Review Collective Espresso - Camberwell

One of the best cafes in Camberwell. Excellent coffee (and latte art šŸ‘Œ), delicious meals and great service. Highly recommended.

Excellent coffee, some healthy options in the menu and most importantly, dog friendly. 5 Stars for coffee and 4 Stars for food. Great friendly service. I will try the Barista Breakfast next time

VERY impressed! Stumbled across this hidden gem whilst walking through town. This was my dish, delicious, healthy and filling. Super happy I found this place for lunch!

Collective Espresso was a nice little cafe serving modern Australian brunch meals in Camberwell. We ordered their insta-worthy oreo pancakes and poke bowl. The poke bowl came with salmon and vege that were fresh and delicious though it could do with more rice. The pancake had a nice fluffy texture but overall it was very dry/lacking sauce and the popcorn was stale. Coffee was great and presented nicely with cute latte art. Service was quick and friendly.

Good quality and fresh food! Coffee and beverage are on point! The outdoor seating is pretty good!

Waited >40 minutes for food. We were starved by then. But the food filled us up. Barista still managed to do coffee art for everyone even though it was super busy. Now thatā€™s talent.

The exterior of this coffee shop has good traditional atmosphere. Only got a flatwhite for takeaway due to lockdown, so I'll enjoy some meals for having here next time!

Really recommend great brunch place! Nice environment, quick staff service & friendly!

Absolutely amazing coffee! If you want a real energy boost, be sure to order the signature Baristaā€™s Breakfast, as it will make you super pumped for the rest of the day with an espresso AND milk coffee. The interior is cozy and has a dated feel, which matches the vibe of the Camberwell Junction area.

It is a small local cafe offering friendly hospitality and delicious food and drinks.
.
Letā€™s see the food we had here-
* Collective sigh of relief - this is their version of big breakfast and comes with eggs, sourdough, bacon, pork sausage, beans, potato rosti, spinach, mushrooms & tomato * sweetcorn fritter stack - comes with sweetcorn fritters, poached eggs, smashed avocado, whipped goat cheese, tomato chutney & radish salad
* crispy fries - so crunchy and perfect

We also tried their amazing smoothies. They were so nice, refreshing and filling. We opted for the
* Berriliciuos shake
* Mango passion shake
.
.
Also another amazing thing was, @collectiveespresso provides metal straw instead of a plastic one, which is reusable and does not hurt the environment.

Relax environment, friendly staff and nice coffee.

A nice cosy cafe with the friendliest staff.

We ordered the sweet corn fritters. Large portions, corn was crisp outside and sweet/juicy inside. Perfectly paired with the whipped goats cheese and sweet tomato chutney.

The smoked benny was impressive. The most crisp potato, tender slow cooked pork and perfectly cooked egg Benny with homemade hollandaise sauce.

I loved how the soy chai latte was presented and enough to make two cups. The drink was the right temperature and honey sat at the bottom of the cup, ready to be mixed.

An amazing cafe that we loved!
We ordered their smoothies and also a plate of corn fritters and their pokƩ bowl!
What I loved about the fritters is that this is a very plain and simple corn fritters that tastes real good! Absolutely loved it! The pokƩ bowl was also fresh and delicious!
If youā€™re up for some refreshing drinks! Definitely try out their smoothies - we got the mango and berries and loved them.

Been here 3 times. Food and service is great. As you would see from the pictures, it even looks nice. Only thing I cannot shake from the place is my partner and I always feel hot in this cafe, even on days that arenā€™t that hot, it may be that it is a small or stuffy place. Might try this place again in winter cause the food and service is great

Was seated on a table with dirty plates and had to ask for menus and for staff to clean the table. By the time I finished my coffee my partner just got his. When the food came out we had no cutlery and again had to ask for it. Pulled pork benedict was lack lustre and the chicken in the chicken burger tasted frozen. Overall average experience and wouldnt recommend

Such a great little cafe! Service was fantastic & staff were super friendly. Hotcakes are definitely a go-to item on the menu & the coffee was amazing šŸ™ŒšŸ¼šŸ„ž

We visited Collective Espresso on a weekend for brunch and this place was packed to the rafters with diners. The ambience was warm and inviting.

Their menu had a nice variety of choices. Everything we ordered was well presented and tasty. The serving sizes were very decent.

My only gripe was that the cold brew coffee was far too weak and tasteless. I would not order that again. Otherwise Collective Espresso was one of the better cafes around.

The food was very delicious, the staff were super nice and accommodating. I really liked the poked bowl and mango smoothie especially! It also has a cute ambiance.

A visit to Collective Espresso is always a brunch date to look forward to! Itā€™s close to public transport, easy to park beside and not so packed that you canā€™t have a conversation with your brunch date. The menu has been recently updated, however, I really donā€™t need an excuse to revisit.

I had a great experience at collective espresso yesterday. The food was gorgeous - get the gravity cake! The mango passion smoothie was also amazing. The space is super unique and has a lot of character, I loved it.

What a cute little place. Collective espresso isnā€™t a big cafe but it sure packs a punch of flavour in its food and has a lovely friendly atmosphere.

The staff were friendly, gave us water upon arrival and took our orders pretty quickly.

We ordered a chai latte and a latte both were great. Nice latte art and the honey at the bottom of the chai added a little bit of needed sweetness.

The food we ordered:
Smashed avocado
Eggs benny
The gravity cake

The smashed avo was definitely on of the prettiest smashed Avos I have seen in Melbourne. The amount of avocado wasnā€™t too much either, was a good spread.

The eggs benny had thick potato rosti they were STACKED! They were much preferred than a usual thin rosti. I really liked the presentation of this one.

