Review Silo Bakery Cafe - Canberra

Petrina Stephalicia
Had lovely Eggs Florentine at this bakery. The spinach was well seasoned without being too soggy. Service was efficient. They had a great selection of tarts and quiches. Tarts are rather generous portion sizes. Rating: Food: 8/10 Ambience: 5/10 - The place seems a little dark inside and gives the impression of being cramped. Doesn't appear to be friendly for large groups. I will still return to try out their tarts.

Really tasty food and good coffee. The staff were so helpful and friendly even though it was really busy. Bit of a wait for coffee but gives you more time to decide what treat you want.
Thien Vuong (fooderarri)
The strawberry and blueberry tart from here is delicious and I would certainly recommend it. One of the best bakeries in Canberra. Yours truly @fooderarri
Daniel “Danny”
I had a nice grilled sandwich and a tasty coffee here today. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff

Amazing! Scrumptious breakfasts. Delightful cakes and bread. Delicious coffee. Busy but not uncomfortable. 🙌🙌

Really lovely staff and customer service. Always acknowledges the next person in line even when they are super busy. Pastries are amazing and coffee is good. Always greeted with a smile.
Amy Landry
The best pastry ever. Love the menu. Great takeaway options from the counter that are delicious also. Can be very busy (because it’s so good).
Garek Chung
Super delicious pastries. All four items we ordered came out to be better than expected. Would recommended to visitors of Canberra for an excellent way to start a morning :)

Visit Silo Bakery and Cafe for some of the best breads and pastries around. Located about ten mins drive from Canberra CBD in the trendy little area of Kingston, it’s worth the trip. Their Artisan bread and pastries are made in store and are pretty popular, so be sure to get there early. It’s a small spot with minimal decor and only a few tables to eat at, so it’s best to grab what you want as takeaway.

This bakery is located on Giles Street and a short walk away from our accommodation in Kingston. There was quite a queue to buy the baked goods but it moved quite quickly. I had looked online already to see what was available and there was quite a range to choose from. The service is friendly and efficient. There are tables and chairs both inside and out if you wish to consume your goods immediately especially if you wanted a coffee too.

Although I would’ve loved to try a savoury item I knew we were going out for breakfast later in the day so stuck to the sweet items. I chose a couple of the individual tarts. The Vanilla Brûlée had a lovely custard filling in a great pastry shell. Apple & Almond had slices of apple on top of an almond frangipane filling. Again the pastry was short and delicious. The Pear Galette has crisp pastry and nice glazed pear on top.

Worth a visit here but better to get here early so you don’t miss out on your favourites!

Even the cold pain au chocolat had impressively flaky pastry, while the sourdough baguette seemed heavy enough to fell a horse but was quite fluffy even the next day. I heard the coffee was also good but I won’t believe that in Canberra unless I try it myself.

Very popular cafe in Canberra
Went there on Saturday morning with friends
The food was great. They have special items on the menu which you don’t normally see at other cafes.
Their pastries and sourdough were popular as well.
Emptystomach
The best bakery in ACT. Lovely bread and cakes/ tarts! Lovely service and superb black coffee!
For more foodie goodness follow my ig: emptystomach

Love everything about this place - good coffee, healthy food, and wicked pastries lined up in the showcase. Silo Bakery stands out in an ever changing facade of Kingston in the capital city!

Absolutely had to check it out as have heard great things. Lovely display of treats and baked goods. Sit down cooked meal of piperade omelette with chorizo and eggs Florentine weren’t anything to shout about but the raisin bread with labneh and the breads for both savoury meals were divine.

Arguably the best bakery in Canberra. Amazing sourdough, baguettes and tarts - definitely need to try them. Bread will never be the same after.

An unremarkable experience! Was not overly busy, plenty of seats, plenty of disinterested staff too. Green Tea came in a pot with no cup but a standard water glass...why? Ask for a cup and the guy just gave me one without retrieving the said water glass that remained on our table for the entire disappointing experience. Ordered Eggs Florentine $18, it arrived... two small pieces of sourdough, cooked spinach, 2 small poached eggs and slices of parmesan cheese, asked if hollandaise came with it as the menu only said Eggs Florentine with no explanation, the answer was "No". Asked for chilli jam to at least add a bit of difference from making this at home. Went to pay, expensive! Asked if this feedback could be given to the chef, the checkout girl took offence and told me that Eggs Florentine doesn't come with hollandaise because it's an old traditional recipe - well I guess every other cafe I've been in around the world has got it wrong. Also, being so close to Christmas, it would've been good if 'anyone' showed any sort of interest in being something other than miserable, or was it that they were in Kingston and why should they smile?
Studioprince
Great atmosphere at Silo, a busy hive of activity in warm surroundings, lovely for a winters afternoon. Really interesting menu, well presented and tasty. Don't go in expecting your normal listing of pies and quiches.Appreciated the acoustic treatment on the upper walls to keep the reverberation down so we could chat comfortably.

