My husband & I have dined in here a few times over the months and have always enjoyed our experience. Great value deal for under $40 you get entree, naan, rice & 2 curries and we always have leftovers to take home. We don't understand why it's always so quiet (usually 7pm on a week night) but we don't mind having the restaurant to ourselves really :) We always try something different and are always impressed & tastes more authentic than other/most Indian restaurants I've been to. Lovely staff too. Shame they don't serve alcohol but you can byo.
Ordered the following through Menulog for home delivery: honey chicken, saag paneer, veggie samosas, rice and garlic naan. Delivery was punctual and there was 10% off for first time customers and a fair $5 delivery charge from Clarkson to Carramar.
I ordered the honey chicken because I've never seen it on an Indian menu and their version said it was in a coconut cream sauce with honey, lime and soy sauce. It was nice and I liked the sultanas in it too but there were bits of rice in it which I thought was weird. Made me wonder if it was leftovers or something. Still ate it anyway but don't think I'd order it again.
Saag paneer wasn't the best version I've had. Pretty light on with the spinach but nice big generous chunks of paneer.
Veggie samosas were good and the garlic naan was the fluffiest I've ever had. It was super thick too. Reminded me of foccacia bread.
All in all, I would order from here again but I would try different dishes.
My rating of Indian Cottage is based on service, value for money, setting and overall taste of the food.
I often visit this Indian with family and friends and as of late it has become a personal favorite of mine. The staff are friendly and more than accommodating and seem genuinely interested in customer opinion of the food. For just $39 the restaurant offers a meal for 2 which includes a main course for each person (rice and choice of naan included) as well as a starter mix plate.
The food itself is very tasty, personally i am a fan of the hotter dishes and i am never disappointed by the Jalfrezi, Vindaloo or the Madras but the Butter Chicken and Korma are also great options for those who prefer a more mild option.
The setting of the restaurant is simple but cosy, its nothing to write home about but it gives you the feeling that the business is family run which is a refreshing change from some of the bigger more fancy restaurants around the metro area.
Overall the Indian Cottage is a great little Indian restaurant which offers friendly service with great food, all at a very reasonable price.
Beautiful authentic food with a great differential menu to suit all pallets.
The staff are helpful and attentive to their customers.
Clean and tidy restaurant sometimes really busy so it's recommended you reserve a table to not be disappointed.
The best Curry in Perth! The closest to a curry you can get in England. Me and my partner have tried everywhere in Perth when I say that I actually mean it and nothing compares to the India Cottage! We used to live in Clarkson but have since moved and we still drive all the way to get a curry from here almost every Friday night. I always get the Korma cos I just love it from here and you can't get a Chicken Korma like it any where else there is just so much taste to it everywhere else you go for a Korma it is just bland. My partner will eat almost any sort of curry but one day he asked the gentleman for a Chicken Korma but if they could please make it spicy (hot) for him and they did and now every time we go there he gets a Spicy Chicken Korma. Customer service is great too everyone is lovely at the India Cottage I would not recommended any other Indian in Perth the India Cottage! It is by far the best!
Best indian restaurant. By far my favourite indian restaurant. Im vegetarian and there is so much choice in dishes and the curries are always tasty and full of flavour. The naan bread is always cooked to perfection. The staff are so friendly and polite and always make the experience enjoyable! Been coming here since it opened and have never been disappointed. Definitely recommend.
I have had India Cottage 3 times now and each time has been great. My new local. The flavour and quality is always spot on, they have a bit more of a unique flavour, I find a lot of other indians all taste the same like their curries all come from the same factory. India cottage has a good uk style taste to it. I do prefer British Indian in Kingsley overall but they are very close.
Found the India Cottage through Urbanapoon and we were very impressed. Good on the phone when I rang, friendly when I picked up, and the food was delicious - you could taste individual flavours in the dishes and components retained texture. Will be coming again.
Excellent food great and friendly service, I live 20 minutes from India Cottage, but come here almost every week, by fare the best Indian food I've had ever, we'll worth the 20 min drive.
Eaten at loads of Indian restaurants in Perth but this is by far the best. Everything we've ordered has been fantastic
The place is now named Anil's Indian Kitchen.
We tried a few different dishes and it was always between very good and excellent. The portions are also very generous and we usually have enough leftovers for another meal at home: it's a great value for money.
The service is friendly.
My only complaint is that the place lacks appeal and would need renovation. But they do take-away.
Delicious! I've been waiting for a good Indian restaurant to open in the Clarkson area. I had the lamb saagwala and the chicken korma and enjoyed them both immensely. These are dishes are often get whenever I eat Indian food and India Cottage did them both extremely well. Staff are very courteous and friendly. I'll be going back time and time again!
Have had some great meals in here. Quite a few of us go to this place on a Thursday or Friday evening. You can always get a table and the staff are very friendly. They will also make up a dish for you, just ask if you want extra garlic, chilli's etc. It's a BYO which is good. They do a special set menu which is $39 for 2 includes starters, mains, rice and naan bread, really good value. Take your own Lime Pickle as it's not part of the dishes for poppadoms.
Had a really nice meal here in August. The food quality was good, as was the variety to choose from. The service was nice from the young man who waited on us. The place lacked a little atmosphere but that was partly down to it being a quiet night at the restaurant.
Not much of an Indian atmosphere. Menu extensive enough. I've had better Indian food. However: Location extremely convenient for Clarkson residents and visitors; their Paratha bread is fantastic, and ingeniously they have a selection of non-Indian dishes that are reasonably priced so your friends don't have to like Indian food. Quiet dining, a little more sophisticated. Friendly service. Good Gulab Jamun. Overall, a nice little spot, but if you absolutely want the best Indian food or Indian atmosphere you need to drive to Joondalup.
Never had a bad meal here. Great service, beautiful tasty food, lovely atmosphere. Very reasonable price too. My favourite of the indian restaurants in this area.
Anlil kitchen has really good fresh Indian food! The staff are friendly and welcoming :) the service is good, always a returning customer!
