Convenient location near Caulfield Station. Service is quick and food is decent.
Closed for holidays until 1/1/2019 ......... Didn’t actually eat here, but I need to use 140 characters until the review is long enough to post.
Restore Cafe Bar is a cute little hidden secret on Derby Road on Caulfield. The decor is clean, crisp and rather trendy. The staff are very friendly and the food / drinks were good. Prices are on par with the neighbouring areas. Would definitely go again.
great aussie and japanese food, all day from very early eggs anyway, big brekky, omlettes, soups, smoothies made from fresh fruit in front of you, avo and fetta on toast, add what ever you want, lots of sandwiches and foccacias ready or made on the spot PLUS the best japanese for a good price in melbourne. friendly staff and the only decent coffee in the area. Does get packed out at lunchtime during Monash Uni term time, so go before 12pm or after 130pm and youll be able to sit down.
With this restaurant you know you are in for a reliable, consistent, yummy meal that will come out quickly from the kitchen.
Formerly Uzu cafe near the Caulfield Station. Now is tucked down the street near an alleyway and has greatly expanded in size. It is a more cafe like environment now and there is more space to sit comfortably and enjoy your meal. The atmosphere feels less hurried because you are no longer looking at the hustle bustle of the train station and the students and charity muggers who walked along that stretch. You can take your time with the meal now.
Service always good. Had the beef don today w a green tea, love it. Can rate the octopus balls, chicken katsu curry, and wide selection of sushi highly from my previous visits here. It's such a nice place to chill so will keep coming back
When Uzu closed down, I was devastated. It was my go to sushi place in the Caulfield area around the Monash University. But they didn’t completely close down. If anything Uzu has moved and joined up with Restore Cafe Bar to bring you both a Japanese dining experience at a cafe (along with the standard cafe meal options). And that’s why, they now have a Japanese menu. The sushi selection is not the same, but at least their ordering menu options have increased.

It's been awhile since I've visited Caulfield, so it was unexpected to find this place with a Japanese menu. But that's okay, we enjoyed the food with friendly service.
All I can really say about the area is that there's little variety/choice unless it's Asian or junkfood. And with Gloria Jeans no longer there, I only hope it's not going to be another Asian eatery.
If you frequent the restaurants near Caulfield University often, you’ll know of Uzu Japanese on the corner of Sir John Monash Drive and Derby Road. After a round of futsal, we decided to drop in for lunch but were greeted by a large closed sign. Luckily, they had only moved down the street to the Restore Cafe Bar.
We were a bit skeptical about the change because from experience, takeovers could go either way. I believe Restore was taken over by the owners of Uzu, so it was good enough of a reason to try it out.
The cafe has a more modern feel to it and honestly, not somewhere I’d expect to see a japanese menu! In saying that, the menu was very similar to what they used to have in Uzu, with only slight differences.

I just had coffee and breakfast here on a Sunday morning. The combination of a cafe and a Japanese restaurant is a bit weird but doesn't affect the good atmosphere. The food was good as well as the coffee. Friendly staff and laid back/relaxed atmosphere. Only 4.5 stars since the tab water cups are takeaway coffee cups which is just avoidable waste. Overall still a good place!
This cafe has been taken over by my favorite Japanese sushi restaurant . You can still get the cafe stuff but with the extra Japanese menu which is good. Shusi are always good. I like the rice which just adds the element required. Had a bento box too which was pretty decent one. Gonna try some breaky in next time visit .
The owner is a Taiwanese couple and they have been running this place for many years. Now they are turning it into a Taiwanese restaurant called "18 Railway Bento" super authentic and tasty Taiwanese food, highly recommended !!!
Food is relatively cheap but you pay for what you get. The coffees are rather decent. Staff have been friendly.
Probably the best Taiwanese bento box in Melbourne
I didn’t know there’s Taiwanese meal hidden at a local cafe bar before my friend recommended! As a Taiwanese, I can say this popcorn chicken bento is definitely authentic flavour! It made me miss the Railway Bento in Taiwan so much! I ordered takeaways for a few times! The quantity is too big for me to finish as lunch, I usually keep another half for dinner! The price is economical!
