Review Radio Cairo - Cremorne

This has become my favourite restaurant in Mosman. We ordered the Cajun blackened barramundi and the Moroccan lamb. The barramundi was seasoned so perfectly and charred just right to make the skin crispy, the potatoes were insane and perfectly complimented the fish. That flavour of the Moroccan lamb was like nothing I’ve ever tasted before, it was just delightful, loved the tomato salsa that they had as well and the hummus was the perfect addition to the dish. We then got the Mint tea ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was so rich with flavour but without the mint overpowering everything, the syrup was just the right amount of sweetness and mixed perfectly with those basil seeds. Also the rose petals were such a nice garnish and were edible! Overall this was such a wonderful experience, very excited to try more dishes on their menu!

We came here for our team dinner, and boy was I shocked at how delicious the food here was. My first time eating African food, the flavours just hit you, and it has the right about spice! The crocodile wings, popcorn shrimp and the lamb were the highlights of our tasting menu! But a strong mention for the barramundi and ling and clam curry. The restaurant has a perfect atmosphere as well, and some nice tunes have been played throughout the night!

This is an excellent restaurant. We couldn't get there till 6.45 so were a bit worried that they said we had to be out in an hour, but it proved no problem because the service was so prompt and attentive. The dishes were all very tasty and very well cooked. The menu has hints of Africa, southern USA and all sorts of other places. The staff were mainly Asian, the customers Caucasian, the film playing on the TV Indian, the music Western... this was the best restaurant by far for us on our Sydney trip
Paul Irrianto
Really delicious food with a taste of Egypt, mixed with Africa and Middle East. Our favourite food of the night is the pork ribs, as it's so tender and with the spur/tangy sauce it made the pork ribs even more flavourful. We also got the steak, which was okay, for our liking it was a little too well done. The soft shell crab was flavourful, we would have better if the serving was a little more. As after a few bites it was finish. Overall the experience in radio Cairo was good as the food was well cooked

Lovely staff, attentive and cool with additions along the way. The food is excellent; great ingredients freshly prepared in the open kitchen (sitting in view of the kitchen is actually fun here.) The atmosphere is friendly and not at all pretentious
David Brown
Tasty food choice, nice atmosphere, good piped music and friendly service. Food a bit pricey but worth it.

Disappointing… got two large mains, two small shares and a salad between me and my partner and we left hungry. Large shares are actually a small size main. Food was tasty and service good however at $140 this meal was poor value for money.

So, there's a rule not to eat at places that do food from more than 1 country. Radio Cairo does that, and the results are consistently affable. All our choices were quite well made, with good ingredients and service as snappy and friendly as a restaurant emerging from a deadly pandemic. There's choices to please everyone. You won't learn much about food from all around middle East and Africa, which somehow now includes Mexico and the west Indies. But you will eat well prepared food, that will fill you, please you and enjoy a place that will generally satisfy you and your guests.

3 Vegans were very pleasantly surprised The Afro fries & Roti wrap vegan style were absolutely amazing !! Madras curry & Pulse of Africa Dhal were just delicious - back pallet of cumin & fenugreek - coupled with a delightful Vegan Pinot Noir from France Dessert was treacle infused tapioca pearls with lashings of coconut Creme. Food = 4.9/5 Ambience = 4.9/5 Value for $ = 4.9/5 Service 4/5 - would definitely recommend this as a gorgeous place for dinner

My family (splintered though we are) and several of my friends are regulars here and all who have been love it. It can be a wee bit noisy and it's not a cheap and cheerful place but the food is damn good. Service is fantastic even on busy nights. Highlights (for me) are the Jamaican pork ribs. Best I have ever had. Anywhere. And that's a big call coming from a South African.

Love this restaurant. Great owners and staff, amazing food, first class service, entertaining and lively, happy and efficient. Have to go for dinner every time I’m in Sydney. Wishing you a super happy 25th birthday, you’re awesome

It is a great place to eat. The food and service are excellent. I have eaten there many times and the food is always consistent.
Wanda Sturdy
Great atmosphere and the staff are so helpful not only with the service but very good with there recommendations of items from menu. The food was excellent , can not fault it .

One word: sensational! Been coming to this place for many many years, staff are always friendly and very accomodating, atmosphere is great and food is DELICIOUS as well as being fantastic value for money. Winner on all accounts. Recommend the banquet for a group of friends. Always our favourite restaurant for my husband and I.
Paul Heywood
Excellent service, beautiful food that tastes great and some desserts to die for. A reputation that has been earned and maintained for a very long time.
Kirsty LS Mitchell
Good food but poorly trained and bad service. Staff could barely speak English and bought the wrong drink 3 times. Were rudely asked for our table back.
Lover Of Good Food
An old favourite we hadn’t visited in a few years and it’s still outstanding. Lovely atmosphere, good service and excellent food. Can’t recommend enough and it won’t be so long between visits next time.

I hoped it was true but when thrice you get the weakest excuses as to why you aren't able to eat at their restaurant you begin to get pretty angry. Previously id walk in with a Caucasian gf with no problems . But laat 3 times walking in with an asian gf caused quite a problem . Last week couldn't even take one of the 10 spare TABLES as we couldn't handle the customers present. Personally having worked in hospitality for more than a decade having 20 tables between 4 staff isnt too hard. You can probably take another couple witj no issue.

