Review Zayt & Zaatar - Campbelltown

Came here on a Saturday night for family feast, great decor and friendly staff. The main event we had was the mix platter, which was more than enough for 3 adults and two little kids. The meats were perhaps a little on the dry side, but overall very happy with the meal.

This family owned Lebanese restaurant is a true gem hidden away in the northeast of Adelaide. Food is excellent and so was the service and atmosphere. Servings are generous and guaranteed that you and your fellow diners will be well full and satisfied. Authentic Lebanese cuisine indeed. We’ve been three times and each time has been consistently enjoyable. Recommend: mixed skewers platter, taste platter, 4 dip platter, sujuk, halloumi salad.

Lovely experience. The host was very nice and well informed about the food and drinks. We loved the taste platter witch comes with verity of savoury pastries, dips and more. Great value for money. Worth a visit

Rack of lamb, quail casserole. First time here, the food was beyond amazing! Quail casserole definitely my favorite. And staffs super friendly. Sure we ll come back.

Tasty food but it took AGES, we came here on a Saturday night and ordered at 7:50pm, and we didn't our entrees until 9:00pm, and then mains at 9:45pm.. a bit of a ridiculous wait and they didn't even communicate this with our table - or other tables for that matter. There were many disgruntled customers looking around, waiting for food to come. I would suggest they add more staff or reduce the max number of table bookings, the wait time for meals is simply way too long. Even for a good one!

My favourite Lebanese restaurant in Adelaide. It’s family owned, halal and has fantastic food. I love the Lamb Mishwi served with bread, humus, garlic sauce, salad and wedges. Lamb is juicy and tender with desirable level of fat. Wedges are seasoned well, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Humus is delicious and garlic sauce really enhances the flavour of the meat. I really like the beef steaks served here. The scotch fillet and the tomahawk steak are grilled to perfection and have a unique charcoal flavour. Staff is great and food gets served in a reasonable time. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. On the other hand, the spicy potato butata served with steaks isn’t my taste so I swap with wedges. I’m also not a fan of the bread that is served, it can often be dry and doesn’t feel fresh. Chicken used in Mishwi is a breast fillet that can get dry when grilled. Overall it is fantastic restaurant with delicious food. I highly recommend dining here.

DISSAPOINTING!! never experienced such awful treatment from a restaurant like this. We were a group of 7 people. It was booked in advance and we waited 1 hour to let the food arrive at 7pm and guess what ? Around 7:15 the waitress came and told us to LEAVE as the tables we were sitting at needed to be given to other customers. She then brought the 2 takeaway containers. There were several other free tables, and we asked if we could sit other free areas but she told us she cannot let us sit too and will give extra 10 minutes in a bossy manner which was pretty ridiculous . Billing was $258, after the food we ordered and the only thing we got was telling us to evacuate from our table with 15 minutes of dining in while there were plenty of free tables. As a person who has worked in the restaurant and customer service industry, this is so wrong and racially motivated. I wouldn’t recommend.

Just opened at West Lakes. Decided to check it out with my sister for lunch today. We shared 3 small dishes. Hummus with lamb and cashews, fatuous salad and a spicy lamb dish served with Lebanese flat bread. Perfect for 2 of us and we can't wait to go back! They say they are booked out tonight for dinner so best book for evening meal. We went about 1. 30pm and found a table easily. Great atmosphere, menu, wine and very friendly service. Highly recommend.

