Review Juno And May - Camberwell

Richard Farr
Nice atmosphere and food. Gluten free options are not great BUT the staff were very knowledgeable and careful about gluten which was great Had the lamb shoulder which was a nice, surprisingly homey dish that brought out the natural flavours of the lamb and vegetables really well. Dessert was also good - we had the peanut butter parfait which was delicious and the mango panna cotta which was great but could have used a couple more raspberries and strawberries, as the tartness of those berries combined with the other flavours really made the dish!

Today's birthday celebrations took us to this spot with a modern Australian / European twist, although the lunch selections seemed just as Asian inspired. We placed our orders with a chirpy server - she was good at describing one of their signature dinner offerings but a little pushy asking us to Instagram. I can't say they were fast as the wait was dominated by a lot of conversation but my grumbling, empty belly was grateful when the food finally arrived. My apple crumble pancakes were a little light on ingredients. There was dash of maple, blueberries that I can count on one hand, really tasty but such tiny clusters of oat crumble, slivers of poached apple and a small scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. The overall effect was dry pancakes. The points are because my friends liked their yoghurt marinated Moroccan chicken salad and the sweet potato hash with pulled lamb shoulder. There were no desserts for lunch but we were told we must come back for dinner to try them. While the modern setting and the comfortable booth were pleasant, I can't say I was won over by the food when Melbourne has so many great places to eat.

Great food, especially loved the pancakes, which I would highly recommend. Not your standard pancakes, they were fluffy inside and slightly crunchy on the outside, delicious. Took my mum here for Mother’s Day. Staff were super friendly but it did take about half an hour for food to come out, and they forgot the food for our neighbouring table (very patient and polite couple). Would visit again.

2.8 We stopped for a pre dinner drink tonight. One Mekong Sunrise and an Aperol Spritz. I was going to have a Negroni but backed off that when the server said, “...I may have the recipe for that...” which didn’t generate confidence that it’d be a good one. Service was pleasant but slow and the cocktails took a long while to be started, finished and served. We may have just been unlucky as I think a couple of staff members were either on a break or came in just before we left. Whatever the reason the delay was too long with so few customers inside before things really geared up for the evening. My partner’s Aperol Spritz was ordinary. Wrong glass and the mix tasted underehelming. By contrast, the Mekong Sunrise was excellent. It was a very nice cocktail. It was an average experience tonight, unfortunately. I might be prepared to return given some of the other good reviews about the place.

The food was excellent and the service was top quality. Have already recommended it to some friends and I will definitely be back.

Great food and friendly services. Nicely decorated too !

good food, nice atmosphere, clean settings, good service. Nice place to go.

We felt duped. The waitress sold the 5 tasting plates to us and said it will cost $32. She then charged us $64 (32 x 2) at the end and when questioned pointed to the fine print at the bottom of the menu that read per person. Not happy about the sales tactic. We think when mentioning a deal it would be honest to say per person before we ordered. Not happy.

Used to like this place but going downhill. Slow service and the wait staff seem really disengaged when you have to ask for water, serviettes and they didnt even wipe the table down after we sat down!

I had a pleasant visit for brunch recently. <br/><br/>Juno & May's menu is large, varied and interesting. I had the sweet potato hash dish, and it was wonderfully presented, colourful and really generous in size. Overall was very nice, but lacking finesse. The hash was too dense to be a sweet potato hash, more like a gnocchi mix used as hash and with little sweet potato (or so it felt to me) and it was burned outside. There was a lot of thought about the mix of flavours put on the plate, but a bit of more thought on the textures of the different elements would have made the experience more enjoyable.<br/><br/>Nice coffee.<br/><br/>The place is really lovely, spacious and full of greenerie. The ambience is quiet , relaxed and chatty, and, at least when I visited. Mum, gradma and family friendly. Perfect for a quiet pleasant catchup during the week. <br/><br/>Matter of fact service.

Lovely café with a large interior and modern design. Indoor plants and timber accents provide a natural feel.<br/><br/>• Les Omlette – The omelette had a light texture and wasn’t overly dry, still retaining a bit of jiggle in the middle. There was a mixture of sharpness, funkiness and creaminess from the gruyere, parmesan and gouda, with a bonus pong of goats cheese crumbled on top. Very nice, but a little rich towards the end of the dish.<br/><br/>• Sweet Potato Hash – quite a nicely plated dish, but I was hoping there were would be more sweet potato in the hash. It was probably 85% potato with specks of orange sweet potato through it. The pulled lamb shoulder was indeed very tender, as it was slowly stewed and had a rich, distinctly lamby flavour. Perfectly poached egg and fried cubes of halloumi gave the dish more elements of richness, and towards the end, also felt quite heavy.<br/><br/>• Very nice coffee as well, my strong latte was on the chocolatey side, with tightly steamed milk.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The staff and owner is wonderful and I’ve eaten there a few times and they hosted my birthday function. Love the food and cocktails!! Also they do amazing coffees / chai lattes. I am often getting my coffees from here.

Three of us spent $160 . 2 entrees and 3 mains and 3 drink. A bit overpriced I think. We had a sticky table, set there waited 10 mins till the waitress come to take our order while there are 3 tables with guest. For what they charging they really shouldn’t leave all the menus on my table when we finish ordering.<br/><br/>That eye fillets was about $38 I think, not a big portion but more importantly it’s bit chewy when it’s medium rare. The chef cooked perfectly but I’m questioning quality of the beef or it’s been frozen. <br/><br/>Like the other reviewers the waiting time it’s ridiculous, almost 40 mins till we get our main, while there’s not even many people. <br/><br/>Can I just say meat and wine is doing a lot better ?

