Review Biggie Smalls - Collingwood

The decor looks like an American diner which is nice but it's a little too dark. The kebabs are generous fulled with fresh crunchy coleslaw and the sauces were good. The meat was a bit dry and skimpy. My girls had crispy pork belly, the crispy skin came from a chip packet like you find at an Asian grocery store. The chips with gravy were very good.

Oh we have a winner here. Total game changer in the world of kebabs! We ordered the ‘Dirty South Kebab’…. Fried chicken, lettuce, pickled onion, garlic, Biggie hot sauce and lemon aioli, we did however add cheese. We both uhmmed and ahhed over the fact that the chicken could potentially be way too dry but decided to take the risk, talk about a good payoff. Like I said, total game changer. We took our first mouthful and glanced at each other with that look that says ‘Oh dear god, we just found gold’…. The chicken was succulent while being perfectly crispy and flavoursome. The lovely balance of herbs mixed in with the coating, the pickled onions and also fresh herbs created a delightful taste sensation. The aioli was sublime, with the cheese being a good addition. We then have the kebab bread…. This in itself is also a bit of a hero to be honest… It had this slight smokey flavour while being moist (honestly, I hate using that word but it is the only fitting description) while also holding its form. Most kebabs fall apart, the bread breaks or it’s too thick and doughy… This bread was out of this world. We’re looking at seriously fresh food and unique but perfectly thought out flavours here. You can tell the creator has tried every combination of ingredients before arriving at the final recipe which I can say is simple on the surface but actually a complex masterpiece. Let’s not forget the chips with smoked mustard mayo! For $5.50 we got a large serve of chips with this divine mayo that will blow your mind. The chips were cooked perfectly, fluffy and somewhat buttery, when dipped in the mayo you find yourself delaying swallowing just to savour the flavour. This type of well thought out food almost has the ability to make time stand still as you eat. This place is something special. You haven’t truly lived until you try their kebabs, it is a magical experience. Further to the above, if the creator of this recipe wasn’t the person who cooked it, you have yourself a team who are perfectly in sync from a conceptual perspective through to execution. Thank you, team! Well done. Utterly faultless in every way!

it is a pilgrimage for me to go back to my old hood and eat at shane delia's biggie smalls. such great kebabs, love them love them!

Would give 6 stars if could. Great food, great vibe. I had a gf falafel and partner had a dirty bacon with cheese which is a fried chicken kebab, both left very happy, do check this place out if you like kebabs and awesome places.

The piggy smalls was a burst of flavour that had me in tears. Great tasting food and atmosphere. I cant wait to come again. Might even order two ❤

Awesome food, smiley chef, nostalgic hip hop. What's not to like?

Just got an awesome gluten free pulled pork kebab. I wanted to tell the young guy who served us that he was really good at his job but didn't. Then as soon as we left my friend said 'that guy was really good at his job' and we all agreed. He was funny, friendly, happy and an all round legend. It makes me realize the importance of good service. And the food is delicious.

I have eaten here many times great kebabs and usually friendly service, however tonight experienced an awful staff member tonight that bowed down into my uncles face and abused him cause he winked at her whilst asking for assistance.
I did not have a pleasant dining experience tonight, very disappointed in your staff member training is required for her in customer service if you really want to keep staff like this! 😡

Located on Smith Street, Biggie Smalls take the humble kabab and gives them a modern make over with some unique flavours and their own twists.

They have a lot to choose from here with a little something for everyone. Not just offering kababs they offer burgers, fries and even something for the veggos out there.

If you find yourself on Smith Street and love a good 'kbab' as they, it's worth a stop in.

The only downside for us is that we thought they were a little over priced but other than that, we enjoyed the food here.

My lamb kebab was delicious - the sauce was amazing, I love the thicker pita bread they use, and the veggies were all fresh. My partner's dirty gravy kebab was also nice, although I personally preferred mine. The loaded chips were good, corn dogs were ok. Quick and reasonably efficient service. The price is probably the main thing keeping me from going back, as $16.50-17.50 is a tad more than what I'd normally spend on my kebabs.

The name is a big up!

I’ve always ordered kebabs from this place on Uber and never had a complaint.
Wanted to see the place since it was called Biggie Smalls and imagined old school hip-hop vibes with some bars.

The food is delicious. Tried their Dirty South and loaded fries and they blew my taste buds away.
Their bread is so fluffy and fresh you’d eat it without any stuffings.

Their staff is so humble you’d feel extremely welcomed. These couple of ladies in the even were excellent with their hospitality and that is what drove me to put down a review.

Must visit for a quick snack/dinner. I’m going to be a regular.

Good food, enjoyable enough. However at the end of the day just prefer a traditional souvlaki. Very cool layout in the store. But wouldn’t rush back again

First off, digging the name! Somehow perfect for a kebab joint. The concept’s pretty cool too, fusing middle eastern street eats with American classics. I had the dirty south with chips, and the pita bread was so fluffy and delicious, I’d honestly order it by itself. Fillings were nice, chips were a bit cold though.

Inauthentic sauce-drowned, lettuce-packed kebabs for the vegan-centric Smith street crowd. Kebab lovers looking for a meat fix should look elsewhere, but others might enjoy the toned down approach to kebabs. Staff were friendly and accommodative.

Despite of the 4.2 reviews, in my opinion and experience, the service AND the food was totally disappointing. On an empty place we (my husband and I) walked in and were greeted 5 min later, the person behind the counter saw us but was too busy preparing the take away orders/deliveries to even acknowledge us. The “kbabs” we end up getting were dry and filled with lettuce rather than the ‘chicken’ itself. All for $14.50 each! Mr Shane, I am sorry to say.. long awaited experience but way too disappointing. Now I know why it was empty...
In the office thought I’d order and try this place out. Good call. Great cheeseburger style kebab, love the crunchy flavoured chips, amazing dim sims, really hits the spot when you’re hungry. Exactly what I was expecting which was a relief considering I was hungry and didn’t want to try anything new. Definitely recommend!

Sort your staff at the Australian Open out!!!! Maybe telling customers to F@&$ off isn’t the best customer service. Absolute joke. Can’t believe it.
Im Here To Eat
This is next level kebabs..Biggie smalls are trying their best to open your eyes and show you that there is more to kebabs than that vision of sponge meat. I will always opt for a biggie smalls kebab because you get something more than just meat, salad and garlic sauce. Its funky, it's tasty and it's full of surprises.

I have been wanting to try this lance for awhile as I am a big fan of Shane Delia. It was a funky looking place with a good menu. Friendly and fast service. The food was fresh and we tried both the OG’s in chicken and beef. Chips had a nice zaatar type seasoning on it and the popping jalapeños are a must try. We tried the cheese sauce with the chips but we didn’t really enjoy the sauce - chips are better without. Worth a try for sure

Got a falafel wrap to take away and it was great. The falafel was moist and pita was super fluffy. Hummus and yoghurt sauce added flavour but unfortunately, both were settled towards the bottom of the wrap. But despite unevenly distributed condiments, I can't complain about this tasty veggie lunch.

Absolutely love the concept of combining American and Mediterranean cuisines to make a completely delicious new cuisine . the dirty juicy and the corn dogg were out of the world..

Look, you want a kebab? Loaded fries? Fried chicken? Just order it here. You’re not going to feel great tomorrow ordering junk food anyway so how about you feel good ordering top quality stuff and wake up in the morning knowing you fell to your inner demons but picked the best one. They’re doing God’s work here.

Went to the Collingwood store. Don't eat here! Rats running around the floor and into the kitchen! Contacted the store and they did not seem to care.

One of my favourite shops to go to
Love the chicken souv one with the American cheese
Amazing quality
Also service was great !! There was a young boy behind the counter and he was very friendly . Asked me if I wanted sauce etc
Keep it up
We Know This Place
Let’s start with the main act: the Juicy KBabs. Boy what a time it is to be alive! Two of mankind’s greatest culinary inventions, burgers and kebabs, combined as one truly special hybrid. Three small, yet juicy patties, fresh lettuce and onion, creamy American cheese dressed in a (very) special sauce, makes for a heck of a flavour combination, when compared to what I have come to expect from traditional kebabs. The special sauce alone is an absolute bombshell on the taste buds, the good type of bombshell that leaves you blown away. To best describe the flavour, I would say experiencing eating the special sauce at Biggie Smalls for the first time is like what I remember Big Mac sauce tasting like when I was a kid.

Sadly this mix between meat patties and wraps is awfully bland and tasteless. Lazy staff mixing the cold stale fries with new fresh fries hoping it would be unnoticed. Would not recommend it to anyone

I like this place quite a bit, I decided to give the falafel kebab ago after trying out a vegetarian diet. I wanted to like to but honestly it was kind of awful.

The wrap was more like a large, impossible to eat taco, half of which was just iceberg lettuce which just made me despair (there is such a thing as too much iceberg lettuce, folks). The falafel was fine, it wasn't at all cut up or anything so honestly it was really difficult to eat with the rest of the wrap. The cucumber was basically just a 1/4 of a whole cucumber placed length ways in the wrap.

I dunno, just kind of bafflingly bad.

Chips were good tho, and the other wraps are good., so you get 3 stars from that, but that falafel wrap just made me depressed.

I've always wanted to like kebabs and souvlakis. But I've found the most well known places in Melbourne (i.e. stalactites) to disappoint over and over again. This evening, I came across the Biggie Smalls Food Truck. I opted for the beef burger kebab and man was it delicious. So, I eat burgers once in a blue moon. And when I do get a kebab or a burger or a souvlaki, I have to douse it in sauce, salt and pepper. But this beef burger kebab was surreal. It came with 2-3 beef mince patties (cooked the way I like it), melted but slightly solid yummy cheddar cheese, their special sauce (which was so so good), parsley, lettuce and the winner is the bread. Chunky, thick kebab bread - maybe a bit like afghani bread but better. So, so good. And so satisfying. I'm sold. If I've gonna get a kebab, it's gonna be a biggie small.

These kebabs are the kinds we ll keep visiting this place foe!the falafel and chicken kebabs were absolutely on point with perfect seasoning. the chips were hot crisp and well seasoned. the decor is cool, drizzy was on, that just made my dindin.

I had the American beef kebab from this hip hop themed kebab shop.

Parking the celebrity chef thing aside, this is a modern take on the greasy (but addictive) kebabs/souvlaki/gyro depending on where you're from.