Took the family of 6 a few months ago for the first time. We were all hungry (including the 5yr old!) so we ordered a bit of everything. Entree shared platters and various single and shared mains. The entrees arrived and literally filled the entire table. We started to think that one or two were actually mains! The dips and sauces were amazing. We worked through the entrees and the use of flavours and spices was balanced well. There was enough toasted pita bread to start an instant yiros shop. We finished the entrees and were rather proud of ourselves! Then the mains arrived and we realised that serves here that feed 2 really mean 2 to 4.. omg. In my younger years it would have been no problem but even with two 15yr old boys and a 13yr old girl we only managed to eat a quarter of the main meals. The fish platter was huge and each fish tasted unique but amazing. The meat platter offer charcoal cooked chicken, lamb and beef and everything was cooked perfectly. The salads were fresh and tangy. The chips were soft inside and crunchy outside and would have complemented our pop up yiros shop easily. So much glorious food.. The wine selection covers all bases. Dont get me started on desserts.. the staff are friendly and enjoy a joke. Its also nice when the owner and chef comes out and checks everyone is happy.. we took home 5 takeaway containers. Went again a week later.. 2 takeaway containers. Have been 3 more times and now know how much to order! My favourite is the lamb cutlets (you get a rack!) And the vegetarian rice is the tastiest you will find.. This adventure is only going to get better!

There were six of us and the bill was about $250 which didn’t include alcohol. I thought it was a bit pricey. My partner and I chose a mixed skewer plate which was for two - $57.90. To me the plates of food were way too big, but you can’t please all of us all of the time. The fattoush was lovely as was hummus and the garlic paste. There were plenty of chips and bread. I found the meat and chicken a bit dry and not a lot of flavor. They also forgot our order so we were late getting our skewers. My friends found the seating a bit uncomfortable and it was very noisy. The staff were lovely so no complaints there. Next time I will have the charcoal grilled lamb chops as I’m sure we’ll go again but this time not on a Saturday night. Sharing would work well as I eat small amounts and we could order just dips. The staff gave us six baklava type dessert for forgetting our meal.

Loved the dips, pickles and chips on the platter! But the chicken had very little salt. Could add more salt and spice to make it even better! Music too loud as well.

Great place to eat with friends or alone. Wonderful food, great atmosphere, friendly efficient staff. What more could one want? We had the mixed skewers for 2 and it was delicious and toooo much. Yesterday we had the Samaki Harrah (Barramundi) it was fantastic. This dish would please people who ‘don’t like fish’! We’ll make this one our regular spot!

I had the most amazing meal there last night-best falafel’s I’ve ever had. And all the staff were super happy, kind and gave brilliant service. Thank you for a great dinner!

What a magnificent feast! This has got to be one of the best restaurants in Adelaide. The dishes are bursting with flavour, extremely generous in size and 5 star quality. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It is family run and the chef came out to chat to us and made us feel so welcome. I cannot recommend this venue enough. You will be missing out on something truly special if you don’t go.

Awesome food! Genuinely friendly staff and chef! Their lamb was the best. Got a lot of food for the money spent.
Helana Shehadeh Khoury
The absolute best food and service! The finest mezze type entrees and the tastiest mains especially the fish!
Laura Kitto
Is just so good! Plenty vegan options and things available to be made vegan. The waitress was lovely and resteraunt and meals are presented beautifully as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals even my fussy boys ate their food. Service was spot on always willing to help and kept up on our constant drink demands lol.

The partner and I were kid free and though we would go treat ourselves. Never been here before but had heard only great things. We had the Skewers for 2 platter. There was alot of food so no issues with the serving size at all. The chicken was super dry and the lamb was really fatty, it was still nice but I expected higher quality ingredients. The thing that absolutely ruined it for me and my partner was the male and female sitting in the back corner (we were seated in the middle of the restaurant, I was facing them) these 2 were obviously the kids of the owners or somehow known to the owners as they freely walked behind the counter. The male was fine HOWEVER this girl, long black hair, big lips, no bra, who was lounging across the bench seat with her dirty feet up, swearing and talking absolute crap really loudly acting like a child. My partner and I could not enjoy our dinner because she was being an idiot. I can not STAND going to restaurants and the owners having a complete disregard for the customers who are spending their time and money to eat at their restaurant. It's so disrespectful and for that reason alone I will not be returning and will not be recommending to my friends. Usually I'll leave a restaurant full, happy and relaxed. I left your restaurant full but really pissed off and frustrated.