Had a Good Food gift card that was about to expire so I searched for any brunch options nearby. While the search functionality on the gfgc website isn't great, I did manage to find Juno & May, a beautiful cafe on Burke Road in the always popular Camberwell Junction area. Left: Chai LatteQuite a bitter chai, for those that like their chaia bit more hot, in terms of spice, with lots of tumeric and cinnamon on top.Right: Banana MilkshakeI wasn't a fan. It's always hit and miss with milkshakes for me.Hit - when they use natural flavouring or flavoured ice-creamMiss - when they use artificial topping flavours.

Local eatery with accolades on the wall.<br/>They are now out of date.<br/>Beef cheek very small on a bed of watery mash potatoes and a few broccoli stalks.<br/>Seafood boulabaise mainly mussels and Israeli couscous with a tiny amount of sauce in the bottom of the bowl. Certainly not a Boulabaise.<br/>I had to request a spoon! $32+ each dish, more a pub meal than a cafe/restaurant .<br/>Certainly better places in the area.

We had to wait 1 hour and a half to get our food and once we got it, it was so over priced and hyped up. It was barely mediocre. Georges across the road is a much safer bet

Juno and May. All around solid. <br/>In particular the tagliatelle was very good. Had a balanced creaminess to the gamey taste of the rabbit. Also well plated (as were all the other dishes though).<br/>The duck slightly sweet, not over though. <br/><br/>The coffee wasn't stand out, but was fine on it's own. Smooth. <br/><br/>A bit pricey, but highly satisfying. Not bad.

Was quiet when we arrived. We ordered the banquet pack. Entrees came out quick then we were forgotten about. Ribs had no meat on them and our mains took over an hour to arrive, the waitress did recognise but no free dessert or apology. They seem to have no problem me drinking glass after glass wine and handed me a bill of $180 for two people. Won’t be back anytime soon.

A supreme disappointment.<br/><br/>Positives: well the pork and chicken baos were ok.<br/><br/>Negatives: the main and entree took over an hour to get to our table, which is ridiculous. And once it hit our table there was no apologies for it taking that long. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy.<br/>The pork belly was average, so not worth the one hour wait, and overpriced given what it was. <br/>The ribs were below average, there was barely any meat on them, and it took a bit of effort to get the meat off (whereas you would typically expect meat for ribs to be falling off the bone). My gf made the comment that we’ve had better ribs from woolies which was totally true.<br/>Won’t be returning, given the one hour wait. They also forgot to bring the fries we ordered, but we weren’t prepared to wait around another hour for them to bring those out.

Juno & May is a nicely fitted out restaurant in Camberwell. We started off with the pork sliders which were pretty epic and full of flavour. The pasta was yummy, however a fraction oily for our liking. Service was good, with staff continually checking on how the evening was going. We would go back again.
Olivia
Steak was unevenly cooked (nice on one side but raw and chewy on the other), and was quite bland. It said "char-grilled" on the menu but I couldn't taste it. We also ordered the gnocchi, which was well-cooked.<br/><br/>Main letdown was the service. We sat around for about 30 mins after finishing our food, trying to find a waiter so we can order coffee and dessert. The waiter didn't even look at us. We eventually gave up and left without ordering anything else.<br/><br/>I think perhaps they were understaffed on this day. There seemed to only be 2 people working. Would recommend coming back during busier hours when they have more staff.

Stopped in here on way back from a busy morning house hunting, not planned it was just where we got a park and we were not disappointed! It was fabulous, creative menu with cuisines from all over the world, coffee was great, staff were great, ambiance cozy n lovely! A pleasant surprise, will be back! Had the tapioca calamari with green papaya salad n hubby had morrocan chicken sandwich, both delicious.
Melbourne Epicure
Juno & May was ok. The venue itself was nice but the music choice (a bit modern poppy stuff) seemed a bit odd for the venue and crowd. It’s actually got a full bar and other sections but for a mid-week work lunch <br/>I just sat towards the front. Staff was nice.<br/><br/>In terms of the food, I was a bit puzzled at the presence of coconut curries and a “spicy salmon sushi bowl” at what I thought was meant to be a bit more of a European inspired menu… I’m not a fan when restaurants want to do it all… cater for everyone… Anyway, I was already there so I just asked… I went with the slow cooked lamb shoulder and gnocchi (which was my host's recommendation). It was OK. The lamb itself was nice and the bit of sugo was appreciated though it all needed a touch of salt to lift it up. The kale was an interesting addition but it worked. The gnocchi themselves though, could have used a bit of love. I few more seconds on a hotter pan to give them a touch of color (only like 1 or 2 had a tiny lightly golden crust). Coffee was good. Everything was OK.

For an all round experience of great food and good service, Juno and mayo is a must try!<br/>We tried : <br/> Pork belly with fried rice and chilli jam sauce, as a Bork belly lover I must say this pork belly was up there with the fine dinning restaurant as to how well it was cooked! Tender meat and crispy crackling! The fried rice ball and kang -kung leaves added texture while the chilli jam sauce rounded up everything together. <br/>The chicken salad was a large portion size and was well balanced. Flavours were YUM! <br/>The steak was the slightly underwhelming dish of the night even though it was cooked well the rest of the dish was a bit bland and boring! <br/>The absolute highlight of the night was Henry’s soft centred chocolate cake which had just the right amount of sauce to cake ratio. <br/>The staff were very friendly and efficient so all in all this place is a must try!

