Had an amazing brunch at linger cafe! The cafe is set up in what looks like an old chapel and has super cosy feels. We ordered the mushroom French toast and corn fritters. Both were delicious. The French toast was actually really nice with the mushrooms, a slight sweetness amongst well seasoned mixed mushrooms. The fritters were also tasty and not too dry or oily. For dessert we had a choux and the white rabbit. Loved the passion fruit and components in the choux but the white rabbit was amazing. Picture white chocolate mousse set upon matcha crumble. Tasted as good as it looked. Overall a great experience and will definitely be back!

We chose Linger for a birthday brunch as we had won a competition through instagram for a dessert and voucher. We ordered coffees each to start. For our meals we had Pork belly, Smoked salmon, Fried chicken burger, mushroom French toast and Corn fritters. All the dishes were tasty. My pork belly was cooked nice and soft, although I would have liked a sauce to complement it. The desserts were also well presented and tasty. Service was friendly but we only found out at the end that the voucher could only be used in the next visit so 4/5

Tried the new summer menu at Linger and enjoyed all the dishes I ordered. We picked the French toast, black bun brekky burger and the soft shell crab with scrambled eggs.
The soft shell crab was definitely my favourite ! The croissant was super soft, butter and flaky and it was such a yummy combo with the eggs ! Would definitely recommend this dish if you ever visit 🄰

Coffee was also super smooth and creamy šŸ’“

Invited out for brekkie, Linger is located in an old 100 year old church. We tried the crab and prawn linguine pasta, smoked salmon potato rosti, cold brew and the lemon tree dessert.
The pasta was cooked al dente and the flavours from the crab and prawns were amazing. The potato rosti was nice and crispy and pumpkin puree was a great sweet balance to a savoury dish. Lastly the lemon tree dessert is a work of art. It is made up of many different components like popping candy, raspberry crisp and yuzu mousse to name a few. It is light, refreshing and just the right portion size.
Overall a stunning cafe with an amazing menu. The desserts are next level creative and taste as good as they look. Highly recommended

I was initially drawn to Linger because of their adorable patisserie I saw on Instagram, but their main dishes receive just as much recognition. I tried their fritters which are traditional in taste and presentation but feature a generous serve of avo and haloumi, which is a huge perk in my mind. But the favourite dish I tried was the really unique and incredibly custardy savoury french toast. It had lots of different textural elements and a hint of sweetness and perfect texture.

Of course, the visit wasn't complete without cakes. The watermelon cake piqued my interest, although I was sceptical. But the combo of cream and soft cake and fresh watermelon was very complementary and so refreshing. I also got a limited edition pumpkin cheesecake with a graham cracker crust that evoked a strong American nostalgia in me. It's only available for Halloween but I wish it was a permanent menu item.

To wash everything down, I got a coffee and tried my partner's matcha latte which we both agreed was one of the best we've had. Don't forget the amazing space, which is a former church, as well as the really nice service. All in all, great experience.

I came here just for a coffee, and it was great! Full flavour and just perfectly made. Staff is really friendly and the place looks amazing. As a former church/chapel it has the beautiful high ceilings and big windows so there's lots of space and light. Absolutely recommend to go here.

An interesting space! The quiet early weekend morning at Linger was just what we needed after a long busy week.
Kids free to roam free a little and experience their food without restriction.
Hubby had the mushrooms, served with French toast, an impressive plate but difficult to eat
I have poached eggs w halumi, beautifully cooked eggs and butter served with the toast.
Kids shared a scrambled eggs - big serve of the eggs and bacon but the toast was too crusty for little mouths.
We couldn’t come here without trying one of the little cakes - kids choice: the bunny, they loved eating its cute face and ears!

Me and my boyfriend were there for lunch on Sunday. The cafe decoration was so charming. We ordered
- the 12 hrs braised pork belly; the pork was cooked to perfection, soft and melt in your mouth meet with the crispy skin.
- Patisseries dessert was so pretty and yummy
Friendly service with lots of car park. I will definitely be back for more;)

Tldr: Whichever dessert you pick, you won't be disappointed. Each dessert is unique and cute. The food here also is great, especially the corn fritters which comes with a lot of smashed avocado.