I have been to Radio Cairo on a number of occasions- amazing food!!! Could eat there every day! However I was there with a friend on Saturday night and we both got the impression that they were doing us a huge favour for allowing us to be there! Their service was poor with a waitress who seriously had attitude issues and no experience! This was seriously disappointing particularly at the end when we had decided that they did not deserve a tip but they still asked us for one?!?

Radio Cairo is one of those places where you will always be very satisfied, the food is great, can highly recommend the Moroccan lamb, the beef, the vegetarian curry and of course the afro fries. The staff are very friendly, even though it is always busy, and the bar is very comprehensive. We usually order takeaway from here but enjoy the ambience of the restaurant every now and then.

Stung by excessive $16.50 corkage and Sunday surcharge. Was told that the charges are indicated on the door and my responsibility to check. Well, they are not on the door. The signage is placed on the glass windows 7 foot above ground level - not in most people's line of sight or peripheral vision. The staff had two opportunities to inform me or check that I was aware of both charges and did not. The food was satisfactory. Won't be returning.

I think this is a fantastic place to socialise. They do great cocktails and the place is interestingly decorated. The menu is also interesting with a lot of diversity. However, I thought the food was a bit disappointing. We ordered the Hikkaduwa ‘devilled’ baby octopus curry with turmeric rice, Aunt Betty's West Indian fried chicken, Afro fries, South African lamb sosaties, Jamaican in New York BBQd jerk pork ribs and the Buzzard and Sweet Potaty Curry. My favourite was the octopus curry which I would recommend. The other dishes were good but I was expecting them to be a bit more special.
Different still delicious! Came across this place while we were wandering for food in Cremorne. The ambience was great and the service was good too. We got settled within five minutes. We asked for recommendations and found ourselves stuffed with food till the end. Loved their chicken curry and the quesadillas.
Service - 4/5
Taste - 4/5
Ambience - 4/5
Value for Money - 4/5
Interesting, exotic menu, however below average delivery. The idea of the restaurant is very interesting. Radio Cairo serves exotic cuisines from all over the world. The problems is that if you have ever tasted these dishes in their original form or prepared by a good chef, the meals in Radio Cairo seem to be below average. They are not as tasty, not as balanced and sometimes even far from what they should taste or look like due to sloppiness or lack of experience of the chefs. I wondered why Radio Cairo had such a good rating, but after having dinner there I figured out that it is likely because most of the dishes sound exotic and are new to many Australians. If you are reasonably familiar with world cuisines and can recognize the menu items, you will be most likely disappointed. This is not a restaurant I would go back to.

Radio Cairo sounded to me like it could be one of thos new fusion restaurants that Sydney is a bit fond of these days (I was just at the Turkish-Mexican mash-up at Pazaar Food Collective recently). And there is a definite charm (and contemporary feeling) to the owner of the restaurant, Srian Perera, introducing himself on the menu as of ‘Sri Lankan (Wijeyekoon), English (Martin), Irish (Kennedy), Scottish (Anderson), German Jewish (De Worms), and Portuguese (Perera) descent’.
Laura Cohen
Incredible place! I can't believe it was my first time eating here last night - the food, atmosphere and people are amazing. Definitely going in my books as one of my favourites - the atmosphere and food itself is incredible, and you can see it made right behind you. We ordered the eggplant pomegranate dip with papadums which is honestly one of my favourite dishes ever! The flavours combined were exquisite and I find myself constantly craving it now even now! We then shared two mains - morrocan spiced lamb and beef rump and potato curry. INCREDIBLE. Honestly some of the tastiest and most beautifully spiced meats I have ever had, and the curry is the type of curry I absolutely adore. This place is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone!!
Ruby L
The service here is the worse experience in a restaurant I have ever had. We prebooked a table well in advance for my birthday celebrations only to find on arrival it had been given away to a group. This was right on opening. We were escorted near the noisy bar/ busy thoroughfare where there was a draft, and well away from the window, and when this problem was raised the staff very extremely rude and hostile, and we were told , 'if you don't like it you can leave, we don't care'. would never recommend this place, we felt so uncomfortable and amazed by how rude they were, we ended up going elsewhere.

I come from the city of food and restaurants, Melbourne. But boy! Wish we had a Radio Cairo in Melbourne, too!
Whatever we ordered came with great surprises in taste and flavor.
Top place to dine!

I wish I lived nearer. This restaurant has a bright bar like vibe with delicious food.

We make a trip here as regularly as we can. It's an event. I love the Afro fries, the lamb sosaties and the juju slippers. A melting pot of flavours!

Be prepared it gets noisy but it adds to the vibe.
Leon
Radio Cairo is one of the rare gems in Sydney. The food is generally tasty and flavourful.

I ordered chicken wings and the wings were cooked twice - making it extra flavourful and addictive. This is a MUST eat dish.