I have eaten here a number of times. the food is on the creative side and flavours are usually spot on. good size portions (slightly large for me) and good value. service has always been a little bit scatty here, but I'm always willing to overlook that for a good chef.

Had the rabbit tagliatelle - tasty and surprisingly generous in its size. Staff were attentive and really nice, but boy was the manager rude. Had a charging mix up at the end, my dish was $24.90 on the menu but $26.90 on the system. I let them know - wasn’t mad, just confused. The staff member who had put it through was really nice about it, but the manager who authorised giving me the $2 back was ridiculous - grabbing the coin from the till and shoving it into my hand without a word or a look, even after I said thank you for your help. <br/><br/>Food was good but out of principle I can’t go back with that sort of experience. Thank goodness it was an Entertainment Book lunch.

Visited this place last week, after being sat down with a menu placed in front of us, we were asked “would you like still or sparkling water” I responded with sparkling as I prefer it and was under the impression it was on tap like a lot of restaurants do. He then brought out a bottle of sparkling water and added it to my bill. Shifty if you ask me and has definitely dampened my opinion on the place. If someone wants to order sparkling water and pay $7 then let me make that decision instead of catching them off guard and leading them to believe there’s an option of either still or sparkling water available as “table water”. <br/>The service was so-so, short and straight to the point and food was average.

We came here for our late lunch on the weekend. <br/>First impressions- this cafe/bar/restaurant quite spacious inside, looked modern, cozy and clean.<br/>We had lattes, cappuccino, and hot chocolate for drinks, and unfortunately, even though the latte was smooth, it was very weak. Same thing as the cappuccino, but the hot chocolate was alright. <br/>We ordered the 'Biggie' , Chipotle Chicken Burger, Tagliatelle, and Roast Duck Thai Curry for our meal. The Thai curry duck was lovely. The snow peas, sweet potato and crispy egg on the sides worked well and tasted so good on my plate. The pasta with rabbit meat was great and well seasoned. <br/>However, the chicken breast on the chicken burger was very bland, and the biggie was average. Nothing extraordinary was to be found in these two.<br/>Will come back to try their dinner menu someday. <br/>Service was very friendly and the staff was attentive. <br/>

JM is quite an experience. The service staff are quite professional, almost curt, but the food is amazing and well worth your hard earned :)

Good food - calamari was tender balanced nicely with crunchy pickled green papaya; marinated Moroccan chicken was tender and juicy. Polite staff, good service. Prompt service. Could linger on after our lunch.

Came here on Groupon voucher and had the vegetarian gnocchi and spinner crab spaghetti. Both dishes were nice but not much toppings particularly the dinner ceB dish.

Good food, but slightly scant on the portion size (probably okay for lighter eaters). Interesting menu, fair prices and beautiful atmosphere. It did take longer than I expected that it should, to be served, considering how few people there were when I went, but I’m open to return visits.

A spacious place that serves brunch food that was simple yet satisfying. The place was very busy so getting the waiters’ attention was quite challenging. <br/><br/>My friend and I had the smokin’ hash. I wished it was more filling but it tasted good nonetheless.
Gavin Padayachee
Went in to get lunch and waited at the sign that said please wait here to be seated and no one came to seat me. Eventually I walked to the bar/coffee area and got the attention of someone and asked if I can have a seat and choose to sit at the window. She told me menus are in the box. I sat down and looked at the menu and waited for someone to take my order. Approx 15 minutes went by with no one coming to take my order so I decided to leave and get served somewhere else.

Sunday 10 December 2017 at 1.30pm. <br/>A surprisingly stylish and large restaurant instead a basic facade. <br/>Juno and May was a pleasant cafe. <br/>The coffee was nice ☕️ ☕️ <br/>We had the Rumble Tumble egg 🍳 & Sweet Potato Fritters 🍠 - both enjoyable and tasty meals 😊<br/>
Johanna Nesbitt
The 3 staff members working on the night of the 7 December were unattentive and it was extremely difficult to get table service. Perhaps young & inexperienced. <br/>No salt and pepper on the table and no steak knives offered with the scotch fillet.<br/>Overall disappointing service. Food was delicious especially the Henry's chocolate pudding.

Visited Juno & May today for lunch after seeing some impressive looking food pics of their dishes on Instagram. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with the quality of their food, they were generally on the bland side. And the chicken in the salad was completely dried and hard to swallow. Coffee took a while to arrive after ordering, and they had bitter burnt taste.<br/>For a venue that sits a decent amount of people, they had only 2 waiting staff looking after all customers, one of which focused pretty much only on coffee and drinks while the only other waitress did all the running around. <br/>Will not be returning again, definitely not value for money.

I really liked the old pancakes, but the new ones aren’t too bad. Hoping they change back. Service is always good and really friendly. Such a reliable place for breakfast

Loved it. Service was impeccable, the menu options and specials leave plenty to choose from. Try the home made chicken dumplings or the bruschetta for entree. The Salmon wrapped in banana leaves was superb. The duck red curry was great....the portion sizes were so big we will have to come back again to try dessert. Good selection of wines to choose from.

Go for Tuesday’s as they have half priced pizza. Not much options but nonetheless I wanted the vegetarian one (the green). It was delicious as the pizza base is perfect for my likings: soft crunchy ness and thin based. You absolutely must try! Is on their menu everyday. But, the highlight must go to their special board. I have added the picture as the description was too long... is actually fish of the day, typical salmon, but the way the cooked it was Thai-Viet fusion. Salmon was cooked to perfection, but wrapped in a banana leaf with spicy peanut sauce was to die for!!!! My partner had that and she gave praise every bite she took! So was I. I had told them to include as a daily menu so you can try, but will see. All else came with it is normal, but added the sauces was amazing!!