Walk in and be greated by the lovely staff. The cafe itself is inside a 100 year old church and has a homely vibe.

If you're looking for soft yet semi crisp corn fritters, Linger cafe by far has one on the best. The ' Oh my darling corn ' is infused with dukka spice, topped with a slice of haloumi and served with a generous amount of smashed avocado.

The 'Take you to Tokyo '. A plate which has a slight decline and hold the yuzu emulsion which is fragrant. The dish has soba and mixed with shredded chicken and has a slight spiciness to it whilst contrasting with the seaweed.

The desserts were are always on par.

Each flavour has its own taste yet compliments each other. The little rabbit is made with the softest white chooclate mousse, filled with the most flavourful passionfrut jelly and chiffon sponge and lastly rested on a delicate match crumble.

The flower love is on the sweeter side with the peach jelly and chunks. The earl grey mousse balances it and bedded on a shortbread crumb.

This cafe is tucked away and hidden in the residential side of Camberwell but you walk in and its a cosy cafe and the setting is beautiful. Most importantly a great hearty menu with delicious food options well delivered. Of course you can't leave without desserts and cake. **Disclaimer: although the restaurant has generously invited me to their restaurant this review is still based on my genuine opinion.

This place is seriously stunning! A beautiful 100 year old church turned into a cafe. I brunched with a group of friends, and each of the meals we chose to order was food envy to each of us, so we just decided to share them all.

The dishes we shared were the mushroom french toast, braised beef cheeks, sweet corn fritter, chocolaty pancakes & the most cutest cakes I have ever seen. My favourite of the cakes was the Orange with hazelnut praline mousse, grapefruit filling, chiffon sponge and white chocolate dip. ItĀ was so creamy and satisfying.

Such amazing food & friendly service, I can’t wait to go back again.

We found this place off Instagram as many people were posting about their cute desserts, we had to check them out. Boy I was glad we did. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the boss and seated. The boss was super friendly and even allowed us to bring our takeaway coffee from another cafe into his cafe. The cake display was beautiful and we were spoilt for choice. Each individual cake was gorgeous to look at. We ordered the little pig, the mandarin orange and the pear. Each dessert was not only beautiful, it was exquisite in taste. The mandarin had fresh fruit mandarin chunks in it and the pear had pear puree in it. We were blown away by the multiple layers of textures and flavours in each dessert. We will be back for sure.

Came here on a Saturday. Off the main-road which makes it super easy for parking!

I must say I adore the space, which was a chapel before. High ceilings, simple decor. Ordered a piccolo to start with. Nice strong flavour with cute latte art.

Smashed Avo- poached eggs are nicely done with a great balance of avo, cherry tomato and beetroot puree
Mushroom French Toast- absolute love a savoury french toast. I enjoyed the toast a lot, almost looked a bit like tamago. Generous amount of mushroom with pumpkin puree, just the perfect combo ever! Also the bits of crispy kale gave the dish an extra lift!

Will be back for the lemon tree dessert and more to come!

Came as group of 3. Ordered salmon stack, beef cheek and fritters. Salmon stack wasn't that great. Hashbrown was not house made. Beef cheek was tasty and my friend enjoyed the fritters. We had the pear tart and watermelon cake which were both yummy and light. Great place for desert 😊

Linger Patisserie is famous for their realistic-looking and delicious creations by the talented pastry chef Vivian, and if you're ever in the area, you must drop by and give it a try. If you're feeling peckish, they also serve brekky and lunch dishes, but don't forget to save room for those gorgeous cakes.

My friends and I had our game plan all ready even before we arrived. 4 dishes to share, and 4 cakes to finish off our meal. We had the Chocolatey Pancakes, Mushroom French Toast, Braised Beef Cheek, and the Sweet Corn Fritters. I personally enjoyed the Beef Cheek the most, and it's not hard to see why. It was incredibly tender and fell apart with just a gentle touch. Deep and bold flavours, all while the lightness of the celeriac puree, tomatoes and green beans balanced out the rich meatiness of the beef cheek.

