Finally got to try the ramen here after hearing so many good reviews about this place and it definitely didn’t disappoint! The tonkotsu broth was so balanced and flavourful, perfect for a rainy day like today. My friend and I both enjoyed our ramen bowls and are excited to come back for more when we have the chance!
Love this place! My go-to on my lunch break (especially on a cold day). My favourite is the Toru Shoyu ramen, clear, nice broth. Pork bun is also a must try.

👏I have been here countless times in small and large groups. I usually get the same thing (karaka-men) but I do have a photo of when I tried one of the specials. The Ramen is consistently good and so I go here when I don't want to pick something else. The sides are usually pretty good, I recommend the pork buns
This are some of the dishes you can only found in Ippudo, Chatswood and some other small store. Recommend all the dishes!
1. Wagyu tataki : tender and tasty!
2. Pork fillet katsu sandwich: the pork fillet is really thick and crispy. The bread itself thin kind of toasted
3. Teriyaki teppan and gyu kalbi teppan: kind of stir fried. one of had to order dish~ so rich in flavour and tasty
4. Chicken nanban: must to order dish! The sauce on the side is made of egg and other ingredients~ goes really well will the fried chicken🤤
5. Matcha pannacota: not too bitter and not too sweet like perfect and the fruits bring the sweet to the overall dish. The pannacota itself really smooth and creamy and thick
Great staff, great service, great food. We came for their anniversary celebrations which meant $10 specialty ramen! Woohoo! Loved both ramens, broths were very rich but distinct in flavour and they nailed the desired texture of our noodles. Outside of the deal, $16 for a bowl of ramen is a bit pricey for students but we will be back when we crave for some high-quality ramen :)
The wait for a table was a little long (around 15 mins) but thats perfectly fine as its in the heart of the train station and the tasty ramen makes up for it! I got the shiromaru moataji (number 2 on the menu) and was really worth the hype!
Manpuku is our usual go-to place for ramen in Chatswood but we were at Chatswood interchange, the kids were hungry so we gave Ippudo a go.
It's Sunday 11.20am and the crowds are already forming, anxious for their weekend ramen fix. As the clock ticks over to 11.30, the hungry hordes are allowed entry and we are seated by the waitstaff, quickly filling up the small restaurant. The kids shared a karaka-men ramen with an extra serve of kaedama which was hastily consumed. For something sweet we had the matcha ice cream which had a pleasant creamy matcha flavour that wasn't overly sweet or bitter.
Ippudo is priced at a premium and there are better value ramen options if you're feeding a family.
Ordered the same noodle as other ippudos that I’ve been to. Not much different. On a very hot day, the aircon at the food court is just not enough. Service is below slow. The gyoza was tiny and for 10 dollars was definitely not worth it.
I saw the high rating and reviews for Ippudo Westfield Sydney so I assume that the Chatswood branch would be just as good. I ordered the Akamaru which was alright but it didn't wow me. I think there's just too many ramen places these days and most of them do a decent soup base.
Needed to go for a quick lunch at Chatswood interchange and decided on Ippudo. I had the spicy ramen and it tasted better than the other outlets I'd been in Sydney surprisingly. A good meal!
I came here by myself on a Sunday lunch time and was seated straight away. The service was friendly and they quickly took my order. The food was a bit slow to come out but when it did it was really delicious.
I had the veggie ramen, edamame and fried prawn Bao bun which were all really delicious.
Came here for the limited anniversary ramen for $10. Its essentially a tonkotsu (pork) broth ramen with a piece of chashu. Opted for medium cooked noodles and it was cooked perfectly. The broth was flavoursome. Nothing to fault. Rating is based on their pricing for special but this place can be a bit on the expensive side.
Somehow I have managed to not been to this outlet of Ippudo, perhaps because there are so many other ramen choices in Chatswood. The menu at this branch is similar to the Macquarie one, but happy to say there service is so much better. They didn't keep you waiting & are friendly. The ramen, was good. I had the Akamaru Shinaji. Good flavour in the broth without being too salty, and not oily. The noodle was soft (which I asked for) and smooth. On the pricy side at $16 without added extras, but a good treat occasionally.
Japanese food is usually our go-to when it comes to eating out. Luckily, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to Japanese food on the Lower North Shore. With this in mind, we set out to try another international chain from Japan called Ippudo. Though the shop in Chatswood Interchange is small, it’s clear this is a popular spot as a line was already forming!
Ippudo is absolutely killing it! I always love coming here. I usually get the shiromaru motoaji with the addition of nitamago (flavoured egg). Beautiful tonkotsu broth, definitely one of my favourites. It's also a lot quieter (read: quicker!) than other Ippudos in Sydney which is always a plus for me!
Ramen lovers rejoice! Ippudo's entry into Chatswood spurred on a bit of a ramen uprising, to the benefit of all.
Happy to say that this branch is a good representation of the Ippudo brand. The positives for me are the original tonkotsu borth, with very firm noodles. However, hopefully we can see some innovation from Ippudo too - the competition on Chatswood is fierce...
Ramen is good with gyoza. Shorter queue than ippudo Westfield Sydney. Good service. Having been to ippudo in Japan it does serve a different ambiance than that in Japan. Otherwise, I'm glad it is here in sydney.