And onto the gravity cake. I wonā€™t tell you the popcorn secret. You have to find out for yourself. But the vanilla cream on them was drool worthy and the sweet popcorn was a treat. I did really enjoy this dish however, the pancakes were slightly tough. But it didnā€™t take away from flavour they just lacked that slight fluffiness I would expect. But apart from that a dish which is full of sweet jam and colour.

A fab menu, a lovely cafe and quality staff.

I will definitely be back :)

Nice fritters but probably could have been a bit more spice involved. Staff a little curt and also changing plates - need to create a better environment if you want to be more

Collective Espresso combines unique flavours with incredible presentation. Their Gravity pancakes are just an instagrammers dream and their Chicken & Kimchi burger is to die for. Definitely a venue that canā€™t be ignored
Hello. Imnikki
A cosy and charming cafe located next to Camberwell Station, Collective Espresso recently had a revamp of their menu and I was keen to check out what's new.

Famous for their Oreo Showtime Pancakes and while this was on my mind the whole time I was there, I was in a weirdly savoury mood so I stuck to the Chilli Scrambled Eggs and Corn Fritters Stack. Both definitely satisfied my craving for savouries, especially the corn fritters. Crisped on the outside, generously studded with corn and well-seasoned. The avo added a touch of creaminess and sharpness to the dish, as did the whipped goat cheese.

The chilli scrambled had a slight Asian twist to it, with the addition of crispy shallots, red onion and capsicum, and made even more flavourful by sitting on a slice of cheesy sourdough.

The hot chocolate and skinny latte were both pleasant to drink, and I couldn't resist dunking the chocolate chip cookie into my coffee. An enjoyable meal, thank you for having us.
Eleanor
7/10 aka 3.5/5 but that wasnā€™t an option so Iā€™ll give them a 4/5
Service: friendly and attentive
Drinks: latte and coffee is good, the roaster is Proud Mary so no surprise there
Food: ordered Oreo hotcake, 3 cheese toasty and eggs benny
3 cheese toasty was toasted well, very crunchy. Cheese blend was nicely seasoned, delicious dish!
Eggs benny had nice, crispy potato rosti. Pulled pork was seasoned and cooked well, highlight of the dish! Hollandaise sauce was a little too much but thatā€™s my own preference. Loved the drizzle of basil pesto oil, that really completed the dish well.
Oreo hotcake was very sweet, which was what I was looking for. Loved the Oreo crumble with the rhubarb jam topping, best part of the dish. My critic for this dish is I would have preferred the stems of the strawberries to be removed. The hotcake itself was fluffy but a little under seasoned.
Second time coming here and I remember it being better than before :) just hope they would give more options with their menu.

We had the pleasure to visit this cafe for brunch and we were not disappointed.
They have an outside area were you can eat and also bring your dog with you.
We had the chilli scrambled with chorizo, it was perfect and the chorizo just added more flavour to the dish. We also had the sweetcorn fritters and they were one of the best we have ever had here in Melbourne, added bacon to it and it was a great choice.
We ordered the prana loose leaf chai latte and the barista breakfast, both were well prepared.
The staff was very friendly and happy to answer our questions about the menu.

The new spring menu was delicious. I had sweet corn fritters and an iced coffee. Staff was super friendly and took some photos for us. Definitely recommend it, really cosy cafe and great spot for Instagram photos!

Thanks for having us! Love it xx

Went to Collective for a late afternoon brunch. Oreo pancakes are legit!! Also had the chicken bur which is beastly for a cafe burg. Definitely one you want to visit if you are in the East!

One of the Most Delicious Breakfasts Iā€™ve had all year!

šŸ“Located opposite the Camberwell train station and plenty of on street parking close by, this is a fairly easy accessible cafĆ©.*There are some rules on parking signs, so keep an eye out for that so you donā€™t get caught.

šŸ½šŸ’¬Iā€™m going to keep this as short and simple as I can. Collective Espresso, I am giving you a standing applause.
Some of my most favourite brunch dishes are found right here!

What we had:

šŸ½Oreo ā€˜Show Timeā€™ Pancake $18.5
šŸ’¬I absolutely loved this dish! One of my favourite breakfast dishes of all time. The flavours of the Oreo were subtle which I was really impressed about. The dish was so good on its own merit, it didnā€™t just rely on the Oreo.
It was so light and fluffy that it tasted like a sponge cake. It was topped with whipped vanilla cream, strawberries and Oreos.. seriously too perfect. 10/10 dish! Unmissable!

šŸ½Pulled Pork Steamed Buns $17.5
šŸ’¬I was so excited when I saw the Charcoal Bao on the menu, and they did not disappoint on any account. The bread was soft, warm and had a subtle texture difference with the addition of the charcoal. The green mayo on the side was also such a nice touch for look and flavour.

šŸ½Persian Porridge (VG) $16.5
šŸ’¬This was such a warm and comforting dish ā€“ a perfect morning hug. The Tumeric Poached Pear holds the visual spotlight in this dish but for me the flavours stole the show ā€“ such a comforting mix of delicious flavours.

šŸŒŸThe FitHitā€™s Tip ā€“ If youā€™re planning on visiting on a weekend, try and avoid the peak times as this cafĆ© gets BUSY! The staff were running around frantic by about 10am. Unfortunately, our coffee order got lost in the mix up of all the franticness. This wasnā€™t a big issue at all, as I just ordered one to go instead. Worked a treat!

šŸ’¬Whilst it is almost an hours drive from my place to get to this cafĆ© ā€“ I will 100% be back. The drive was well and truly worth it. Just thinking about this visit, I want to book in again to visit and try more of their delicious menu.

šŸ’ššŸ’šTHE FOOD
šŸ’ššŸ’šTHE FLAVOURS
šŸ’ššŸ’šTHE OREO PANCAKES
šŸ’ššŸ’šCreative & Different Menu Options
šŸ’ššŸ’šFriendly Staff
šŸ’ššŸ’šBoth Indoor and Outdoor Seating Options

I've often driven past this local cafe and seen it constantly bustling, always full of people. Now that I've visited - I see why!

