communities, meaning that you can go to that suburb of Sydney and allow yourself to be immersed in a different culture for a day. To me, Cabramatta is one of those suburbs. Known as Sydney’s “Little Vietnam”, it’s home to many Vietnamese Australians and lots of Vietnamese food!
Best Vietnamese in Cabra!. What an epic restaurant! Clean with great Vietnamese decor, and very spacious! Huge HUGE menu - the choices were endless! Too many, honestly! We didn't know what to choose! We got the vegetarian rice paper rolls (YUMMMM), the beef salad with apple, green mango and starfruit (totally delicious and spicy and sweet and zingy!), DIY beef vermicelli and DIY lemongrass beef vermicelli - everything was so SO yummy! We had prawn crackers and dips and endless tea, and the staff were wonderful and friendly. Cannot wait to go back!
Fabulous Vietnamese. Such variety on the menu and authentic Vietnamese food. Went with my family so we got to all try a number of dishes. All which were great especially the nem nuong, bun rieu and rice paper rolls.
Only one go-to dish. I guess it was the best of luck finding the best thing to order on the menu (and ordering it on my next six visits)!
Service is eh, but like any other restaurant in Cabramatta, I don't expect anything more. The consistency of their DIY Special Mixed Plate is incredible! The combination of noodles, pickled veggies and meats are perfect! I get the same feeling after each visit, oh god, how I love this dish!
Love the grilled pork chop and rice !!!
Pretty hard not to order the Banh tam bi thit nuong. They have a charcoal flavour in their grill like no one else.
Love this place! Must order: the wraps Dax biet...delicious assortment of BBQ meats that you wrap with rice noodles and selection of fresh mint, lettuce etc. seriously an explosion of flavour. Their apple, star fruit and BBQ beef? Dish is amazing!!!! Highly recommended place
Original Vietnamese Food. There are 2 Bau Truong. One in Cabramatta and another one is in Canley Heights. I personally prefer the Canley Heights Bau Truong.. The Vietnamese food in this restaurant is amazing. You have to try the pork chop broken rice and the sugar cane paper roll ! The serving is huge.. we normally won't have dinner after a brunch in Bau Truong. You know I am fussy xoxo
Great food and good service had the chicken feet salad and it was fantastic.
Bau Truong has a large menu with good portion sizes. The beef pho broth was very nice, the seafood spring rolls were also nice and crispy. The place is big with a lot of room and the price is pretty good.
Plenty of dishes to pick. Service was quick. Covid compliant, making sure you check in before seating. Food was delicious. Only issue it's abit expensive from $18+ but portion is decent
Busy place with a wide variety of dishes. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. The beef stew was the highlight as the broth was clean and flavourful. The beef was melt in your mouth tender. Service was prompt too!