Best coffee in Canberra. We had some very nice pastries and sat outside watching people walk by. Service a little on the slow side but very friendly.

My hubby had a work barbecue recently and I wanted to bring something tried and tested but super delicious (now is not the time for risky behaviour). Poisoning my hubby’s co-workers could be somewhat limiting career wise, whereas an amazing tart would have them throwing bonuses all round. Money for everyone! I kid, all that was at stake was my pride in wanting to take something amazing. Silo’s chocolate tart perfectly fits the bill. I am a huge fan of copycat restaurant recipes and scour the internet for them. This is not one. This is the genuine real deal people, Silo’s chocolate tart!

One of my favourite places for breakfast/brunch.

Silo is famous for their bread, tart and other pastries so do check them out. And their breakfast are great as well.

Services can be improved yet this place is always busy so it can be a miss some time.

Didn't think much about this place at first glance from outside but once I got inside, it was quite hustle bustle! It was a full house in the morning around 8:40am. I tried the blueberry tart and fruit galette! Was absolutely delicious! Will be back for sure.

I would have given this place a 5. if it had more comfortable seats. Nevertheless, I am perhaps getting unnecessarily fussy in not rating higher.
If you like really good French inspired breads and pastries this is an absolute gem hidden away in Kingston.
I have stopped by a couple of times now when visiting Canberra and am pleased that over the last few visits I have got to appreciate how good this actually is.
By the number of locals lining up for their take away breads and pastries it is obviously well known to them. Super efficient counter service.
Coffee excellent, breakfasts limited in choice but not quality, belt busting selection of pastries.....damn good.

Silo is great for tarts and breads, but they also do a pretty good breakfast. We stopped in one morning and enjoyed the eggs Florentine, and the poached eggs with chilli jam and tomato. Really delicious food and a great atmosphere to watch the bakers as they work. Highly recommend this little slice of France!

Fantastic bakery! I bought a fantastic bread based fruit loaf - sultanas within and grapes and fennel baked on top. Not overly sweet and a fantastic dough, best looking croissants I've seen since France - I was so disappointed to find when I returned for some on Sunday morning that they are closed Sunday and Monday.

Popped in for a coffee and a ham and cheese sandwich. Oddly for silo I had to push the waitress to get me the sandwich, very odd. Ether way, coffee was acceptable.

Delish sandwich, gorgeous bread, lashings of Swiss cheese.

Can't miss it.

Eftpos available. No limit.

Food: 8/10
Ambience: 6/10
Staff: 4/10

Came here around 1 in the afternoon and they were already running out of the delicious and tempting looking tarts so I would recommend going a bit earlier if you want a greater choice, I was recommended by the lovely lady serving us that the 'almond, coconut, pear, rhubarb and blueberry' one (as pictured) is quite popular, and it was delicious! The tart case was nice and short, well baked and contrasted the lovely and soft filling similar to a frangipane. For $7, well worth it. There were other options as well, such as the vanilla creme brûlée (which I've heard is well worth a try) and loads of sourdough bread on the shelves for around the $7 mark as well.
I'll definitely be back soon to try some of their other options.

Good coffee and croissant. However coffee took a while to make and $17.5 felt steep for me. That could be because I'm used to Sydney pricing.
Milcho
This is probably one of the best bakeries in Canberra. Even if you don't know what to order, just ask the people behind the counter and trust their judgment, you will be surprised how yummy their choices will be.