We ordered the famous Oreo 'Show-Time' Pancakes, which I've been admiring from a distance on my Instagram for the longest time. They were incredible - such a cleverly presented dish.Ā

We also got the Pulled Pork Steamed Buns which were completely divine. The pulled pork was mouthwateringly good and the fresh veggies added the perfect crunch.

Our final dish was the Roasted Pumpkin and Grain Salad which was my fave kind of salad because the pumpkin made it filling and comforting while the grain salad was light and tasty.

Staff were great and went to efforts to get us a table outside, which was so lovely.Ā

I can't wait to visit this gorgeous spot again and try the delicious-looking smoothie bowl in warmer weather.

Wow! The Chilli Cheese Scramble was sooo damn good! Just the right amount of melted cheese and the dried scallots gave a good crunch to it.
My friend got the Smashed Avo on toast and the lemon and seeds really made the dish pop.
Overall a really nice breakfast will definitely come back and recommend friends!
OH! And you have to get the side of mushrooms so juicy and tender šŸ˜
Super friendly service and great atmosphere.
They also have free WiFi just have to ask!

A bustling cafe located next to Camberwell Station, Collective Espresso offers a great range of brunch options that will cater for all tastes.

On our visit, we had the poke bowl and the chilli scramble. I was very impressed with the juicy mushrooms!! Definitely recommend adding them to any dish šŸ˜†. The poke bowl was tasty and fresh, and the asian twist in the chilli scramble was a pleasant surprise and worked well. Generous servings too! šŸ‘

Staff were attentive and friendly and service was prompt.

Finally got to visit this iconic Camberwell cafe again after some time. I noticed some changes in the menu from my last visit.

This popular cafe is very strategically located just across the road from Camberwell train station and close to Burke Rd tram lines.

It was a beautiful sunny sunday afternoon, so we opted for outdoor seating to enjoy our brunch.

We ordered the Corn Fritters Stack and The Smoked Benny. For drinks we had the BAM slushie and the Strawberry Milkshake.

The presentation of both dishes were amazing!
I love how much attention to details the chef has put into it!

The corn fritter flavour combinations were great and the poached egg were cooked perfectly to how we like it, runny inside. It was a tasty corn fritter dish that is indeed a crowd pleaser.

The Smoked Bennyā€™s main hero is the 14 hours slow cooked pork marinated in chipotle and smoked bbq sauce. The pork was tender, and the potato hash was a perfect combination to to go with the pork. The grated apple shreds balanced and complimented the pork very well. The poached eggs were, again, perfectly cooked to our liking with beautiful hollandaise sauce.

Given the thickness of the potato hash (which I love), I feel that the flavours from the pork or the marinating sauce (or both) could have been stronger to cut through that hash and to really give this dish more character (that smokey barbecue flavour as the title suggests).

The slushie was quite refreshing, although
the milkshake perhaps could have been thicker and fuller.

Overall we really enjoyed our brunch here and will definitely come back to try their other dishes in the menu!

Definitely not one to be missed if you have not visited them. Voted as the best brunch cafe in Camberwell and it has definitely lived up to its name. Located directly opposite the train station on Cookson street is this amazing brunch spot.
Known for their floor tiles at the entrance ā€˜Meet Me Hereā€™, you have probably seen this alot on Instagram. They had a good variety on the menu and we took awhile to decide what we should have. Finally decided on the sweet corn fritters and the smoked benny and we were not disappointed.
The presentation of the dishes were spot on and definitely on point, and was definitely insta-worthy! The sweet corn fritters went really well with the smashed avocado and the goats cheese gives it the extra flavours. The radish salad also complements the dish and balances out the flavours really well.
The smoked benny was definitely a highlight as we loved the idea of a potato hash rather than the usual sourdough bread. The potato hash was really crispy and it went really well with the smoked benny. The eggs completes the dish and I loved the chipotle and bbq sauce.
We went with B.A.M slushie and strawberry milkshake, the B.A.M slushie was very refreshing and it was perfect after a heavy meal.
Be sure to drop in for brunch and coffee when youā€™re in the Camberwell area.
My partner and I had the pleasure of eating our breakfast here today, the service was incredible and our food came out super quick! They have a great variety of options on their menu and the food is extremely tasty and aesthetically pleasing (as you can see from the photo!!). Would highly recommend you try this cafe, you wonā€™t be disappointed x

All I can say is WOW! Collective Espresso never seems to disappoint. Seriously this place is one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. The coffee is too die for and the breakfast is outstanding. We had the Chilli Scambled with chorizo and avocado. Oh my goodness that chorizo really made the dish, the meal was so delicious and full of flavour. We also had the Smashed Avo (no brainer) , so fresh and satisfying you canā€™t go wrong! If youā€™re in Camberwell you need to try these guys out - they are amazing!!!!šŸ˜šŸ˜
Gluten Free Bible
We loved dining at Collective Espresso! There were lots of gluten free options & everything was delicious! We really loved the Smashed Avocado as it was super tasty and full of flavour! We also had the Strawberry Smoothie Bowl which was refreshing & super healthy! The coffee is also great and we were served by very friendly staff members. We will be returning very soon!!

The staff were friendly. I ordered scrambled eggs, spinach, mushrooms, halloumi on toast and it was delicious until I found 2 insects on my plate which management said was from the spinach. I was disappointed and left feeling nauseous. Staff did apologise and said they will look into it with the supplier.