Food is well presented but isn't overly nice. Service is very, very quick. Bit too noisy for my liking... mostly business meetings and the like taking place across the weekday. Prefer a more relaxed vibe.

Meetings then onto errands and lunch at Juno and May. There's a bar! This place goes from brunch to dinner! Located on main street it's easy to get to and I see it being a popular weekend spot. With an extensive menu from brunch to dinner, there's plenty to choose from. So many different seating areas! From tables to booths.

Stumbled upon this restaurant which looks more like a cafe. Walked in expecting to pay full price to only realised that they are on entertainment book. Ordered beef cheek and pasta with rabbit meat. Both were really good.<br/><br/>The soft centre chocolate pudding was really good - not too sweet. Overall a good meal.

> Sweet potato, chorizo & gouda fritters w. avocado, two<br/>poached eggs, romesco sauce AND Farmyard granola w. Mango panna cotta & seasonal fruit <<br/><br/>Juno and May is a very welcoming and home like café in the heart of Camberwell. They have really delicious and hearty food, and the staff are really friendly! <br/><br/>As a self titled fritter expert, I believe these are ones to try if you’re a fritter lover! They have so much flavour and are presented amazingly. The texture is a little rough, however, the poached eggs help smooth out the texture and add more flavour to this dish. The main flavour that is present in this dish is the sweet potato and the chorizo, both of which are really delicious and work so well together. Overall, this dish is incredible and very unique to this café as the combination is nothing like what any other café does!<br/><br/>The granola dish was an interesting concept as it combined a traditional granola, with a panna cotta. Nonetheless, the flavours were amazing and everything worked so well together. The granola had a really nice sweet flavour and the milk poured over the top softened the texture to make it really feel like a breakfast dish. The consistency of the panna cotta was not too hard but not too soft. The flavours were a little dull, however, the granola and seasonal fruit evened this out and didn’t overpower each other. <br/><br/>Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here and would recommend trying this place out if you’re looking for a more home cooked meal style café, rather than a typical Melbourne café.<br/><br/>The breakfastpiggy team<br/><br/>Piggies out, Oink oink 🐷🐷

I’ve found it hard to rate the place. It’s got all the right elements ... good staff... it’s always clean......good customer service...great feel .... awesome food options, however it just never seems to be able to put it all together. I’ve had some great meals but bad service. I’ve had great service but terrible food. The one thing that I do find consistent is the coffee. Its pretty poor. My milk is always burnt. The coffee is always bitter and it always burns my mouth when I drink it as it’s sooooo hot. It’s not a bad place or anything but it just can’t seem that put it all together to give you a great all round experience. It’s certainly better as s restaurant than it is a cafe. I won’t give up on this place just yet but it may get be a while between drinks
Will
We used to go here weekly, it has gone so far downhill. They burn milk in coffees and the service takes forever. In a spot spoilt for choice with cafes, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.
Laine Lee
Lovely cafe but flat white without the latte art on a not so busy day. It was after 2pm. Food was nice but the portion served was a bit tad too small for the price tag. Friendly service.

Finally a brunch spot on Burke Road! Close to transport and near the shops. Went here for the first time for breakie. Overall had a good experience, but could find more value for money elsewhere. <br/><br/>Food: Had a muffin and coffee as I wasn't feeling peckish. But my friends eggs and toast was good, but she mentioned the eggs to be bland. The muffin was soft and warm and was offered butter on the side. Coffee was good but smaller than the usual, and pricier than the average small cup.<br/><br/>Service:<br/>Staff were friendly and served us promptly, offered butter on the side of muffin and overall were very nice and sweet.<br/><br/>Ambience: Very well lit cafe with great interior. The place was very pretty and a huge revamp from the resturant before. Decor was simple but stylish.

I was pretty excited to try this cafe after reading some good feedback from other diners. We unfortunately did not enjoy our meal at all - and both me and my partner ordered the same dish!! We ordered the 'char grilled' calamari salad . The calamari was the most unappealing and so chewy that we struggled to bite through it. The flavour was not chargrilled and the pieces were large and slimy and tough - we definitely felt like we wasted our money ! It was not a pleasant dish and we sat there just feeling disappointed. I hope this dish doesn't get served to customers because it was not enjoyable besides the salad. <br/>Staff were friendly
Chloe
Had a leisurely breakfast here after strolling through the Sunday market. The service was quick and nice. My friend and I ordered the Juno burger with chips, the waitress gently double confirmed our order. The food came so quickly, it was so delicious especially the juicy wagyu. Also the size of burger was perfectly fine for asian as well haha. I am sure I will visit here again!
Olivia
Despite its enviable location and fitout, I found the service here to be patchy and the food inconsistent on the times I've visited. The worst (and last straw) was when I noticed little pieces of spaghetti in my glass of water! Certainly makes me question the standards and thoroughness of cleaning procedures at this establishment.
JuliaW
Had a coffee and hot chocolate with my daughter today. First visit and was great coffee and very friendly staff. One staff member was very kind to my young daughter. Thank you , we will definitely be back for a meal.

excellent latte 👍🏽, very nice service, a lil bit pricey, $4 for small latte, but its worth it. Definitely will come again for a latte.....

The atmosphere was great and welcoming. That's the only good thing I can say unfortunately. <br/>My friend and I waited for approximately 10 minutes to get our order taken yet nobody came to us. It says a lot when I literally had to goto the counter and ask for my order to be taken. <br/>The worst part was my meal, the burger was dry, plain and flavourless. <br/>I'm disappointed by it.

