Wonderful meals and drinks, completely lived up to expectation. We had the lamb burger and the Thai beef salad. Both were good, the salad was excellent. Service was friendly and fast and helpful. The chips on the side of the burger were done of the tastiest I have ever had. Do try the iced tea with rose water and lychees; it was a tall glass of chill and refreshment... subtle flavour that was perfect for summer dining. The views across pumice stone passage are lovely especially at sunset. It was a bit noisy from traffic, sitting right opposite the Caloundra esplanade but worth the small inconvenience. Beachside dining at its best.
We have just got picked up our dinner and so happy. On a crazy night with markets on and thousands of people out and about, we thought the wait would be over an hour, told 35mins and received our dinner in 20min. Really nice food, fast service. Would recommend for easy fish and chips . Thanks
Our second visit on two separate trips to Caloundra and Sandbar didn’t disappoint. Fish was fresh and tasty – perhaps a little on the small side, but then again I did have to share with a toddler who loved the fish and ate more than he normally would! The chips were fresh and very tasty and we loved that they came with dipping sauces – a nice touch that other stores should adopt! The aioli was really good, very creamy, as was the tartare sauce. They were fairly quick to deliver our dinner and would not hesitate to go back again.
Best pasta dish I have ever had! Without a lie! The soft shell crab linguini was to die for. Service was also great and accommodated is with our new born baby. Wish I lived up here to be able to return to this restaurant. Credit to the chef.
Great food, friendly service and good location. The Korean chicken wings were delicious. Also enjoyed the burger and salmon cakes. I would definitely eat here again.
Nice setting on the promenade with limited outside seating so you can watch the world pass. Good coffee and vego breakkies. Their corn fritters with chili jam, rocket, bacon etc is my fave dish here.
First time back at the Sandbar in two years and we have been delighted with the fare. Crispy tempura prawns with a delicious ponzu sauce and pork croquettes were hot and tasty. Washing it all down with an Innocent Bystander Prosecco made for a great night.
We visited Sandbar on New Years Day, service was quite slow since it was mid afternoon and not busy however food was good.
Sensational! Do yourself a favour!. Like many others we escaped Brizzy this weekend while the G20 was on and went up to Caloundra. Booked a table at this venue as we had seen a good review in "Salt" quite a while ago and were keen to check it out. We were greeted by Steve (co-owner) with "happy anniversary" as we had put that on the booking. He called us by our names all evening, despite it being really busy, and made us feel really special. We had oysters Kilpatrick for entrée which were lovely: plump and tasty. I had the Shredded Duck Leg Salad which was absolutely delicious. True to form hubby looked through the entire menu then ordered steak, the eye fillet. He eats a lot of steak and said this was one of the best, if not THE best, steak he had ever had - cooked to perfection (medium) and melt in your mouth! Customer service = excellent, menu choices and food = excellent. We were too full to try a dessert so will be back. Do yourself a favour and get down there!
I had the chicken burger with chips & carrot/apple/ginger juice, very nice and just over $20, great friendly service & the best views from sitting in the undercover verandah with open blinds/sea breeze coming through.
Diana. We had brekky at The Sandbar & was pleasantly suprised with the coffee. Nice full bodied flavour & creamy. A little disapointed in the corncakes though, they were raw inside & overdone on the outside. The partner's ommelette he commented was great however. The best view ever from this cafe though & the service was great
Crunch, crunch, crunch!!!. Crunch, crunch, crunch... this is what you hear, feel and taste as you devour your serve of the best beer battered chips (I have ever enjoyed) = spectacular!!!
Oh, I should mention the location is superb across from Bulcock Beach, fish burgers are really nice, and the coffee is pretty good also.
