Review Ricardo's Cafe - Canberra

Delicious Eggs Benedict and long black. Reasonably priced and staff were very friendly. Will definitely be back to try out their awesome looking range of cakes.

Good service. Sweet potato fries are wonderful, fresh and crispy. Cheese cake is beautiful but seems not fresh.

The worst food I had in a long time. The actual score should be negative but google review only allow a minimum of 1 star. Ravioli not cooked thoroughly, served rock hard + shrunken prawns with black edges- see photo attached. Breakfast soaked with heaps of oil and literally, everything is floating on a thick layer of oil. All dishes are also very salty. Mushrooms are again not thoroughly cooked and taste raw. Drinks are excessively sweet. I’m surprised how such expensive and awful food could attract so many patrons. Maybe there are not many choices around.

Super busy on a weekday morning, but still received fast service. Definitely worth it :) Food servings were a great size and there was a lot of variety. Everything looked beautiful and was delicious! Outdoor seating was great as the heaters were working well. Will definitely come again!

The food and service is absolutely fabulous. Wheelchair accessible and staff are very helpful in ensuring you after comfortable. The food was absolutely divine. The portions were not too large. The menu ensures that they is something for everyone. I had the potato and chorizo skillet and it was just perfect. The coffee was perfect. Just delicious.

Delicious food, amazing cakes (like, unbelievably artistic looking cakes that you don't even want to eat because you'll ruin how good they look!), very clean and very nice atmosphere you'll forget you're in Jamison! Friendly staff too and very well priced. Highly recommend for an every day coffee place or somewhere to go for an occasion.

Great fast service. Well balanced flavours but portions could be a little bigger. Coffee and a Portuguese tart are a great quick treat if you're in a rush

Delicious food as always, and service with a genuine smile. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon and the Lemon Meringue Hotcakes which were both tasty and filling. Would be nice to have a few more DF options on the regular menu in future. Desserts are ALWAYS incredible, so do try those.

Visiting Ricardo’s this morning was slightly disappointing due to the length of time it took to bring meals to the table. It took around 50 minutes to bring 5 meals. Granted, they were busy, but we only ordered sandwiches, fish and chips, and fritters. There was a 10 minute period between when the first and last meals were brought to the table, which brought out the hanger in one of our guests. However, once the food arrived, it was quite tasty and satisfying. If I was to return, I would try and come back later in the afternoon.

Decent amount of food but milk shake was average (it tasted like chocolate meal replacement drink😐). As you can see, food looks so pretty😍 I'd go back for qt dessert nek time!
Canberra Vegan
Ricardo's at Jamison Plaza is a popular place for coffee and breakfast/lunch. They have a separate vegan menu, as well as a couple of vegan dessert options on display at the counter. We went at breakfast time and ordered the big breakfast, granola and raw snickers bar. The servings were quite generous, so we left feeling very satisfied. The raw snickers bar was probably big enough for four people. The granola came with fresh fruit and some dollops of what seemed like a vegan lemon butter. Very nice indeed.

Absolutely buzzing here. Finally checked out this place after hearing many great reviews from friends. Enjoyed a mocha and malteser cake. Mocha was perfectly balanced and not too sweet but the temperature could have been much warmer. The cake I had was beautifully decorated but almost a bit too chilled. Reasonably priced for the portion size you get. Looking around the meals looked quiet generous in serving size as well. I was excited to try everything at once but I'll pace myself out and definitely be back for a meal and more !

Went here earlier today after I finished my night shift at work. Efficient service, food and coffee were served immediately ( which was good, because by that time I was ravenously hungry). I ordered the zucchini and corn fritters, which came with two poached eggs, pearl couscous salad and the pink sauce. What deterred me was the fact that it was a cold morning and they did not turn on the heater.<br/>Otherwise, it is a decent place to have brunch if you are around Bruce/Belconnen. Would come back here to give the desserts a go as they look really yum!

I spoke with the owner one time and he wasn't very polite. I didn't believe he was going to change but his business would carry on. Then I was shocked to learn his cafe was shut down due to serious health issues. I guess karma comes when you least expect it.

