My husband & I have dined in here a few times over the months and have always enjoyed our experience. Great value deal for under $40 you get entree, naan, rice & 2 curries and we always have leftovers to take home. We don't understand why it's always so quiet (usually 7pm on a week night) but we don't mind having the restaurant to ourselves really :) We always try something different and are always impressed & tastes more authentic than other/most Indian restaurants I've been to. Lovely staff too. Shame they don't serve alcohol but you can byo.
Ordered the following through Menulog for home delivery: honey chicken, saag paneer, veggie samosas, rice and garlic naan. Delivery was punctual and there was 10% off for first time customers and a fair $5 delivery charge from Clarkson to Carramar.
I ordered the honey chicken because I've never seen it on an Indian menu and their version said it was in a coconut cream sauce with honey, lime and soy sauce. It was nice and I liked the sultanas in it too but there were bits of rice in it which I thought was weird. Made me wonder if it was leftovers or something. Still ate it anyway but don't think I'd order it again.
Saag paneer wasn't the best version I've had. Pretty light on with the spinach but nice big generous chunks of paneer.
Veggie samosas were good and the garlic naan was the fluffiest I've ever had. It was super thick too. Reminded me of foccacia bread.
All in all, I would order from here again but I would try different dishes.
My rating of Indian Cottage is based on service, value for money, setting and overall taste of the food.
I often visit this Indian with family and friends and as of late it has become a personal favorite of mine. The staff are friendly and more than accommodating and seem genuinely interested in customer opinion of the food. For just $39 the restaurant offers a meal for 2 which includes a main course for each person (rice and choice of naan included) as well as a starter mix plate.
The food itself is very tasty, personally i am a fan of the hotter dishes and i am never disappointed by the Jalfrezi, Vindaloo or the Madras but the Butter Chicken and Korma are also great options for those who prefer a more mild option.
The setting of the restaurant is simple but cosy, its nothing to write home about but it gives you the feeling that the business is family run which is a refreshing change from some of the bigger more fancy restaurants around the metro area.
Overall the Indian Cottage is a great little Indian restaurant which offers friendly service with great food, all at a very reasonable price.