Collective Espresso is located right beside Camberwell Train Station, which is very convenient and easy to spot. At the same time, there are a few parking spots around the brunch place, so we didn't have too many issues in looking for parking. The poke bowl was refreshing & fantastic, but the chilli scramble did not meet up to my expectation. It was kinda cold and soggy. Coffees from Collective, on the other hand, is really amazing. Would definitely recommend their coffee and the baristas are extremely friendly. Nothing too exciting on the menu, but it's a nice spot to be if you're hanging out with close friends or catching up with a colleague.

Collective Espresso is a well located cafe right near Camberwell station. Staff were friendly upon arrival and the service was great.

We ordered the:
Oreo pancakes ā€“ beautifully presented dish, with a great touch of fresh fruit
Blueberry and coconut smoothie bowl ā€“ refreshing bowl with a side of strawberries and we also added peanut butter
Sweetcorn fritter stack ā€“ generous portion and well-cooked fritters

We also ordered some coffee including the almond cappuccino, soy latte and the BAM (blueberry, apple and mint slushy).

Overall, it was a good visit and we look forward to returning in the future! ā˜ŗļø

(3.5 āļø)We ordered the corn fritter stack & the eggs benny which were both $19 each. The portion sizes were generous & definitely filled us up. šŸ˜— However, in terms of flavour I would say it looked better than it tastes. ā˜¹ļø The dishes were not necessarily horrible tasting, in fact, they were better than average but it was just a lacking a wow factor. šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼Nothing really stood out in terms of flavour profile or combinations that would perk the tastebuds. šŸ¤Æ They definitely could have done more to push the flavours further. On the other hand the potato hash & corn fritters were overly greasy but not on a good way. šŸ„“ Regardless still a decent meal especially with an affordable price tag! šŸ‘šŸ»

Real rating 4.4 āļø

We had visited Collective Espresso for brunch and hereā€™s what we had!

Persian porridge - served with tumeric poached pear, soaked oats in soy milk, toasted seeds and nuts and Persian pistachio fairy floss! The oats were had a nice sweetness to it and the best part about this was how heartwarming this dish was! The poached pear and fairy floss were smart additions to this as it enhanced be sweetness of the porridge!

Oreo show time pancake - served with strawberries and cream, rhubarb compote, banana crumble and whipped vanilla ice cream! This tasted better than I expected as it looked very creamy but it worked out well with the compote complementing it! The sweet and sour element worked really well hence making it my fave dish of the day!

Pulled pork steam buns - charcoal gua baos and chili jam, coriander and pickled cabbage and green mayo! Not only was this beautiful was but it was absolutely tasty as well! The pulled pork was juicy and not overtly stringy! The chili jam and green mayo were excellent spreads for the bao giving it an extra kick!

Overall, we had a great time at Collective Espresso and would visit again!

Seeing so many amazing dishes lately and reading so many raving reviews on how great Collective Espresso is, I was thrilled to be invited by my friend recently.

The cafe is of a modest size, nice and cosy with outdoor seating too.Ā The menu here is really good with different options to choose from.Ā Ā

I ordered the sweet corn fritter stack which was outstanding, presentation and taste was 10/10! My friend ordered the Poke Bowl which was such a huge serve, it looked fresh and healthy and very delish.Ā We also ordered the Oreo 'Show Time' Pancake to share, what a show stopper this is! If you want to totally satisfy your sweet tooth craving definitely order this, it was so divine. The pancakes were so fluffy and the the rhubarb compote with the whipped cream.. take my money now! The only thing on the dish that I thought was a little out there was the dill, not sure why this was there.. maybe to make the aesthetics look a bit better.

My iced coffee was probably one of the best I have had.Ā I can see why this place has such amazing reviews, it really is worth a visit.
I had the pleasure of meeting Collective Espressoā€™s head chef today. Jose was most generous with his time, and had a chat about what inspired the Pancake dish on the menu. I was impressed to hear he ws inspired by the Black Forrest Cake, and this was an attempt to create an elegant yet playful version of the renowned dish.

Ā

Ā

Just across from Camberwell station this cute little cafe was where the incredible gravity waffles were created. They always have a show stopping signature dish and their Oreo pancakes are no exception. Creative, unique and delicious, the little bucket of popcorn adds flavour and fun.
The porridge is a perfect winter dish with a turmeric poached pear and green fairy floss. Itā€™s almost too pretty to eat.
They have changed the interior with lots of little tables and l just love the new look. Super cute cafe with a convenient location opposite camberwell station !!

For 3, we ordered:

- the oreo 'show time' pancake: our favourite dish :) the little popcorn bucket was super cute ! It wasnt overly sweet as the rhubarb compote added a nice tang, pancakes were fluffy

- sweetcorn fritter stack: your average fritters, nothing super special but still quite tasty

- chilli scrambled: huge portion size, very filling

- the double burger: definitely for the hungry ones, not too oily

Make sure to make a visit next time you're close to camberwell junction:)

Collective Espresso is a cute little cafe just across from Camberwell Station. Itā€™s a very well-known and popular cafe, and after visiting I can definitely see why!

The venue is small but it is very cosy and welcoming. We had the Oreo ā€˜Show Timeā€™ Pancake and the Sweetcorn Fritter Stack, along with the BAM and a Mango juice.

The corn fritters were delicious! One of the best fritters Iā€™ve had! Not only was it a generous portion, but the texture was perfect - crispy on the outside and soft and mushy on the inside. It wasnā€™t too dense, and the corn added a nice pop of sweetness. Loved the combination of avocado and poached egg. Highly recommend adding the bacon too!

The Oreo ā€˜Show Timeā€™ Pancake were definitely a showstopper! Such a pretty dish, with so many toppings. Despite its name, I felt that it tasted less like Oreo and more fruity from the rhubarb compote and strawberries - which I really loved! The rhubarb was tart which balanced out the sweetness, and there was plenty of it as well as cream to give the dish moisture. The popcorn bucket was a cute addition too, although it was mainly for the presentation.