The Sweet Corn Fritters were crunchy morsels of yum, and the dukkah spices lent a piquancy to the fritters. The strong savoury bite of the halloumi cheese, and the creamy butteriness of the smashed avo made this a dish that ticked all the right boxes.

Being a fan of shrooms, and also the combination of sweet and savoury, I was quite fond of the Mushroom French Toast but my friends weren't too big a fan. Nevertheless, they praised the execution and taste of the individual components on the dish.

The Chocolatey Pancakes bought with it an explosion of flavours, and each ingredients on the dish complemented one another so well. The pancakes itself were a tad dry, but luckily for the generous serve of raspberry coulis and syrup.

We all had our own favourite when it came to the cakes, and mine was the Flower Love. The shortbread crumb added a lovely crunch to the delicate texture of the Earl Grey mousse and peach jelly, and also a hint of rich buttery flavour. The cakes here are all stunning, and it's impossible to just have one.

The coffee here are excellent, which act as the perfect accompaniment to the sweet treats that they have on offer. Thank you for having me!

I absolutely loved my visit to Linger Patisserie CafƩ. The cafe itself is very unique as it is housed in an old part of a 100 year old church, remnants of which can still be seen in the stained glass windows inside.

My main reason for coming was to try the incredible looking cakes created by pastry whiz Vivian, who was trained by Michelin-star pastry chefs in Paris, no less. But Linger does offer a full breakfast/lunch menu as well, which was also absolutely delicious.

We had the:
• Mushrooms French Toast - the French Toast was so thick and fluffy, and the sweetness from it and from the pumpkin purĆ©e paired so well with the earthy umami flavours of the mushrooms.
• Pork Belly - the pork belly was incredible tender as a result of it being braised for 12 hours, and the celeriac purĆ©e was like velvet.
• Breaky Burger - this was never going to be a bad choice in my books. Eggs. Bacon. Hash brown. What’s not to love.

Then the desserts. Oh the desserts! So delicate and light that I felt like I could have eaten a hundred of them. Almost too adorable to eat. We had the Mushroom Forest, White Rabbit and Orange. All of them had multiple layers of ingredients and flavours that complimented each other so well. My favourite was probably the Orange, as I felt that the grapefruit in there made it such a refreshing dessert.

I can’t wait to go back to try back all the other cakes that I missed out on this time!

An absolutely divine patisserie and cafe in a leafy back street of Camberwell, Linger is worth seeking out for a truly memorable brunch experience. In a beautiful old building, with gorgeous stained glass windows and homely touches all around, Linger has a welcoming ambience that encourages you to do as their name suggests... linger awhile.

I've been here many times, drawn in by the fabulous pastries which have Asian inspired flavours and designs, but classically French techniques; which together, are a match made in heaven. I love their signature white rabbit (so cute), but was tempted most recently by the little pig and the orange. Both were amazing in flavour and texture, with hidden layers of cake, mousse and jellies.

We also stayed for brunch, as the menu is mouth wateringly good. Fabulous fritters with haloumi, avocado, poached eggs and shaved beetroot was an amazing dish. The fritters were perfectly crisp with a delicious soft centre. So much flavour, and I find it difficult to pass up avo and poached eggs at brunch... such a great combo.

The chocolate pancakes was an amazing stack of fluffy pancakes with loads of berries, coulis, chocolate sponge, pistachio crumb, coyo and a side of icecream. This dish was just divine, and I really didn't want it to end. So decadent and indulgent, and a pancake lovers dream.

Presentation on both dishes was as impeccable as the pastries, and both just looked so appetising. Coffee and fresh juices were also delicious; and the service was outstanding, and the staff lovely and friendly. Linger is truly a hidden gem that has a fabulous reputation, and rightfully so. With it's relaxed and pretty atmosphere, fabulous food and service, and of course those perfect little pastries; Linger really is worth a visit or two.