Surprisingly decent food second time around.<br/>We came here for Sunday brunch and we shared the coconut french toast, KFC burger and calamari. It wasn't even midday but they ran out of smoothies, not sure how that can happen so early in the day??!! We started on the savoury dishes but because we were seated on a small table served with massive plates, dining at the cafe was a bit cramped. I ordered the burger which had a fried piece of chicken on a bed of picked grated vegetables topped with bacon and siracha mayo. The combination was nice but the bread tasted a bit stale and slightly too thick. The mayo could have also done with more siracha for that extra punch. I added fries for an extra $3. My husband had the calamari but couldn't finish it as it was sitting on a bed of mixed Quinoa, cucumber, pickled ginger, snow pea leaves, red cabbage, orange segments and red onion. I thought the flavours were nice but every now and then I tasted an Indian spice, couldn't pin point what it was but wasn't pleasant. We ended swapping dishes. By the time we had the French toast, it was chewy and hard to break into pieces, had to tear it apart and had to down it with water. I think it had a lot to do with the type of bread they chose. The mango and berry curd was nice and sweet enough that it didn't need the maple syrup. I think it also needed a bit more biscuit crumble.<br/>Don't be fooled by the dessert cabinet as we came here on our first visit a year ago trialling a range of desserts and had to chuck out a lot of it as it was just appealing to the eyes but didn't satisfy. The only dessert I do enjoy is the caramel Cronut, not too sweet or oily, nice crisp to it.

Don't be fooled by the hype surrounding this place. Eggs Benedict was served with what looked and tasted like canned salmon, but they fancy up the name by calling it a salmon rilette. The whole dish tasted like lemon, and they throw in an enormous lemon wedge just incase you want MORE lemon. Very small serving for the $20 price tag. The ridiculous milkshakes are so expensive too. Not even water for the table. No smiles or attentive staff. Never again! Try Subway over the corridor instead. It's a suburban cafe behaving like some hipster Lonsdale Street venue. Nope. All wrong. Daughter wanted slice of cake. $10? No way.
Macka
Good service but pricey for what it is. Also it is quite noisy so don't plan on having a meeting there. This is not helped by the tables being very close together.

Do not visit this place if you have any food intolerances. Staff were extremely rude, inconsiderate and unhelpful. They would not modify anything including just eliminating an item off the plate even though they were not busy. I couldn't eat here and will never return. So disappointed.

This place has the most friendly and efficient staff that I've ever encountered.<br/>The service is prompt, our food came out in next to no time at all.<br/>The food is absolutely delicious.

Every visit the staff are always helpful and friendly. Food is consistently quick and delicious and the coffee is great! Gets very busy especially for brunch on weekends but worth the wait for a table

Having heard such great things about this place, had high expectations coming in. <br/><br/>Overall left quite disappointed. Ordered the waffles, which ended up being more of a dry cake consistency which was not improved by the chewy meringue and an odd tasting tahini custard. The figs were the only part of the dish I liked - and they were freshly cut. <br/><br/>Ricardo's has potential to be a great eatery but they need to get the basics right before trying to incorporate too many 'fancy' elements.

Came here on a Sunday morning, was super busy and deafeningly loud, but made a pretty ok big breakfast (aside from the potato rosti) and double espresso.

One of my 2016 goals is to work my way through the cake menu at Ricardo’s – I feel like I started this quest with a bang! I am a huge fan of Snickers bars, and the Ricardo’s interpretation on this classic chocolate bar is utterly divine. Firstly, the size of this cake is just right (I’d say it’s even slightly bigger than your average icecream) for an afternoon tea snack, but be prepared for rich decandence! The peanuts scattered over the outer shell are dusted in edible gold sparkly dust (yep, that’s the technical term), making it not only tasty (peanuts) but also very pretty (sparkly!). Inside is a magical mix of