I also really loved the BAM slushie - it was very light and refreshing, and not too filling like a smoothie (which I prefer!).

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Collective Espresso. The staff are extremely friendly and service is good too. Highly recommend checking it out!

Thank you so much for having us!

Amazing coffee.
Amazing food.
Amazing location.

I really loved my visit here. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The coffees were excellent, the food was really delicious - the pancakes are an absolute must. The fritters were so delicious too and it was such a great balance of flavours and textures. The chili scramble was nice (I would have liked it a tiny bit more spicy) but delicious nonetheless!!

Will 100% be back!
Melbourne Madness
Have heard quite a lot about this place before coming here, so decided to visit to see what all the hype was about!First, the presentation of meals is truly exquisite. If you're after a totally Insta-worthy meal then this is a great place for that!I ordered the smashed avo with mushrooms and my friend ordered the same! The bread was very thick cut and soft (which we loved!) and the coffee was good too!The service was average - the staff were lovely but they had a little bit of trouble understanding us, so we had to ask multiple times for things, and our coffee came out way after the food. This is the reason that we did not think it was a 5 star experience - but maybe next time, as I would return again!

Next time I would order something sweet, because those dishes just look so beautiful!Ā Thanks for a nice brunch in Camberwell :)

Came here today for lunch yesterday. We had the beef burger, the Oreo pancake , chai latte and strong latte. The pancake is not only pretty but delicious! Fresh cream with fluffy pancake. Beef burger is great too . Friendly service.

Collective Espresso is a cosy local suburban cafe located walking distance from Camberwell station. Ā It is popularly known for its coffee and innovative brunch creations that not only impress, but taste delicious too. Ā Yes, Collective Espresso has been taken over by new owners and like others, they have had to faceĀ the challenges of taking over one of the areaā€™s favouriteĀ cafes and ensuring that they meet their customers expectations ā€“ so itā€™s only fair to give them a little time to fine tune themselves.

Collective espresso is a lovely little spot located just opposite Camberwell train station!

What I ordered:
Chilli scrambled eggs
The double burger
Oreo pancake
Blueberry, apple & mint slushie

I loved how generous they were with the crispy shallots on the chilli scramble, I really enjoyed the cheesy sourdough that it was served with.

The double burger was really good too - itā€™s such good value ($20) for the size of the burger (2 beef patties), plus it came with fries!

For their new menu, they have removed their waffles and changed it to an Oreo pancake!

I really liked their blueberry, apple & mint slushie, it was super light & refreshing - definitely a go to drink in the summer.

The team were super friendly and helpful too!

Absolutely loved this cafe in Camberwell! From waffles that defy gravity to burgers the size of your head, Collective Espresso has got a delicious dish for everyone. I can definitely see why theyā€™re a constantly recommended cafe in the area!

Nestled in right next to Camberwell Station, it's in such a central location for any East Siders. The interior was lovely, with beautiful artwork lining the walls & had a welcoming vibe. It was a little bit smaller than I expected, so I opted to sit outside & I really enjoyed it.

Everything was so delicious!
The gravity waffles were sweet but not overpowering. I loved how soft they were & the contrast to the crunchy popcorn. Also extra love for the theatrics of the ā€˜floatingā€™ cup pouring out the popcorn.
The southern fried chicken burger was huge! The nice thick bun made it a filling meal, along with the crispy & tasty chicken inside.
I really enjoyed the eggs benny here as well, with the the creamy hollandaise & tasty pork

I always believe that the staff can make or break a visit, and the staff here were fantastic. So warm, welcoming & I felt very looked after. This is a cafe I will definitely be coming back to whenever I get the chance.

Corn Fritters ain't Corn Fritters ...

I lost count on how many Corn Fritters I've had in my life to date, Collective Espresso version is hard to beat.

Their coffees are a great compliment to their food/kitchen staff, whether you like food or coffee, this place is the one to go in Camberwell. JT-May 2019.
@foodtom
They always exceed expectations, great food, great location, prompt service. We got the benedict and the pancakes and safe to say they both tasted great. I'll be back, thanks for having me in.

Is that not the most INSTAGRAMMABLE pancakes youā€™ve ever seen? šŸ˜

FOOD & DRINKS: I ordered the Oreo ā€˜Show Timeā€™ Pancakes and it was AMAZING! For the price and the flavour, it was truly worth it! Loaded with so many different unique aspects that make it different from a regular pancake, it truly blew me away! I love oreos and this pancake hit every single spot and the whipped cream with the rhubard compote just made for the perfect sweet and tart balance and the pancake was insanely good too!! The presentation itself won me over and the flavour definitely won me over as well! The coffee was also, PHENOMENAL! They are Collective ESPRESSO for a reason and it was so rich and creamy which satisfied those Monday morning blues! I absolutely LOVE the food and coffee here!

SERVICE: The service here is so fantastic as well with the servers being incredibly friendly, pleasant and welcoming! They really brighten the entire cafe up!

Overall, Collective Espresso is a jackpot for a perfect brunch place and with it being DIRECTLY in front of the Camberwell station, it is definitely a must visit for their unique array of menu items, amazing coffee, FREE WIFI!! and lovely service! Thank you so much Collective šŸ„°

Collective Espresso is a tiny shop, right by Camberwell station with a single, shared table down the middle and limited seated at the front. Communter coffee is the go. And who wouldnā€™t want to start the day with a well-made latte and a smile?