Thank you for hosting us.

Linger is a gorgeous cafe quietly located away from the hustle and bustle of Camberwell. It is situated in a 100 year old church, so it’s honestly just breathtaking from the moment you step inside.

The cafe is run by Vivian, an extremely talented pastry chef with remarkable knowledge and experience from her studies and practice in Paris under Michelin-star chefs. She is incredibly humble and caring, and each of her desserts tells a moving story of her customers in this historical cafe.

It was a cold winter day and upon arrival we were seated under the blasting warm heater, and immediately we felt warm and cosy.

I ordered a warm Matcha Latte to start, and already knew that this was going to be an experience to remember. The matcha latte was perfect, and the balance of sweet and bitter was just right.

As we had already eaten before, we opted to try the desserts only (although the cafe menu does sound amazing too!). It was so hard to decide, but we ended up going for the Orange, Rabbit and Piggy, as well as the Lemon Tree and Mushroom Forest (available on weekends only).

Wow, I was honestly amazed by how good the dessert were - not only in presentation but in taste too. Each dessert was made up of many intricate components which all worked incredibly well together.

The Orange was probably my favourite, and it was highly recommended too. What really stood out for me was the unique texture - it was honestly the lightest and fluffiest mousse I’ve tried. The grapefruit filling gave a nice tang and citrus-y flavour which perfectly paired with the hazelnut praline mousse. What a delight!

The Rabbit was almost too cute to eat - although once you taste it you won’t be able to stop. It’s a white chocolate mousse filled with passionfruit jelly - and passionfruit is one of my favourite flavours so it this was sure to be something I’d love!

The Piggy was again almost too cute to eat! I loved the multiple layers of elements of different colours and textures, which were revealed once you slice it open. A sensational combination.

The Lemon Tree was perhaps the most creative dessert I’ve seen. It is, quite literally, a lemon ā€˜tree’, made of a chocolate twig and fairy floss. On the sides are two miniature ā€˜lemons’ which look way too realistic. I love sour flavours, so this was another of my favourites. The lemon was tart, and had a strong citrus taste not only from lemon but from yuzu too! The matcha crumble was addictive paired with the popping candy for a little surprise.

The Mushroom Forest was the final dessert we tried and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the strawberry compote and raspberry jelly paired with the cream cheese mousse, which was also very light and not too sweet. The chocolate soil added a nice crunchy element too.

Overall, we had an amazing experience trying the specialty desserts at Linger. I would highly recommend checking this cafe out if you’re in the area! I will definitely need to come back one day to try the rest of the cakes!

Thank you so much for having me!

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, I had just finished lunch with my friend and we wanted to have something sweet/dessert. As we were in Camberwell we searched around the area for a dessert place and Linger Cafe popped up. After having a quick look at Zomato and photos we came here.

šŸ”†LOCATIONšŸ”†
Linger Cafe is situated in very residential area of Camberwell. We literally drove past the cafe because we didnt realise it was located within an old building that used to be a part of the Camberwell South Anglican Church next door on the corner of Bowen St and Toorak Road.

From the exterior it's maintained its original structure hence why it doesnt look like a cafe. However, once I walked into the door, a beautiful and serene setting was in front of me. Leafy green plants, cute displays on benches and shelves makes it very inviting.Ā Ā

The original high ceilings and glass-stained windows makes the cafe really unique however the modern look and feel also has its attraction.

šŸ”†SERVICEšŸ”†
Although I wasnt sitting in the main dining area of the cafe ( I was seated just within the entry-way which I found was a nicer setting) I sensed a strong community feel and noticed there were regular customers, and people were very relaxed and enjoying their time.Ā

I liked how the atmosphere was relaxed with a nice vibe. I didnt feel rushed as some cafes do give you that sense when its very busy.Ā

When I was pondering over the cakes at the counter, an Asian guy behind the counter told me the cakes were all made in-house and if I wanted more information can take card.Ā
By the counter there are post card size cards with a photo of each of the specialty cakes with description of the cake ingredients on the back and a little "story" written in English and Chinese. I thought this is a very nice touch.