I was exploring the Kingston shops at lunchtime and notice a lot of people walking in and out of Silo Bakery. I felt somewhat drawn in and I was glad I did. The place was a simple bakery/cafe but I think this where it was great. I grabbed a baguette with ham and cheese and a orange brulee. The bread was so fresh and worked so well with just the basic familiar tastes of ham and cheese. It brings me back to memories of boulangeries in Paris. The best part was definitely their orange brulee. It was so smooth and creamy and the perfect subtle hint of orange was just amazing. It definitely left me begging for more. For the two, it will set you back $15... which is a bit on the high end but I think you definitely pay for the quality. Will definitely revisit for their fresh breads and more of those drool worthy desserts.
Let's Nomnom
Known as Canberra's best bakery with its artisan pastries and breads, I joined the queue in Silo Bakery while staring at their display cabinet and just hoping I could still get some as it began to disappear one by one. People came non-stop but service was quite quick to accommodate the crowds. They also serve breakfast menu here but I only fix my eyes on their baked goods.
I got this Vanilla Brulee Tart at last! They were no longer to be seen by the time I finished this and decided to buy more =( This smooth and rich tart was so perfect from the first bite. Flaky and buttery shortcrust pastry, creamy smooth but firm vanilla creme,

crisp caramelised sugar on top, this was truly a sweet way to start the trip!
I also bought their Chocolate Croissant having heard it tastes so close like the one in France.. The croissant was soft and had that cakey core with a slight crispiness on the outer top. It was still tasty and buttery but a slightly heavier with generous chocolate sticks filling..
The Beard Eats
Really delicious bread. Got the strirato, it was still warm from the oven, and so crunchy! Some of the better coffee I've had in ACT, smooth but would have prefered it a bit stronger. Service was quick and attentive, even though it was busy. Would recommend.

Fantastic lunch. Service and food were great. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The tripe dish was excellent.

Service. Visited Silo Bakery sa few days ago on recommendation. Food good, unfortunately service was poor. Had to ask several times for some items ordered and finally be supplied, waiters appeared not interested. My crouisant was cold, took several requests and time to have it heated. Your staff are more interested in themselves than customers, maybe Silo has reached its peak and now going down?
Marilynj_smith
Marilyn of barton. If you want 'RUDE' management & staff just go to Silo Bakery and you will find it every time! I cannot remember a time I haven't encountered rudeness, that is when you can get somebody to serve you!

If the bread wasn't worth tolerating the reception you receive I would vote with my feet and go elsewhere. Perhaps that isn't too far off.
Katherine Morgan
Don't waste your precious weekends. The staff were consistently bad and a little rude. We ordered things which they then had run out of (like vegemite!?) and then they were unable to answer basic questions on menu items. I asked what cheeses were on the cheese platter and she left for ten minutes and went to serve other people. If I was by myself or a smaller group I would have left immediately after standing at the door 1m from 4 waitresses for ages without any greeting.

Find a different brunch spot that doesn't make you work harder to get your food than the staff are working.
Andrew Bell
Grain salad with haloumi is to die for. Just a perfect dish.
Makiact
Poor service. I like some pastries in this cafe, but one of the female staff is very rude. That's disappointing for me every time.
Jj_chili
Great food, nice staff and great atmosphere. I really loved this place. Would like to eat there again!
Anaphase
Excellent bakery. Love their baked goods (pastries, bread, pre-made rolls), really really excellent tarts. The staff seem more geared towards being 'efficient' rather than 'friendly' (but to be clear, they are not rude), so I've never eaten in there as it doesn't seem like a super-friendly place to eat in (it's very narrow, and *very* busy).
Laura
Lives up to expectation. Finally got to eat here after many failed attempts and it didn't disappoint. We were lucky enough to score a table outside on a busy Saturday morning. We ordered coffees as soon as we sat down and they came out quickly as did our meals. Everyone was happy with their breakfast, can't wait to go on next trip to Canberra.
Emma
Yummy food but terrible service. Here is a tip Silo, if you are booking your tables under 'sessions' then warn your customers when they book. We were kicked out (one of us heavily pregnant) to make space inside for a table already seated outside. There was already two completely empty tables inside that could of been pushed together. A little communication goes a long way with customer service!!
Kadots
Lovely pastries. The pastries are great, so I'd definitely come back to get some but I don't think I'll dine in again. The lunch menu was very limited.
Stu
The coffee was a little disappointing, given the hype. The omelettes were quite nice. But the staff held themselves as if they had just seen a thousand puppies executed in front of a group of orphans. Monotone and saying the bare minimum, coming across as pretentious and inconvenienced by our presence. They left it to the last minute to show any shred of personality, better late than never. The man clearing our table placed a coffee cup on the remaining half of the omelette we asked to be boxed. He returned when he realised what he had done, apologised and explained he was distracted and they would make a full new omelette. Which was greatly appreciated. Mistakes happen, he dealt with it well. Wouldn't hurry back but might give it another chance, given I'm local.
Rebecca
Vegan breakfast. I ordered a vegan breakfast that was also gluten free here a few months back and it was great. Will take my husband one weekend so he can try it!
Sam
Defiantly not as good as it used
To be, the staff were abrupt and rude. Also they have stopped making the chicken Caesar roll. Not going any more
VJPringle
Silo, Kingston. This place is consistently good. The bakery is amazing.
Amy Mathew
Yes they are busy, but the food was excellent. Highly recommended.
John McSweeney
Overrated. Terrible, terrible coffee. Virtually no gluten free choices. This is one of those places that make you feel like a pain in the arse, a waste of space, that you should feel grateful and honoured for simply eating and drinking there. Go to Idelic a few doors down, you won't regret it. Less wannabes too.
Tamara Korsten
Best Lunch in Canberra. Consistently the best lunch in Canberra.Discreet and prompt service.
The large tart on Friday/ Saturday afternoon that comes out about 2 is the best- perfect proportions of pastry to centre
CLC
Bit disappointed. My wife and i stopped in here recently for a vegetarian quiche, almond croissant, brulee tart, latte and chai latte.
The bad - the chai latte was the most watery, worse excuse for a chai latte we've ever come across. We would've taken it back if we weren't already 10 mins away. Absolutely shocking. For future customers' sake, i can only hope we got unlucky.