Collective Espresso is a cute and delightful cafĆ© situated in Camberwell. Itā€™s definitely a favourite cafĆ© in the local community while also gathering attention further away and itā€™s not hard to see why! Everything about this place is wonderful!Ā The place is quite small but the space is well-utilised with a large banquet-like table along the corridor of the establishment, being able to seat roughly 16 people.Ā

We had the Sweetcorn & Zucchini Fritters, the Collective Salad Bowl with Deep Fried Chicken and the Nepalese Slow Braised Lamb Curry. We absolutely loved the dishes we selected today. The favourite was definitely the Lamb Curry. It is quite a unique dish for a brunch menu but it definitely did not disappoint. It was rich with flavour and was very appetising.Ā The Salad Bowl was very refreshing and the fried chicken was not too oily. It went well with the lemon dressing. The fritters were divine, it was a very generous serving and it was such an aesthetically pleasing dish! (See photo)

The customer service was great. All the waiters and waitresses were helpful and had great recommendations. Todayā€™s experience was extremely enjoyable and we cannot wait to come back soon to try something different!

Just tried the new Autumn menu at Collective and was super impressed with the vegan options! the dishes at Collective Espresso are always so delish and inventive, as well as aesthetically pleasing!!

We tried:

Breaky Board with berry panna cotta which was my FAVE! Definitely get this if you have a sweet tooth!

Smashed avocado which was thick and covered in seeds. Very satisfying and yum!

Pumpkin Salad which was tasty and nourishing! Always a winner as a healthy option!

Service and vibes are always great at Collective! My almond flat white was on point too šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼ Definitely a great spot to meet a friend for brunch!

3.5 rating. Managed to get a table straight away. Ordered the chilli scramble, thought it was unusual that it had carrot, fennel and capsicum in it as Iā€™ve never come across one like this before but overall enjoyed it. Partner like his Poke bowl. Our order came quick but service was a bit rusty-no friendly greeting on arrival and seemed staff didnā€™t communicate, had seperate servers come up to us for the same thing. Place is bit small so can be loud. Would go back though, keen to try the gravity waffles.

I ordered the herb crumbed mushrooms on multigrain toast w/ porcini pesto, wilted spinach and trufflenaise. You could just see the crisp from a distance. šŸ‘ŒšŸ½ Also, trufflenaise is smooth and beautiful in flavour. The right thing to dip crispy things into šŸ¤¤. Checkout that coffee art as well. The latte tasted beautiful.

Even though this cafe is quite the small, the flavours are LARGE! Situated right next to Camberwell station, this accessible cafe boasts so many qualities! With it's NEW owners going from strength to strength it's time you stopped by and see what all the hype is for!
Melb_Belly
Came during peak brunch time on a Sunday we got a table straight away.

Cold drip coffee was great! Full flavoured and refreshing. Babyccino does not come with a marshmallow, noting because it's the first thing my little one looks for šŸ˜….

The Sign of Relief is their take on a big brekkie. It comes with all the favourites, bacon, poached eggs, tomato, shrooms, cheesy hash and spicy beans. The spicy beans were very nice and the poachies cooked perfectly.

The vegan mango panna cotta is closer to a jelly than panna cotta. It's presented nicely with flower cut strawberries and the panna moulded as a rose.

Friendly service with seating inside and out the front.
Platecreative
ā¤ļøI really adore this little cafe, from the wonderful welcoming staff to the calming and relaxing vibes it exudesāœØ. It also has a menu of food creations that excites our tastebuds šŸ˜‹and makes your jaw drop at your first glancešŸ¤©

What's wrong with my brain to buy a take away coffee here this morning, the worst and most costly coffee in this area. The attitude was bad, first made the wrong coffee, then made it in such a casual way, tasted just like a machine made milk mixed with coffee. So disappointed.
Misssteph_eatdrinkplay
I've heard mixed comments about this place, but I'm overall impressed with my experience. Good coffee and food! Nice local gem - make sure u try their herbed mushrooms

Very creamy and fruity single original espresso and delicious waffle. Definitely will come back. The location is just beside of train station.

3.5
Collective Espresso has recently changed owners, changed up their menu and changed up their coffee machine so we were invited back to check it all out. Much like our last visit public transport issues and bus replacements dominated the outside world near this snug little cafe.

We sat outside ordering the BAM juice again (highly recommended) and also the Oreo shake which came out in a icy cold metal cup.

I ordered the beef madras curry, new to the menu, which came out in its own little covered curry pot and with plenty of roti presented in a spiral. This was my favourite dish of those we tried. Iā€™m do enjoy a good curry at any
Time of the day.

My plus one ordered avo on toast with ocean trout and potato rostis. She also ordered perhaps one of the most average panna cottas Iā€™ve had in recent time. Yes it was vegan, yes it was pretty but texturally didnā€™t seem right. No wobble worth mentioning because it was to flat and dense.

Two great dishes and two great drinks and decent coffee all hot the high marks but one dish left us somewhat flat and score reflects this.

Previous Review
We called into Collective Espresso for a mid week breakfast before heading out to work for the day. A quiet oasis in whatnturned out to be a crazy public transport day (queues of people for train replacement buses outside). A lot of people came and went as their pre commute take away coffee stop and the staff were certainly working hard to get the take away coffee orders out as quickly as possible.

We started with coffee ordering a latte and a long blacks. We both really enjoyed the coffee blend here, which was actually quite a sweet extraction.

For breakfast we chose the delightful blueberry, coconut smoothie bowl. The granola was full of wonderful honey cornflakes and the smoothie itself was seriously chilled. I liked the addition of dehydrated coconut chunks. You can option up this bowl to include goji berries and strawberries but we didnā€™t go there.

For breakfast number two we stuck with the traditional and ordered ā€œThe No Brainerā€ smashed avocado, feta on the thickest multigrain toast and with a poached egg and bacon. This was a really good smashed avo dish and I was glad for the inclusion of yolky goodness.

We also tried the inventive blueberry, apple and mint slush ice (BAM) which was super refreshing and gave me brain freeze on just the one occasion ( I was drinking too fast).

Thanks so much for inviting us in to dine.