Also by the counter there is a little wooden table, with a large clear glassed water stand which you can help yourself to free mocktail drink. Next to it are the actual bottled drink in a champaign looking bottle which is alcohol free. So interesting!Ā

šŸ”†MENU/PRICEšŸ”†

I would have liked to try their food at Linger Cafe, however as we had already eaten lunch, we only wanted to have dessert and drinks.Ā

The array of beautifully designed cakes ( petit gateau) in the glass cabinet made selecting our order a little difficult. However the waitress was very helpful in giving us advice.

All the cakes are house made at the cafe which is wonderful. It is also great to know they make the infamous " Watermelon Cake" which became a huge sensation by the original Black Star Pastry in Newtown, Sydney. I was alwasy disappointed they didnt open in Melbourne or no other bakeries would have the Watermelon Cake, so when I saw it here in Linger Cafe, I was excited to try it.

We ordered the following:Ā

Piggy Cake, $10.00
(Citrus mousse, mandarin jelly, chocolate feuilletine, chocolate sponge cake)

Watermelon Cake, $10.00
( Hazelnut dacquoise, white chocolate cream, watermelon, fresh strawberry, pistachio and dry rose)

Bright Spark Tea, $4.50
(White tea, gingko, bacopa, papaya bits, apple bits, marigold blossom, mulberries)

Oriental Twist Tea, $4.50
(Jasmine flowers, Green tea, lychee)

šŸ”†VERDICTšŸ”†

I selected the piggy cake as seeing 2019 is the Year of the Pig, thought it would be nice to try it and as my friend had never had the Watermelon cake before we go that too.

I really enjoyed the lightness of the Piggy Cake. I somehow was a little afraid it would be too heaving with the chocolate sponge cake but surprisingly it wasnt. The addition of the chocolate feuittetine made it more enjoyable to eat and the citrus mousse in the middle gave it a nice refreshed balance to the palate.

The Watermelon cake was very nice. My friend enjoyed it alot. However as I have eaten the original cake before a number of times in Sydney, I still favour the original but having said that Linger Cafe's watermelon cake is still quite nice with the delicious hazelnut, white chocolate cream and strawberriesĀ  its just a really delicious combination.Ā

My friend ordered the Oriental Spark Tea, however I felt that it was way too strong for my liking and it didnt really go well with the cakes.

I had the Oriental Twist tea - I could definitely taste the jasmine which was nice and there was a light hint of jasmine.

It is a delight to have found this hidden cafe with such wonderful cakes which to me, you would normally really see in Asia.
I could tell the owners are Asian and very lovely and friendly people who make the customers feel welcomed!Ā

Overall we had a really enjoyable time at Linger Cafe.Ā
I am very curious as to what their breakfast/lunch menu is like.

Wow how amazing is this cafe! It was a nice surprise walking through the front door as I didn't expect the inside of the cafe to be as beautiful as it was.Ā  This was originally an old church, the high beam ceiling and lead light windows are gorgeous, the cafe has been decorated so tastefully too.

My friend and I were greeted by warm and lovely staff, smiles all round.Ā  I ordered a double ristretto while my friend ordered an ice coffee, both were full in flavour and well balanced.Ā  For brunch I ordered the smoked salmon potato rosti, wow what a filling and tasty dish! It looked amazing when it was placed in front of me, my eggs poached perfectly and the rosti nice and crispy and not oily either.Ā  My friend ordered the breaky burger which looked like a winner as soon as it hit the table, my friend was very happy with this choice.

For dessert we were very spoilt and got to try the lemon tree, mushroom forest, orange and pear cakes.Ā  Vivian, who has created these masterpieces gave us a story behind her inspirations and she is such a talented and remarkable pastry chef! All of these desserts were amazing, they looked and tasted beautiful.Ā Ā

I highly recommend a visit to Linger Patisserie, you won't be disappointed! I would like to thank Vivienne and her team for the invite and warm welcome.

