I was desperate to find something that fits for a Chinese stomach. And there it was the little booth Miss Van's. I had that day's special 'Chicken Rice', and it was incredibly good. The chicken was tenderly cooked, and I loved the sauce tasted like fried spring onion and garlic? I was not sure, but it was delivious. The portion was generous and the rice was well cooked as well. I will absolutely recommend this lovely street food booth.

I really like this place. Often there on a Thursday night trying the weekly special. I can't say I'd ever had anything that I haven't liked. Can't wait for the warmer weather to settle in to make it a little more comfortable to dine there. Best bahn mi I've had.

The Pho from Miss Vans is delicious and makes for a cheap, healthy and warming lunch. The setting is really relaxed and the variety of food vendors in the area means if you're going to friends everyone can order what they want.

Delicious, well priced food with great unique weekly specials. Their recurring special pork belly  banh mi is one of the best things that I've ever eaten in Canberra!

I fell in love with Vietnam when I went there four years ago! There are so many beautiful things about it, including the food. Miss Van's is a shipping container at Westside Acton Park. They serve delicious Vietnamese food including Bahn Mi's, Pho and Noodle bowls. Everything is fresh and full of flavour! They also have weekly specials so new things are always available to try but I don't think you could ever get tired of the original menu. It's reasonably priced and there's heaps of places you can sit and eat your Vietnamese feast. You can even take it and eat it by the lake if you want! They're only opened Wed-Sun so make sure you go on one of those days to avoid disappointment. Perfect for a nice, casual meal!

Miss Van’s is perhaps the most popular of the street food options at Westside. Serving colourful dishes full of fresh herbs and classic Vietnamese flavours, it’s a fun spot for a casual lunch or dinner in the good weather. There’s plenty of seating nearby although it can get busy at weekends.

Ah Miss Van’s, how I adore you! On this visit I branched out from my usual banh mi and went for one of the noodle salad bowls, which a colleague had raved about on our last visit. Trust me, this is something you want to order. For a very good value $12, you can get a huge bowl full of Vietnamese chicken and noodle salad perfection. I picked the ginger soy chicken option (they also have lemongrass and chilli tofu for vegetarians) and it is probably the best

Went to Westside Acton Park for the first time today and tried Miss Van's. Definitely the best Vietnamese steet food I've tried so far in Canberra. The Vietnamese iced coffee was excellent; equal parts strong and sweet. The Bahn Mi actually used pickled veggies, unlike some other places, and was one of the best I've eaten to date. They also sell stuff like Pho, Beef salad etc so worth repeated visits just to explore the rest of the menu. It's just a pity the park isn't so busy without the Floriade crowd (or maybe I went at the wrong time)

Miss Van's is located in in a neat little spot by the lake. The small shed based eatery definitely has a great vibe to it and fits right in with New Acton scene.

The Pho from Van's tasted authentically Vietnamese and the serving size was great! The Banh Mi was also deliciously fresh and crispy - again authentically Viet!

Price was great and overall experience was a positive one, I'll be back soon!

Finally I've broken free of the Braddon food scene and ventured off near into Westside Acton Park. Westside Acton Park is unlike most places I've seen before. It's essentially a pop up park made from shipping containers and metal piping exoskeleton.

To be completely honest I came here with prejudgements that Canberra's Vietnamese food scene lacks authenticity and the fact it was in a shipping container really put the nail in the coffin for me. I hesitantly walked up and ordered a bowl of Rare Beef Noodle Soup.

The Pho came out in a biodegradable bowl... which I appreciated as it just sat so naturally with the theme of Westside Acton. The condiments were on the counter and it's all self serve. The Pho actually smelt alright and I was a bit taken back at how fantastic it was after my broth initiation. Any preservation of Asian Fusion were drowned in the first bite.. with the only thing fusion left was the environment. The broth was flavourful, there was a perfect balance of noodles and meat... and despite me not liking the salad (bean sprouts and mint) forced upon me, I actually didn't mind it. Nonetheless I still added my obligatory Hoisin and Siracha sauce combo which only made me happier.

I also decided to pair if with a cup of Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Personally I'm not a fan of coffee in general BUT there was just something so refreshing and relaxing about chilling out at this venue and dining on something so familiar. It's been one of my most comforting food reviews in Canberra yet.

The only gripes I have with the place is the cost. I generally am use to a sub $10 price tag for Pho. Anything priced over better be justified with larger servings or what not. The fact it was Canberra and the cost of food in general seems to have taken a leaflet from the book of Airport Food Courts, this can be slightly overlooked. There was a slight annoying surcharge of 65 cents for use of credit card.

The service here was relatively friendly and polite... and best of all there was barely a wait and my food came out piping hot.

I love the fact it's located right by the edge of the lake. You feel the breeze flowing in and the slow decent of the sun in the background as you slurp down some authentic Vietnamese food. Residing here are some basketball courts and plenty of parking.

If you're tired of Modern Australian cuisine that seems to dominate the Canberra food scene... then come here for a bit of culture... You can enjoy your dinner and then follow it up with a nice relaxing stroll by the lake. Can't wait for a revisit to get some Banh Mi in my belly.

The best pork rolls in Canberra. They're a bit on the small side, though.
