Hubby and I stopped here for a quick drink and something to eat on Sunday morning. We enjoyed sitting outside, overlooking the water. (Never mind the road. We didn't care at all.) My coffee was strong and hot, and hubby enjoyed his hot chocolate. My ham and cheese croissant was fine, if a wee bit squashed, and the chutney was very good - a bit spicy and quite sweet. Hubby liked his taste of it too. He really enjoyed his smoked salmon bagel. He said the salmon was great, bagel fresh and tasty, very good all up. Loved the cute crockery too. Service was friendly, and it was lovely to see the water (even with scaffolding across the road). It is a nice, friendly space at the bottom of an apartment building, and larger than it seems. They also have artwork from a local artist, and they sell various items like hot chocolate powder, marshmallows and so on. A good place to stop!
Nice cafe along the Hornibrook Esplanade and across the road from the bike and pedestrian foreshore path. Nice coffee, fast and efficient service. Option of indoor or awning covered outdoor seating. Good option for those looking for a coffee while riding the Redcliffe bike paths. First place we found after cycling over the Hornibrook Bridge.
With a name like the "Drowned Rat", it sounded like a place I would have normally avoided. But a few coffee's with business connections on Thursdays, it has been an interesting reveal of a quiet but exclusive venue for a quiet meeting.