The pita bread was the star, warm soft lightly oiled. You know you're eating a premium product. If a cheeseburger and a kebab had a love child this would be it. It was tasty but I wouldn't necessarily have it again but I'd try other kebabs they have on offer.

Being an rnb/hip hop music aficionado, the background music is great. I could just sit there and listen to the I mix all day.

If you feel like a kebab and your sober, go here. It's fun and they offer a good product. TME x

Came here for a quick lunch on a Thursday and one of their crispy pork belly kbabs. The pork crackling was crispy and absolutely more-ish. I also liked the addition of the candied peanuts which gave it a nice textural element. The portion was also sizable and was good value for money. I must say that Biggie Small's kbabs are one of those things that you have on a "cheat" day.

The food was on point! Seriously delicious. I had the lamb kebab and it had a nice level of spice to it. The only downside is the cost. Pretty expensive but I would return

So, we order two kebabs though Uber Eats. We specifically select the box that says no hot sauce and then we retype the words no-hot sauce or chilli in the special instructions. Then the meal arrived and it’s covered in hot-sauce and chilli jam. We ring the restaurant , and the woman is all apologetic, and says the best way to get another one is to reorder and pay through Uber Eats, and then ask for a refund. So we do this, and Uber Eats is now refusing to refund the second order. w.T.H???
Don'tMessWithMyFood
Ordered via Uber Eats once for dinner, and another time for lunch at work. Both orders were for 6-ish people, so amongst us we had the Grilled Pork, Roast Lamb, Fried Chicken and Falafel. Good feedback from all
Portion size was huge! One of this and it's all you'll need for hours.
It's a kebab, with a twist. Just remember it's not meant to be 'diet-food'.

Sides: chips were great, return of the mac and cheese was amazing (but a tad pricey with 3 pieces for $7.50)

Definitely a go to for further Uber Eats days.

Possibly THE single worst meal I’ve had. In fact... that I haven’t had. I refused to eat it.

I had the pork Kebab and my husband the lamb one.

I took one bite of the pork and retched from the mouthful of fat that was in my mouth. So I had to swap with my husband. I tried to eat the lamb kebab. Not sure that there was any lamb in it. Totally full of fat.i honestly removed every piece of meat from the kebab and peeled off the small amount of meat attached to the thick fat. It smelled like old lamb and I literally spat my first mouthful of the lamb kebab out too. The chips had less fat in them than the meat. My husband couldn’t eat the pork kebab and was also turned off by the lamb.

We elected to not buy drinks and poured some water into the cups which were greasy and left an oil slick on the top of the water as we poured. So we bought bottles of water. The restaurant was under-ventilated and so we came out smelling of oil too! We did enjoy the corn salad. That fabulous experience cost us $60!! They are lucky we had already paid. I would have found it very difficult to pay for a meal that was inedible. Horrid. Never ever again.

Ordered a Beef Rendang and West Coast kebabs with a side of fries. Both were flavourful and very filling. Fries were good but didn't need to have them as the mains filled us up. Bit steep for a kebab but was very yummy! Would come back again if I was up for a fancy kebab.
The Gastronaut
I ordered the chicken kbab, corn dogs and fries with sriracha mayo to be delivered. I must say all of them were great! The corn dogs, especially, had a distinct turkish sausage flavor and it blended very well with the batter. The kbab was filling and had gpod portion of chicken. The fries came with a unique mix of spices and complimented well with the mayo. Will definitely go back to try the rest of the items. Totally recommend.

Surprisingly good.
Had the West coast wrap. Lamb was nice and the special sauce well balanced.
Worth trying if in the area and wanting something new.

Ordered a meal from here through Uber Eats, so can't say much about service and ambiance. However we did call them prior to check if they're Halal (which they are) and the guy I spoke to was nice.

We ordered the Beef Burger Kbab & Chips. I loved both, the kbab was full of flavour. It was a nice twist eating the contents of a burger in a kebab. It was a big soggy but that's probably due to the time it took to get to us. The chips were also flavoured well.

I would definitely eat here again and try some of their other options.

It is huge and filling! Around 20cm long kebab~ order the C.Wallace with Return of the Mac n Cheese!
I feel like the C.Wallace kebab was alright~ first time having smoked hummus and garlic yogurt, havent get used to the combination. prolly i recommend the meat kebab.

And i like the return of the mac n cheese! Really nice and crunchy 👌🏻

My partner and I got a Uber Eats delivery last night for Biggie Smalls for the first time. We tried the mac n cheese balls which came with slices of chicken. They were delicious 😋

We ordered 3 kebabs including a Piggy Smalls pork belly, a West Coast roast lamb and a Dirty South Chicken. Wow!!

The food was really good. Not cheap but worth the extra. This place is definitely worth a visit.

The first time I came here I had the lamb kebab which was delicious and very filling. Second time was disappointing.. I tried the fried chicken kebab which was overcooked and very dry. Milkshakes were good on both occasions.

Best kbab ever. Had bought a scoopon voucher. Well worth it. Beef kbab hot,soo tasty, perfect. Whole experience elevated to new level when watching Shane clear tables!
Hungry Habit
Got the falafel and the Juicy kebab, which were definitely tasty and saucy. And with all those herbs and spices on the chips, it was a new exciting twist.
The only thing that let me down was the price. I just reckon you can get the same level of tasty from your traditional kebab shop for much less money to cough up, which in turn leaves you feeling much more satisfied. So unfortunately I won't be returning, but at least I can say I've been.

What do you get if you cross a Big Mac with a kebab? The Juicy KBab! It's a must try. The chicken was also fantastic. It's the kind of food you try then spend a few weeks thinking about it. I hope it's just as good the next time I go!
George David Michaelides
Zatar chips are gooooood if they fresh though of the 6 times I've been here 4 times they have been on point. My favourite kebab is the juicy which reminds me of a Big Mac in Shane delia kebab form!! A must try. Steer clear of the corn dogs however they don't belong here on this menu
Nman
If you are a Kebab or R&B and Hip Hop fan this it the place to visit. As we were walking in they were playing a classic Biggie and Jay Z track "I love the dough" which set the scene. A quick look at the menu and I ordered a gin and juice and settled back in my booth and took a look at the menu. We then ordered some kebabs & chips and were very happy with the nice and fresh flavors and the serving sizes were huge! A pleasant surprise was the dessert which was unexpected and a must try! Great concept and well done to the team running the place!
Hello. Imnikki
Biggie Smalls had been on my radar for quite some time but it had to take a Scoopon voucher to get me to drag my lazy bum over. We arrived on a Friday night, just before the dinner rush and felt quite lonely in the restaurant. Customers slowly trickled in but even up to the end of our meal, this place remains less than half full. It's somewhat perplexing as from what we tried that night, the food is jolly good.

With our Scoopon voucher, we had the choice of either the beef, chicken or vegetarian option when choosing our kebabs. It goes without saying that we were going to opt for the beef "kbab" (as Biggie Smalls call them). With a name like "Juicy", and it being described as a cheeseburger in a kbab, how could we resist? Yes, some may scream blasphemy, but this extremely bastardised and non-traditional version was glorious. Thick, moist and tender cuts of beef, drenched in mustard mayo which to me, resembled a Big Mac sauce, and topped with melty cheese, aromatic onions and crispy lettuce, and finally all wrapped up in soft and pillowy pita. I don't know about everyone else but when given something so delicious, I can overlook the issue with authenticity and merely judge it for its taste and flavour.

As we came with the intention of testing the waters, and noticing that the full price of one kbab is quite dear, we only ordered one kbab using the voucher. That gave us the flexibility to load up with loaded chips, milkshake and ice cream sandwich. The loaded chips with bacon, cheese and spring onions was excellent. Hot and crunchy chips, juicy bite-sized bacons and more than generous toppings that has us having bacons leftover after we finished the chips. Can you believe that? There was actually too much bacon. I never thought that I would ever uttered this phrase.

While the food wowed us, the coffee milkshake was not good at all. It was too milky and bland, and about a quarter of it was topped up with whipped cream. The peanut butter ice cream sandwich, however, was delightful. The peanut butter flavour was strong in this one, and the cookie was thick and crispy. The lovely waitress who made sure we were only served the dessert after we finished our meal, so that it doesn't melt, was a total sweetheart.

While it may seem that it's all marvellous, I have to be picky and complain about the atrocious ventilation in the place. It not only smelt of food, it was straight up smoky inside. All the pictures I took had white dreamy undertones, which kinda looked like we were smoking up a storm in the background, which I'm sure would be illegal. Please fix this up so that on my return, I can sit inside where it's warmer, pretty please!

My fiancée and I used to love this place, but sadly it's gone downhill. We were disappointed with the change of the fries, which now taste like they've come from the supermarket, the meat has changed and quality of the taste of it has gone from sensational to subpar. Also did not appreciate being told I couldn't get double meat because 'it's portioned out a certain way'. Sadly we will not be back. Very disappointed :(

I've been wanting to try this place out for a while but it wasn't on the top of my list until I came across the best rated chips in Melbourne and guess who was on it? Yup, biggie smalls. I'm not sure why but I LOVE crinkled chips so that was already a winner for me. My bf and I both shared the lamb and chicken kbab. I enjoyed the lamb one better but they were just a tad stingy on the meat. The chicken was good but I found it was a little on the dry side. The food is quite expensive. Overall, really enjoyed our food here. Would definitely come back to try the other kbabs!
MF
Love the flavour of the beef and chicken kebab that we ordered but wasnt happy with the service that was given, it was very slow to wait half hour for 2 kebab, as its supposed to be quick. The beef rendang was nicely marinated and the chicken stripes was in good size and taste. The wrap that they used are different and i really like it but too bad it couldnt cover the whole thing and the filling dropped on the bottom. Overall okay, will try their other options.
Suf
The Good: Let's start with the service, the guy was great, he checked my allergy, talked us through what we could eat and was super relaxed about it all. He gave the table a wipe before we sat down (the little things matter). I had the lamb Kbab which was really tasty, juicy and tender. My friend had the falafel wrap which was the 'best falafel wrap' she's had in Melbourne. The falafel was nice and crispy and had a good amount of sauce. The venue is also super relaxed and there's good music playing. It doesn't feel super annoyingly cool. The value for money ($24 for two) was excellent. This is the perfect, yes perfect quick cheap eat. Will become a common place for us.

The Bad: We honestly can't think of anything.