Forget Flute, Ricardo's has the best range of specialist desserts in Canberra.<br/>Had lunch for birthday boy yesterday. No booking necessary, menu pleased all.<br/>Service is good, half hour wait for food reasonable given the crowd.<br/>Lunch fare was average. Dry duck and chicken. One half wrap had lost its filling before getting to us.<br/>But then came dessert and coffee. Alien - amaze balls, snickers and wagon wheel will never be the same. And the Cookie Monster just divine. Definitely the place for that special cake or treat.
Eat Canberra
I have been going to Ricardo's for years! It's a super busy cafe that serves amazing looking and delicious cakes, yummy food, good coffee and consistent service. They recently opened another cafe in Woden called Space. A good cafe in the suburbs and somewhere you can also go for high tea. I've taken visitors here from interstate and we usually get smaller cakes from Ricardo's to celebrate birthdays! It's a great way to taste a bit of everything. I've also ordered larger cakes for special occasions! Ricardo's is like Canberra's Zumbo. If you want a cronut or a macaron in Canberra you'll find them here! The cake cabinet is insane!
DisCallsForAMuzz
I haven't been to Ricardo's Cafe in awhile since they changed their menu, most foods on the menu are no longer as good as before, however, their desserts have stayed the same and would recommend this place just for desserts and coffee<br/><br/>Dis place used to call for a muzz.
MoodandFood
I've visited this cafe for their lunch menu before, trying a wagyu beef burger and fish and chips, both were delicious and worth their value, however it is their display cabinet filled with sweet treats and cronuts that makes you want to come back. <br/><br/>On multiple occasions I have visited to try their new flavours of cronuts. Nutella is always there, and never disappoints, but new flavours are introduced now and then such as cereal milk, snickers, pineapple with lime curd, and my favourite - peanut butter. Each cronut comes with a syringe allowing you to have ooey gooey filling in every mouthful, and for $5.90 I believe it is well worth it. <br/><br/>The desserts cabinet is always brightly lit with wonderful and colourful desserts all $9.90, my favourite (besides the cronuts) being the 'cookie monster' or the 'golden gay times' - hazelnut mouse shaped as the ice cream, dipped in chocolate and coated with hazelnuts.
Adventures In Winterland
After seeing the cake display cabinet at sister venture Space Kitchen, I knew I had to stop in at Ricardo’s Cafe to try something from their extensive selection. Friends had raved about the cannoli there, but I was sucked in by the incredibly beautiful (and large) cakes in the display cabinet, and after much deliberation (the Cookie Monster? Snickers Gaytime?), I ordered the Raspberry Dome ($9.90) to dine in. The serving is massive – I would recommend sharing, otherwise the staff are happy to provide takeaway containers, so none of the deliciousness goes to waste. This cake is at its best when

Always delicious. The smoked salmon breakfast and pulled pork salad are fantastic. Service is great and you never have to wait long, even though they're always busy.

For our last day in Canberra, we had decided to visit the infamous Patissez of freakshake fame before visiting Floriade. Given its popularity, we were warned to show up to the cafe early otherwise we would face a long wait but that idea went out the window after the eventful night before. So instead, we headed to brunch at A's alternative suggestion: Ricardo's Cafe.<br/><br/>Once you adjust to the fact that Ricardo's is located unassumingly in a suburban shopping plaza, the first thing that strikes you upon entering is the extensive dessert display. Whereas most cafes will have a measly few options near the counter, here at Ricardo's, the dessert is heralded with a wondrous long display. After carefully eyeing the options, we placed our orders for brunch.<br/><br/>In spite of the decadent dessert collection (or to counteract it?), the rest of the menu is very healthy. I started the morning with a mint hot chocolate, which was served in a sizeable mug. I don't usually drink hot chocolate because it is too sweet for my palate but made an exception to try the minty version and it was very good. The mint cut through the sweetness and gave it a pleasant contrasting taste.<br/><br/>Brunch consisted of a confit salmon frittata, which took some time to arrive. In fact, it was the second-last dish to arrive, in front of the burger (they must have been killing a live cow in the back!). I must admit that I was quite surprised when this dish of green came out. All the dishes were very green, perhaps a little too green. Whilst I liked the salmon frittata, the dish tasted like a salad with all the leaves. I have decided that I do not like beetroot in any form except fresh and preferably in a burger or kebab or sandwich of some sort - I wasn't a fan of the beetroot hummus at all and it became quite overwhelming after a short while. The entire dish felt like a bit of a struggle to finish and it wasn't because I had too much hot chocolate before eating. I am just not cut out for the healthy lifestyle...

The cakes look sensational, service was prompt and breakfast excellent. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy food with a variety of choice.

Great cronuts; good breakfast/brunch options; cakes can sometimes be hit and miss but on the whole they're quite good; high tea is also good value for money. Definitely my go to place for brunch and coffee/cake.

Positive but the meals were too salty and way to much I could barely eat half of my serving <br/>Good service just too salty for me<br/>Wasn't even any sauce 😕<br/>

Tiramisu French Toast. Super delicious!!

Seriously best cronuts I've eaten. Bravo. All food and drinks were excellent . Sweet treats were outstanding . Service was efficient and friendly. <br/><br/>I'd seriously drive from Sydney again just for those cronuts. Well played canberra :) :)

Desperately needs an automatic door - freezing when people leave the door open!<br/><br/><br/>-----31 Mar, 2015-----<br/><br/>Mixed feelings. If you want elaborate sweet cakes or sweet breakfast meal could be the place for you. But if you want something simple like poached eggs or fruit toast AVOID Ricardos. Coffee from Ona is good. Unfortunately the service is quite slap dash and does not match up to the price.