This cute kitten gem is next to Camberwell station and always great to pop into when Iā€™m heading to the city for a coffee. Love the big communal table plus great outdoor seating. The food is also a standout, offering a range of great dishes which you can see in my photos. Worth visiting!
Good Food Good Mood
I was invited to Collective today and was keen to visit given they have new management. Unfortunately it was my least favourite of all three experiences owing to their new vegan panna cotta which was truly awful. Hugely overpriced and microscopic on the plate, I wouldnā€™t be remotely filling.

It looks pretty as a picture but isnā€™t a panna in any sense of the word. No wobble to speak of, texturally terrible and not a lot of flavour going on either. The other new dish the curry had a lot more going for it albeit felt a little odd to be eating at 10.30am. The real delight for me here was the iced chai. This is a must order and the saving grace of the day

Update
I was invited to collective today to check out their new menu. A lot of the crowd favourites remain the same, the visually impressive waffles and the smoothie bowl are unchanged but there is a new burger, chilli scramble and a couple of other newbies.

Unfortunately they were all out of the chilli scramble so we went with a classic, smashed avo. This was a simple rendition but very enjoyable. I also had a chai but found it a little lacking in flavour.

My husband went for the zucchini and sweetcorn fritters. They were very pretty on the plate but quite dark in colour. I kind of felt like a little something from the cake cabinet and was sad to realise they no longer have Bistro Morgan donuts although this probably worked out for the best as far as my health is concerned.

Original review
Iā€™ve seen the insta famous gravity waffles doing the rounds on social media so I was very excited to dine as a guest of a Collective Espresso yesterday. Located in Camberwell literally across from the station and also easily accessible by tram they are in quite the handy spot and conveniently nestled amongst some decent strip shopping.

Staff were super energetic dancing around the kitchen which created a fun and buzzy atmosphere. Being another warm day we started off with a cold drip and a blueberry apple and mint slushie which was deliciously refreshing. We ordered the obligatory smashed avo which was quite a generous rendition with perfectly seasoned avo piled high atop a slice of thick multi.

There was no way in hell I wasnā€™t ordering the waffles and they proved quite the spectacle, definitely some of the coolest presentation in Melbourne right now. The waffle itself was sensationally soft and fluffy and absolutely the ideal texture. Quite a generous serve too with two sizeable waffles on the plate.

If your sweet tooth still isnā€™t satisfied they stock the amazing Bistro Morgan donuts as well as Sweet by nature gf cakes and a collection of in house made yummies including some delectable looking brownies.

I also tried a blueberry smoothie bowl which had the tasty addition of chunky dehydrated coconut flesh providing an interesting texture that elevated the dish. Overall vibrant, beautifully plated delicious food in a cool and relaxed atmosphere. Whatā€™s not to like?
Bigmelbappetite
This soft shell crab on mac and cheese croquette was a deliciously decadent treat, and being so close to Camberwell station itā€™ll be hard to resist! The vegan panacotta dessert was the lovely chaser - I would say I could love a bit more flavour than the combination of fruit

Lunching at Collective Espresso opposite Camberwell Station, the most publicized brunch spot in Camberwell. The one of the only brunchy spots that was here before we left town, since we moved Camberwell is now brunch central on this side of town...

I'm here waiting for my food for the last 45 minutes. Horrible! And I'm eating alone so I dont understand why it's taking too long. I was just told that the deep fried pork belly takes a while.

The food and coffee is fabulous here. We had the fritters and the herb crumbed mushrooms. Both were delicious and we would come back to eat these again. The coffee was excellent - this would be our local coffee stop if we lived in the area. Thanks for having us!

Fantastic coffee, but beware- if you take a KeepCup one of the baristas there fills it at least 1cm below fill line! Never happened at any other cafe out of all my years using these cups but today was the second time there for me. Boo.

Has to be the best coffee house in Camberwell! Omgosh has so much food and everyone single plate tasted amazing. We had 4 people and ordered the the double... make it a beast, gravity waffle, soft shell mac and cheese and the Benedict!! So so good! Definitely a place to try. i also has the latte, the barista takes a lot of care in making the coffee, partnered with the speciality coffee beans make it a must try coffee.
Jared
Great vibe about the place, friendly staff and delicious food! Generous portions and a good variety of savoury and sweet dishes for everyone.

The coffees were excellent, beautifully made and the peanut butter milkshake was huge! Very creative concepts of food presentation and expertly assembled with care.

I would recommend a visit!

Food was filling and there was quite a range to choose from. Presentations are nice and serving size are decent. Coffees were well made as well.

Staff are friendly and attentive.

Service was fast.

Ambience is calming and chill. Lots of seating options.

Came here for brunch with a few friends and wanted a seat indoors as it was quite cold outside. As they did not have any available, they gave us a few blankets and coffees to warm up until a table freed about 10 minutes later, which was really nice. The food was great, highly recommend the mac and cheese with soft shell crab and the smoothie bowl. Was so impressed I actually came back the weekend after for brunch again!

Iā€™ve been working just a short walk from here for abit now and have been getting a coffee daily, not just because it the closest but they kill it everytime, been sussing the southern fried chicken burger for abit and decided to send it today, much like there coffee they have hit the nail on the head, I got it take away which I dont they had really heard of but still pulled through, the chicken wasnā€™t like your standard fried chicken and was abit less crispy then Iā€™m use to but that isnā€™t a negative as it was juicy and delicious, fresh ingredients which always helps and as I requested they crisped up the bacon to perfection !
Sweetoothbrunches
This place is sure to impress. I decided to try their famous gravity waffles and it definitely lived up to the expectations. Not your usual sweet waffles, but you will truly love the fruity fresh taste.