Biggie Smalls attracts the eye instantly with their diner inspired decor. Decided to try their falafel kebab, was a tad sceptical towards it as most I've had tends to be quite dry. However, it was the opposite, fresh veggies complimented it nicely and pita made to perfection. It's also a good portion size for those on the go if they can't eat in.
Meatlover
This place defiantly puts a spin on the old kebab and they taste damn good as well. Looks are deceiving they're pretty filling as well. Recommendation ditch the chips and go for Mac n cheese fritters also the Turkish delight ice-cream sandwich is a nice finish.
Wammo
Ordered Biggie Smalls over Uber Eats and it arrived in just 14mins. The lamb kebab was utterly sloppily put together, and comprised two dry chunks of lamb and large stalky pieces of lettuce (see photo). Worst kebab I have had on Smith St, never again

We love Biggie Smalla !I guess we are addicted to West Coast Sandwich (with sheimps and herbs) 😁cause every weekend we love to go there and get ours! Dont miss the Mac and Cheese too! Crispy fresh and extreemly tasty!

Seriously one of the best kebabs we have had. The mac and cheese bites were so good and the kebabs were so flavoursome. We ordered the fried chicken one, pork one and beef one and all tasted great. For dessert we tried the P-nutty icecream sandwich...OMG so darn good. My only criticism is that the tables are tiny. We are a family of 4 and had to sit on 2 booths. We would love to come here with friends but theres no point if we all cant sit together. Which they catered for larger groups.

Average! Nothing to rave about and wouldn't go back to be honest.
Limited menu and quite expensive for what it is.
Had the pork and lamb souvos, I expected pulled pork not a patty and actual pork crackling not something artificial from a packet. You cut corners and it shows.
Lamb was just average not enough flavour of moisture, quite dry.
Mac and cheese, tiny serve 3 small 50c size disks. Tasty but not worth it price wise.
Overall experience....disappointing!
Chris
Came here for the second time, hoping it will be a little better than the first!
Overall my Kebab was ok. Nothing to rave on about. Will be my last time here.
Ruwannnnn
I ordered their BBQ puffed corn salad. I was abit nervous ordering it because sometimes salads aren't that great but it ended up being so tasty. I added falafel balls and haloumi to my salad aswell as extras which made it even better. I also ordered corn dogs on the side because I had never tried them before they were unusual but very tasty also! Would recommend!
Good Food Good Mood
What can I say Shane Delia has revolutionised the way we eat kebabs. I probably eat them far more regularly than your average punter (weekly) and I've been doing a steady job of convincing my colleagues that they have a place outside being purely a post drinking late night alcohol soaker (there's a place near my office and I've got a steady group going frequently) but this joint is next level. Pita with peanut butter hummus, why hasn't someone else thought of that until now? Ah-mazing. The chips with lemon were phenomenal and washed down with my gin and juice I was in utter heaven. Chicken kebab with pumpkin pie hummus served with a side of rap. I literally couldn't have been happier. Game changing
Matt
Ducked in after the lunch rush to see if Delia had upped the ante on kebabs. There a lot of kebab joints on Smith St including my fav Jimmy Grants so big test. Grabbed an Arab which is the lamb. Friendly service got me sorted and I took a seat up the back in the replica style American booth seating. Above me are these storage areas with random sports boxes in it. Kinda cool kinda not really making any sense but whatever. Noticed power points next to the seating including a USB port to charge your digital device. That's pretty smart stuff. Be careful if you don't like loud music as the speakers are big and up the back end. The music though for what it's worth was some funky tunes. For a quality fit out you would think discreet surround sound speakers instead of giant university style boom boxes.

Food came reasonably quick but I was the only one there eating. The kebab is about medium size and wrapped tightly. Overall the whole thing was just okay. Meat had a nice char but was dry. In fact the whole meal was spill free. I could have worn a white tuxedo and come out unscathed. For me eating a kebab is about having the lovely meat juices going everywhere. Flavour was a bit tame if I'm being honest. Now this is a bit disappointing since these are the dearest kebabs on this street. Didn't try any drinks and there didn't look like any free tap water.

Before I left I used the toilet which to the credit of staff was exceptionally clean. For me there are cheaper and/or bigger and better kebabs around this area.

Make sure you come here with an empty stomach. Those kbabs are so big, make sure you try the fries with the smoked mustard mayo. So good. Atmosphere is great.
Foodie Guy
The place was nice, plays old school hip hop music.
It was a good kebab, it was real chopped meat which was great, but the flavour lacked, something was missing and it required more flavour and the bread was ok. The fried mac and cheese was nice as well as the chips. Customer service was good as well.
Matt Vaughan
Had the beef Juicy kebab and was sorely disappointed...
Great bread, great salad and sauce but the meat is beef mince cooked into rissoles... RISSOLES people! No thanks...
C'mon Shane; jack the price if you need to, but give us some slow-cooked beef deliciousness a la Gazi!
The Pet Roo
Was very keen to try one of Shane Delia's kebabs and all I can say is flavour, flavour and more flavour. Chose the 'East Coast' comprising of Pork, slaw, coriander and spicy peanut mayo and the piece de resistance 'crackling.' For $13.50 you expect a really good kebab and all I can say is sensational and well worth it. I would have rated a 5 but I was expecting pulled pork and not a Pork Sausage so I think the menu should specify this for those not keen on sausages, my only criticism!
Tia
Aside from the amazing twist on Middle Eastern foods (zaatar on chips?? shit yes) the staff are so sweet! Big ups to manager Cassie, who had my food remade when my deliveroo driver was late to pick it up. You're the real MVP.
Adam Bosman
I had the a-rab (lamb) kebab. This was nice and good serving size. The salted carmel/oreo shake (booze free ) was awesome. Also had some mac and cheese balls which were ok along with the crinkle cut chips which had a good taste to them. Overall happy with it all. 3.5/5
Melbfoodie
Chips: incredible!! Cooked just right and had an awesome spice mix on them
Kebab: I had to east coast (pork) without the evil weed (coriander). The pita bread was incredible, on par with jimmy grants pita. I wasn't so sure on the sound of peanut sauce but so glad I tried it out, went so well! (Minus 0.5 because I thought the pork crackling could've been a bit nicer, but is there such a thing as bad crackling? It was still great!!) Will absolutely be back for sure

Not your usual kebab (there are many places nearby if you want that), but the food served up by Biggie Smalls is fresh and full of flavour. I had the East Coast (pork) kebab, which was yum! Their chips are also to die for!
Amos Rojter
The falafel wasn't really to my taste, a bit bland for my liking. The chips were cold when they arrived via UberEats, so they need to sort their packaging for deliveries. I've previously had the beef Kbab, and that was great, so order that one!
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
Shane Delia’s foray into the casual scene has resulted in Biggie Smalls. Taking cues from the rapper, there’s a heavy hip-hop theme in this venue's music and wall art. Order at the counter, grab your number and take a seat at a cosy booth or perch on a stool in this 35-seat American-style diner.

The service is rubbish, the food is great - served by some lazy kiwi who screwed up my order, and then persisted in trying to 'correct' me, telling me I'd ordered something different. Also gave me the wrong drink.

Good kebabs, different but good! I had the beef and added bacon, there heaps of bacon, lots of cheese and, the meat was pretty tasty, very tasty overall. Chips were good (heaps of chips in the small size) and the Mac n Cheese bites were A+. Would go back again for sure
Elese
delicious kebabs - need a peanut butter shake on the menu and t sauce though! really liked the spice in the kebab and the bread. will be back.
Andreas
Yum. My prawn kebab was very tasty indeed. Crumbed, succulent prawns, charred bread which added a smoky quality, crunch from cucumber batons and shredded cabbage, plus harissa mayo added a touch of warmth and tang. I also left feeling very full, so it's a decent serve too. I'll be back.

Tried to order $17 deal but was told it was mon-fri, which it apparently said in fine print on the sign. So, then we had the mac & cheese fritters, which were excellent, and fries, which were crisp & nicely seasoned. Pork kebab was nice, but lamb contained 3 patties, not sliced lamb as I'd expected. Heavy on hommus & didn't like the mint. Overall a nice meal, but not special.

Holy crapballs, loved it. Excellent kebabs with some interesting twists. Mac and cheese balls got me pretty excited as well, and didn't disappoint. Everything hungover me was dreaming of and more.
Expensive Delicious Habit.
I ordered the West Coast prawn kebab with lettuce, cucumber, coriander and harissa mayo, and a drink for $17.50. As I was paying, I noticed a sign advertising their meal deal which includes a kebab, drink AND fries for $17. Yes I'll get that thanks! I would have appreciated if the staff had pointed that out. Good kebab, didn't rate the chips or the service.
Laura
Ok. I simply cannot stop talking about this place. I've had the satay pork kebab three times and each time it was amazing. The flavours are just so good!!! I'd eat it every week if it wasn't so unhealthy but seriously you gotta try it.

A Greek friend saw i was in Melbourne from the food pics on Instagram and was like if you want a great feed to hit up Biggie Smalls kebabs :).

Checked up the location and it was only 5 blocks away from where i was staying in Melbourne so it was a definite sign that i needed to go here :D!!

Found out it's Shane Delia's invention, he's a perfectionist when it comes to food, have heard plenty great things about his Restaurant Maha & have some friends who have gotten a call from him asking how the service and food was :D.

Went there on a friday night, was pleasant busy but that's Melbourne for you, never really crazy busy like Sydney which you get bored off now and then :D!!

My cousin ordered the Juicy which was Beef kebab & a Brooklyn lager :), i went for the Dirty South which was fried Chicken kebab & got the Brooklyn shake :D.. bourbon, cherry, white chocolate!!

Both Kebabs had the perfect insides with the meat check out the menu for details & they were wrapped in fluffy pita bread it was LOVE at first bite and then heart break at last bite but my hunger was satisfied :D!!
Brooklyn lager was definitely a different tasting beer and as for the Brooklyn shake i ordered another one ;D!!

I could sit down for hours, eating & drinking :)... just being mellow with the Biggie vibes :D!!

Can't wait to come back.. cousin stayed in Melbourne, so got to listen to him each week about what I'm missing out on lol!!

Amongst the kebab capital of Melbourne in Smith Street, Collingwood, is a modern, funky take on the kebab scene from Biggie Smalls. You’re not going to get 24 hour opening times here but you will get some fantastic kebabs without the usual grease hangover. I’ve dined in and Ubereats my way to some meals here, both arrived with satisfactory results.

