This is the first time I've had non-all you can eat hot pot. I'm usually quite 'cheap' and don't think it's worth it, but with a little money to spare, we decided to try this place out.
Being a Chongqing numb and spicy hotpot joint, they have very different things on the menu - black beef tripe, giblets, duck blood jelly, beef aorta etc. However a lot of items were also crossed off, which is a little disappointing.

The mala pots are spicy and oily, very authentic. The sauce is no longer self-served, which is cleaner under COVID regulations.
We ordered way too much, but got to try different things on the menu. Each portion is much bigger than we’ve anticipated. The giblets and the black beef tripe is very delicious and tender. Beef and lamb slices were fresh and not overly greasy. The tofu combination was interesting. There are still so many things I'd like to try and I won't mind coming back. We were able to take away the leftovers.

We did end up with a big bill but we also ordered a equivalent of 4-5 peope's worth of food :p The place is nice and clean. It would be better if we came with more people.

Memory Tongue hotpot is located in Chatswood Interchange that serves Chongqing Hotpot. Chongqing cuisine is known for their spicy and numbing flavours (mala). We love going to hotpot during the winter as it warms up our body, improves circulation and sends us to a food coma afterwards :P. There are plenty of meats, seafood, cold dishes, fresh vegetables and various fungus to choose from. Rolled aprons can be found on each table to keep you clean and smell free throughout the whole experience.

Tried the half-half hotpot. Despite the other being too spicy for me, i still liked it. Loved the tomato tripe soup. Loved the giant glutinous ball.

If you love a good hotpot which offers a huge variety of seafood, meat and vegetables - this place is perfect for you. The menu is very extensive and you pay for what you order which is great. They make very yummy broths which cook the meat and vegetables perfectly.

The food was super delicious and perfect to have on a cold night. Can make your own sauces to however you like. And the meat barbie was definitely a highlight. Service was confusing at times but accommodating. Fave dishes would be definitely be the different meats and the dual spicy soup & tangy tomato soup - both flavorsome in their own way.

Great range of food. I do hope they wipe down the seats thought as it’s often oily from the previous customer. Descent customer service, food is quite fresh and sauce variety is good

Nothing is better than having hotpot in winter. You get to gather with your friends, order a whole bunch of meat and cook whatever you like in your pipping hot broth! This time we were at Memory Tongue for their famous Chongqing spicy hotpot.

I couldn’t decide which one I wanted the most so I got both fish & pickled vegetable and spicy butter soup base. The pickled veggie soup came with some raw fish pieces so they are cooked as you eat. Very thoughtful of the chef! Both soup bases were fragrant and flavourful without being too salty. And of course, I constantly had to go back to the pickled vegetable soup when I found the spicy one getting too strong.

Barbie wagyu beef was stunning and her beef outfit is definitely my favourite kind of dress (yes, cos it’s edible). The beef was tender and fatty. Having them thinly cut also ensured more soup clings.

As the photo suggests, the marbling in Australia M8 wagyu beef was simply amazing. Cut in thicker pieces, the texture and fattiness was even more enjoyable to meat lovers like me.

I always love beef tongue but this one could have been cut in thicker slices to maximise the chewiness and bounciness.

Spam slices were pretty standard but it’s the thought that counts. Spam in heart shape with garnish made it a whole lot fancier than usual.

Fried buns with condensed milk never goes wrong. Crunchy skin, soft and fluffy bun dipped in sweet and creamy condensed milk, what’s not to love?

Supersized fried glutinous rice ball is probably another must-order item. Crispy and slightly chewy bits of glutinous rice balls full of sesame seeds were just irresistible. Make sure you start eating when it’s fresh off the stove though.

Overall a very pleasant hotpot experience with incredibly fresh ingredients and mouthwatering broths.

Great ambiance here and it’s nice to have the choice to have individual hotpots or one big one to share. The meat and seafood was quite fresh plus the glutinous sesame ball was a highlight. They also do the meat barbie and rose soup base if you order the spicy ones!

A great hot pot experience, the meat was fresh and I usually don’t like pork in hotpot but it was so thin and tender, and the novelty of the barbie doll made it more interesting. I got the tomato and ox tail broth and spicy and they were both rich in flavour and delicious. Wide selection of food and easy ordering style, however I wish there were photos on the menu, we ordered 2 sesame balls unknowing that they were huge. Nevertheless, still delicious

Very popular hot pot place in Chatswood, popular as in long queues, but we managed to get a table just under 30mins, which mean we missed out on a free plate. We opted for in individual pots to accommodate our various level of spiciness tolerance.

We ordered a ranger of hotpot favourites & some others. We got their famous signature ball (1 per table only), which is the giant fried dough ball, bit greasy (they give you gloves), but very moorish & was the table's favourite, especially for the kids. Other items of note, was the pig's brain, very creamy, required a longer cook time, but interesting in hotpot form; their handmade noodles has a good bouncy chew, but very filling & heavy in hotpot. The mixed veggies was the only let down which was mostly lettuce, more like a salad mix then an Asian hotpot.

A plus is that they refill pots with different stock rather then with hot water so that it's always flavoursome & not just watered down.

Hot pot in general can be very expensive with the the fancy extras, like the marble wagyu that came out in a cow or barbie, but if you choose wisely, it can still be a great meal without breaking the bank. For 4 adults & 2 kids it was $170, there were more then enough food, had a whole plate of noodles untouched because we were so full.

Probably the most well worth money and delicious hot pot compared to the ones in the city. Everything we ordered was plated very nicely and the soup base was just delicious! Thinly sliced wagyu beef and lamb with very beautiful marbling. Veggies were super fresh!

Service was outstanding. When we got there, as usual packed with people and have to wait 30 minutes. However, they write down your phone number and will call once a table is available. And if not seated within 45min they will give a free dish. The staff was very attentive! Each person also got an apron so that we wouldn’t get our clothes stained.

Definitely worth to go and try! Perfect for cold weathers! Will be back.

Memory Tongue is one of my fav hotpot restaurants. I especially love how you can choose 3 different soup base in the 1 shared pot or have your individual pot and their plum juice is served from a globe! The meat & seafood are fresh, and as we waited for more than 60min we got free mussels. Yes be prepared to wait but you will be rewarded.

The tomato oxtail and spicy chicken soup bases were delicious. We didn’t even need extra dipping sauce with it. Everything was well presented, reasonably priced esp for the novelty factors eg barbie doll meat, giant gluten ball, figurine soup base.

A very authentic sichun restaurant. It has a creative dessert in shape of ball in size of a kids football, made of sticky rice with sesame, sweet and yummy. Also a drink called Global in Chinese is served in a container looks like Global. Food material is of high quality. Many options of seasoning sauce are available for hot pot. The seafood platter is good. 70$ per head roughly without alcohol. I didn't give 4 because the size of dish is quite small in general.
