Review Pizza Gusto - Canberra

Peter Guy
Great wood fired Pizza! We ordered as a family and decided to sit out the the front on the nice wooden table and benches. Great location next to a bottle shop to grab a few drinks to accompany the pizza. The pizza arrived sooner than expected which was fantastic considering the hungry kids we had ready to eat. Great flavour, nice crisp thin base, exactly what we needed after a day out and about exploring the Nations Capital. Highly recommend

Very nice, big (13 inch) wood fire pizza with plenty of toppings. One Pizza was enough for the 2 of us. Fast and friendly service. Take away or eat there on the outdoor tables. BYO wine or beer, it can also be bought from the bottle shop next door.

I had a prawn pizza and was delicious. Light thin base, topped with rocket and lashings of olive oil. I'll be back! Dine in is nothing fancy but clean, simple and easy. Heaters kept me warm. Great atmosphere, great service with a 😃 smile. Loved it.

Best pizza in Canberra, crispy crust full of flavours. If they say “your pizza will be ready in 20 mins” it WILL be ready in 20! I will 100% recommend this place.

Great pizza, maybe one of the better places to get pizza in Canberra. This place mainly runs as a takeaway but there is some seating outside.

Best tasting pizza’s I’ve had in a long time. So glad we dropped in here on our holiday to Canberra. Highly recommend! Delicious!

Loved the pizzas from here. I highly recommend the truffle funghi pizza. The quattro Gusti pizza didn't come with four different types of pizza toppings - instead it only had 2. I didn't mind though. One thing that took us by surprise was that the cappricciosa pizza came with pineapple which was not in the description. Anyways my wife picked off all the pineapple and gave it to me instead. Again I didn't mind. I feel like their mistakes are not considered mistakes in the world of pizzas because their pizzas were so good.

Managed to grab a table on a fairly busy Saturday night. Ordered 4 pizzas and were told they’d be ready at 6:40. Bang on 6:40 they were calling our name. Pizzas were fully loaded and by far one of the best pizza shops in town. Dough was well prepared and lots of ingredients added.

We make thin crust wood oven pizzas at our winery cellar door in the Adelaide Hills. This place is tiny (seating 16 inside) but full and doing a roaring trade. BYO from the next door Cellebrations (a match made in Heaven?) and suberb freshly made thin crust bases with 3 or 4 toppings. We had an Affetato (thinly shaved leg ham, spicy salami and prosciutto) and a Gusto (bocconcini, prosciutto and rocket) plus a bottle of Nick O'Leary Tempranillo.

This was the best and most authentic Italian wood fired pizza I've ever had in Canberra. Definitely coming back
Andrew Gilbert
Flaccid and cold takeaway collected on time. Anemic and soggy base, cheap olives and rubbery cheese, boccachni you wish and no pepper in the place at all. Disappointing compared with a few years ago

The pizza is far the best I have. We keep coming back. The people are nice too.

First time to have this pizza.i eat pizza VERY REGULARLY and have done for many years. This was complete rubbish! My mates, pizza hut, pizza capers, domino's ,pick any chain you like and it would not even compete with these, let alone any real good pizza places.I live in a small country town called Shepparton and ANY OF THE MANY would be better than this.

Best pizza I've had in Canberra. The staff are really friendly too.

Just finished a pizza, service was good and friendly, prices were reasonable. All credit to you for opening a wood fire pizza place in Canberra. However, having just returned from 5 years in Melbourne, and being Italian, there are a lot of improvements to be made. Make a trip to 400 Gradi or Scoosi if ever in Melbourne, a lot to take away from their brilliant operation and art in true Italian pizza making.

Didn't expect to find such great pizza on our little stay in Canberra! Beautiful wood fired, crispy thin crust, quality toppings. Kids loved it too! Highly recommended

Amazing. Most delicious pizza we've ever eaten. Great service too. We'll be back for more.!!

We tried five places in Braddon area that sold pizza and none were as good as these.

Perfect pizza, great service but we got a bit chilly eating outside. Guess we're not used to the ACT weather! See you next Sharks game!

Really great Gluten Free Pizza, and quick service as well.
Alyson Burgess
Delicious pizza, well priced and friendly service. I will definitely be going back for more!

The pizza at Gusto is fantastic
Yorkie_Traveller
Stumbled across this place, was really busy so thought we’d give it a go. Ordered pizza and garlic bread. Pizza was fantastic but the garlic bread was a bit on the dry side, like it had been sat under a heat lamp while the pizza was being done.

Popular for a reason! Place was packed but when ordering we were given an expected time when it would be ready. Thin crust wood fired pizza. Tasty! They dont sell alcohol but there is a Celebrations liquor store right next door where you could buy a bottle of wine and bring it over to your table which was great.

A great little spot, good service and a fantastic selection of pizzas. Not too much seating and it was quite busy. It isn’t licensed but would be great if it was. Quality of pizza was very good, great cheese and a classic wood fire crust.