The good- the brulee tart was delicious. Great pastry, great filing.

The average- everything else we had. The "vegetarian" quiche was tasty, but majorly lacking in the vegetable department aside from a bit of basil on the top.

My favourite place in Canberra. The highlight of my week is my early Saturday breakfast at Silo. I have been going so many times I have almost learnt all the names of the staff, so I admit my review is slightly coloured; I think it is an outstanding place. Having visited France and Paris earlier this year, I would claim that the bread and pastries at Silo are as good as anything I got there. It is all baked fresh and by hand, so one of the things I love is that every time I go the croissants will be slightly different, ranging from simply great to brilliant. The sourdough breads are solid and packed with flavour, and it is one of life's great pleasures to be able to walk out of the bakery on a freezing cold winter morning cuddling a steaming warm and aromatic loaf of bread. The coffee is always great and they make a great selection (albeit small) of fresh juices. The chilli jam on the eggs is packed with spice and flavour without blowing my head off. The selection of cheeses in the special cheese room is a treat. The other day I had the Andalucian Tripe for lunch and wow, it was amazing; perfect winter fare. The only problem is that it is so popular it can be so terribly busy; don't be put off if you turn up and it is packed, the nice staff will take your name and within no more than about 10 minutes you will normally get a table. Don't try and get two tables and expect to get it too quick though. The staff have been terrific to us, and it is one of the reasons why we keep coming back every week. I have seen some people getting annoyed at the staff, but I have to say that I have never seen any good reason for them to do so; if you are impatient and demand attention when you are surrounded by so many people waiting to be served then I actually am only surprised that the staff is so professional they don't snap. While I respect the right of people to complain of bad food and service, I can say that I have been to Silo probably over 100 times in the last three years and I can say that I have always been happy to go there and eat with the friendly staff. It is my favourite place for a reason.
Peppermint
Ordinary. Have seen lots of people coming in and out with bread and cakes, so thought I would try, purchased pastrie which was overcooked, overcharged for my purchase, don't think will try again.
Sati
Never going back!. Great bread, but that's where it stops. Food is overpriced and stingy. The service is absolutely foul; I've never experienced anything like it. The owner is a gorgon and screams at her staff constantly - you can hear her being very nasty to them. We've stopped going for these reasons and can't recommend it at all, with other much nicer cafes in Kingston to visit!
Reasie
Visited here last year and loved it so thought we'd give it another go today. Food came before drinks, a few other tables didnt have drinks either.
Food was nothing spectacular, I think the pazazz has gone out of their ideas.
Surprisingly busy, but the food was average.
Hopefully will get better.
Jane C
Can't stand this place. Possibly the worst service in Canberra.
Overpriced, small portion sizes and rude staff.
Would not eat here if you paid me.
Dolce Vita
Breakfast worth looking for.. An easy bike ride from the city centre, Silo Bakery elevates the meaning of bakery from a vision of matchsticks and eclairs to something more international. The smell of coffee and patisserie is proceeded by great service and fantastic food. We were there for breakfast and found it difficult to choose ... The basque omelette was heavenly with just the right touch of spice. The bread was perfect.
The K-Blog
Just don't bother. I'm sure the staff are busy, but that's just no excuse for a lack of personality. I ordered the fried eggs, bacon and mushrooms. One of my eggs was not cooked, so I left it. Nobody asked me why, even when they (finally) brought me my coffee. They also lost my bill. No great loss there. My advice: go for the fantastic pastries/tarts/breads but do the takeaway thing. Telopea Park is a much nicer environment!
@CoolburgFoodie
The menu is a little different to most breakfast places which makes it interesting. What spoiled it for me was the lack of attention and the attitude coming from the staff. I find a lot of the staff at these "new happening eateries" think they own the place and invented food... Ah, you just work there... Some good old humble old fashioned service wouldn't go astray in Australia these days.
Brett Scholz
Ok. But nowhere near amazing.. There are plenty of other places I would go to before Silo. Yes, their pumpkin pie is to-die-for. But besides this their food is without imagination, their service is lacking, and the experience will likely be a let down.