Cool little diner eatery, came here because a friend wanted to try it. I ordered the fried chicken kebab and the chips, it was good the first couple of bites but then it got quite sickening, maybe it was the spices they had on the crust or maybe just me, veges in it were nice and fresh and the lemon aioli was nice too just the chicken crust was a bit rich for my liking, fries were quite nice too, but just a tad dry. Friend had the pork kebab which he gave up after 2 - 3 bites, it was far to heavy/rich for his liking. Would still go back to give it a 2nd go, but i wouldnt hurry back to try it.
Jessica
Great little find. Had the beef, chicken, lamb and pork kebabs and they were all outstanding. As in close your eyes and savour the moment when you take a bite good. The pork and the beef were our favs. The alcoholic milkshakes made for a great dessert. Only drawback is such a limited selection of alcohol but I guess this is somewhere you're more likely to go to after the pub anyway.

Was horrible food that didn't sit well with my boyfriend and I! Seriously don't understand the hype felt sick all night and tasted disgusting!

Not your traditional kebab but these are the most delicious kebabs i have tried. We shared the Juicy with bacon as well as the special Piggie Small and they were divine. Also must try the mac amd cheese bites. Staff were also very friendly and attentive. Will most definitely be back!

Can only comment on the food and not the service, atmosphere etc as I got delivery from here. I went for the West Coast kebab with small fries, and the kebab was hands down the best prawn one I've ever had. The sauce was spicy and unique, and the kebab was stuffed full of goodies. Whatever the seasoning on the chips was, it was bomb (although they got to me a little soggy). Can't wait to visit in store next time!

Stopped by for a quick takeaway & ordered the
East Coast (pork kebab).
The kebab menu is not your norm which I like and the pork kebab took my fancy due to having a spiced peanut mayo sauce and pork crackling (enough said)
Upon opening the wrapper the kebab looked delicious and you can see big chunks of pork & crackling.
But... there is a but.. The sauce! Way toooo much sauce!! The kebab was saturated in a strong peanut sauce and you couldn't taste anything else.
I love my sauces but this was even too much for me. Would of loved more of a light mayo with a hint of peanut or even crushed peanuts thru it.
Great space and good menu but hold the sauce!
Must Be Hungry
Came in for brunch over the weekend to try out the talk of town. We ordered an A-rab (Lamb) kbab, East Coast (Pork) kbab and crinkled chips with a drink for a total cost of $30.50. The kbabs were really tasty and different from the ones around this part of Melbourne. I do have to admit that for my palate there was way too much sauce, but that is me. The chips had hardly any salt, instead they had a combination of herbs.

The venue is really edgy and funky and I can see how Shane Delia is having fun with it after years of Maha (the restaurant, not the wife). Maha is an institution and I had the luck to dine there, here at Biggie Smalls the music and the menu are different: it is his playground, what he likes and how he is outside the tv shows and fancy restaurants. It takes balls to do that and he made it, again.

Thank you for having us...it will the next time that I will shake your hand.

What, what? How did I miss this place. When you walk in there is a DJ playing tunes from the 90s which creates a pretty good vibe. Smacked down on a 'secret' off the menu type kebab called the piggy smalls. It was unbelievably decadent with pork belly stuffed to the top of the kebab. Chips were well crafted and crunchy. I enjoyed a beer but the booze-filled milkshakes almost got it good. Friends had the A rab kebab and it looked delicious. Lost points because it smelt a bit fatty in there. Get there.

Christopher George Latore Wallace born May 21, 1972 and passed March 9, 1997, better known by his stage names The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie, or Biggie Smalls, was an American rapper. He is consistently ranked as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time. Hits you might know include Juicy, Wha Shot ya, Ten Crack Commandments and Nasty Girl, as well as the Notorious B. I. G. Once you cover that off the menu starts to sound a bit more familiar!

Orders via uuber eats. Very quick
$30 for 2 kebabs and large chips
Had the beef... tasted like a giant cheeseburger
Bf had lamb ok but not good
Chips were awful. Maybe nice if eat in but somehow dry and also soggy (prob from transport )
Cheap so ok. But going maccas next time
(We had shared a bottle of wine before delivery too)

Arrived on the peak hours of dinner service and experienced an insanity in waiting the food to come out. Even my root beer float took significantly long to come out. Lucky enough that our pain was paid off when the flaxseed kbab, crinkle cut chips and mac&cheese served to us. Falalel was a bit dry and grainy due to the flaxseed but quite fragrant and tasty. Mac&cheese was yummilicious.

The lamb kebab here is great the sauces bring out the flavours of the meat and the place has a very welcoming vibe it reminds me of the 80s a bit with booths and barber shop lights

Love it! love it so much that I ordered this TWICE this week via UberEats! Have to drop by & give you guys a visit one of these days. Keep it up!

This is my favourite kebab place! Dirty south is my favourite, the fried chicken is seasoned 👌 The bread they use for the wraps, amazing. I've tried nearly everything on the menu, but my favourite thing.... Their ice cream sandwiches!! Choc peanut butter is a favourite. Biscuit is a nice chocolatey fudgey consistency, the ice cream actually tastes like peanut butter & not some chemical concoction & the gooey caramel in the middle defies words.

Yum Yum YUM!! Never been to the actual place but the ' Uber Eats' take aways are super yummy!! Being gluten free it's so hard to find nice wraps or kebabs but this is AMAZING!! The chicken was perfectly cooked, the chips were yum but flavouring was a bit strong (maybe just personal opinion! ) Would recommend to anyone 😊
One More Glass
Yummy Kebabs - which are really filling, I like the fried chicken. Crinkle cut chips are the best. Corn dog was good but maybe a bit too much with kebab. Staff happy to send us home with a doggy bag though

Used our scoopon voucher here on Saturday night.
Entering the restaurant, we were greeted with an infectious and friendly smile and the service matched. Loved the modern twist on the traditional kebabs. We had the fried chicken kebab and also the falafel one. The pickled onions and sauce inside went perfectly with the chicken which was crispy and succulent. The falafel once was equally delicious.
Definitely worth what we paid.

Ate here last night with a friend who's a chef from Sydney. We were lucky enough to be here on a night that Shane Delia was heading up the kitchen...and we all left very happy. We ordered the fried chicken kebab, the pork kebab, and another pork kebab gluten free. To go with that we had the BBQ corn salad and a large chips. The salad was delicious, crunchy, sweet, smokey...moreish. The chips were not bad - I prefer soggy chips so that's normally an issue wherever I go! My husband had the fried chicken and raved about it all the way home. My friend and I had the pork and both of us were extremely satisfied. The pork was juicy, full of flavour, and the crackling stayed crunchy which added a great textural element to the kebab. The gluten free wrap was really delicious, much better than the option at another place that I won't name. Will definitely return...thanks Shane!!

One of the best fast food ever. Big amount of food. I had the chicken wrap and the pork one. Chicken was amazing, pork not that good, but still good.

Order: the milkshake - amazing flavour, not too sweet, and so creamy
Order: the Pork souvlaki - tender juicy Pork, balance and flavoursome sauce and filling, the crispy fried pork skin is a nice texture addition

Avoid: chips - they taste like a twice fried chips and was not even crispy to say the least
Avoid: ordering the hummus dip and lamb souvlaki at the same time. There is already a bunch of hummus in the lamb souvlaki ( unless you really really love hummus)

Love: the super friendly service and super fast food preps
Love: good price for the quality of food

I was unsure about this place since it opened. Finally decided to give it a go. Verdict: go and get a Kebab and eat it at home. Don't get me wrong - they taste great but are not worth dining in which means you end up adding on chips and a drink. There was 2of us: 2 kebab, small chips, 1 beer and 1 water - $45. Pretty steep for something that is served in a paper warp. If you want traditional kebab - this is not the place for you.

I've been twice to get a good feel for the place and the food. The wraps are very filling so that is a big plus! The ingredients have been hit and miss. The juicy was the hit, juicy and tasty and of course filling. The Dirty South though was just too dry so hard to digest. Breast meat crumbed In a thick wrap makes for too many dry ingredients in 1 mouthful. The chips are ok but again too dry and crunchy with too much seasoning on them so I wouldn't rate them as much as others have on this site. The open kitchen means that if you eat in, it is quite smoky as well. Service was good and this time around, the music wasn't too loud so it was enjoyable. It's a good kebab but I've had better.
Cat
The beef and the pork kebabs are very delicious, great sauces and the bread is very tasty. The Zataar on the crinkle chips is interesting but the dipping sauce mellows the flavour down. Would be happy to end up here again.

Not your ordunary Kebab joint .... A very fancy Kebab joint .....

This Kebab place is very inviting, modernised "Happy Days" diner feels, much fancier, non-traditional apart from its food, sleek names on the Menu.
It comes with Pork dare I say, not so Halal but very Australian, fantastic!

Would this be the fanciest Kebab Shop in Melbourne, even Australia? I would say easily Top 5.

Fancy set up, modernized American diner feels to it, sleek on Smith St, Collingwood.

Only had the Lamb Kebab, wasn't the best, was a little tough, but have good/not as authentic taste to it, wonderfully wrapped.
Sharna
The corn dogs here are a MUST !!!
Love everything about this place, the food, the style, the music and even the power points with a place to plus your charger cord in !
Fantastic staff and the food is amazing.
We had the a-rab (lamb) and the pork.
Can strongly recommend the lamb and the pork is a delightfuly interesting flavour.

Really good kebabs, I ordered the A-Rab and wow was it awesome, the service was amazing, the flavours in the A-Rab is spot on, the meat melts in your mouth along with the perfect bread that holds it in place. I don't believe in gourmet food that you can get anywhere these days but there is something about it at Biggie Smalls that makes it worth it, will be back for sure to try the other awesome flavoursome kebabs. The place is also really clean and staff is awesome.
Drove past this place few times, finally I stopped and checked it out. Got thrown a couple of suggestions, went with the east Coast pork kebab. Wow . Smashed it. Juicy, bit of crunch, loved the spicy peanut Mayo
I'm Batman
Got a deal for this joint so I visited yesterday.

On order; salted caramel shake, juicy (beef kebab), dirty south (fried chicken kebab), a-rab (lamb kebab).

