Review The Jungle Mexican Cantina - Coolangatta

Really nice, somewhat quirky mexican restaurant. The food is very good. The drinks list is limited, but you will find something to accompany your meal. The meals are good portions and reasonably priced. The staff are great, friendly and helpful. They made sure we were warm enough with gas heaters keeping at the right temp. Other nice touches included that the side plates came out warm ready for sharing of the food. The half chicken was sensational.

It's amazing a place can last 37 years with the same owner. However when the quality of the food and service is this high, it's no wonder the business is still going strong! Great Food Great Service Great location If you want Mexican food on the Gold Coast.... Look no further!!

Wonderful food, great flavours. The Salad that came with the enchiladas was amazing too. Definitely will be back. Great service, lovely atmosphere.

Incredible food- this is what Mexican should taste like! Most flavour, service taste and portions I've had in many years can't speak higher of The Jungle

Went there for lunch on a Sunday - they'd only just opened for the day around 12:30. Settled in for great food and a relaxed atmosphere. Outdoors but undercover, so it felt spacious during Covid restrictions of masks & check-ins.

The food is always excellent at The Jungle and the owner and staff are awesome. Always a delight to dine out there.

The service here was 10 out of 10 the staff were very attentive and we got our food very quickly. The meals on the other hand were probably the worst Mexican I have ever had... extremely bland with no taste and the sauce was very watery. The decor could do with an update the chairs all had rips in them.

The ONLY Mexican worth paying for! I holiday at Cooly once a year and my meal here is one of the highlights. As ever, food and service are excellent. This time, I had a nachos and the Sonora. Beef was tender and sauce was outstanding with fresh garlic & coriander. Jungle Juice to wash it down is a win.

My advice is to get a side of chipotle sauce.

Best Mexican in Coolangatta, food is always of the same quality- delicious!!! The jungle juice is a great twist on a traditional sangria. BYO also makes it a perfect choice for a large group celebration.

The Jungle has been around for several years plus some and this shows in the look of the place the staff although friendly their working attire was inappropriate and needs a proper uniform etc

Possibly the most unflavoured Mexican food I have ever experienced - beef had been cooked to moist but the flavour was gone the beans hacked out of a catering can with not much added to bring life to the taste

I ordered a full size nacho I think it was $29 the dish arrived lack lustre - the flattest nacho missing corn chips - cheese - salsa I had to add side dishes of jalapeño - and avocado adding an extra cost to this already basic meal

I would image most people could create a better version at home using old El Paso from Coles

This place needs to jump up to 2016 and get some love back into the food and pride in the presentation of the staff and Resturant

was surprised by how good this place actually was. I was insulted at the prices when I first looked at the menu, but it was actually quite delicious.

Outstanding!. This restaurant is the whole package; great good prices, lovely spot and décor and excellent service. It's not hard to see why; the manager runs the place like a machine and does his best to keep everybody happy. He made sure our young children didn't have to wait to long and the food was awesome! I'm going back for my birthday; a new favourite

Ordinary. Expecting a really tasty meal based on the reputation of this place. Maybe they do well with majority of tourists but we were disappointed. Food was bland and fairly tasteless. Good sized serves and staff fine.

Slow service, pretty plain food.. We were there on mother's day and it wasn't that busy but the service was really slow.
We are both ordered vegetarian options and it was mostly raw chopped veges with not much flavour or heat. The waiter didn't ask us how hot we liked it so we were thinking that they really need hot sauce on the tables.

Enchiladas here are amazing! Best Mexican around!

Very disappointing. Male waiter very rude. Food bland and resembled an Old El Paso Mexican kit. Seafood taco was inedible. It looked like glue! Was expecting some fresh fish given the location. Couldn't finish the meal.

Our first time for Mexican, food was Awesome! Service....... Well a lot to be desired. The staff seemed to want to be anywhere else but there.

Service, Consistency and Price in the Jungle. Whilst this is not the only Mexican around, it takes a pleasant detour from the chains like Montezuma.

This place has been around for a long time (20+ years I am told) and serves the locals more than the tourists it would appear. That says a lot considering its location on a major seaside tourist strip.

On a quiet night you will find it full while the majority of the proliferation of chains and other restaurants along the strip remain sparsely populated or even empty. Surely this speaks for itself.

The service is good, we love the food and there is plenty of it. BYO for your advantage as much as theirs with a bottle shop only a hundred yards away.

Our feed was 4 adults to busting with a doggy bag left over, corkage for 2 and soft drinks for 2 @ $120. This was the third visit for me and my Wife and the second for the grown up daughters - we all love it.

I was surprised to see it missing from the urbanspoon catalogue which probably supports the theory that this is a locals feeding trough. I just had to add it and make comment.

I think most people will be happy with the choice.