The service is fantastic, and the food is so fresh, fragrant & delicious. And by god, there is alot of it! Be prepared to doggy bag and wear your elastic eating pants! But seriously, A+ - treat yourself to some Lebanese hospitality Thank you! :)
The Sassy Foodie
Located on Lower North East Road in the suburb of Campbeltown, this place offers the best of the best traditional Lebanese food. 🇱🇧

I’ve been here once before and really enjoyed the whitebait and chicken. I wanted to try something different this time and also dine in. (Last time I came here was during Covid, so couldn’t dine in 😅). The interior is family style with a subtle contemporary feel. Staff are super friendly and look after you at every step of your experience.

This time around I had the taste platter, which I would recommend to everyone who hasn’t been here or if you would just like a taste of many of the items on the menu. It was super delish!

For the main, I ordered the Kafta Skewers, which were cooked to perfection and the condiments . . . I can’t even begin to describe how well they complimented the whole meal. The house made dips are one of the highlights of this place and they compliment the food every step of the way. Don’t take my word for it, book yourself a time to check this joint out . . . You won’t regret it!

P.S their Aperols are the bees knees! 🍹

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here the other night with friends. Portion size for the price was great. I ordered chicken skewers and my partner ordered the lamb. It came with an abundance of sides including bread, crispy potato, fatoush, hummus and garlic sauce. It was tasty but I couldn’t eat it all. I would go back for the lamb!

Delicious food, large quantities. The seating could be made more comfortable... with the large servings the food could barely fit on a table for two.
Luther Wong
Service is friendly and helpful. Food served in generous quantities. Tasty food cooked correctly. Worth the experience for a reasonable price.
I am a die hard fan of Lebanese cuisine and this place didn’t let me miss the food when I was in Adelaide. Smiling and energetic servicing staff, great ambience and above that grilled platters done to taste and the tender meet and chicken delicacies along with fresh baked breads made my experience amazing. Strongly recommended restaurant for Lebanese food⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Serving sizes are generous for the price. Come very hungry because one of the mains could easily feed two people! They offer cardboard boxes for take home so you are covered in any case.
Also make sure you book a table inside far from the door as it can get busy, and outside can be cold in winter. Also note that you order and pay at the counter - otherwise you might expect to get waited on and nothing will happen.
With those first-time discoveries out of the way, the atmosphere is great and the food is fantastic. I had the mixed kebab plate. Would like to go again and try other things on the menu, particularly their breakfast menu.

Great food. Make sure you're hungry before you go. Fabulous middle eastern food. Be sure to book. White bait, grills and salads absolutely delicious 👍
Really impressed with the whole experience at Zayt & Zaatar. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the fabulous decore including amazing chalk drawings and a really well thought out feel to the timber finishes throughout to the great wine selection and of course the food .... what can I say about the food ... how about Wow!!!! Absolutely magnificent. I had the mixed skewers and my wife had the vegetarian platter. See photos. Colorful, tasty and a massive amount of food on the platters. I tried the Lebanese drinks (forgot the name) but loved the really interesting flavors. We can’t wait to return and perhaps leave a little room next time for the delicious looking desserts in the glass cabinet.

The service is great, but the food is superb. And I should know because I’m middle eastern!Everything is fresh, serving portions are generous, and they keep to traditional recipes, rather than try to go fancy shmansy and lose the authenticity of Arabic food. Oh and the tabouli is awesome (most importantly). We will be back for sure!

First time there also after seeing it open sometime ago. Most people I spoke to loved the place. I found the seating cramped & it was a cold night - so between the cold wind from the constantly opening door & breeze coming from the toilet direction I just did not get warm.
Oh, the food was great though & we ended up getting a container & bringing some home as the servings were big - they were very accommodating & the staff were all very friendly - I would definitely go again (when it is warmer)

Amazing fresh food and drinks, couldn’t fault anything. It was really authentic, the food had so much flavour and was perfect. Lovely service too, we will definitely be back there soon!