The concept of gourmet kebabs haven't come across to me at all. So I was a bit sceptical of the menu but I was pleasantly surprised. The juicy was as the waiter has described it: a burger in a shape of a kebab. The sauce was quite akin to the big mac sauce. The meat was cooked great, it was just as its namesake.....JUICY. The dirty south was nice too. The fried chicken was nice, not that moist though but had good spices, and overall had good overall flavour and texture. The real let-down was the A-Rab. The lamb was lacking a kick and generally didn't go well with the smoked hummus. It's disappointing how the first 2 kebabs I tried were awesome then you try this and it just doesn't measure up to the 2 previous.

Generally speaking I have no faults to give for the dishes I tried in biggie smalls, except of course the A-Rab, the wraps they used were fluffy and soft. Hospitality on point and quite courteous. Price may be an issue ($13.5 for a kebab? Really?), but this is exactly why I bought a half-price deal prior to visiting.

With that said though, as soon as I got to the batcave, I had Alfred buy me some more deals. I'll definitely be back and will be trying their sides and desserts.
Jeff Whitenite
2 Lamb & 2 chicken kebab, voucher deal on a fri nite. I've always liked lamb, and this one's pretty good, but when I got a sample of the missus' chicken kebab - that was even better!

Busy atmosphere, loud-ish music, warm & friendly service.

I gotta go back for another round!
Hungry Ronin
There's a popular confusion between a kebab and a souvlaki. Biggie Smalls is an exemplar of the former...that Turkish-Persian version with the thick roti bread being the difference. And how well it's been done here - thick, yet fluffy and warm which pillowcase bear hug the meats, onions, salad and fresh hummus well (I had the Arab). Can't fault it. You know where your extra money is going here, with the dead on produce, Maha (owner Shane Delia's fine dining flip side) level influence and slow cooked meats. Biggie ain't no just another side of the road kebab vendor. Cue the pumping hiphop music and I'm likin this joint. Dope as, shall return fho sho.

Flavour bomb! These guys are NOT stingy on the fillings, great amount of meat and PACKED with flavour! Chips were also a flavour hit, crinkled, golden and super crunchy. Winning. Cool vibe and interesting drinks menu! Really impressed with the GF bread option because it was just as yummy (if not better) than the normal bread. Would love to see a chicken filling on the menu which isn't fried - I think a grilled chicken option would be a hit. Overall, massive thumbs up guys, we'll be back!

I'm not a usual fan of kebabs, but this place was an exception the food came very fast and was good quality, I'm a big fan of American cuisine and I loved it!

All I can say is delicious! I tried the pulled pork kebab, the kebab bread was super tasty, thick and soft. The fries were nice and crunchy and both the side dips were delicious. I also tried the Turkish delight cookie ice cream which had small pieces of Turkish delight in the ice cream which was served between two double choc chip cookies... Yum! The atmosphere, staff and music were also a great touch

Absolute👌🏼 The bread was to die for. Simply soft like eating a warm cozy cloud. The kebab was packed of flavour and I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Just the right amount of spice and sauce. Great variety of choices too! I'll be back! Onya cheers!

Been wanting to try Biggie Smalls for a while and was pumped when indie last night. Started off with a bang. Wide variety of drinks, starters were very tasty (Fries/Mac and cheese were delicious), but that's were it ended. The kebabs, which is the main item on the menu looked great on paper. Wide variety and fillings to choose from. There were 7 of us who had kebabs, I wasn't that pleased with mine. Just lacked something, wasn't as tasty as the menu suggested. Asked around the table and similar things were said. Menu to fancy? Stick to the basics? Been to Jimmy Grants over and over again as their kebabs always hit theosophy. Would I return to Biggie Smalls? Probably not. As always, this is my opinion. Try it for yourself!
Belinda Vee
I really liked Biggie Smalls, I was never a big fan of kebabs simply because I could never finish them! The serving was just right for me. I could not fault the kebab itself either! The flavours with exceptional adding a nice twist to the traditional kebab. The chips are definitely worth a try too! They played old school hip hop so that definitely was the icing on the cake for me! I will definitely be back to try the other kebab options!

DO: The ARab, West Coast or East Coast.

DON'T: Forget the chips. They're loaded with flavour and very unique. The Harissa Mayo goes well with it...something different.

TIP: Snag a table first then order. If you're after something a little more original then this place isn't the one for you. Suggest you head down a little further to the SBS classic/cult Kebab Kings a few doors down.

My friend and I were looking for a place to have a quick lunch and after walking for 5 minutes along Smith Street not knowing where to really eat in the area we quickly decided on Biggie Smalls. Glad we stopped in here just based on its inviting, cool American diner look as it turned out to be a delicious, filling and affordable lunch! I had the falafel kebab and my friend had the fried chicken one. There was so much flavour and everything was fresh and super tasty. We shared a small serving of chips which had these awesome spices on it and they were just a perfect combination of crunch and softness - amazing! The small serving of chips was more than enough, we didn't even get to finish them anyway as the kebabs were huge. I was struggling to finish mine but I was persistent on eating it all as it was that good, and boy was I really full by the end of it all. I was wearing tight jeans and a tight top and I had a meeting to go to afterwards. My goodness had I wished I wore something more loose.. I would like to return here again some day and try the other kebabs. I just wish this place wasn't so far from me as I'm from the other side of town. Thanks Biggie Smalls for giving me a happy belly :)
Nagwa Assafiri
Ordered the A Rab lamb kebab. It was terrible! Mushy lamb lacked flavour, small in size and big on price at $13 a pop.. I thought Shane Delia would have had more pride in one of his establishments. The lamb tasted pre cooked and far from fresh. The only upside to this place is that you can grab a beer!
Taking A Bite
Shane Delia's Biggie Smalls Kebabs are amazing! Located on bustling Smith St, his is a must have.
The Dirty South kebab with crispy chicken and pumpkin hummus was delicious. For extra indulgence have the Mac and cheese croquettes, so good! Their signature chips with Biggie Smalls spices are so moreish.
You won't be hungry for the rest of the day, as they are so filling, so worth it though!

Went to Biggie Smalls last week because my husband liked the felafel. He raved about it but I disliked it intensely. I'm a purist when it comes to felafel, unless you can really do something better. Unfortunately, putting zucchini inside the patty makes it slimy and revolting. It tastes raw and not in a good way. Don't love that at all but everything inside was tasty and delicious. Can't you just do an awesome felafel deep fried patty and keep the condiments and pickles the same, Shane? Carry the torch for Cleopatra's Who used to be in St Kilda, and who were once the best felafel shop in our city!

Walked past this place so many times and had to finally get in for a taste. I ordered the A-Rab kebab new school and small chips with mustard Mayo. Overall it was really delicious. Best kebabs I've had in melbourne. Meat was tender and the wrap itself was really delicious. The chips are tasty and crunchy and also the mustard Mayo was epic! Better than the Harissa one. In addition, there corn dogs are out of this world. Happily go back here for another feed.
Kasey
I had the East Coast and hubby had the A-rab. Both were delicious! That was the best pulled pork I've ever eaten and the crackling throughout was spectacular! I was almost put off ordering this one when I saw it had peanut butter hommus but it was amazing and that peanut butter flavour didn't dominate. Will definitely be going back.
Dee
Really good food! Such a refreshing change for a lunch when you're out for a bite or on a work break. Service was spot-on, fast and loved the booths, so comfy! One piece of advice- the chips were great but would be awesome if there was just free tomato sauce and/or mayo on the tables to put on them! I know you can buy special sauces but at least have good-old-fashioned sauce available too!
Christopher James
Pumping Hip Hop and Juicy Modernist Souvas

This place was definitely on point with some quality hip hop matched my imaginative souvlakis. Definitely get onto the 'east coast' and 'the juicy'. The chips were also beautiful with some ridiculously tasty seasoning that would have been even betta with some fetta. ;)
Jennifer Lay
Where do I start?! Best lamb kebab I've ever had!! A-rab has the most delicious tender, melt in your mouth lamb! Dirty south, big juicy piece of chicken! The hot sauce killed me a little but flavours were delicious. Crinkle cut chips with secret herbs and spices were deliciously crispy and soo much flavour! My partner and I went 50/50 on the kebabs and We will definitely be back! Yum!

As a vegetarian the only kebab I could eat was the C.Wallace, which was fine by me as the description sounded amazing - with falafels, pickles, leaves and smoked hummus. Unfortunately my experience was pretty disappointing though.

The falafels were big and soft, but unfortunately they seemed to be raw, almost gooey, in the centre, and they had a pretty unpleasant raw taste too. They had completely lost any crunch as they were totally drowned in mayonnaise, to the point where I had to actually scoop the mayonnaise out of my kebab to even be able to get the the falafel.

There was one tiny slither of pickle and 2 shrivelled up leaves in the entire kebab, which was a bit of a bummer as some textural contrast was really needed against the soft bread, the gooey falafel and the gooey sauce.

I totally get that mistakes happen in the kitchen, but I'm not sure any of this was a mistake, my boyfriend and I were the only people there at the time, so there shouldn't have been too much pressure on the kitchen?

This leaves me not knowing if I will return or not..because having said all this the smoked hummus in the kebab was amazing and fresh, and the seasoned crinkle cut chips and dipping sauce were some of my favourite in Melbourne!

The minute you walk into this place, you feel like you've walked into an American diner. The vibe and music is spot on! The service was fast and friendly and it's fantastic being able to see where your food is prepared.
I had the Juicy (minced beef kefta kebab) and my husband ordered the Dirty South (fried chicken kebab) plus large 'biggie' chips. The seasoning on the chips is simply amazing, however I can't help but wonder if they'd be even better if they weren't crinkled chips but rather skin on freshly cut potato chips with a sprinkle of feta cheese.
The kebabs were quite a generous sizing, I couldn't finish mine! The meat was well flavoured and fresh, however slightly overpowered by all the ingredients inside the kebab (next time I'll leave a few things out). The bread the kebab was rolled in was AMAZING, soft and fresh, yum!
One tiny criticism, I conveyed to the girl at the register that I was pregnant (while inquiring about the way the Mayo is made) and my kefta came out medium rare grilled. Unfortunately I couldn't eat it entirely and had to give it to my hubby. The service would've been 5* if the front girl had conveyed to the prep guy that I needed my meat well done. I suppose next time I'll just be a little clearer about it.
Nevertheless, well worth the trip and we will be back!