If you must go to Silo - just pick up the pumpkin pie and take it away to eat with friends elsewhere.
Jacsbutton
Food is amazing, dining in or takeaway. The staff are not rude just busy which is a shock to some Canberrans but go to Melbourne and this is how it rolls! Don't be put off by negative people it's really worth a visit.
Anna Banana
Rude staff. Great eggs, terrible staff. Seriously, the snooty staff are all I remember about this place now.
Carol Denehy
The food says it all amd the food is great. Yes, it can be busy and noisy & the staff can sometimes get distracted, but I've eaten there 20 times at least and have never had a bad meal. Today it was mushroom & blue cheese pizza but their desserts are great too
Annie Belle
This is a great spot, just like a cafe you'd find in Melbourne. They are always busy and don't take bookings, which is annoying. Their lunches are great and their pastries are to die for. Though they are always crowded the service is always quite good - definitely more than the average cafe in this part of Canberra!
Eat_Quaff
Don't do it. This is the most overrated place in Canberra. This also has the worst service i have ever seen, including the time I was overseas on the street in Hong Kong and had to charade my order and still managed to have a smile on my face.

I don't care how good they think their produce is it's not worth being treated like a dollar sign. You'll find this is far more quantity over quality.

Over. Over. Overrated.
Gin
Way too small for comfort.. Silo bakes great bread.

But when it comes to dining in, they jam the patrons in like sardines and expect them to be grateful for the privilege. Meanwhile the queue of people trying to buy bread, pastries, or just pay and get the hell out of there leaves the waitstaff with no room to move and the diners sitting with a passing parade of asses under their noses.

Redesign the layout or get premises that you can actually fit into.
Epicurious Peg
Silo wouldn't be out if place in a modern European city. It was hard to decide which pastry to have as everything looked so good, and delivered on the palate. What they charged was excellent value for the quality you get. The pastries were fresh, the pizza was tasty & original, and the ambience was tres authentic. As a tourist in Canberra, it was such good luck stumbling across this little gem.
Nancy Nobody
Busy Floor, but quick service!. The Silo Bakery has always been a mystery to me as I've never successfully managed to get a table there. It's always so busy - but this Saturday we had some luck!
It was full to capacity (as usual), but we received our delicious food within a reasonable time, if not a bit quick.
The quality of the food was great, and so were their breads!

Will definitely try and get a table there again and sample more of their sweets!
Bernadetteq
Friendly.. We are visitors to Canberra. Went there for second day in a row. Greeted by staff. They even remembered our order from yesterday. Best coffee so far in Canberra
Jonathan
Great Danishes!!. Silo bakery has the best Danish pastries!!
Ryan
Tasty treats. Great bread, coffee and pastry goodness, but just don't expect it with a smile or great service.
Definitely worth a visit, but be early as seats can be hard to find. Oh, it can also get very noisy.
Paul
Tarts. Best tarts in canberra especially lemon meringue and orange brulee. The crossiants and sour dough bread is a must try too.
Kevin McDonald
Beautiful People?. All the beautiful folk can be found there winding their way through the cheese room. Probably one of the best cheese shops in Canberra.

This place is always crowded and always beautiful - the bread is pretty damn find too.

Worth a visit, but be early. Oh, it can also get very noisy.
Fiona
The best French bread and pastries in the ACT. The coffee can take forever to come out and tables can be very hard to come by. Spanish eggs are fabulous.
Christian
Rude arrogant staff ruined this for me. I had heard such good things about their food, but the way we were treated means I will never venture here again

When talking about bakeries in Canberra, it would be extremely remiss of one to omit Silo in Kingston. Silo is a family-owned local business and I believe it has always been the same people who’ve owned it. I was surprised to find out that the owners are in fact not French, given the bakery’s popularity within Canberra’s French community. The small establishment has been a local gem for over a decade now.