I looved everything about my visit!

The cafe is situated in a 100 year old church and is run by the super talented Vivian who has won 5th place in Sydney’s Savour Patissier of the Year competition out of 12,000 entrants, and has studied under top Michelin Star pastry chefs in Paris! šŸ˜

Not only this, but she is so inspirational because of her amazing heart for people (so much so that talking to her brought me to tears literally!). 😭 She helps with a charity called Hellobaby in China which helps abandoned disabled children find adoption homes. And her heart for her community is what attracts people to her, and to her cafe. Each of these amazing cakes she makes has a story behind them- so her visitors tell her their life stories and she then dedicates and designs a cake for them with meaning behind all the elements. I just love her heart behind everything she does! Vivian you’re amazing and as I told you before, you will go higher and higher! ā™„ļøšŸ”„

Tasty food with friendly and quick service. Very pretty venue and great that you can make bookings on a weekend. The sweet french toast was beautifully presented and delicious. It only came with one piece of french toast though, so was still a bit hungry afterwards.
They have many little cakes on display and they were the cutest little cakes I have ever seen- particularly the white rabbit and piggy. I didn’t get a chance to try one but will definitely be back to see if they taste as good as they look!!

Haven't been to a cafe with staff having such smiley faces as this one in a long time. Big thumbs up on the service. Was greeted upon stepping in and asked to take any seats, it was Sunday lunch time but still plenty of empty tables. I had the beetroot latte which was smooth and on the sweet side, can taste the beetroot is there. Both of us opted for mains off the Todays Specials menu; the rogan josh lamb shank and confit duck. Both were well done, lamb shanks just slides off as it should. The duck dish was much more savoury sitting on a bed of pickled cabbage. Only thing is i felt the serving size is not enough to really fill you up. We did take away the rabbit and pear cake. The rabbit was a perfect blend of sweet and savoury, i would pick it again. The pear was a whole lot of light cream with a more distinct pear flavoured centre once you get there. Their desserts are truely delightful. I must return to taste the others some other time. I was tempted by the watermelon cake which reminded me of Black Pastry but thought to try it next time. The enviroment feels cosy and clean in what appears like the interior of a church that once was. I would recommended.

Melbourne was our home for over two and a half decades, and it remains our ā€œsoul-homeā€ to this day.Ā  No matter how far we fly away, how further afield we sample desserts across the world, how quickly the minutes, months and years pass by, every time we return to visit our family, the city reminds us of why Melbourne was the birthplace of this dessert blog.Ā  It is a city that either conceives and catalyzes dessert trends, or channels and reconfigures dessert trends into something entirely different.Ā  It is also, most thankfully, a city where gimmicky dessert trends gasp for survival (quite unlike cities such as NYC where substance over style does not necessarily triumph).Ā  Perhaps, we concede, we may be somewhat biased, but each time we return, it becomes so very much harder to say goodbye to Melbourne, even if only temporarily until our next return.

Rated 3.5 but rounded to 4 for the purposes of Zomato.

Linger Patisserie Cafe - A long standing cafe in the brunch heartland of Camberwell. It is so strange that this hasn't been on my radar before but the GORGEOUS pastries and cakes meant I had to get here fast!. This cafe has so much charm - mostly due to its local crowd and beautiful interior. It is attached to a church and draws most of its inspiration and interior from there with classic stained glass windows and wooden beams to support its extra ceilings. It was a great change in atmosphere from the usual brunch spot.

It’s been open for 3 years, and it’s a wonder I haven’t heard of Linger Patisserie earlier. Situated in a church, the cafe was opened as a result of the owner’s passion for cakes. Apart from cakes, there’s regular brunch fare available too

Lingering ....

An invite to try some French inspired patisseries in a converted 100 year old church building on a leafy street of Camberwell was just the perfect invite ...