Dear Ippudo, it has been a while, but I’m back. I’ve missed you, so rather than getting straight into the ramen, we started with a plate of the sesame cucumber, which was sliced and dusted with sesame, chilli and a delicious oil that probably isn’t good for you but which was incredibly tasty. I mean, how do you make cucumber taste that good? I’ll definitely come back for that one. I decided to try your Akamaru Shinaji ($16) ramen – your original tonkotsu broth was beautifully rich and fatty, with that tongue-coating thickness from the garlic oil and miso paste. The thin slices of pork belly were tender, and each
It's always a pleasure to come to ippudo chatswood. With never let down monthly special comes with thick noodle in winter time. Can't get any better. Not a big fan with ther straight noodle, i prefer egg wavy noodle in my ramen. Troubled With portion size? You can do kaedama.
We tried the shiromaru motoaji, bonito tonkotsu, and akamaru shinaji, they were all delicious, especially the akamaru. I love thin noodles and these were cooked perfectly, not too soggy. Gyozas were just average, if not a bit dry. The chashu melted in my mouth and the broth was not too sickening afterwards. However the prices are a little steeper and they are not very generous with the toppings.
I tried ippudo in a few locations, KL, Japan and here, chatswood. It serves decent ramen, so no hesitate to eat here. If you like Osan ramen(Chinatown), you will like ippudo too.
I had shiro ($15) with an extra egg($2). I liked the soup and noodle, but not much charshu(pork) and egg. If they serve plain noodle(just soup and noodle) at $11-12, I will be happy.
At the time of writing this review (May 2016) Ippudo Chatswood had a 3 average rating. My score is directed at all of you occasional ramen or Japanese food eaters! I'm giving Ippudo a 4 because this place will give you a good feed; Japanese ramen, especially the tonkotsu (pork bone) broth is heavier, saltier and much more "full bodied" than other soups like your regular chicken soup or pho (in my opinion at least!). Ippudo is a good place to have a taste of this rich broth, especially in Chatswood. If you're new to ramen, I recommend you have a taste of the plain tonkotsu ramen, the first ramen in the menu list! If you don't think you can take the richness, ask the staff to recommend a different ramen!
My score for this place, as a ramen aficionado is 3.5. I still prefer the curly egg noodles you can get at other places, but the broth is good and always gives you that fatty sensation after every sip, which is always awesome!
I actually enjoy the ramen here especially since yoi can choose to get really firm noodles (the quick boil type). The soup could be a bit better though and not as full of flavour as other places like gumshara
Gyoza is also pretty nice but the portions (both ramen and gyoza) is pretty small so youll still be hungry afterwards
With makanai dropping the ball at hawkers lane though ippudo is one of the better ramen pkaces in chatswood
The ramen have got nice soup base, and the cha-shu rice is very saucy and nice. Atmosphere is good, bright and clean.
Transport: Train to Chatswood station
We came here for our third year anniversary since we were craving some decent ramen in Chatswood. We ordered gyoza and the Karaka men and the Bonito Modern ramen, and both were really tasty and a good size. The gyoza unfortunately were rather tiny, I expected bigger pieces.
Left feeling very full however which is always nice (I do drink the soup completely though, which I know not everyone does).
The staff were friendly and the food came out really fast after we ordered. The prices are average, not too expensive. Pretty good place, will visit again I think :)

Not much of a crowd here so you can always find a seat!
My all time fav is the Akamaru Shinaji $16 together with the miso gyoza $8.
Servings are pretty generous for the ramen and to be honest i can never finish the broth! (i know poor form)
Great for a quick ramen fix if you are in the area shopping etc.
Not my top pick for ramen in Chatswood but still really good. Love how they ask for the hardness of the noodles as I like my noodles quite firm. The shiromaru motoaji was great - very tasty but I could gobble it up in seconds if I had to. The portion sizes were too small in my opinion, hardly one serving, especially for the price of $15. The quality is there but it wasn't worth it for the quantity. Same goes for the pork bun. It was delicious but I would expect that from a tiny bun which was $4. Food was tasty but not the best value for money.
Ippudo is a good addition to The District at Chatswood. This my third visit and the service remains friendly and efficient. Employing the right staff goes a long way and Ippudo stands out in this area to its competition. I opted for the monthly special which was a blend of the Shiromaru Motoaji and a rich Wakame stock. The noodle came with char sui, a soft boiled egg, pickled radish and black fungus. If was finished off with spring onions, bean spouts and fried garlic. The soup had all the hallmarks of a rich tonkotsu broth with collagen and pork fat goodness. What I like about Ippudo is that the ask you how firm you want the ramen to appease all tastes. Like other ramen places, Ippudo also offers many extras if you wanted to top up your ramen.
The Spicy Gyoza was an interesting twist on a classic and it came in a spicy broth that complemented the filling of the gyoza very well.
The Pork Buns came with a piece of traditional slow cooked pork belly (normally with preserved cabbage) that melted in your mouth. It was kept simple with two sauces that was all it needed. Great dish!
I haven't tried the Sydney institution that everybody keeps talking about so can't draw any comparisons to Gumshara. However, it stands out on its own merits for solid rich stock, perfectly cooked ramen and service with a smile.