I highly recommend the pizza here. One of those places where you can eat a whole pizza and not feel terribly guilty about it. Friendly service too.

One of the coolest pizza shops in Canberra!<br/><br/>I am fan of their pizza and the set up of the place. The vibe at night is amazing and very chill.<br/><br/>Would highly recommend Pizza Gusto.<br/><br/>

Visitor from Melbourne having a quick stop in Canberra. Made a phone order, friendly and polite.<br/>Told me pizza would be ready in 30mins (Sat night), arrived and pizza ready on time. Must say I was surprised how good it really was. Nice thin, crusty base cooked in a wood fired oven to perfection with fresh, tasty ingredients 🍕👌🏽<br/>Well done to all at Pizza Gusto 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Amazing woodfire pizza!! A but of a wait during dinner time, but it is worth it! <br/><br/>We got the potato pizza and half margarita half meatlovers. It is cheesy, smoky and delicious. Unfortunately one of our pizza crust was a bit burnt.<br/><br/>The potato pizza has a garlic oil vase, which made it extra yummy! <br/>Loved it!

The pizza was amazing! We got takeaway and it was so good! We had the meat lovers one and prawn one. They were both great but the prawn one was the best.

Best woodfired pizzas in Canberra, period. Only problem is that it has become so popular that sometimes there is a 40 min plus wait if you leave it until 8pm or so.
Torys
Great Woodford pizza, definitely one of the best in Canberra. The base isn't too thick and all of the ingredients tasted of high quality, the garlic truffle base was especially delicious and it was good to see that the pizza maestros didn't cheap out on ingredients. <br/><br/>I'd definitely recommend takeaway as the interior is pretty dull and uninspired, however, the food definitely makes up for it!

Probably the best pizza in Canberra. This is a no frills pizza joint and it's brilliant. My one issue is that the no frills approach extends to only accepting cash, but it's a minor gripe. BYO and conveniently located next to a bottle-o.
Brian Eats
Pizza is Canberra doesn't get much better than this, particularly when you can grab a 6-pack from the bottle shop next door and enjoy it all out the front while watching the world go by. Only minor gripe is that the last time I ordered the mushroom and truffle, there was hardly any truffle flavour. But otherwise, the base, amount of toppings etc is on point.

Tried 50 times to call to get a pizza; have they only got one phone,,, what the? Lost my business. I go here all the time<br/>Pizzas are great but consistently to call through its constantly engaged; you can't leave a message can't order online and seems they only have one phone line<br/><br/>Get with the program gusto pizza... Be available to do business with.<br/><br/>You just lost my pizza business because you are too hard to call and get hold of

Pizza Gusto, open Tuesday-Sunday for dinner, on Lonsdale Street Braddon, definitely qualifies as a cheap and cheerful gem. Excellent pizzas are large enough for two and less than $20. Corkage is free and there’s a bottle shop next door...
BT
Fresh, tasty pizza. Ready exactly when they said so (15 mins). Quality ingerdients but a little too expensive for pizza. Shave $5 and I couldn't fault this place!

Good pizza, deficient staff. Staff let my pizza go cold while I waited at counter.<br/><br/>I ordered takeaway on a Thursday night at 7.40pm. I was told it would take 50 minutes. I arrived at the shop at 8.20ish and was told the pizzas were about to be put in, and would take 5 minutes. <br/><br/>I then stood there, with another person, 2 metres in front of the counter for 20 minutes, waiting for my order to be called. When I finally asked, it turned out my pizza was sitting on the bottom of the takeaway stack, getting cold. <br/><br/>I checked upon arrival, stood in front of the staff for 20 minutes, and at no point did any of the 5 staff on that night think to check on what I was waiting for, let alone yell out my name when the order was done. <br/><br/>I went home and had to reheat the pizza.

Disappointed. We had high hopes of this place and could not have been more disappointed. We had hoped for simple wood fired pizza with quality ingredients. What we got was wood fired, sure. But the cheese was barely melted, the prawns were tiny, the sauce lacking in flavour. Both pizzas, in fact, we're quite flavourless. We won't be going back, and will be recommending to anyone we know that they spend their $20 a pizza at crust- or anywhere else- as they're sure to do a better job.
Yum Food
Don't bother. Management treat customers rudely and orders are late. Cash only and there isn't much room to sit down. Debacles is across the road and Crust is around the corner - they serve good pizzas and accept credit cards.
Alex
Great pizza, had to wait a bit but it was seriously busy. Really enjoyed the gusto. We will go back!

Pizzas delicious... Service.... Pizzas delicious...<br/>Service awful...front desk staff member RUDE! Told us she could reserve a table, but only for customers (what are we?) and when we snagged a table, told us to move because she was reserving it for a 'customer'...and the reason: because we had FIVE children...since we had 3 children in party, I suggest you check how she adds up your bill!

