Good concept of Steak. Reasonable price for 300g meat and side dish. Order Wagyu Sirloin and Rump. The meat quite chewy even then Sirloin. Of course the type of beef is Meltique ( which is not the natural Wagyu beef) so didnt expect much of the texture. Still a place for family and hang out for steak craving.

You can't go wrong with the fruit smoothies. They are fresh and great value compared to other cafes for the same quality. Food is pretty average.

My mate just brought me here, he said he’s regular customer and they have amazing steak on the stone. They also sell vietnamese dishes btw. My hubby and him ordered the steak. And I had Vietnamese salad. It’s quite unique experience since i just been to Korean bbq that we cooked our meals by ourselves. My Vietnamese salad came in big portion, the lemongrass pork taste good and very tender. All food we had tonight not more than $20 each which is good. Thats why this place always packed.

A great place for healthy eaters to dine at in the inner west. An easy cook yourself choice of meat and your choice of mash/veg or chips/salad. Prices are decent, but expensive for the area.

Decent-tasting steak on hot stones. Fun at first but the novelty wears off after a few visits. Decent size servings for these prices. Customer service is okay but you'd be lucky to find someone here who speaks decent English. Lots of other Vietnamese food options available - same menu as Gia Hoi as they were once under the same owner. Restaurant comes off a little dirty and don't be surprised if you see a cockroach crawling around the restaurant here and there.

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience at Steak on the Rocks.

I opt for the 350g Eye Fillet. The steak is always lean and fresh. It's a unique experience to cook on a hot rock. I love it, will always go here when I have the chance.

Only fault: As someone who isn't of an Asian background, but am a local, the language barrier can be a little difficult.

I got the bahn cuon dish and my friend got the steak. They said it was nice but they would have liked more. My dish was nice. It wasn't too busy either.

A bit sticky on the sizzling plate, but overall the steaks were succulent and tender, especially the wagyu sirloin. Have tried J's steak before and it isn't even as good as these steaks. Highly recommended to all.

This is my favourite place to get steak for less than $15. I hate how most restaurants tend to overcook the steak whenever i ask for medium rare so the idea of cooking steak yourself is perfect to avoid rubbery meat. And for the price, the quality is pretty good. However after numerous times eating here, i believe there is a technique to cooking/eating your steaks!
Even though the plate is very hot, the piece of steak is very thick, making it quite difficult for the heat to penetrate through if you want medium rare or something more cooked. So what i usually do immediately when my steak comes out is to cut it up into three strips with your first strip being the thinnest and the last being the thickest (if you'd like your steak more cooked then divide the steak into more strips) then flip/rotate the strips until they are evenly browned (roughly 20-30 seconds on each side). Start eating and by the time you get to your last strip (the thickest one) it should not be overcooked. It takes a number of trials to get it perfect but it could be a great conversation starter!
The mash potato is mediocre. Not very flavourful and slightly boring. The chips are great; crunchy and seasoned.
Overall, if you're not up for paying around $30 for steak at modern restaurants nor eating overcooked steaks and don't mind cooking your own food, then this place is for you.

My go to place for steak. I love the concept that it's on a sizzling hot plate so you can cook it however you want (since I love my steak closer to the rare). They recently have added new products to their menu such as Asian foods and hot pot. The Asian food such as pho is quite bland and average. And I also tried their oxtail and goat hotpot, nothing spectacular about it. But I definitely recommend their steaks (wagyu!!) and salmon ☺️

First time dine in. Went ahead for a medium rare steak with mushroom sauce, chip and salad. For a safe side to ask for the Chef to cook it. The rump is well size for 350 gram but taste and cook well as expected and value for money for the size.
Feeling full and satisfied and will be back for more and next time will try the meat on the rock 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
For those who want to try go for it as not bad for a casual dinner

Nice steak, great meal size and price.. Had the ribeye on the stone which was fantastic - meat was nice, tender and lean, much nicer than the standard t-bone offered. The steak comes with a serve of chips and a huge plate of salad on the size, as well as your choice of sauce/gravy.

As other reviews have said it can be hard not to overcook the steak as you don't have an extra plate to put it on once it's cooked (whatever level that is to you, rare, medium etc), but it's simple enough to ask for a plate if you're worried. The stone does cool down over time but there is probably enough heat to get the steak to well done if that's what you like.

The drinks are nice and the staff were attentive and always replace the water without being asked.

It's a nice place, we went to try out cause we got voucher in mail. Service was great and pleasant, even asked if we wanted high chair and got it for us. The food was nice and juicy as we had the rump steak. We would def go back.

Awesome meal for the price paid! Best steak in the area. I ordered steak wit chips. The steak was well cooked (perfectly medium rare) and tender, and their chips were cooked and sprinkled with some special garlic salt that goes off.

You even have the option of either the chefs cooking it for you, or cooking it on a stone. Can't go wrong when you do it yourself ;). The only thing I could fault about this place was the mash potato, which was pretty bland and not creamy at all. I offered feedback to that effect so hopefully the next time I visit it will be better, and the same standards are maintained.

This place beats a few other local steak places, ie Outback Jacks, Js Kitchen, Cooks Hill, Canley Heights Bistro..

Will be coming back with the family!