Has been absolutely fantastic the last couple of times I have been, but came later in the afternoon today and nearly their entire selection of cakes were gone. I ordered the last of the Salted Caramel mousse, and the staff subsequently sold it to someone else by accident. A staff member asked me if I would like another cake from the window and I chose one of the few that were left which was of a lesser value. Was not offered anything else and not refunded the difference - was waiting quite a while until my new order arrived. I am quite disappointed that the high standards I had come to expect had dropped considerably this afternoon. They are generally fantastic, but I won't be making any special trips just to go to Ricardo's in future. My advice: come for breakfast/brunch, but don't go for afternoon tea as there seems to be less staff and only a fraction of the cakes on offer.
Tammy-v
Amazing looking desserts, unfortunately my beef wagyu cheese burger wasn't very nice, the beef was extremely dry! <br/>But look forward to trying the desserts next time

Average food, just a large variety of colourful pastries. Average.

Overrated. Expensive burgers given that they don't even come with chips and no table service. <br/>No ice in the juices despite it is summer.<br/>Cakes are fantastic looking. ...but some ar very sweet!<br/><br/><br/>-----05 Jan, 2015-----<br/><br/>Overrated. Over priced and over rated!. Not sure what all the fuss is about. We've tried breakfast here twice and both times been very disappointed. Food is not great and very expensive and our booking had not even been set up, luckily there was a table free still. They said they had been too busy to sort out the bookings, very poor!!
Postalice
Poorly prepared food amateurish service. Suburban canteen not worth the effort. High prices really bad service. Wouldn't go back.

Portuguese tart was MOLDY on the pastry. Implying the pastry sheet was likely moldy before they even baked it.

Usual Canberra attitue. The wife really loves this place and wants to return. So we had planned to have Sunday morning tea. I know it's busy, so I call to make a booking. The call goes like this:<br/>"Hi, can I make a booking for five for tomorrow"<br/>"Sorry, we only book a minimum of six"<br/>"Fine, I'll find another guest to join us, can we please book for six"<br/>*goes to talk to manager*<br/>"We can only book for six"<br/>"ok - Please book me for six"<br/>Without hesistation - "Sorry, we are fully booked tomorrow morning, but if you come at that time we will be able to seat you"<br/><br/>WTF? If you are fully booked, I'm not going to stand in your doorway for 20 minutes like a fool. THAT's WHAT BOOKINGS ARE FOR.<br/><br/>Such Canberra garbage - minimum booking numbers! (Just like Smoque, which has an equally crappy booking policy - so we don't go there either, now).

Who would have thought there would be a little bit of Paris at the Jammo?. Finally an interesting, French style patisserie that isn't all the way out in Fyshwick. Lovely pastries, perfect macarons, unique and ever-changing treats in a display cabinet that would fit in anywhere in Paris plus good service. Can you tell I love this place?
Jef425
Always perfect. Starting going to Riccardo's about 6 months ago. It's hand down the best cafe I have ever eaten in. <br/><br/>The food is always perfectly done, very fresh and yummy. They are always busy but the excellent staff find us a table in seconds every week. <br/><br/>Give it a try if you haven't.

Great breakfast :)

Love hate relationship. I used to love love love going to Ricardos, it was my go to brunch spot. But I noticed last year the food quality and service started to go down hill as they tried to pack more and more people into the cafe... It feels like you're in an eatery, you can barely hear yourself. Nor is it fun sitting outside in the cold (if you're unlucky enough to not score a table in the purpose built outdoor area). My food usually comes out lukewarm, and disappointingly average tasting.
Jessica
Amazing 10/10. Iv heard so much about this place from the food to the cakes and coffee. <br/>But I had to see it for myself to believe it and as soon as I walked in there's this amazing display of desserts like no other not only in Canberra but anywhere iv ever been and we were told everything is made by hand in store by a team of pastry chefs. <br/>First we started with lunch and had the Calamari and my friend had the cheese burger both dishes were very well presented and tasted great then we had to have dessert so I had the caramel mousse which was amazing and my friend had the apple cheese cake with looked like an apple and even had little apple pearls inside. We also shared a few macarons which were all fantastic and all made on the premises. <br/>There is seriously nothing like this and the whole time we were there the line was out the door so for the volume they are doing they could teach a lot of other cafes out there a thing or two. <br/><br/>I don't usually write reviews but I think people we are all too quick to judge and be negative but don't praise enough when something is great and unique like Ricardo's cafe.

