I just had an amazing meal at the White Eagle. I got the veal goulash and then ricotta fritters for dessert (whoch were gluten free). Best dessert!! My parents had the dumplings and said they are the best in Canberra! And the aged vodka is choice. Thanks guys defs coming back

The cheapest and best feed in Canberra. Dont follow the sheep to Braddon, try a plate of perogis and a pint(of 6% Polish beer) for $14 on a wed night, its the best deal in the A.C.T.

A Polish community club in Canberra with a restaurant either borderline hipster styled or time capsule perfect. Dumplings, schnitzels, schnapps and ponies. We've been taking ourselves down to Canberra a few times a year now to buy books for Army of Nerds, part of our Worldwide Group of Industries. Leaving our inner Sydney bubble and strolling the pathways around the Canberra 'burbs in Spring is a tad relaxing, life has a green and gently mellow hum as you idle down Northborne Ave in comparison to the urban grittiness of freeway riddled Sydney. We love ya Sydney but sometimes you're just a dirty old town.

The Wednesday Pierogi Special night at the White Eagle Polish Club across from the O’Connor shops, has been on my wish list ever since CBR Foodie recommended it . There’s a good looking menu Thurs -Sat, but Wednesday night is special night!.  On Wednesdays there’s a choice of  4 different types of pan seared Pierogi Polish dumplings for $10…

Having enjoyed my first visit to Polo at the White Eagle Club in Turner, I was back this week again for the Wednesday night specials. The menu was a little different this time and I think it keeps changing. The Mushroom and Cabbage or Cheese and Potato Pierogi ($10 or $14 with a wine of beer) were still on…

The decor is tacky and the food presentation is certainly not modern, but the food tastes good and that's why you come here. It's also reasonably priced and the drinks are also, which is refreshing in Canberra. You probably don't want to come here on a first date but great for a meal and a few drinks with friends. Also try the Krupnik - polish honey vodka. Delicious to sip on (straight) and hard to find.

You can’t doubt their authenticity when you can clearly see the older Polish couple cooking the food. I’d come back just for a hash brown and dumpling hit but I’d also love to explore more of the menu and maybe even squeeze in a dessert next time (waaaaaaaaaay too full this time!).

Love the food here! It's so unique as we don't get to eat Polish food very often. Make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment as seats are limited. Yours truly @fooderarri

A lovely small club with great perogi and a fab range of Polish beer. Nothing flash though, and there in though lies the beauty...

Top resto, Polo Restaurant, in an most interesting building. It's a gem, fun menu (see attached menu photo) very reasonably priced with generous servings, and for a change, lots of younger people at this Club.

WoW!! New taste sensation at The Polo - Butterscotch Tart. Definitely something to share. Serves with cream! I had to have it but my stomach demanded it had to be a take-away. OK by me!!!!

I dearly love the polo. I remember it from way back when it was a just another club with pokies. I have since rediscovered this hidden gem during covid times. The club itself is a retro wonder. Authentic and almost untouched by gentrification. Check out the restrooms, palaces of tile and troughs of stainless steel. In the library you can dine among the translated works of Poland's writers. There's a shaggy orange rug on the wall and icons of his holiness PJP2. Like many places, the polo had to innovate due to covid. They installed a fairly reliable online booking system and they converted the dance floor into socially distanced dining space. Check in on entry. The polo used to be a lovely little live music venue with a decent stage and room to dance. Dancing is now illegal, but at least the music is back. It's a great space with great sound. The bar stocks your favourite European beers and Aussie wines. They usually have Polish beers but were out last night. Various schnapps to guarantee your hangover. Staff are friendly if you ask them about their day. My favourite thing about the polo is the food. Sure you can get a schnitzel or whatever, but the people come back for the pierogis. So many veg and non veg options to choose from. They have desert pierogis too which will make you wish you ate less at dinner so you still had room. There's a huge freezer full right in the dining room. You can buy some to enjoy at home but why would you when you could come here? Don't ever change. We can grow old together..

Really nicely done dishes, full of flavour and just delicious, and very pleased with the gluten free and vegan options. Very pleasant staff. The Polish club has a bar which is not part of the restaurant, but have a good selection of vodkas, other spirits and also beers which accompany the dishes rather well :-)
