In the middle of Connolly shopping centre, not far from Connolly golf course, sits a wonderful oasis of Japanese food called D’s Authentic Japanese. It’s been on my radar to try D’s for a while, but I’ve been put off by the pricey menu, wondering if this food can really be as great as Perth stalwarts like Ha-Lu and Satsuki.
We were really torn on this review if 3.5was an option we’d have selected it
The service was phenomenal and some of the food was delicious, however the price for the size wasn’t aligned. Claremont price comment is accurate.
Menu is small, no chicken or non-seafood sushi is an option which was disappointing, beef was delicious but plate was far more salad than beef.
Dessert however was wonderful, light and something different.
Total bill came to almost $200.
$7 BYO wine seemed steep by comparison. Decor was so so, this is still an old chicken treat restaurant and you can tell in part.
Beautiful authentic Japanese food! One of the best in Perth. Will visit regularly despite I live in SOR.
First visit here and definitely won't be our last. 5 star experience from start to finish.
The wait staff were informative, attentive and friendly.
The food was delicious, especially the shogoyaki pork and the cheesecake for desert.
Cannot fault at all
My family, my partner and I went here last Saturday and we enjoyed our meal immensely. The staff were extremely attentive and welcoming. We started with a dish of edamane, lotus chips (yum), and the gold sashimi (what a good variety and so fresh). My partner tried the sea urchin sashimi and we all had a try, not bad tasted like fish roe to me. For mains we had the shabu shabu and chicken katsu to finish off our delicious meal.

First of all, must mention the lovely waitor who looked after our table (gentleman with the ombre blonde hair with the black apple watch). His service was incredible and was so polite, probably one of the best table service experienced.
Now lets get to the food.
Between two, we shared the silver sashimi, tempura set, lotus chips and the seafood hot pot.
We were more than satisfied and everything was authentic and delicious.
Lotus chips were so fresh and crisp, I could be back just for this. The sashimi melted in our mouth and the “real” wasabi was a nice touch.
Def worth the drive if you are from south of the river.
Plenty of parking on site.

Could not really fault any of the dishes. Especially loved the fresh sashimi and lightly buttered tempura. Japanese worth the 50km drive for.
One of my best experience so far on my food trip here. Trying japanese after so long and so mouth drooling the dishes are. Have heard about D many times and trying it was nice.
Can safely say that D is one of the few absolute best japanese restaurants in perth. Service...atmosphere and the food nothing to complain about.
Japanese Dining hidden in the local suburb of Connolly with lovely ambience with a view of the lovely little outdoor garden. Excellent service and friendly staff. Each dish is beautifully presented and served. Assorted tempura was our favourite amongst all the dishes we’ve ordered for the night. Our only disappointment was when we were informed that the gold sashimi and miso toothfish weren’t available. Prices and portion comparison is more like high-end fine dining, each dish’s serving size was much less to our expectation given the menu prices so consider it to be quite expensive. However, good to try it out.

The service was great, there was a new person learning on the job the night we started but he did an amazing job.
The atmosphere is great, would be a great restaurant for date night. It was quite busy even though we went on a Tuesday night.
The portions for the mains were massive, I couldn't even finish my meal. But the quality was amazing. I cannot wait to return here.