It wasn't a pleasant "sight" arriving and walking through the entrance ... the entrance was "littered" with some wood planks, rubbish bins, etc. while the main attractions are well hidden behind the solid Red brick building/entrance, not pleasant to the eye #1.

The interior and the setup itself is not what I would expect while enjoying these lovely creations; dark bench, sitting on top was an ultra sleek Victoria Arduino Black Eagle, dark walls behind the bench, cluttered with crates as a display divider and some more are scattered on the wall, LED lighting with the bright Pink/Salmon bench and mismatched display for those attractive looking patisseries inside the display cabinets., not pleasant to the eye #2.

Nonetheless, I'm not here for the interior of a converted 100 year old church ... I'm here for some fresh delicious French pastries ... oui oui monsieur ...
:-)

I started with a generous size plain Croissant and Latte, I thought it was a good start in this French inspired cafe. The $5.00 plain Croissant was "big" and buttery, thin flakes, just a perfect companion for my $3.80 smooth Latte that was made from a special blend ordered by the proprietor. I even got some extra Greens with my Croissant too ... first time for everything, probably just enough to balanced those butter and Mum will be happy.

Then to the main act .... eye candy, creative, finesse, not overloaded with sugar ... just high quality patisserie creation from the team at Linger.

Signature Water Melon; not watery was a great start, layered, attractive, ... must warned you, it can be addictive
, as it "feels" healthy with all that exposed fruits,
Mango Larry; Mango mousse and Passion fruit creation, dedicated to a deceased husband of a couple that were married some 54 years ago, a love story ....

Unfortunately, lacking in presentation for these beauties ... they need a better plates, rustic style to complement the historical building too. I think a bit of a revamp, present them properly and this place could give Pierric Boyer a run for his money :-)

Always great to hear how this place came about ... we were entertained by the proprietor Vivian, her journey in setting up Linger, little did we know that Vivian was a French trained Patissier and Vivian came fifth once in an Eclair competition, fantastic effort.

I'm looking forward to come back and try their Menu, cooked by their ex-Michelin star restaurant chef, still "lingering on". JT-24/11/2017.

Simply put, the place is lovely with friendly and enthusiastic staff, and the pastries were amazing. I had the best cakes (the ones in the shape of fruit) which had a balanced taste of fruitiness and sweetness. Go and grab one of their cakes, it wouldn’t let you down.

The cakes in the glass cabinet certainly looked amazing and it's obvious that it's taken a lot of time and technical skill to make them. We tried the coconut, rabbit and mango. They were so delicious! Creamy, smooth, light and not overly sweet. Absolutely hands down the most scrumptious cakes I've had in long time.

The savoury dishes we tried were the Royal Egg and the Salted duck pasta (a special). The waldorf salad was refreshing, the potato rosti was crispy and the poached eggs were perfect. The dish did require more seasoning. The house made cured salmon was something I didn't enjoy but luckily my friend didn't mind it. It's a personal preference. I felt it was a bit bland in flavour and I didn't enjoy the texture. The salted duck pasta was a hit. My friend loved the spiciness of the sauce.

Lots of space for prams and play area for kids. Cafe is located right next to a park with a playground too.

Went to Linger on this afternoon as recommendations of friends. The cafe is kind of hidden. But it is nice and cosy inside. Cakes here are great so is the food. Recommend the egg royal, duck legs, beef salad, pulled pork. Coffee is also great. Good place for lunch chill out in Camberwell and great place for deserts.

Definitely one of the best cakes I ever had. Brought my friends here to try their famous watermelon cake, as well as the rose cranberry cake, coconut cake, and apple. they absolutely loved everything. I think they love me more because of the beautiful cakes.
We also had lunch here. Royal egg is definitely a star on their menu. Worth trying. We also ordered beef burger and egg benedit with pulled pork. Yummy. I love the sliced apple in the dish. So fresh, and like a little party in my mouth.