I’m baaaaack! Well kinda, I’m trying to ease back into things after taking a bit of a hiatus, thanks to some not so enjoyable morning sickness (baby number two is well and truely cooking, and giving me some grief in the mean time). After 4.5 months of not being able to stomach much, we finally decided to venture out and enjoy some food with taste – oh how I’ve missed you! So off we went to Shane Delia’s latest kebab venture, Biggie Smalls.

Twist on kebabs. Mine came with a peanut butter hummus which was delicious.
One of the chips we ordered never came even though we reminded them. They gave us a refund and apologized. Very sincere and friendly.

Amazing! One of the best kebabs I've tested! My first bite was mixture of flavors and every other bite after that was different from the one before! Thank you guys for opening the doors to heaven!
Came to this place with a couple mates and wasn't impressed. Nice location in Collingwood and was a really cool setup. However, the food was way too overpriced and the wrap I had was literally fried packaged chicken with a bit of Hommus and mint leaves. Wrap had no taste at all and was bang average for the price.
Good atmosphere, good location but overpriced and forgettable food.

Absolutely love this place for a casual feed, alternative kebabs with American twist to it. Quick and easy the waitress was very helpful about the menu. You have your typical kebab with lamb a few greens and garlic sauce. Or you can have the pulled pork with tiny bits of crackle and choice of sauces. I had the peanut satay sauce with a few greens, it was absolutely delicious. It was busy on a Saturday night but the service was quick and the food was delicious and the atmosphere was funky trendy and if you like hip-hop music that's the place. Recommend.👍

Ordered the Arab (standard lamb with smoked hummus ) and small chips with side of Harissa Mayo. $19. All tasted ok but left me wanting. Meat was tender but not a lot of flavour, and missing crunchy bits you get at Lambs or Souvlaki King. Bread was soft, too soft for my taste and Harissa Mayo too sweet. This is not food for adults. Left over half on tray. Won't be back.
Had the felafel, old skool, with chips and the corn salad - the smoked hummus gives a nice campfire feel to things, the hot sauce had a bit of kick, but overall the roll was a tad dry. The corn salad was lovely from a textural perspective, with both puffed and barbecued corn, baby spinach and smoked almonds, but the dressing was a little cloying, with too much wine vinegar which would have made the salad unpleasant as a standalone dish. The chips were the highlight - crispy crinkle cut beauties dusted with a salt mix that included Aleppo pepper (pul biber) and what appeared to be za'atar. The place was very vibey with it's two-tone booths and played some cool hip hop on the Tannoy, but when push comes to shove there are better celeb-chef borne fancy wrap options in the area.

I have been here on two occasions now and have had mixed experiences, the first time I ordered the dirty south and I will admit it wasn't for me, however I decided to give this place another go and tried another option (the juicy) and had a much more positive experience.
Gee
Popped in here after a few drinks. It happened to be the 19th anniversary of his death which was uncanny! Had the fried chicken souva which hit the spot! Cool fitout and friendly staff behind the counter.

Visited this joint tonight, ordered a-rab, juicy and chips. Chips were nothing special, had some herbs and seasoning and were crispy. A-rab had a nice smokey flavour. Juicy was alright, the meat was a little cold, hummus was OK. Overall, the kebabs were just OK but nothing to rave about. The best part has to be the bread... Oh my fluffy goodness.
J
This place is awesome!! Couldn't recommend more highly. Great fit out, perfect vibe, pumping tunes and happy up beat cheery staff and delicious kebabs. Plenty of menu options and its something a little different. Do yourself a favour and check it out.
Definitely going to check out Maha next!

I had a kebab here that was infected with a cockroach. I bit into it, which I thought was a piece of blackened garlic. Little did I know, it was a cockroach that I bit into. I al scarred and outraged.

Went last night and loved it. Had the a-rab - lamb was super tender, free from grissle or fat, and the pitas are so soft & fluffy. Highly rate it! Dig the hip hop soundtrack too. Not sure about reports of leaving hungry, the kebab I had was huge.

I'm serious about kebabs and all round general deliciousness, plus I love Maha, so was nervous about trying Biggie Smalls after reading all the posts below. didn't need to be, absolutely BLOWN AWAY! One of the best things I've ever eaten, I had the fried chicken kebab and it changed my life, not sure I can eat normal unfried kebabs now after this. My pet peeve is stingy fillings and too much bread. No issues here at all! generous fillings, and the bread itself is a bit oily and cripy and covered in herbs and bloody good. GO HERE NOW! and then go back a million more times.
Good but not great. Cool vibe and fit out. Had the a-rab with new skool sauce and a grape soda ($17). Found the meat was deliciously tender and there were no fatty bits, however the whole kebab unfortunately lacked flavour for me and I left hungry. The chips where delicious though! A vegan girlfriend of mine struggled with finding out if the mayo had any dairy in it as the young girl behind the counter clearly didnt understand what she was talking about. I'd come back only if I was in the area and craving a kebab

A low rating I know.

Only been here once.

I notice the mixed reviews.

My experience was OK. The vibe is cool, the set up is great and the music was awesome.
The service was friendly and efficient; appreciate that. The food? For me, I didn't enjoy it. I decided to try two of the kebabs and I didn't receive much meat, condiments, sauces or additional fillings. I could only really taste the bread. The chips were well cooked but only a small amount of seasoning that I could only just taste. The dessert was also disappointing; I ordered the peanut butter caramel injected pretzel. I had about less than a teaspoon of caramel in total, across the whole pretzel. No bull.

Didn't feel like it was good value for money either.

Having written all of this however, others have gone here since and given much better feedback. So I'm definitely willing to give it another crack.

Give it a go and comment on this review if you have a better experience! Cheers

We took a table out on the street and deliberated over the kebab menu. I went to place our order inside at the very clearly labelled order kiosk:. A-rab - Lamb, smoked hummus, leaves and pickled bits. East Coast - Maple glazed pulled pork, crackling, peanut butter hummus, leaves and pickled bits. Hot crinkle chips and harissa mayo

As a massive rap fan, when i saw the name of this place i was intrigued and i certainly wasn't dissapointed. Everything about this place hit the spot for me, the atmosphere was superb and the kebab i had, the juicy was easily the nicest kebab i have ever had and the chips were way up there too. I will certainly be back.
@eatingupwiththehannashians
LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH! How can you not love eating kebabs and fries while listening to hip hop? Shout out to the desserts because they are totally killer, shout out to Shane cause he is such a legend! Cannot wait to visit again when we get back to Melbs.

Ordered the old skool A-Rab (lamb). Figured the lamb kebab would be ideal to review, classic with a twist. It was tasty, but very salty. My friends ordered the falafel kebabs w chips and enjoyed it. The only thing that makes this joint stand out is the sweet ass hip hop beats. We did enjoy it. Would we hurry back? No. I've ticked the box. There's another well known chef who's kebabs I rate much higher and would return for in a flash. Soz Shane.

Been twice and can't wait to go a 3rd.

The food is as good as biggies flow.

Funky menu great music quick service and finally not your average kebab which is a great point of difference.

Play more 2pac.... 😃

I rocked up yesterday with my missus and out of the things we ate and drank ( East Coast kebab,
Dirty South Kebab, fries ,cider and Milkshake)
.. The Fries were the best fries I ever had
... Me and the missus were arguing over the milkshake it was that good
.. The kebabs were that good I actually bought another one to take home and eat later.

Best retail food outlet I've come across in Melbourne.
Ps - if your a hip hop head the beats are off the hook too !

The competitor of Jimmy Grants? Mixed reviews and I see why. Was hopping for a straight up traditional kebab but was greeted with confusing puns about a rap artist. Couldn't work out the connection with kebabs and rap? The only good thing I could comment on was the selection of drinks on offer and the chips were ok too...

Amazing Kebabs. Easily the best in town! Amazing work Shane - Props on the great tunes and flavours. Had the East Coast with the Biggie Crinkles, defs coming back.
The number of eating venues in Smith street is truly amazing. Cheap & cheerful to fine dining 😊 . Tonight after a walk along the length of Smith taking in the sights (some amazing old architecture) and locals, we decided on Biggie Smalls. Kebabs on the menu along with a Brooklyn beer & some chips. Super tasty kebabs and quite filling 😊 not too pricey for the size! Adequately sated we headed home.
Price notwithstanding (don't go if you're expecting donor kebab prices), this place is amazing. Yes, $12 for the beef kebab is steep, even more so when you add $4 for the chips and $2 for the sauce (which I argue would actually be nice if it could be complimentary, but anyway...) but the taste... THAT TASTE! The beef melted in my mouth and the salty chips made me both happy and my BMI sad at the same time. Food's served up quickly, and the beats are sweet. I wouldn't go here all the time, but the next time I have $18 as I'm walking past I'll definitely stop to test out the fried chicken.
Ben Neal
Loved everything !!! The food was amazing the decor very NY the service fantastic . I had the shrimp and it was so good , interesting flavours , I have now been 2 x when in Melbourne and wish there was the same in Sydney.
Thank you Shane for opening this great food venture.

Nothing to write about, found it expensive, lousy service.

I was hoping it would be out of this world, similar to JG another useless joint.

Here we have pros giving us what supposed to be a great feed, turns out an amateur can do better, sorry guys for the negativeness. I won't be going back, it also seems that anything new opening in smith st is going to be top class.

Biggie Smalls is a fairly new establishment from Shane Delia. Upon coming to the shop you have some cool r n b tunes to lay the easygoing vibe (my fav music btw). Colorful spraypainted ceiling just before you enter. Nice guy from NJ USA greeted me. I couldn't decide but went with the "East coast". Filled with pulled pork with a lovely sweetness. Bread was amazing. Light and soft with just enough padding to soak up the juices of the pork. Peanut butter and pork (who knew it would work). If you want a greasy kebab after a night of clubbing this ain't for you. These are pimped up kebabs with a modern twist. Twisted chips were nice and crunchy. Washed down with a Brooklyn Lager. Delish from Deliah......
GG & KK
Bought the kids kebab for my kid and found the bread quite oily and the lamb came with big chunks of fat. The flavour of the lamb was otherwise good.

Also ordered the fried chicken kebab and sadly just wasn't into the taste. Others may like it.