Stopped in for a quick coffee and a muffin before work and this place didn't disappoint <br/>Great coffee and the apple and walnut muffin was very good
Lily
I have been here a few times - I'm so glad there's finally somewhere decent to dine at on Burke Road! I had the calamari salad (with nuoc nam on the side, as I like it) and it didn't disappoint! The calamari pieces were tender and grilled to perfection; and the salad was tame and refreshing. I thought the nuoc nam needed more punch - it lacked the acidity (from limes) and saltiness (from fish sauce) so I was so glad I asked for my dressing on the side! My friend had blue spanner crab spaghettini which she reported to be delicious, however lack fleshy crabmeat. (We both remembered the previous occasions - there were way more pieces of spanner crab than today)!
Rewin
Service: Pleasant and quick - this is where the positive comments end. <br/>Coffee: below average <br/>Food: Ordered the Apricot and Fig toast (2slices), which arrived to me as 1.5 slices :/ & it had about a couple of raisins in it - FAIL!<br/><br/>Won't be returning here again.
Sass
The scallops, freekah salad and butter chicken were faultless - its a shame the dessert was well below acceptable. Surely waffles are a fool proof go to dessert. The night seemed a little stressful for the understaffed crew - given how stretched there were the service was friendly and accomodating. I'll be back as I like the casual vibe.
Cavendish
Have come for dinner and brunch now and enjoyed both visits. Service is quick and friendly. Spaghettini with blue swimmer crab was highlight of dinner. For brunch, had the smokin' hash with salmon but on this day, the cauliflower croquette wasn't available with it - a tad disappointing but still delicious. Will return to try more from the menu.

Funky little cafe/restaurant in the heart of Camberwell. One of my favourite Sunday after-market brunch spots, if you can get a seat! The staff are lovely and the menu has a lot of options; all good quality products. Decor is very cute and it's handy that there are large tables available for bigger groups. The coffee is meh, but the smoothies are delish. Thanks Juno & May!
I Love Food
Dined here last night as a group of 3. The menu sounds<br/>amazing so was really looking forward to trying this place. For entrée we<br/>shared the house made chicken dumplings, crispy chicken bao and market fish<br/>ceviche – WOW – all 3 of these dishes were full of flavour and delicious. For<br/>main we shared the large plate of beef rendang curry – whilst the beef was soft<br/>and melted in your mouth it was far from a large plate – not a very large quantity<br/>at all and not much rice – when we halved the dish between the 2 of us, didn’t<br/>actually get much so for the price tag it wasn’t good value – recommend larger serves<br/>if your calling your dishes a large plate. This was the only small let down of<br/>the night. We shared some plain roti bread which was also very hot and<br/>fresh/tasty. For dessert we shared the choc soft centred pudding and it was<br/>delicious and super gooey. Save room for this one, it’s worth it. Our friend is<br/>a vego and she enjoyed the vego dumplings, sweet potato fritters and roti with<br/>curry sauce which they could do as a vego version. So overall we had a great<br/>night. Tasty food and friendly/prompt service and we were lucky enough to get a<br/>front door car park – only suggestion is make your large plate of beef rendang<br/>larger as not big enough to share between 2 people. Hope to return and try<br/>other dishes from your delicious sounding menu. This place is also on the<br/>entertainment book gold card so nice discount at the end of a good night.

Gorgeous cafe!! Loved the interior and the story behind it that was explained on the wall. Our food was delicious although our waiter wasn't very knowledgable, could be new? Otherwise loved it

Sweet potato fritters and Iced coffe.<br/>Well presented food, the poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the fritters had a crispy coating with well mashed sweet potato center. Iced coffee was accompanied with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, that really excentuated the flavours.<br/>The staff were extreemly accommodating, they were observiative enough to offer to change to my fellow diner's iced coffee to exclude ice cream and substitute with soy milk as she had soy milk with her burch muesli, and with this change they also provided a discount.<br/>But the key stand out was with my dad, he was light headed and about to faint. They brought him a pillow to rest his head and directed us to the nearest medical centre.

This is a chic and modern cafe in Burke Road. The interior is quite classy, and features smart timber tables and retro chairs, benches and stools offering street views, and several booths along an elongated dining space. The service was friendly and attentive – I was provided water and menu upon being seated. The décor is smart and includes decorative wall planters. Some funky beats played softly in the background. There were some vegetarian menu items on a reasonably interesting menu. I had fruit toast, which was very nice, and well presented, with a dusting of icing sugar and a strawberry garnish .The coffee was also very good. This café stands out along that stretch of Burke Road, and is worth dropping by.
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
Growing up in the country on a cattle farm in South Australia, Henry Honner and his five siblings had different priorities when it came to spending their pocket money. Henry’s was to get a new TV. As a deal with their father, the purchase of two new dairy cattle – Juno and May – were the cash cows who would bring the dream home after mornings and afternoons spent milking.

