Best Chinese food we have ever had! Our family has been going there for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Love the service and happy faces!!! 😊 love the new addition to the team!
We were in Golden Star 2001 for early dinner last Wednesday, Anzac Day. There were lots of customers, however, we still got our orders very much in time as more people turned up.
We have been coming to this place for a number of years simply because the service is indeed welcoming; friendly, prompt and efficient.
The staff as well as the proprietors team up to deliver fine dining in a small but cosy surrounding.
This is truly local, offering food at very reasonable price with such quality that is not easy to find anywhere else. There is no need to dress up. The atmosphere is simple but charming, even giving one a chance to engage with fellow diners.
We decided to visit Golden Star for dinner one night with a few others. As we were in a group, we decided to order a few different things to try. We tried their San Choy Bau, salt and pepper squid, fried rice, sizzling Mongolian lamb, satay chicken, and boiled rice.
All the staff members there were pretty friendly, which was a positive. The San Choy Bau was brought out first. The lettuce leaves were large and crispy, which was good. The mince was really well seasoned and full of flavour. Shortly after, the rest of the food was brought out. The satay chicken was definitely a stand out - it was really saucy, the chicken was soft and everything was cooked nicely. The salt and pepper squid was really spicy at times due to the chilli, but overall it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sizzling Mongolian lamb was also nice and soft - and the fact that it literally sizzles in front of you is a nice effect.
Overall, we were happy with not only the quality of the food, but the very affordable low prices. This is a great venue if you are dining on a budget - so check them out.