Used to love the macarons there espwsgally that passion fruit one but now they are average at best, I went on a late afternoon and they were taking them out of big boxes, looks like they buy them now.. I also gas a lemon tart, it was amazing my new fav ricardos cake since the macarons became yuck

Yummo!!. One word... CRONUTS! :)

Amazing!. We visited Ricardo's recently for morning coffee. It was so popular the queue was out the door. Wonderful selection of well presented food. We had the mango cheesecake and it was delicious. The coffee was exceptionally good! Peter and Christine

Poor service and attitude. Very disappointed in Ricardo's Cafe. My daughter is visiting me from Perth and planned a special day out with her, including lunch at Ricardo's. We ordered a sandwich and a chicken burger, for which we waited some time, about half an hour. I wasn't too concerned about the wait, though, as I know the food is usually excellent. Anyway, my daughter's meal arrived and the waiter put it down on the table and knocked my daughter's drink over. The waiter had put the dish down while standing in front of my daughter instead of standing behind her (basic table serving 101 fail). My daughter was saturated! Her jeans were soaked in cold, sticky Coke. The waiter offered a really offhand "Oh, sorry", and wiped the table with a serviettes while my daughter dripped! I said, could you get a towel or some serviettes for my daughter?". The waiter said: "I need to clean the table." She went away and didn't bring anything to dry off my daughter! I also had to ask for my daughter's drink to be replaced. You wouldn't think you'd have to ask for that!<br/><br/>I spoke to the manager (?) working at the coffee machine, and raised my concerns, and, again, all I got was a really offhand "sorry". He was grinning at me while I spoke like he was a naughty five-year old! So, that caused an abrupt end to our day out. I had to take my daughter home, shivering and upset, and cut short the rest of our plans.<br/><br/> Anyway, I posted a polite complaint on Ricardo's Facebook page (more polite than this one), and they promptly deleted it! I am definitely not happy with the way Ricardo's handles complaints. They need to take a good look at themselves!

Over Rated and Over Priced. The first time I went to Ricardo's I had a lack lustre experience however the raving reviews continued so I decided to try it again, and then again. By the third time of leaving disappointed I decided there are other places in Belconnen that are more deserving of my hard earned cash that would provide a better experience.<br/><br/>Every single time i have been to Ricardo's my coffee has been RUBBISH. I order a large flat white which is as frothy as a cap and so tasteless i have to order another espresso shot to pour inside it, which still doesn't mask the taste of the over heated milk. i must say this surprised me, I don't know if i have just been incredibly unlucky all three times i have been there but i would not recommend for a serious coffee lover. <br/><br/>the food is okay, nothing special and fairly expensive for what you would expect from that area. Although the range of cakes certainly LOOKS impressive, many of them do not taste nearly as good as they look (and they are also fairly pricey). <br/><br/>On a positive note though, they do have a nice outside dining area that is quite warm in the winter. And they have some nice crockery.

A North Side Charmer.. Open early from 7.30am for all day breakfast, lunch and amazing sweets, this place is a north side haven. A large range of menu options that will please your tummy and your wallet. Coffee is usually pretty good and other drinks (smoothies and juices) are great as well. Staff are always charming and are more than happy to discuss any dietary requirements and talk with the kitchen about any issues. Food and drinks come out fast and at good standards every time. Pick up an amazing sweet treat from the cabinet on your way out, you won't regret it!
Sati
Delicious and pricey. The food here is fabulous but can be very pricey. The hot chocolates and coffees are top-notch but be warned - a regular hot choc (if you don't order the mug size) has now been downgraded to a very small glass. I was shocked when it arrived at my table yesterday, after not having been in for a couple of months - it contained less than 200mls. So for $4, not great value, but I wasn't ordering a second!<br/><br/>The macarons are pretty good, but the best I've tasted in Canberra are from Dream Cuisine at Fyshwick.<br/><br/>The food is wonderful - try the Eggs Benedict or the Roast Chicken sandwich. But be warned, this cafe is packed to the brim even on weekdays, and on weekends it's almost impossible to get a table unless you arrive outside of peak times!!! The waitstaff are pretty disorganised and there's no system to ask them to help you find a table or to ask them how long they think one will be. The tables are all pushed very close together and there's no possibility of getting a pram into the middle of the cafe, so if you have a wheelchair or pram, you need a table on the edges near the door, or outside (freezing in winter).

