Review Bluesalt Restaurant - Coogee

I don't usually write reviews but this was the worst place my family and I have been for dinner. It probably doesn't even deserve one star. Table service was terrible. We sat there for 20 minutes before we got given a wine menu and water. By that time we had already walked to the bar and ordered first round of drinks and got our own water. Atmosphere was dull. We ordered our mains and asked for steak knives. They said they were polishing them and came back 10 minutes later and said there were none left as they were all downstairs in the other restaurant. We ate our steaks with butter knives. What an absolute joke! The staff didn't know the menu and the food was ordinary and over priced with very limited wine options. In addition the oysters we ordered were old and some were even inedible.

Breakfast was pre-organized in our booking but watch out as the price is steep for walk-up. Service and food is excellent, buffet style with juice bar and wide variety of hot and cold breakfast items. You will have to flag down a server to get a coffee.

Myself and my mother stayed in the crown hotel situated above this restaurant. We decided to have dinner there; I ordered the steak which came at a reasonable time, though was very undercooked and I was forced to send it back. They were kind enough to make a new one and gave us a free bowl of chips and refills of our drinks. I received the steak very over cooked but chose not to send it back again. My mother’s was average. As we received free breakfast at the place due to staying at the Crown Plaza, the hotel above, we gave it another chance that next morning and were pleasantly surprised by the kind service and good food. They provided a pancake maker which I have never seen before and the kids loved that. Great for breakfast, not so much for dinner.

Ordinary food, bad service and a kitchen that closes at 9. Yes the location is fantastic, but there are so many great dining options in Coogee that this place needs a big kick in the butt to improve its ways.

So overpriced!!! Small portion and not even fancy!! I think the chef wasn't there. I don't know... Just not worth it.

Great location but average place.

Won a voucher for two including breakfast. Despite arriving around 3.30pm no room had been allocated to us - offered alternative but I requested the ocean view room that I had booked in December. Offered a voucher for a complimentary drink whilst we waited for room to be ready - but could only have house beer/wine - so we didn't use them. About an hour later room was ready. We weren't on the list for breakfast both mornings which was embarrassing standing there whilst they checked. Felt like we were treated like 2nd class citizens as we had won the voucher, despite winning it at Crowne Plaza Adelaide - Melbourne Cup event. Needless to say won't be dashing back and to top it all they ran out of Coopers Pale Ale!!!!

Stayed here for 3 days over Christmas. Had Christmas Day lunch here. The seafood variety was excellent but was very disappointed with the hot meat section. The meat was very dry. We still had a great day. You can have a bucket of ice delivered to your room at no cost?. To have a bowl of melted ice cream delivered to your room a service charge of $4.50. Work that out? The other thing that was odd, they still charge a penalty rate for public holidays?

Walking through the entrance doors the scent in the foyer is absolutely divine, and then you are greeted by the most friendly and caring staff. I stated in a standard room, simple and very easy to relax in, noise level very low, heard next to no outside traffic and very comfortable bedsThe big buffet breakfast was delicious, great coffee and once again top quality staff and service.

Accommodation was good. Happy with room, very comfortable bed. Meeting venue also was generally good, Airconditioning did fluctuate between cooking us and freezing us. The biggest disappointment was the service at the restaurant. I think those on duty did the best they could but were obviously understaffe d. Waiting an hour for first glass of wine, & then 2 hours for main course is appalling. I was ready to excuse 1 bad night, but it was repeated the next night . This obviously the regular poor service provided. I don't think our meeting will be there next year!!

We just left after a 3 night stay and thoroughly enjoyed ever second of it. The room was very spacious, clean and well appointed. The view from our corner room looked out over the beach and suburb of Coogee, this hotel in blessed in location, it really is a stunning view. The pool was heated which is a delight especially when a chilly sea breeze kicks in. The food quality was fantastic and all the staff were courteous and helpful. Of particular mention we loved the Concierge/Doorman. Your first impression of a hotel often comes from when you first step foot out of the car at the entrance and during check-in, he made us settled and feel very welcomed. Love this hotel and its location.

The seafood buffet which included beautiful fresh hot and cold seafood dishes and beautiful array of desserts which included all champagne white/red wines was well worth $150..also the 9pm fireworks from the rooftop with a beautiful friends. Will definitely think about doing it again 2017 NYE...

Beautiful scent in foyer. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful views. Rooms quite dated. Bathrooms way too small. Can not move in there at all. Shower in bath and it’s a very thin bath with a shower curtain. Yucko

The lovely welcome from all the staff, the beautiful scent of the foyer to the bars and restaurant I couldn’t fault,, Our room and the view was fabulous, the bathroom was very dated but not a problem. Thanks for the wine and chocolates it made my birthday very special. Look forward to coming back in the warmer weather..

Excellent customer service by the check in staff, a surprise upgrade and an amazing room. Couldn’t fault a thing!

Poor service ..kitchen is the reason the restaurant is empty. They actually served up a green oyster and reassured us it was ok!!!!

My 20 months old son and I stayed here for 4nights, was worth the money and we got a big room so my son was running around in the room. All the staff were friendly! We loved staying there. Definitely coming back again!

Great location excellent buffet, staff top-notch!?!

My family stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a layover for 2 nights before flying to New Zealand. After 7 days in New Zealand, we came back to stay for 5 more nights before going back home. Fantastic hotel with a fantastic location. Nice and friendly staff. Housekeeping are very friendly and accommodating. Top on my list is that, they have a nice and clean gym. That is very important to me and my family. Thank you to the Crowne Plaza for the fantastic vacation and experience.

I recently stayed here for our company's conference. I truly enjoyed it because it is so closed to the beach & other restaurants (i.e. Coogee Bay & the Pavillion). The staff are very accomodating & nice. I think I will stay here again but ask for an ocean view room, which Ididn't get this time around because they were booked out.

The service at the crown plaza was extremely good my daughters wedding was an absolutely fantastic night they were helpful & efficient and extremely professional ,the food was delicious and I would highly recommend the venue to anyone for a function the rooms were great with a fantastic View our stay there was lovley see again soon.