Ok with all the hype around this place I checked it out on Friday night with a mate for an early dinner and I must say it was a massive disappointment. I get there brand is positioned around Notorious B.I.G but playing aggressive gangster rap with vulgar language in the late arvo / early evening when families are dining is a little bit much. Food wise I opted for the Juicy and a serve of hot crinkles. The crinkles were ok but the kebab below par plus my mates kebab (C.Wallace) came out 15 minutes after mine. The only thing it will be notorious for is.... not much really...

My wife and I went down to biggie smalls today. Stuck in traffic on the way we were pretty peckish when we got there. The vibe upon entering the restraunt was awesome. With old school hip hop a delight to the ears and an urban feel with a great selection of local and international beers. This place had my tick of approval before I even bit into the East Coast kebab I ordered. Bread that was mouthwatering and the pulled pork was perfection. A hint of peanut butter hommous hit the pallet just nicely. We were both surprised and delighted to meet the owner and chef Shane Delia who not only greeted us and gave us his recomendation on what to order but was kind enough to grab a photo with my wife and have a chat with us after the meal. Top bloke even better food. Will be back.
Jay Marios
Unbelievably good feed. Great fitout, awesome tunes and incredible use of spices. Good to see old mate Shane in there working too. Highly recommended.
Sweet And Sour Fork
Biggie Smalls is a little different from what I had expected. What I envisioned was a bit like Jimmy Grants – souped-up souvlakis that nevertheless are still rooted in tradition. In comparison, the kebabs here are more like a cousin, twice removed. That’s not to say they’re not good; they’re just probably not what someone who wants a kebab would be after. Regardless of what you’re here for though, you’d better make sure you like listening to old-school rap and hip-hop while you eat.
Meri Green
I really wanted to like this place- but it just didn't live up to the hype for me. The food was OK- I expected something with a bit more punch and flavour than what it actually was. The set up of the restaurant was equally OK, music far too loud and I found it hard to have a conversation. I did go when it first opened and maybe it had a few teething problems- I'll probably try it again at some stage- but for me at the moment, nothing to go crazy about, Sorry!
Vinny
Finally checked out this place, as I'd walked past it a few times and always saw lines running out the door. Got the fried chicken kebab which actually turned out really good :) the kewpie may was awesome and i really liked the bread as it was like thick but soft still. Chicken was really tasty too and would love to go back to try the pulled pork one. I think it's worth a trip if you like a kebab as it's a different take on them. The size of the kebab is just average not too big or small but its $14 so bit more than the normal kebabs.. i think normal kebabs are prob better overall but this is nice for a change.
Sweetsbizznezz
I tried Biggie Smalls for the first time on a weekday lunch. The interior holds a close resemblance to a 1950's American diner, yellow and green tiles line the wall, with matching round bench stools and booths. As a lover of great interiors, I think Biggie Smalls lacks a certain wow factor. You could have a lot of fun with a diner theme, but it did feel a little drab and not particularly stylish inside.

I ordered the A-Rab with a small chips. There was a short wait for my meal with polite wait staff, my kebab was a decent serving size with a large, sharable amount of chips despite ordering the small. The flavour of my kebab was decent, the actual bread was delicious. Similar to the interior, I think the actual contents of my kebab lacked a certain flavour punch. There was a warning on the menu about the Biggie hot sauce, which in the end was unnecessary, as there was a distinct lack of heat in my kebab. I did also find it quite salty.

It's hard not to compare Biggie Smalls to its obvious competitor Jimmy Grants, which is just a short walk down the street. As a new establishment I think Biggie Smalls is still finding its feet, and I probably won't return for a few months until it has had a bit more time to settle.

Shane Delia plus kebabs? What could go wrong?! While his high-end Maha remains my favorite restaurant in Melbourne, Delia has definitely made his mark on the city's kebab scene. The bread is thick and soft and herby, the sauces are interesting (peanut butter Humous!!) and the meat options are all tender, moist and tasty. So many choices - check out the menu. I pity the locals who have been in Smith St selling kebabs for decades. Shane's in town and the world has changed! Especially great if you like rap - it's loud! I don't, but... Get me a kebab!!
Redwine
Delish kebabs and always an added bonus when Shane D himself is on the grill :) Seems overpriced but makes for a worthy treat. Will be back!

Came today for lunch. We got the West Coast & the Juicy. West Coast was good filled with prawns and worth $14.
Hubby had the Juicy said it was delicious and tasted like Adana kebabs. The only downside was that one of the beef kefte was undercooked. It was actually raw.. We didn't want to complain as hubby was at the end of his kebab and didn't want to seem like a whinge.. Unsure if we will be back anytime soon. Still love Shane Delia though..

I walked 45 mins each way from my hotel to try Shane Delia's new gig. Had the A-rab Kbab old skool (garlic and mint). The bread was thick, soft and had crumbly bits (semolina?) which made it delicious. The lamb was oh so tender - forget about anything processed here - and the hommus was smoky and delicious.
I had it with chips which were crispy, salty and good (who doesn't want salty chips??) and the Harissa/Mayo dipping sauce. Washed it all down with a Canadian Club.
I was sad I couldn't finish it, but happy it meant I was still too satisfied to have dinner.
Open one in Sydney!!

This end of Smith Street is the place to be. Biggie Smalls is serving super fresh kebabs and sides with friendly staff and great service. Ordered quickly, found a table and food arrived. Great vibe and delicious food.

Although my first biggie smalls experience wasn't great and the food was less then perfect I must commend the staff and in particular the owner Shane delia on personally contacting me to rectify the problem and work on improving the venue and service. Definitely a place to look out for in the future. Moving in the right direction for sure
Mr. J.
Great vibe, great service, and above all, great taste!
I had the 'West Coast' (fried shrimp, Harissa and Harissa Mayo) - and loved it. Size was good, and as mentioned, the taste was spot on. Recommend!
Scott De Bresser
Wow, the chips were great and the ARab was delish, rich lamb and smoky hummus then the brilliant pickled bits to cut thr...ough and keep it interesting. But the eat of the meet goes to my wife's East Coast. The maple glazed pulled pork is insane. If only I didn't live 300kms away!!! Will definitely be in for a Dirty South next time I'm in town. If there is a celebrity chef kebab battle going on in Melb, Biggies is killing Jimmies. #justsayin
Melbourne Warhammer
Came here to get takeout for my co-workers. Not only did they get our order wrong, the food was incredibly salty which we all struggle to stomach. Even the fries and Falafel were too salty.
MsV
My second time here at Biggie Smalls.... And a better experience than the first. Servings seem more generous. Still a great vibe with cool Hip Hop music playing.
Lulamay
East coast kebab with peanut butter hummus is the bomb, especially teamed with the unbeatable hip hop beats which are also piped through to the bathroom. Crunchy chips were excellent and seasoning was spot on. Will definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

Huge fan of Biggies - kebabs are amazing (East Coast all the way), chips with spiced mayo are awesome and the fact they sell Melbourne Bitter cans just rams the point home. Always great tunes on rotation too.

Already dined 6 times at Shane Delia's new venture, Biggies Smalls kbabs in collingwood. Never left disappointed, if anything the kbabs are now even bigger. My recommendation would be the chicken or pork with a serve of fries and definately finish of with an icecream sandwich. Go Shane!!! Keep up the good work and keep rolling those kebabs. Best ever in Australia. Not like those pretend kebabs at jimmy grants, soggy chips in fatty meat rolled into something called a kebab. No thanks, George you need to take lessons from Shane. Biggies Smalls know how to roll a kebab. Shane are you opening new sites ?
Casey Freeman
My mate and I had been desperate to get to Biggie Smalls since it had opened and it did not disappoint! The fit-out is incredible, the staff are amazing and those kebabs... We'll they are a dream come true. My friend had the vego option and I got straight into it with a Juicy and chips.

The food was super quick and delicious, and we had a pretty great time sitting on Smith St in the sun eating, drinking tinnies and listening to tunes. We had such a good time we backed it up the next night and it was just as good.

The food is filling and delicious and you can tell that everything is super fresh and high quality. We are already talking about hitting it up again.

Thanks Biggie Smalls! x
Marlene Maroun Chamoun
Recently revisted Biggie Smalls, same amazing friendly atmosphere but the kbabs were bigger and juicer than ever. Definitely worth the 1 hour drive, simply amazing food with a menu that's totally unique. The drink list is one of a kind, we especially loved their watermelon gin and juice. Big compliments to Shane Delia and chef Eli. This place is a must to try, already craving the Dirty South.
Tasty Tamales
Being a massive fan of Shane Delia's Maha and cooking shows, I was so looking forward to trying his new venture out. On first impressions, they have nailed the diner style fitout. But alas, I was left feeling a little underwhelmed with the meal itself. We shared a children's meal Arab kabab and Dirty South. The kids meal is good value for money for $10. There was a generous serve of tender lamb in the kebab - however only the smallest smear of hummus - and nothing else. I was disappointed by the lack of pickles or no offering of garlic yogurt/kewpie mayo. This was only recognised after the meal had been received. The Dirty South was much more flavoursome with the extra fillings. We both felt the pita bread is a little too thick for our liking. We finished off with a takeaway Bombzel which was tasty, but undercooked. I had hoped to bite into some gooey salted caramal, but instead found it to be cool and chewy. Overall an average dining experience.

Was eager to check out Shane Delia's new kebab place and it didn't fail to disappoint. As soon as you walk in you instantly get the vibe of old school hip hop beats that flow through the diner style restaurant complete with plenty of pictures of Biggie himself decorating the walls. Great selection of kebabs - we had the Juicy that had heaps of beef kofta's with Old Skool garlic and mint sauce plus the A Rab which was a lamb version, this had New Skool sauce of kewpie Mayo. The Biggie size crinkles (chips) were massive but were delicious with their cumin and middle eastern spices. All in all a great meal and experience.

We went into this with high expectations and were properly disappointed. My partner and I went for lunch on Saturday and decided to share a C.Wallace Old Skool ($9), Phat Touche salad ($12!?) and a small Hot Crinkles ($4) & 2 drinks. The smell and vibe of this place is pretty on point so it is fair to say that our expectations only grew as we were sitting there waiting for our meal. When the Phat Touche was brought out my jaw dropped...this thing was not even the size of an average side salad, how do you have the hide to charge $12 for this?? Anyway, you'd think the flavours (because, Shane Delia) would absolutely blow you away, right? Wrong. Lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber and a couple of crutons coated in some kind of creamy dressing (yuck) that lacked any kind of seasoning or effort. The crutons were good but aside from that it was a total disappointment. Out comes the C.Wallace (falafel) and Hot Crinkles with Harissa sauce. Both were OK. I personally loved the bread, but my partner thought it was too doughy for a kebab (which it was, but I loved it anyway). The falafels weren't anything special and the spinach + sauce were just average. The Hot Crinkes were super oily but the seasoning and the Harissa was nice. Overall for a $35.50 meal (that we got to share!) both of us left extremely disappointed and would not return or recommend to others.