Used to love this place but since they updated their sweets I've gone off it, seems to be too much focus on presentation and keeping up with trends than providing great tasting food. The menu items are not bad though

First time had lunch here on recommendation from a friend. Glad we went was brilliant. Food was amazingly good.

Awesome cakes at good prices. I am amazed at the detail that goes into some of them such as the cheesecakes. Love this place! They do a decent breakfast too.

Really nice cakes! Couldn't believe Jamison centre is hiding such a wonderful cafe. Although these treats are slightly pricey
Snow Crab Nebula
Walking into the cafe, it looked very unremarkable and decidedly un-hip, very much like your average suburban cafe. Although I had been wanting to try their donut with injectable jam, their solitary jam flavour of berry didn't at all excite me. The cronuts, however, piqued my interest. While it was without a doubt decadent, the oil and oozed out as I bit into it was a big turn off. I don't mind eating fats—they are now considered a healthy part of a balanced diet and by many accounts, animal fats like butter and lard are much better for you than say, transfat-laden palm oil. I love a good croissant, the butterier the better. However the fat in this cronut was not butter but just oozing vegetable oil—not my idea of pleasant. Posted by R at 16:17 Email This BlogThis!

...The Croque madame was really warm and comforting on such a rainy morning – carby with meat and cheese, what more do you want really! The bread is crunchy and the ham and cheese are salty and delicious. The egg was cooked beautifully too:

Not sure if it was due to hyped up expectations, but the taste of the cheesecake seemed rather ordinary next to the sheer spherical perfection and technical complexity of the cake. It was quite nice, don't get me wrong. And it's definitely something worth trying at least once. It's certainly impressive looking enough to show off on Facebook or Instagram, but I'm not sure if the taste was good enough to make me crave it enough to make it a regular event.

Ricardo's has introduced self-injecting donuts to the menu. I pick up one of the syringes and slowly squeeze down the trigger to inject the warm jam filling into the side of the donut. Yum.
Foodpornjournal
Introducing the cronut. What is a cronut? Described as a half croissant half donut filled with cream and glazed. Invented by Chef Dominique Ansel at his New York bakery and launched in May this year. The cronut craze has taken the world by storm!
Foodpornjournal
I really like this place - they do amazing little cakes for around $6-$9 each which isn't that pricey. They also change up the cakes each week and introduce new cakes. Their Facebook page provides updates of new cakes and limited edition items. Warning: It also has lots of photos of cakes and the other food on their menu.

First thing you should know about Ricardos is that it is ALWAYS busy. From the moment it opens, people swarm in, and that my friends is a sign that you should be in there too. I have been to Ricardos a number of times, but this time in particular was for a work breakfast farewell. Sadly there was no cake consumed at breakfast (even though I have done it before) but Ricardos would be my top recommendation for sweet treats in Canberra. Their enormous cake fridge is the statement piece of the entire cafe set up. As there was a few of us at the breakfast, we got an idea of the varied spread of dishes available for breakkie.

My friend Elizabeth and I have a lovely tradition of taking each other out for lunch on our birthdays. For Elizabeth's recent birthday she suggested we try Ricardo's Cafe at Jamison Plaza, Canberra. I was vaguely aware of Ricardo's as its high tea has been recommended on the wonderful Her Canberra blog, and Elizabeth was interested in trying the food there as she'd heard they have plenty of gluten free options. They certainly do! Lunch was a delight.

I have been to Ricardo's once before and I was well aware that there will be a beautiful and distracting cake and pastry cabinet that will greet me on arrival. I was however focused on one thing and one thing only; and hallelujah I spotted the cronuts and breathed a massive sigh of relief. <br/><br/>I have to admit that although they looked pretty darn enticing sitting there in the cabinet in all their sugar coated goodness, I was also slightly disappointed that these didn't look anything like THE cronut in terms of their height. These were rather flat and if you didn't know any better you might dismiss these for being just ordinary donuts as they were nothing like the literal high and mighty look of the original cronut in the above photos. But I didn't drive to the other side of the city to judge a book buy it's cover so I ordered myself a takeaway cronut ($3.90) anyway.

Ricardo's is located in Jamison, which used to be a bit of a dive, but has been refurbished and looks pretty slick as of late.

The many times I went to Ricardo’s, the place is never empty. Always packed with “ladies who do brunch”, mummies with bubs, young and old families, all sorts of people! Today was no exception, it was