Silo Bakery in Kingston has a well earned reputation as one of the best Canberra eateries for breakfast or brunch…and I absolutely agree. The beautifully created tarts and pastries and breads, set the high standard for hospitality. Service is personal and nothing is too much trouble. When a breakfast dish was ordered to share, it arrived very thoughtfully served on two plates.
The Hedonist Life
.....this is another impressive place in Canberra and whether or not you go for take away tarts or eat in for breakfast I’d put Silo Bakery + Cafe on your list of places to visit quick smart.

As part of Good Food Month, Silo Bakery in Kingston is holding a 3-course set lunch menu for $38. This offer is available Tuesday to Saturday lunch during the month of October. I was greeted at the door and shown to a table. The set lunch menu was explained to me and includes either a glass of wine, Coopers Pale Ale or sparkling mineral water. Since I don’t drink, I chose the sparkling mineral water. The entree consisted of Oysters Rockerfeller which is topped with spinach and cheese before being baked. These were still steaming when they came out. The main was the beef daube with gougère (a savoury choux pastry) and ortie (nettle). The beef was tender and fell apart easily. I loved the simple red wine jus – delicious! I’ve never eaten nettle before. To me it tasted a bit like spinach. I was glad for the small portion as dessert was coming next. A coffee is included with dessert and I ordered my usual soy mocha. I couldn’t taste much chocolate in it so I only drank half of it. Dessert was a clafoutis (a baked French tart with fruit) and I was surprised to see such a huge slice. This clafoutis was topped with pear and cherries, smothered in syrup with a dollop of crème fraîche on the side. I INHALED this dessert. It had been warmed up so the flan-like custardy batter was gooey and warm, and incredibly moorish. Major foodgasm. The thin soft biscuit base was a nice support to the flan-like batter. I’ll definitely be ordering more of these tarts! If you haven’t been to Silo Bakery yet, here’s a shot of some of the tarts (all $6) available that day. Larger tarts are also available but limited, so best to pre-order the larger sizes. A range of breads from $5-7 are available to purchase and are displayed on the back shelf. There are also a range of savoury tarts, focaccias and rolls you can take away for lunch. I bought some tarts to take away – the orange brulee (left) and caramelised pear tart (right). Silo Bakery is always busy and packed on a Saturday morning, so best
Gobbled And Gulped
Inside the place was bustling, there’s a non-stop queue of punters streaming through for baked goods to go. The display of which caused me no end of distraction. Seriously look at this… We resolved there would be treats to go and I tried to concentrate on the task at hand of selecting breakfast. As well as their ridiculously good-looking baked goods, Silo also houses a collection of cheeses in their dedicated

Our first breakfast at Silo Bakery It’s Saturday morning and we need breakfast. Bron suggested Silo Bakery and Cafe in Kingston. It also meant we could visit the Essential Ingredient too. The menu is pretty good as is the coffee :-) Breakfast is served 7 am to 11.30 am

I had the Basque omelette with piperade, chorizo, tomato, chilli and pimento which was absolutely delicious.

The menu seemed to have a lot of options but we were only looking for a simple bite. Perhaps if I was not seated in the back hallway, I would have ordered something a little ...
Missklicious
Probably the most raved about place in Canberra - Silo Bakery is famous for their tarts, bread and cheese room. I visited on a late Saturday afternoon, so there wasn't as much choice as I'd hoped for Selection of glistening tarts just waiting to be eaten I settled for a yummy mocha. Silo use Cosmorex And one of their tarts... perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon... mmmm Silo Bakery 36 Giles Street Kingston ACT 2604 Posted by missklicious at

The quiche had a nice balance of flavours and the egg was light and fluffy! I would have preferred if it was slightly bigger though.

Silo Bakery is known for its artisan breads, pastries, cheese room and breakfasts. The flow of customers here is non-stop, and the dining area - mostly a long narrow stretch along one wall that extends to a back room - is filled with locals cradling cups of coffee, chatting with friends or engrossed in the newspaper.
Sarah Cooks
Silo is Canberra's best place for breakfast, with tasty cooked breakfasts, scumdidilyuptious baked goods and a cheese room. It's located in the affluent Kingston area, and gets packed on weekend mornings. So, if you're only going to be in Canberra for one weekend (and let's face it, you probably will be), make sure you get there early to avoid the queue!