Great Restaurant. Love the Brooklyn theme, if your a hip-hop head this place plays nothing but quality vintage 90s tunes! THe kebabs are one of the best I've had in Australia, they take a while to come out but its for a reason, top quality stuff!
FoodieAboutTown
Shane Delia’s new kebab house on Smith Street is fun, fresh and taking the Notorious B.I.G to another level with a menu full of throwbacks to C Wallace and the crew! The menu starts with your first step to your kebab – what sauce are you? Old Skool with garlic and mint or New School with kewpie mayo – frickin’ genius move – kewpie makes everything rock!
Dannyharb69
This is a place where you must try as it puts other kebab and souvlaki joints to shame. Amazing service, amazing food and amazing fit out overall. Generous serving of fillings and 'real' drinks to go with this type of food. Love it, well done Shane on such a great concept.
The Frugal Cats
Biggie Smalls has a funky American diner vibe to it. The kebabs were on the small side, but were just enough with a side of chips. We ordered the A-rab and the Dirty South with traditional garlic sauce. The lamb was tender and perfectly complimented by the pumpkin humus. The chicken in the Dirth South was delicious but was disappointingly very scarcely present. While I'm not usually a fan of pita wraps and prefer my kebabs with turkish bread, Biggie Smalls has the best wrap I've ever had. We shall definitely pop back if we're in the area :3
Lam K
Magnificent food although the kebabs were a bit small for a big eater. Found with the side of chips it was just enough. Can get really busy so may pay to check it out outside of peak times.
Theo
Swung by Biggie Smalls for the first time tonight, staff were great, food was great - I had the West Coast but I also had the gin and juice... It tasted like someone had added a lot of salt to the mix. I couldn't drink it, nor could my mates and half an hour later I can still taste salt!
Jaytay
Awesome food.... Just little bit too small for me! Could eat 3 easily.....that being said I had the dirty south and it was awesome.

Had the pretzel too which was too dense and dry. If it was hot and soft it would be perfection!
Jason Lim Chung How
Finally get a chance to try it, after read it on almost any food article. Great environment, great music. Tried the "juicy", a beef kebab they offer, not bad but not smt that would blow your mind kind. But the fries is really good.
Sammy
Loved everything about this place... from decor to the Kbabs... which by the way were simply to die for! I now have officially tried every single item on the menu and have no hesitation in recommending this place. I especially love the size of the kbabs as they allowed me to indulge in seconds 😋😋😋 Biggie Smalls you rock!
Sammy
Very tasty...BUT.....Biggie Smalls would need 5 of these tasty creations to tickle his belly!!
C'mon guys, you are on a good thing...charge a few dollars more if you need to but please make them bigger!!
Stephen Raphael
I need to go back again soon to try it again, but on initial review and thought, this is simply an over priced kebab joint with a great fit out and theme. Some cool menu ideas are let down by execution and quality being low, and when you're these prices you expect more. I like Shane's work over and above Georges but this is a place to be seen not to have a quick eat to remember. Average.
Finger Lickin
This place was really cool. From the minute you walk in you know that the kebab shop industry has changed forever. The menu was full of variety and the vibe in the place was a lot of fun. The chips were some of the best I've ever tasted. The kebabs was filling and very tasty. Also had the best Turkish delight ice cream for dessert.
Maha Delia
This place is amazing, from the moment you walk in there is a great atmosphere, the concept it great and the kbabs are delicious, best I've ever eaten, my favorite was the "dirty south" will be back to try them all!
Facebook User
Great vibe. Service was really good - came during a quieter time in the middle of the day but really good service. Love how you are part of the kitchen, very NYC. Well priced, interesting flavour combinations and good selection of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Check it out
Yonatan Rotem
I needed something quick and i like biggie. For 11 bux a kebab i thought im not gonna need chips as a side. I got em anyway and thank the lords. This kebab's size pales in comparison even compared to a soft taco. The taste is ok but its practically a piece of meat in a small piece of wrap with minimal veggies and a lot of sauce. This place will not stand the test of time and is a huge rip off. 15 dollars and im still full. A kebab place that cant even make a kebab. The owner should be ashamed, proper theft. Will never go back again. 0/5.
Ryan Kurban
Checkout the newly opened Biggie Smalls and I wasn't disappointed.
I had the A-RAB which was amazing!! Just the right amount of sauce (the harrisa was magic), the meat was tender and wasn't fat which I thought it would be.. Staff were friendly and attentive to the customers.. Only down side was the chip were a bit oily but the seasoning was great on them. Overall much better then jimmy grants both price and flavour great work guys
Kelly Belly
Yes the kebabs are small. Slightly smaller than Jimmy Grants IMHO. However, add a side of their butter drenched fries and a filling meal it doth make. We had the lamb with Old Skool roasted garlic sauce. Soft pita, tender lamb and tangy spicy and pickle-y accompaniments. Nom nom until doh. We both found a piece of bone in our kebabs. They did apologise and refunded, explaining it would have happened as they carve the lamb out of the oven. Forgiven. I'm sure they'll get their rhythm soon. But for us, Jimmy Grants is still king.

Had a good feeling stepping into this place when KRS-1 started talking at me. Werd. As a massive fan of Boogie Down Productions I feel that this may have influenced my review.

Came here late afternoon, and was almost empty, so didn't have to deal with what I can imagine are pretty massive queues at time. Fitout is American diner style, and done very well - booths in ugly coloured pastels, and food boards made with pinned on letters and numbers.

Great location toward the southern end of Smith Street, right next to one of my favourite Melbourne bars, Dirty Secrets.

While I only tried the one "kbab" - the "Dirty South" with fried chicken, pickles, pumpkin pie hommus and Kewpie mayo, it was damn good. As has been noted already by many people the serves are small, but that being said you can still get two kebabs and a side for around $20, which is pretty cheap in my books for a quality meal. Size is reminiscent of those from Jimmy Grants, with which this place does have several similarities, although goes for a more themed style.

Will be interested in trying the other kebabs, but from word of mouth they are all supposed to be pretty good!
George Forgan-Smith
Just this weekend I had a mate share a post about this “kool new skool” kebab shop on Smith Street Collingwood, Biggie Smalls. Now I am really not a kebab kinda guy. Too big, too messy, you know the drill… That said most everyone knows I have a bit of a passion for USA style food. When I heard of US diner cross kebab shop my ears perked up… Pork belly kebab? Oh I am in baby!!!
The World Loves Melbourne
You might be mistaken for assuming Biggie Smalls was music venue; instead it is Shane Delia's latest pet project that mashes up his Middle Eastern Roots with his love of the late artist and 90's hip hop. . The World Loves Melbourne was invited to the opening night of the award-winning restaurateur and chef's new urban kebab concept. We arrived minus the obligatory hangover one usually associates with the kebab occasion, and ready for an objective kebab assessment.
Lady In Bread
I am starving.
I'm actually ravenous.
My mouth is flickering and my nose high in the flamboyant aromatic freeway to Biggie. And damn. Damn I'm disappointed. Not 100%, but the place is flush, back to back with interior flesh out lushness, all the branding and signage is great, the staff are a bunch of cuties in snap backs and smiles, but damn. The food is really average. I had the A-Rab New Skool and small fries. All looks great, but pretty flavourless. The actual kebab bread is incredible, and pretty fresh in terms of people aren't really doing it like this, but it lacked lustre and after eating those fries that are basically just dark crispy chip oil, I feel pretty heavy. And dirty. Also I'm pretty deep into that soul groove but the music here is purrrity obnoxious. As I look at my 1/4 eaten tinware of crinkle cuts, i remember how much I craved this 20 minutes ago. And how now, I might as well mess right up and go to Messina to fix the pain. Sorry.
I. D.
After having cycled past here a couple of times and noticing the great beats and the place being packed every time, it was time for me to check it out! We had a C.Wallace (falafel) with New Skool sauce and an A-rab (lamb) with Old Skool sauce. The vibe was good, the service was friendly. The food was okay. The C.Wallace was my favourite out of these two, and I thought it was pretty good. The lamb in the A-rab was dry which made it not very good. Happy to have tried it, but I wouldn't go back (unless I have been drinking and craving for a kebab ;) ).
Tim
Biggie Smalls - the only kebabs you don't need to be drunk to enjoy!
Yes they are on the small side for the price, but the ingredients and the labour put into these thing pays off. If you want a kebab combo go down the st, there are plenty of you standard kebab shops around.
The standout for me, the lamb and the beef. Flavours that scream! I think the chicken is lacking a bit of punch and the prawn was good, but not amazing.
You could easily come here listen to some good Ol school beats and smash a few good beers too.
Good to see Shane pumping out kebabs in the kitchen too!

Walking down Smith Street towards Biggie Smalls I couldn’t help but double take at one of the other kebab shops along the way. It’s claim to fame is being the shop that is used for a TV show. I have seen some ads for that show (Kebab Kings) and it makes me worry for the future of that particular shop.

Had the lamb, pork and fried chicken kebabs.. All of them were delicious, the meat is juicy and they're generous with the sauce. The music is loud so you'll have to yell your order to the girls at the register but the music is also awesome so who cares. They have charging ports at the booth too! Yes!

Diners in Melbourne are always wanting to know who’s hot, who not and Biggie Smalls Kbabs Collingwood, the newest kebab shop to hit Melbourne is definitely the former. For the best part of 20 years it was all a dream until owner Shane Delia was finally able to turn his idea into reality.

Now first to start off biggie smalls has the exact same problem that Jimmy Grants had when it opened, the kebabs are way way way to small! Jimmy Grants addressed this after much public outcry and hopefully this will happen with biggie smalls.
I ordered the juicy kebab with old school roast garlic, the juicy contains kofte as its meat the kofte are cooked very pink almost medium so if you don't like pink meat stay away from this one, the flavour of all the ingredients was great and the bread and sauce worked well together, i went for lunch and it wasn't overly busy, but the place is small and will fill up fast when busy, i look forward to trying some of there other menu items if i ever go back.