Really enjoyed this brunch! Service was great (but food took a little bit long to come out) and the coffee was pretty nice. I ordered the "Collective Sigh of Relief" and added Haloumi. Eggs, bacon, mushrooms, spinach, rostis and housemade beans. Those beans were awesome. Very very tasty. I'm a bit 50/50 on grilled haloumi I but wow that one was gooood. Defintley want to go back.

Friendly vibes with lovely local feel
Dishes: The No Brainer + Herbed Crumbed Mushrooms
With such gorgeous weather heading to this cafe seemed the right thing to do. We sat on the communal table inside the cafe which I thought gave a wonderful touch to the small inside and also allowed for more seating then seperate tables.
Thoroughly enjoyed the herbed crumbed mushrooms and thought it was perfect portion size. The No Brainer was also good however unfortunately they forgot the extra mushrooms we requested.
Overall good service and food.
@lukebMelb
Came here this morning for brunch & loved it. Limited seating but i noticed you can reserve a table which is good !! Ordered the chilli scramble and the sigh of relief. Chilli scramble was very nice and so was the sign of relief, only dissapointment was the cheesy hash. Not much cheese, i think just a standard hash brown would have been better. Great coffee, some of the best i've had, that alone would make me want to come back! Good portion sizes also.

Collective Espresso is a cute little cafe located on Cookson Street just off Burke Road in Camberwell. Located close to the station, it has a great seating area out the front but also does a heavy coffee & brunch trade for the locals.

We ordered a few dishes to share & decided on an iced coffee & an iced chocolate for a change.

I hadnā€™t had an iced chocolate in ages & I loved the presentation of this when it arrived. It was light & refreshing with plenty of ice & was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered a strong iced coffee & loved it too. The Undercover Roasters coffee made it a quality drink too.

The No Brainer (Smashed Avocado) was served on a thick slice of multigrain bread which was a highlight for my friend.

The Chilli Mushroom Pasta was one of the specials & so we had to try it & added poached chicken. It was a rich & creamy pasta served with crunchy garlic bread & we both really enjoyed it.

The Southern Fried Chicken Burger was the favourite. Served with red cabbage, green chilli slaw, tasty cheese on a brioche bun, with shoestring chips, it was full of flavour & crunch.

We had such a lovely visit, really enjoyed our food & Amy was such a gorgeous host who made us feel so welcome. Thanks so much for having us.

Coffee was superb!! Staff friendly and efficient. The croquette with soft crab was ok but I wished Iā€™d ordered the waffle! Iā€™ll have to return!

Food & coffee is great! Small space but wait time is never too long. Staff are always friendly, and great overall vibe. Come here often for a coffee and muffin.

Waited at least 20 minutes for a coffee because they were serving all the people who came for take away first. Although it was freezing could the waitress said that she really couldnā€™t close the door??

Nice and strong taste coffee shop in Camberwell!
Came here to try out their gravity waffles! But end up just drinking coffee:) will definitely come back and try out the insta worthy gravity waffles for sure !
Quince And Cheese
Collective is a well established cafe right next to Camberwell station. They serve a range of breakfast and lunch dishes, of which I've tried several. I shared an acai bowl with my partner, which was topped with a beautiful array of edible flowers, fruit, granola and freeze dried coconut (SO good!) The cereal was a bit too sweet for my liking, but would surely please any sweet tooth. I also sampled the Collective Sigh of Relief (i.e. big brekkie), made veggie with a sub of haloumi for bacon. The haloumi was a generous serve, beans were very well spiced and mushrooms were delicious. But my favourite dish of the day was the week's special- a very cheesy mushroom pasta served with garlic bread and a few tomatoes. My partner also tried the other special, a fried chicken burger, which he seemed satisfied with. Oh, and you can't visit Collective without trying their wonderful coffee, made silky smooth even if you're ordering an extra hot soy!
Ignatia
Ordered The Collective Sigh of Relief because the name just resonated with my mood after a long, busy month of August. Kind of hoping the sourdough toast was crispier instead of soggy. My favourite things from this dish are the hash brown and halloumi cheese. Had their long black made from special coffee beans, Fincas Las Cuadra from Costa Rica. Very unique and distinct flavour, something that I had never tasted before. It's $5 but I like it so it's worth it.
Decent Feed
Came to Collective Espresso with high expectations after seeing photos of their all mighty gravity waffle online, and hoping the rest of their dishes would amaze me just as much. Whilst my overall experience was good, the food just didnā€™t amaze me at the level that I had hoped for.

The Herb Crumbed Mushroom dish was nice. The English mushrooms were soft and toasted just right, whilst the crumbed mushrooms offered a crunchy texture. Accompanied with the mushies were some wilted spinach, which although didnā€™t offer much flavour, it was necessary to have some greens on the plate. I was unsure of the trufflenaise sauce, as it did get a little sickening towards the end of the meal, but I did enjoy it for the first half of the half of the meal.

My partner ordered the Collective Sigh of Relief, which is your typical big breakky. Has pretty much everything that you want- eggs, bacon, beans, mushies and hash on toast! Presentation wise, the dish was put together a bit sloppily, and wasnā€™t quite what we expected after seeing photos the amazing gravity waffle online.
Mi55Bee
Gravity waffle for the gram. Waffles too soft and soggy, taste like pancake more than anything. Condiments like the fruits are okay, popcorn were average and lack of vanilla ice cream. For 18.50 is not worth your coin ! Soy latte taste like soy milk no caffeine
Renee @thehappyorganicgirlau
Where everything is created for the food blogger within, such as the Gravity Waffles and the classic ā€œMeet me hereā€ tiles weā€™ve all seen on insta - I just had to try it!
The Gravity Waffles are pretty cool, although I found them a little dry and would have loved some more syrup/sauce/curd. The Mac n Cheese Soft Shell Crab was pretty groovy, although I was sad not to get a vandyke lemon like some of the bloggers get.
Coffee was AMAZING! So smooth! Cute little cafe close to the station.