Friends asked me to try this place in Chatswood and vowed these guys have one of the best ramen around. Tried their bao and ramen and thought they were alright; not the best in my opinion but still good standard. Ramen was cooked nice, broth was good and toppings were at standard quality. I know there are better ramen places around the area but depending on value vs quality, these guys do a decent job. Their bao was a bit bland though as they definitely have room for improvement. Overall nice, but not excellent.
Great service and fantastic to know I can dine during lunch and hear the enya soundtrack :) the menu is more of an express version than the city with three ramen types and additional noodles for an extra dollar. I thought the flavours were great but believe adding the shoyu ramen (based on soy sauce) would be great as this is the highlight of the city menu.
Service was great - would come again

I had been patiently waiting for Ippudo to open shop at The District Dining at Chatswood Interchange, and I was finally able to visit earlier this week. The interior and decor is very much consistent with the various outlets, being crisp, clean and orderly. As always, the service is extremely efficient and friendly - you can learn a thing or two about how to efficiently run a restaurant and service customers from these Ippudo outlets.
We came here on a quieter night so there wasn’t much of a queue, but we managed to grab the last free seats close to the kitchen. The menu is shortened and doesn’t offer the full list of items that you see at the Sydney city locations. However, their popular ramen dishes and buns are on offer, as well as some rice, gyoza and teppan dishes.
I felt their Shiromaru ramen and buns were not quite up to scratch on quality in comparison to the CBD stores (which is a 5/5, so the bar is set high). The flavours were great, but the pork loin slices in the ramen, and yakiniku and pork meat in the buns were not as tender to what I’ve previously had. Still a great place to have refined dishes and good quality ingredients.
Must have // ramens, buns
Pros // friendly efficient service, refined dishes
Cons // limited menu
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 4/5
I came here on s Sunday afternoon, so it was less crowded than what I had usually seen in passing. The service was quick, efficient and spot on, offering to place my bag in containers and filling the water as soon as it has been drunk. The soup and noodles were tasty, but no different to the Westfield one in cbd. I found the chashu quite firm with a solid flavor compared to other ramen eateries where they are more soft and melt in your mouth. Overall, pretty good though a little pricy for ramen.
Ippudo is known for its thick and rich ramen, so I was excited to find out it was opening in Chatswood. The broth was just as good as I had expected with a porky taste. The pork itself was nice and soft, but not salty enough for my liking. If you go at lunch they do cheap gyoza which were surprisingly my favourite part of the whole meal, but then again I do love my gyoza.
The Sydney branch has been a runaway success. Now the group is spreading north. Noodlies, Sydney food blog takes a first look at Ippudo, Chatswood. From the first restaurant in the Daimyo District of Chuo Ward in Fukuoka City, Ippudo has spread across Japan. It’s now in 10 countries, with the first overseas branch in New York City’s East Village, other overseas locations include, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, China, the Philippines and Sydney, Australia (2013).
ippudo has arrived in the new dining precinct on top of chatswood station. it brings classic rich ippudo broths with a choice of ramen noodle firmness, along with favourites like gyoza, teppan dishes and a few salads. service is still finding its feet but this is a welcome addition to the chatswood dining scene
Wow.
Absolutely mouth watering experience.
First served with Karaage which was the most delicious Karaage I’ve ever had in my life.
And of course my ramen was extremely tasty. The original tonkotsu broth ramen!
Prawn bao was also very yummy!
Overall, this restaurant made my day so happy. I would definitely re visit this store to refill my happiness 😆
Thanks you.
Been a while since i've eaten here, but last time I did it was just as good as I remembered. Highly recommend their Shiromaru Motoaji (creamy broth ramen with pork loins). There was generous amount of meat and it was tender. The broth was creamy and not too salty. You can tell the noodles are hand-made, they were chewy, thin and well-cooked. The atmosphere is clean and very close to Chatswood station (5 mins away). Would come back :)
A hot bowl of ramen at Ippudo can never go wrong. Always so incredible and with extra noodles being only $1, it’s the best dollar you can spend in Sydney.
Its cool that for takeaway you have the option to have your noodles separate from the broth to keep them from getting soggy before you get home. It'd be a shame if they did, since the ramen is good.