Some good, solid modern Australian fare. The interior was open, with both tables and nice large booths that boasted loads of table room for dishes. Great to see at a tapas restaurant. The decor was quite pleasant also. Had a few selections from the 'street food' menu first up, and both were great. The scallops were excellent, beautiful texture and flavour, heightened by the cauliflower purée. The apple nam jim didn't overpower the more subtle scallop flavour either which was slightly surprising. The buttermilk fried chicken with chipotle mayo was great, and the buttermilk really added some great character to the batter. The chicken flesh was also soft and juicy, coming off the bone very readily. I enjoyed it significantly more than my last few Korean fried chicken experiences.<br/>The fish ceviche and lamb cutlets were next. The former was done in a very classic Mexican style. The diced fish had a nice, soft and moist quality; while the fresh tomato, citrus and avocado provided a fresh liveliness to the dish. Not mind blowing but pleasant. The latter was a good bit of lamb--it was tender and relied nicely on its own flavour, as well a great charcoal character. Finally came our three large dishes. The char-grilled 16 hour beef ribs were not bad. I just found them to be a bit too stringy, and found the overall flavour to be less than satisfactorily balanced between the meatiness and the sweetness. The crispy fish fillet was a nice dish. The fish was soft and flavourful, while the prawns were good. These sat on a bed of young coconut, pickled crab, chili, lime, rice noodles and pickled cucumber. I enjoyed this quite a bit, but it does sound better than it actually is. I felt these flavours to be at odds with the subtle, slightly buttery fish too. The spaghettini was probably the best of the larges. All the flavours culminated nicely for an overall light, tasty feel. I liked the level of zestiness and herbiness accompanying the seafood flavour. When done as a large dish, I would prefer it to be done with larger spaghetti pasta though. <br/>We were here on a Thursday night, and I really think they could have done with an extra staff member. The two that were serving had too much trouble in ensuring that sufficiently timely service was provided, although they were quite professional.

Drinks took too long to come and it wasn't that busy. The pineapple juice was disappointing as it was very sugary and not good quality. Other than that food was great!

Juno & May is easily located on Burke Road, just a short stroll from Camberwell Station. The interior is quite spacious, with a small semi-private area near the back as well as a large function room upstairs. We had a larger group tonight so decided on the Chef’s Tasting Menu.<br/><br/>The staff were friendly, but the service had some room for improvement. The first few dishes were brought out one after the other, but as we had time to finish each course before the next arrived, the empty plates were not cleared straight away and we ended up with a couple of empty ones while we were having the third course. We also had to ask for more water after the bottles ran out quite quickly.<br/><br/>The restaurant wasn’t packed, but it was busy at the front of the restaurant. We had initially booked the function room, but because we did not have the full capacity of diners, we were seated in the semi-private area, which was noisier than we would have liked as we could hear the loud chatter from the main area.<br/><br/>Check out the review of Juno & May in the blog post below.

We ordered two coffees to go. The barista accidentally made them for a have here instead. Honest mistake and when I said don't worry just put that into a takeaway cup as you can't really take notice when the lid is shut, they insisted that a good cup of coffee irrespective of being have here or takeaway deserves the respect of being made for that cup alone. Good call... but that aforementioned experience was NOT Juno & May but at another cafe in the next suburb.<br/><br/>Instead what happened was the opposite. We ordered two coffees to go, en route to the Camberwell Sunday Market. It was still fairly early and the place wasn't even busy. Firstly they took ages to make the coffee and when they finally did, it was made to have here at it was sitting on the counter for a bit. Upon realising the coffees were for takeaway, the barista just popped them into takeaway cups. To be honest I was more annoyed with the wait (have been to places where it's super packed and yet you don't have to wait long for coffee). However it was only at the other cafe when I experienced the proper service that put things into perspective.  <br/><br/>This is my last time buying coffee from these guys and if this is a reflection of their attitude, I don't even want to go near their food.

Lovely venue to have a 1st Birthday. We were seated in a small private function room upstairs. A 3 course meal was the set menu for the luncheon and the selection was quite good. The highlights were the fish pie croquettes, the beef ribs and Henry's favourite chocolate pudding was so delicious.

There's nothing better than a restaurant in melbourne that smashes breakfast, lunch and dinner! From truffled scrambled eggs for breakfast to delicious fresh salads for lunch and tender lamb for main meal- we are yet to have a dish at Juno that has disappointed (and we've been multiple times). Desserts and cocktails are fantastic too!

For a Saturday morning, this place was far from busy. Parking in the area isn't fantastic and it's not overly noticeable from the street, unless you're walking past. Inside it's really pretty and spacious. I've been at an event upstairs previously and that was lovely for a small group.<br/><br/>Today we came for breakfast and ordered the pancakes and the corn & zucchini fritters. The fritters come with either salmon or bacon and we opted for bacon. At first I thought the fritters weren't cooked through, but it's just they're quite cheesy. They were pretty tasty and came with a generous serving of smashed avocado.<br/>The pancakes were a touch on the sweet side, but also really were delicious. They had a crispy edge which made all the difference.<br/><br/>As a whole, I'm a bit indifferent - the food was great, but nothing out of the ordinary and the service was friendly, but just a little slow at times. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. If someone suggested to come here again, I'd still go but there are lots of places in the area that offer something different. I'm interested to see how it differs for a dinner service.

Waiting... waiting.... waiting. It's 12 noon on a relatively quiet Derby Day Saturday and we have been waiting for over thirty minutes for food. Scant attention - no checking in by staff for another coffee as they are too busy chatting at the counter. Other hungry diners looking equally morose. Just about ready to walk....<br/><br/>Food arrives and it is - almost - worth the wait. Service, however, continues to be half arsed. We have to mount a search for napkins, salt and pepper.<br/><br/>Get some fire burning under the plentiful service staff and this place would be well worth a return visit as the food is good.

I love a good neighbourhood restaurant. The atmosphere is usually a lot cosier, pace relaxed, friendly and smilier than CBD outlets…and the parking is super easy. . Juno & May, located in Camberwell on Burke Road is all of the above plus some wicked good modern Australian grub. The restaurant is actually named after two cows that chef Henry Honner and his brother would milk, before and after school, to save enough money for a TV back in the day! The place definitely doesn’t look anything like a farm, but the food does focus on quality local produce.