Disappointing. Really disappointed with both service and food from Gusto. Not sure I'd go back so I wouldn't recommend.
Scoobyjock
Poor service and overpriced. Definitely don't recommend this place. Extremely rude staff, over priced pizza and completely lacks any kind of fun atmopshere. Poor experience, much better places within walking distance.
Steve J
Consistently bad service. When there are two other pizza shops nearby (debacle and crust), the poor attitude of staff and the lack of eftpos mean this place is not worth it.
Geri.saville2012
Heavenly. The best pizza ever, better than Italy, I had Supremo and it was a dreamo. Amazing.
BDC
The pizza was amazing, but we had to wait almost an hour an extra 30mins on what we were advised while we were ordering.
Facebook User
Ridiculous. No eftpos, rude service, and ordered straight after my friend only to have to wait 30 minutes longer!
Patty
Best pizza in Canberra. These delicious pizzas are surely the closest thing you will find to contemporary, authentic Italian pizzas in the ACT. Not only was the pizza base incredible, but they certainly didn't skimp on the quality ingredients. Couple that with a great price and friendly, welcoming staff, you won't go wrong. Oh... ask about adding a little truffle salt if having the prosciutto pizza, amazing. Will be back!
Foodie
Love this place, simple great pizzas with an excellent base and wood fired to perfection. Sometimes have to wait as it gets busy but overall it's excellent. Love the gusto and boscaiolo
Elspeth Emily
The truffle pizza is DELICIOUS :) <br/>BYO beer policy and outdoor tables lovely on a warm evening.<br/>'Half and half' pizzas accommodate vego & carnivore couples!
Annie Belle
Love this place, we go to the one at Red Hill. It's just a pick up place, but it's tasty wood fired pizza that's big on flavour and not dripping in oil. My pick is the Boscaolo. Always great service though they are popular so sometimes you have to wait - but if you call ahead it's no problem! This continues to be a local favourite for us, and we'll keep coming back!
Alison
Definitely some of the best pizza to be had in Canberra. So tasty! They even do gluten free bases and very good with allergies. But be warned: it is basically just a place to collect pizza. They don't really do eat in at all. Get the patate or the melanzane

Some of the best Pizza in Canberra. Heard heaps of great things about Pizza Gusto and decided to give it a shot instead of going to Debacle across the road. <br/>Reasonable prizes, nice range, authentic flavours and lovely thin crispy bases. 2 pizzas was definitely enough for 3 hungry people. Grab some drinks from the bottle shop next door and sit outside or take it home. <br/>Friendly staff, nice change from all the pizza chains around Canberra and a nice atmosphere.

Nice but not enough topping and only one size
Bernie
Appealing but confusing Part 2. Here's a pic of the Gusto. Once you remove the mountain of rocket, there are only two small pieces of prosciutto on each slice. Personally, I expect more.<br/><br/><br/>-----25 Nov, 2012-----<br/><br/>Appealing but confusing. We've ordered pizzas here a few times as it is a lot more appealing than Crust (more authentic). While it has been tasty, it's disappointing for the price. For instance:<br/>- They don't stock fresh tomatoes; the only tomatoes you can get is the "tomato base" as the staff will tell you. <br/>- Don't expect a lot of topping on the pizza - e.g. literally a few slices of prosciutto.<br/>- There is only one size of pizza.<br/><br/>Maybe they will get better? We hope so since we live in the neighbourhood and wish to order from there, than the chain stores.

Great pizza - traditional, simple flavours and wonderfully cooked using good produce. Usually quick and well priced. Highly recommended

When I rang Pizza Gusto, I asked very sceptically if they took reservations, from what I’ve heard they were just a little establishment boasting delicious pizzas but their business mainly comes from takeaways. They very nicely said yes and asked if I would like to sit inside or outside, without a sarcastic reply after glancing at the frost covered grass, I requested a table for four inside. You have more of a chance of finding a park in Braddon at night so that wasn’t a problem. When we walked in, we saw just how small the restaurant was. Only fitting 5 square cafe tables in max and with a very basic set up which included plastic cups for water that you fill from the outside animal shaped tap, eating out of the pizza box and a flyer for a menu, I knew it had to have amazing pizza to have thrived in Braddon for so long. Pizza (33cm - 8 slices). We were trying to choose classic pizzas with simple ingredients to use it as a measuring stick against every other pizza we’ve had. They came o

To commemorate our first election night in Canberra, A and I headed to our friend M’s election/karaoke gathering, with the main attraction being takeaway pizza from Pizza Gusto in Braddon. During our recent trip to Italy , I learnt that when it comes to pizza – simple is best. Pizza Gusto revolves around this principle, as each pizza consists of a few ingredients and the venue itself is similar to a pizzeria you’ll find in Napoli. If you want to dine in, you take your pizza box to one of the few tables inside or outside their tiny premise (with the majority of the space being taken up by a massive wood-fire oven), help yourself to some tap water (served in plastic cups) and use your paper napkins as plates. Simple, right? After ordering and picking up our pizza, we headed back to M’s to sample the pizza that has Canberra’s population continually heading back to Pizza Gusto for. Between the six of us, we ordered five pizzas, including two Margherita’s ($16). There is nothing better than
