Yay for a decent Vietnamese place in Canberra! The bot chien was delicious (awesome vego entree) and so was the bun bo xao cha gio (mmm, noodly, beefy, spring rolly goodness) but that was almost besides the point - I was just so happy that my friend was introducing me to a VN restaurant in Canberra that is consistently good across the menu! Yum, thumbs up.
Delicious, authentic Vietnamese food. My go-to place for Vietnamese in Civic.
This place is always busy but you donāt have to wait long for the food. Iāve been here a couple of times and itās been consistently good. Their pho serving is decent for the price paid. There is a good selection of traditional Vietnamese dishes. They donāt split bills and Iād recommend you book if you have a group.
This was the place where I dated my husband for the first time. Their special pho is Mr Yuās all time favorite, and I love their vermicelli salad the best. The best Vietnamese restaurant in Canberra!
Really good location and easy to find - right in the middle of Civic.
The atmosphere of Bistroās is perfect for group dining and the waiters were all lovely!
Highlights were definitely the garlic salt and pepper calamari, seafood in claypot and the pho! The calamari were so crispy on the outside and really nicely cooked throughout, and the portion of the claypot was so generous! There was a very large variety of seafood and vegetables within the claypot. The broth of the pho was so good, we finished the whole bowl!
Unfortunately the special broken rice and My Tho style noodles were flops. The noodles were quite hard to chew and all clumped together in the bowl, whilst the crab cake in the special broken rice was cold and didnāt have a very nice texture.
Pho was lovely, such a sweet and homely vibe too! Excellent place right in the heart of Civic. I'd definitely come back when visiting Canberra next!
What wonderful service and food great menu. Outstanding surroundings very relaxing pleasant nice nice. Great location near city centre buses and new tram service
I love Vietnamese food and have been to Bistro Nguyen's several times. I've never had a bad experience! It's priced well and the food is really good.
Great experience and lovely food! I love their entries in particular! Their mini spring rolls are just perfect! Pho is also very authentic! Definitely recommend!
I came in with high expectations after hearing my brotherās praise of this place. It delivered above and beyond any expectations I had. Coming from a Vietnamese background I can guarantee this place is legit. The banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake) had a perfect texture and was delicious with well seasoned filling. The nem nuong (marinated pork) rice paper rolls which were house made also did not disappoint. Finally the beef dac Biet pho was up there on best phos Iāve had. Insanely fresh and tasty broth, meats were beautifully tender and serving size was generous. Decor is modern and authentic and service was genuine. Highly recommend. 10/10
As far as Bun's go this is about as good as it gets. Perhaps a little too much vermicelli but this is a small oversight. This is a popular place and it's easy to see why. The Dear Luncher smashed down the beef and spring roll bun pretty quick, and would happily order this again. And again. This was done in the privacy of The Dear Luncher's hotel room, where there was no shame in slurping it down and getting dressing all over the face like a proper sloth.