Sit down with my fellow fooodies to try their desserts the other day and we are absolutely in love with them. I personally like the feel since I walk in, super nice and cosy. The owner turns out to be the one who creates all delicious cakes on the display....cool. Coffee is great,so is chai latte. The overall experience exceeds my experience expectations and we are told that the chef here is from Michelin Star Hong Kong. Therefore, we will definitely come back here again to taste their food. For now, highly recommended for sweets and drinks. šŸ‘

This is a reincarnation of a previous business. Very pleasant cafe, busy on a very wintry day. The staff made us welcome offering drinks and water on arrival. We ordered the corn fritters, Royale egg and the pumpkin fitter. All pronounced excellent. There is not a licence but we were happy with tea. The dessert was the most amazing lemon which had many layers and take 6 days to complete the process. The layers of flavour were amazing delicious citrus not overwhelming but subtle creamy fresh Can I go on. Magnificent will do.

Yet to try the watermelon cake from Black star pastry but the watermelon cake here is to die for!! Only available on weekends so be quick. Seriously the best cake I've had and kudos to Vivienne the patisserie chef / owner for sourcing tasty watermelon in winter!!
The pear cake was recently showcased in the Masterchef finale's last challenge. You can taste it here, it's delightful. The orange cake was also great. The cakes are all masterly crafted, almost too beautiful to eat and not too sweet.

Unfortunately the savory dishes weren't up to the same standard as the cakes. The corn and zucchini fritters were served as three small balls, slightly over fried, insufficient for a main meal. The sauce didn't really complement the fritters. The salad was good especially the zucchini noodles but I personally detest fried shallots. The mushroom salad was much better but there were some burnt bits.

Loved the Totoro creation on the soy matcha latte, very original thanks to the friendly Barista.
Soy hot choc was quite flavourless.
Apparently the pork dish was tasty.
Service was really fast during both visits. Vivienne and co. were very friendly.

Update: soy chai was really good.
Avo mash on toast was too big for one.
Cake review- Pear 8/10, Orange 7/10, Rose 6/10, Watermelon 10/10, Lemon ($20) 10/10 but overpriced, Matcha 9/10 Great with red beans

This is a brilliant cafe, neatly tucked into a quiet Camberwell area. They changed the coffee beans which was a great move and the staff are just hilarious. I had the best laugh with one of the waitresses during lunch the other day. The chicken focaccia is an ample serving and the only thing that could make this better is if they paid you to eat there :D

Great place for breakfast/brunch/lunch with young children. Kids Menu (standard fare), along with small indoor play area (toy train table, infant/toddler toys, TV with Movie - Lego movie on day we visited) kept our 2 year olds happy and entertained whilst catching up with a friend on the near by couch. Tables close to play area also available. Coffee & Cakes were good. 4 🌟 as the service was fast, attentive, and the lovely staff also allowed us to split the bill.

Hidden gem in Camberwell. We went there on a rainy weekend for brunch, no booking. They were very busy but managed to get us an inside table even before we were ready to place our order. The outside would be lovely on a day with good weather tho! Service was good, coffee (mocha) was good - nothing too special. But the food was tops! The chilli scramble checked all the boxes. The Reuben sandwich was delicious. And the portions are very generous! We will be back šŸ™‚

These are the cutest! We came here for the gorgeous and beautifully presented cakes. They were perfectly balanced proportions of fruit mousse, fruit and sponge cake. The results were light, sweet and softly textured creations that were Instagram worthy and an indulgence for the taste buds. The Viet salad with calamari was refreshing and truly tasty. The angel hair pasta with crab was delicious too. But really the cakes were the main event. The converted church hall with its mosaic patterned window coverings and ample greenery created a uniquely spacious, open feeling. Staff were attentive and helpful despite the bustling Sunday lunch crowd. We loved our experience here and hope Linger continues to flourish. It's places like this that uplifts Melbourne's gastronomic quality and cafe culture.

Nice place BUT do not trust the menu on the online booking system. Waitress said that everything in the cabinet is on the online menu... The watermelon cake that was 'sold out' online was still available in the cabinet as we left 😭 and whilst there were sausage rolls in the cabinet, it wasn't on the online menu!