First time visiting Zayt & Zaatar. We chose the mixed skewer platter for 2. The meat was succulent and flavour filled. The accompaniments were the perfect selection for the platter. Will definitely be back, and encourage anyone looking for a good feed at a reasonable price with great service to check this place out.

Awesome food! Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Servings are huge so don’t order too much. We had the combo skewers for 2 and it would easily serve 3. We live locally and will definitely be going back. If you like authentic Lebanese food, this is a place to try.
HoneyBintheCity
What a great find for wonderfully authentic Lebanese food in the North Eastern suburbs!! This place is easy to drive past, but do urself a favour and do a u-bolt to try this out!! The flavours are so overwhelming in such a good way that ur mouth feels like u've had an explosion!! The service was lovely and value really good. The place is decked out as an invitingly cosy yet trendy wooden themed place with cool chalkboard pics, and they're expanding so hopefully it can only get better! Also found out they open for brekky till 2pm as well, so must try that!! Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back!! 👍👍

Great food.Had a large family function.no one was dissatisfied with the food.only negative was the bench seats, two hours sitting on them would send you to the Chinese masseur next door .would recommend
Lovely ambience and very friendly service. Quality and presentation were excellent. Should have read previous reviews regarding serving size as we definitely over-ordered. Not a huge problem as we enjoyed the leftovers for lunch the next day.

WARNING - GENEROUS SERVINGS
You should have seen my sister's face when she was told that Z&Z is currently unlicensed!
You have to order at the counter. The staff are friendly & it can get quite busy. If you aren't a big eater, consider sharing one of the main courses.
The three of us ordered chips plus Kafta Skewers plus Kibby Arass plus the Whitebait Platter. We enjoyed the food that we managed to eat but there was a lot of food on the table which we couldn't finish. A staff member happily gave us takeaway containers for our leftovers.

Divine Lebanese food. Fabulous friendly service. Funky decor. Great atmosphere: really buzzing.
The furniture is rustic timber and the food fresh and wholesome and spiced.
Couldn't fault it! The kids loved it.
Not as cheap as little Lebanese shops in Sydney but great value for dinner out.
We will be back!

The atmosphere is really nice, some of the tables are a bit high but nevertheless the interior is really cool.

We had the mixed skewer platter for two and this could easily feed three people comfortably. All the meat was cooked beautifully, the hommus and garlic dip were beautiful and the chips were cooked well.

The staff were really lovely and will definitely be back here again. Food is a tad bit pricey but you get very large meal sizes which makes up for it.

We visited on a Friday evening.

The service and atmosphere were both fantastic.

Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.

The platters were huge!

The decor is funky with handmade wooden bench tables: ideal for shared grazing. The seats were a little too large for my daughter but no worries.

Tasty well seasoned fresh food, convivial atmosphere, delightful music, authentic deserts!

Toilets were clean and pleasant.

Located on a busy stretch of Lower North East Rd, with the wide steer frontage, it was a little noisy, but as our leisurely meal progressed the traffic quietened.

A fantastic experience. The kids (11 and 12) both loved it. Great for vegetarians.

Food was really nice and ambience was great. Have driven by here many times and finally thought to stop by. Menu was perhaps a little bit pricey, but the variety and quality of food was certainly much better than other Lebanese style restaurant in the area. Also, service was prompt and staff were exceptionally friendly.

Will most likely return again in a bigger group, as sharing plates all looked quite tasty. Would recommend

The decor of this place is great ! its really well done, and original ..Chairs a little low for the table, but it is manageable.

The food was very flavoursome, however does takes some time to come out. The lamb skewers were a great choice however, wanted to share between two and the serving is a little small.
Whole baked fish was wonderful .. and would recommend.
Dips are also delicious.

The best food and service I've had in Adelaide! The quality was devine. The range perfect. The service so professional and homely. The atmosphere so lovely. I would recommend this to everyone! We we will definitely be back. Can't wait to try the breakfast menu! Can't wait till they expand! Thank you for the complementary dish of my favorite dip!
