Love this place. My favourite dumpling place in Melbourne. Bigger than usual selection of dumplings. BYO available, great place.
Really good crew at this place.
We got a bit messy and one of the kids locked themselves the toilet. Managed to break a light climbing out and the server (owner?) was making jokes about how many dishes he would have to do to make up for it, classic. We had vegetarians, vegans and pescatarians, all were satisfied. Small(er) menu, but lots to choose from.
The best part was it was all really yummy. š
Great staff and the prawn dumplings were to die for. New fave for dumplings.
The best dumplings in Melbourne for sure! The mushroom, egg and onion are a highlight and such a good alternative to the average vegetarian dumpling you would get anywhere else. The staff are so lovely also! If I could give this place six stars I would.
Really good dumpling spot!! Tacky and quirky in all the right ways but most importantly the dumplings are actually really good. Mushroom egg and chive sounds weird but tastes fab! Highly recommend.
Went to Houhai Dumpling House last night - I'm a bit of a dumpling and noodle afficionado, and have to say that it was just terrific.
We were immediately given a carafe of chilled water, which was very welcome. For two, we had two plates of dumplings (10 to a plate) with cold sides of broccoli in garlic sauce, and cucumber with dried chili, and a plate of hot roasted peanuts, all washed down with a Tsing Tao beer - I'm a big eater and that was more than filling.
The dumplings were simply excellent - fresh, generous, well textured, tasty. Big variety, too.
Not your usual Chinese, tastes and combinations have a freshness that puts this place in a different category to your local Chinese restaurant.
Service was also great - friendly & good natured (just like the food). A large dining space, so you're not cheek by jowl with other tables (and tables outdoors on Queens Pde). Decor is that comforting Chinese eclectism that makes you feel a bit like you're in someone's home, with fresh flowers on every table.
And very (very) reasonably priced. They have other main meals that are more usually priced, but if they are of the same quality as their dumplings, will have a go next time.
Very keen to go back and work through their menu ... they are doing A Very Good Thing, and I wish them well, and every success !

Great to see a new business starting in Queens Parade, love trying a new restaurant. Great quality food, got to try the dumplings, good price and decent servings as well. Kind staff to go along with a delightful meal, made for a lovely dinner. Must go!
Itās hard to miss anything about the Melbourne dining scene when youāre in the food paradise that is Malaysia, which is where I was recently, but dumplings are something that are consistently better in Melbourne than anywhere else Iāve been (granted Iāve never been to Hong Kong or China, so this is bound to change).
Got takeout delivered. Tasty and very juicy fried dumplings! Home style noodle soup. Delicious broccoli side dish! Definitely recommend this place and will order again.
This restaurant has a rather bizarre interior which is a cross between a cat ladiy's apartment meets trash and treasure market. The menu is small but still plentiful containing all the usual suspects. We had the fried pork and chive dumplings as well as the mushroom, onion and egg dumplings.
The pork were very tasty and fried I'm presuming tasted much better than steamed. The crispy dimpling was excellent Abbs extremely cheap! The mushroom dumplings were very different from the usual vege dumplings you find in China town. The onion comes through a lot though the egg flavour is masked by the mushroom and onion. Not a pitty because they were a nice change to the standard vege dumpling!
Dumplings taken to another level! Cheap but seem to be much better quality than other dumplings. Go with a bunch of friends and order a few plates to share. Lots of fun and good dumplings.
Very authentic northern China style food at really good prices.
The boss is from Beijing, and the food definitely reflects that. We only had the dumplings and a cabbage salad this time but will be back to try the other dishes.
The dumpling skins are made by hand and are exactly the way they should be, and the stuffing authentic flavours.
Have a cold Tsingtao and a couple of plates of dumplings out the front!
Great dumplings, ridiculously good value for money. Had a range of dishes including a few dumpling dishes. Walked away happy and full. I honestly wouldnāt be offended if they raised their prices a bit! Love it!
Good hidden place. Good value. Dumings were big and filling.
Authentic and delicious. Must try if you love Chinese dumplings! I think I ate nearly 20!
Walked past this place a few times of a morning and always wondered what the food would be like. I love dumplings and I am always on the look out for a new regular dumpling service.
So, today (after a late breakfast at Mixed Business) I popped in for a plate of Pork and Chinese Chives, panfried dumplings.
I am quite fussy about my dumplings, but these weren't bad. The dumpling wrapper was a bit thick for my liking, but they were still good.
It hasn't replaced my regular, but I will keep it in mind for when the dumpling need grabs me whilst in Clifton Hill.
Delicious food with great service . I been to the place many times and every time i go there i try different dishes. All the dishes are very tasty. I Order Through Ozfoodhunter installed App I got $15 and even 10% off Also
hands down best dumplings in Melbourne, old school vibe, old mate running the show