The food and coffee here is amazing, i only wish they had more variety on the menu, especially for non meat eaters. The service is also rather good, as is the layout of the restaurant (various areas for dining).

Best zukini fritters on this side of town! <br/>French toast with panacotta was amazing! Couldn't fault it.<br/>Coffee was good, service was attentive.

Lovely looking venue closely located near Camberwell Station. Seated at a table in the back half of the cafe so it was very hard to get waiters attention and water was not offered upon arrival like most places. In terms of brunch offerings, nothing outstanding, stock standard Melbourne brunch items like smashed avocado, corn fritters, granola with yogurt and pancakes. They did have on offer Asian items. Corn fritters whilst generous serving size, were a tad over cooked and lacked seasoning. Quinoa salad was stock standard. Broiche French toast was nice with exception of peanut brittle which was too hard. Curry dish lacked spicyness and curry flavour. Gado gado was the most disappointing dish, coconut satay sauce was made using commercial peanut butter, roti was from a packet you can find at most groceries, lacked flakiness, poached eggs best part of dish, seasonal vegggies of carrot, Brussel<br/>Sprouts and squash were well cooked but didn't add anything to the dish. Coffee was weak and chai latte overly sweet and lacking chai spices. Overall, a nice venue if you're able to get a table at the front half of the restaurant with generous portion sizes. However, elements of dishes didn't seem to go together well, lacked overall seasoning and overuse of raw watercress on most dishes.

Juno & May provides an Asian inspired twist to Modern Australian cuisine.  Their food is centred around sharing plates combining great value with fulfilling meal and a slice of something new.  I also love the back story to Juno & May. The original Juno and May were dairy cows from owner/chef, Henry Honer's youth. Growing up in a large family on a cattle farm in the 1970s, Henry and his siblings sorely lacked a TV. His brother convinced his dad to buy two dairy cows which they would milk before and after school daily to save the family enough money in milk to afford a TV. Along came Juno and May.

Went here for a birthday dinner of one of my friends 30ths. The vibes when we walked in was great & I loved the decor. Although when we went upstairs to the function room it was a totally different feel and didn't carry the same feel as downstairs. Besides this the food was great- I had lamb for entree which was delicious. Had pork belly for the main and it was good but I didn't like how they had salad with brocilinni. These flavors were a bit odd

September 2016<br/><br/>Juno and May are the names of the two cows! :)<br/><br/>Popped in for a casual dinner on a Friday night. Ordered one large and two small plates for the two of us and that was sufficient.<br/><br/>Reasonably priced for the location and can't fault the service. <br/><br/>Love the hanging pot plants.<br/><br/><br/>December 2017<br/><br/>New menu from October 2017. <br/>Popped in for a late brunch on a Saturday. This place can do no wrong!<br/><br/>The Mediterranean Breakfast Board was a new addition and it was an interesting and delicious combination. <br/><br/>Also tried the Sautéed Gnocchi this time. It was like eating nuggets of pleasure!<br/><br/>Have been here a number of times and would have given them 5 star every time. <br/><br/>Keep it up guys!<br/>

I popped in and had the bread and butter pudding and a coffee. The pudding was delicious one of the best I've had in Melbourne fantastic panna cotta ice cream and terrific bread and butter pudding as well as caramelized walnuts ; the service was excellent the coffee little weak a little cold. It had a nice New York Vibe definitely the right mix 4 Camberwell a little bit formal but not too much definitely recommend the pudding
The Food Society
Juno and May have transformed a large complex space into a series of areas with different textures. The bright light, light stained wood brunch front leads to the luxurious dark back area, with a great high function area above. We dropped in at night to taste their asian inspired dinner menu. Anyone who has Asian parents, or perhaps just a strong affinity for Asian culture and cuisine will understand the bravery required to chase Asian fusion. With flavours and recipes balanced and refined over generations, it can end up in a mock parody, cutting a broad swathe through flavours missing subtleties and flourishes only a local would notice. Not so here.

Nice trendy place. Big. Food sounded quite interesting on the menu but when it came out it looked ordinary. So for ordinary, small portion food, it's a little expensive.
Sweet Chilli
Food was good but not that appealing to look at. I had the gado gado breakfast it didnt look great and the seasonal veg looked a little dull. Perhaps the peanut sauce could have been served on the side, some bean shoots added may have made it look a little more authentic and interesting. My friend had the french toast which was very sweet and very cake like. It was very dense and heavy but ok and needed a couple of coffees to complement it. Perhaps it was our meal choices this time round. It was great to try a new place in Camberwell, I'll visit again but would try the burgers they looked delicious with fries on the side.

Juno & May opens in Camberwell, with an endearing back story. Do you remember the times you saved  pocket money for the latest fad? Perhaps, a tamagotchi or the ancient nokia 3310? When Juno & May were lil’ ones, they wanted a TV more than anything in the world. Growing up on a farm, milking the cow after school,  earned enough money for Dad to buy a TV. The entrepreneurial spirit, continues into adulthood. Now, its about saving money for a restaurant. Naturally, the fairy tale has a happy ending, with Juno & May opening in Camberwell. The farm aspect, translates to Juno & May’s menu, with Victorian produce featuring heavily.

Food 0.5 - terrible! 😭 the lamb had a really strong smell , the dish was plain & tasteless... Please, if you can't do it well, remove it from your menu! Such a waste of $23😭😭<br/><br/>Service 0.5 - average <br/><br/>Decors 1.5 - really nice!

Juno and May is a welcome site in Camberwell. It has created a modern restaurant and menu, that is not to extravagant. The wagyu burger was perfectly cooked, with the bread not falling apart with to much liquid. The chips where crispy and the almond latte was delicious. My partner had the pancakes, which were light and fluffly, though the maple mascarpone had no maple flavour. Overall though, the pancakes were the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. The meals were fantastic, without being to overwhelmingly big and it is a perfect spot for brunch or lunch.

As one of six kids growing up on a cattle farm there were a few things Henry Honner didn’t have compared to the city kids. Though according to his older brother, it was a TV set that was the real sore point. Thankfully that same brother struck a deal with Henry’s dad. He calculated that if the family bought two dairy cows and milked them before and after school each day, he would save the family enough money in milk, to afford a TV.
Hello. Imnikki
That awkward moment at breakfast when you realise you can't finish even half of what's on your plate and start debating whether you should just leave it or ask for it to be bagged up. Not wanting to let delicious food go to waste, we left Juno & May extremely full, sufficiently caffeinated and with 3 slices of toasts in hand. Be warned, the Rumble Tumble came with 3 slices of toast, a mountain of scrambled eggs and enough bacon to make you go oink. Definitely value for money. Ambiance and service were lovely, but couldn't beat the choice of music for the time of the day - downtempo one minute, lounge the next and a bit of chillout thereafter. I was ready to order some alcohol to go with my breakfast.

Set in the gorgeous location of Camberwell, Juno & May is a fantastic spot for a date night or a catch up with good friends/family. I'd highly recommend the 5 Spice Duck and the Chicken Bahn Mi Slider (pictured). Both are divine and will ensure you'll be back again. The staff are super friendly and extremely approachable, which makes a huge difference in my books. Will definitely be back!

Went there on a weekend for dinner. It was a little gamble for us as this is quite new restuarant. We had the 6 course tasting menu, the food was delicious. Dim Sim was ok, the fish and duck was full of flavours. Dessert was the best. Service was great, all waitress and waiters were very friendly with big smiles. The atmosphere was good with soothing music and the place was clean. I would love to go again.

Quite nice deco, pleasant atmosphere. Food was not bad. Ribs were juicy, crab spaghetti was tasty, fish was ok, bread butter pudding also not bad. However, the waiter was a little clueless... he got our main out before entree and gave us plates for dessert without forks or spoons..... errr were we supposed to eat with our hands?? Lol

A good experience. The food is good! Noise really travels though, so it can be quite loud.<br/><br/>We ordered the lamb Moroccan curry and the scotch fillet (on special). The steak, topped with mushrooms, spinach and mashed potato, was juicy and cooked perfectly. The flavours of the Moroccan curry popped in our mouths. Delicious!

Nice fit out. We were made welcome by very attentive staff. We ordered various egg dishes with smashed pumpkin or avocado. The blue swimmer crab pasta was pronounced a success while I had the Beetroot house smoked salmon with Beetroot, goats cheese, roasted Beetroot rosti and greens. Very good. The wines by the glass were on the expensive side but were good. A good experience Will return.
Vic In Mel
Had the $50 tasting menu (6 courses), food great enjoyed every course, the ribs especially. Time between courses was a little long as we were only a party of two, but the food made up for it. Will go back again I am sure.

Don't know what's happened in the kitchen here lately, but the food has gone from really good to great. <br/>Crab spaghettini are delicious as is lamb, duck & calamari dishes.<br/>But that chocolate fondant is what you keep coming back for.<br/>Service is frosty as it's always been, even being a local on repeated visits. Need to lift their game in this area.

Amazing breakfasts and delicious coffee to boot. I have also been here for dinner which was not bad either, perhaps a little bit on the pricier side though.

Breakfast of Truffled Eggs. Substantial and excellent, nearly as good as those round the corner at Prospect before their fantastic chefs left. Great coffee and service.....definitely one for the Austar list!

Came here today for lunch and was happily surprised that we could still order breakfast! Settled on the fritters with poached eggs and Beetroot cured salmon, F had the quinoa salad, M had the lamb salad and U had the falafel wrap. Everything was absolutely delicious, eggs cooked perfectly, coffee delicious, falafel seasoned very well and not dry, lamb delicious and tender, can't really find any faults with the food at all! <br/>Staff were very accommodating to allergies and requests for small changes, happy to make recommendations, and everything came quickly once we'd ordered. <br/>Good jobs guys, we'll definitely be coming back :)

Great service and top notch coffee, sat outside to soak in some warm afternoon sun amongst the hustle and bustle of Burke Road. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Friend loved the interior deco and layout and we plan to come back for dinner one night. Can't wait, definitely will start coming more from now on.

Food was good but smaller portions, great vibe but bad service no one came to take the order and food took a long time to come to the table. May not go in again unless management takes action to rectify this issue.

Pros: cool vibe, friendly waiters, delicious spaghettini <br/>Cons: had to wait 10 minutes for menus and even then we had to go get them ourselves. Food took too long to come out even though the place wasn't that busy. The spaghettini was scrumptious and claimed to have crab but didn't have much of it for the price you pay. Everything was more or less self-serve. <br/>Overall: food was average, like any other cafe and service was shoddy. Don't think I'll be back here anytime soon.
Family Guy
Service sharp and friendly over two Friday dinner times. The food is well prepared and presented, and the wine list, although short, has been expertly selected. I'd suggest the markups on the wine are slightly ahead of the pack, but otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable meal.