The grilled snapper came with a refreshing salad. The snapper was a bit too salty and overdone though. I would certainly return to try another mains.
Marine Prouvost
Super yummy my partner and I love going there for new year eve , birthday, valentine day or just because we love it so mutch we always want to order everything !
Helen Macpherson
My wife and I wanted a place to eat that was easily accessible via public transport and had an interesting menu .Radio Cairo met both these requirements. From the moment we were so warmly greeted upon arrival until the time we departed some 4 hours later the experience was fantastic. The choice of beer from cottage brewers was great. All of the staff were pleasant and very efficient. We arrived quite early because we had time to kill whilst waiting for our children so it was interesting watching the crowd grow and to see how the staff coped. The place was busy by the time we ordered but all of our meals were served at the same time which is a feat in itself with 6 people all ordering. The mains were delicious and the desert possibly even nicer. All up we spent under $300 with some drinks thrown in as well.Cannot recommend the place highly enough
Babak Mohaghegh
Very disappointing! The banquet food portion was not enough at all! We all left there hungry while we paid $55 (including $5.5 BYO surcharge). They forced us to take banquet option as we booked a big table! Such a silly!
The quality of food was average, but the value for mony was terrible as like as their service and hospitality!
Kathy Nowruzi
The food was delicious but not enough. We were 8adults and 3kids and they told us just because you booked, you have to get our banquet menu, $45 per person!!! we asked to order different food but they told us you have to pay at least $35 per person!!! Also they charged $5.5 per person for BYO and %10 surcharge for service so it ended up $55 per person and believe me that was not enough food. They are just thinking about how to get money and client is worthless for them. In between I tried to say all of this to one of staffs but she just said sorry.
Shahrouz Mohaghegh
Does not worth the money. The internal decoration was poorly designed l, the food was mediocre and the portions for banquet menu which charged us $55 PP(including the surcharge and BYO) was not enough at all.
Oh my god.. How have I missed coming here all my life?!

Thank god I finally got the chance to come here, even though it was quite a drive for me (I live in the Eastern Suburbs) it was well worth the trip, and definitely am keen to go back.

I tried the set menu with a group of about 7 people - and we all were very glad we did as we got to try so many of the great menu items, that are pretty much the chef's selections. Every single dish was mouthwatering, interesting and exciting. It's a great blend between Sri Lankan, African and Caribbean - which is such a unique blend a well.

The night was definitely a memorable one - order their set menu, and be taken on an amazing journey you'll never forget!
The Critic
This place has a really cool vibe and food to suit.
It is a fusion of american, indian and jamacan.
I really enjoyed the ribs as they were sweet and spicy, has entre the meatballs were delish, and it had a great range of cocktails and wasnt to pricy
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Approach this place as if you’re having dinner at the home of a well-travelled Auntie. Your Auntie has painted the walls too brightly because she’s a yellow person (from her time in Africa) and clutters them with knickknacks gathered on her travels. Her place is packed to the brim with furniture because she loves to entertain, so you’d do well to expect to find yourself perched on a high stool, when you’d really prefer a chair. And walking to and from your chair feels slightly treacherous along the slippery thoroughfare between her bar and kitchen. Auntie’s menus are always exotic, featuring a hodgepodge of influences from her travels to Africa, the Caribbean, the Indian subcontinent and Southern Americas. The Ugandan Nile Perch and Prawn ‘Molee’ ($25.65) sees her launch into a story about the magical cure turmeric has been on her rheumatoid arthritis. She’s also fond of nigella seeds, using them to dress up her ‘Raita’ Salad ($6.85) of cucumber and yoghurt, tarted up a garnish of red onion. To be frank, Auntie ain’t big on presentation...

Awesome south east asian and african fusion food, Each item on their menu is tastefully cooked and bursts with flavours. Our favorite are the Lamb, Seafood curries and Afro fries, A meal at Radio Cairo is an absolute delight. The staff is very friendly. Only downside is not kid friendly i.e. no high chair.

Food: 4.0
Ambience: 4.0
Service: 4.0
VFM: 3.8

Wanted to get here for so long that time and it was worth the wait. Every dish amazing. The lamb dish was a true winner. I would come back over the bridge again
Gin'n'Blonde On The Beaches
Love love love Radio Cairo. Busy night no booking and the super friendly and attentive staff not only did their best to fit us in but made the whole experience that much more fun and enjoyable with their humour. We had the beef slipper and a chicken and sweet potato curry - both were divine. Followed by the best Creme brûlée I've had. Definitely a new favourite.
Peter
Ordinary. Best to give it a miss - 4 of us went there last night - two of the meals were very good and two very disappointing.
We took a bottle of wine along and were charged $24.20 corkage - their call to be so opportunistic and our call to never go back
Mlync12345
Great all round experience. From the staff to the food to the fittout this place delivers! Tiger prawns were an absolute winner! Thanks guys.

This the weirdest restaurant menu Ive seen, in fact the whole experience of dining at RC is surprising. The beer list is different, the food is different. This is a restaurant to drive across town for. I don't quite know how to describe it - Its bustling, cosy, popular, a bit chaotic, noisy. Its also brilliant. The food in theory has african origins but I suspect its rather more eclectic and global than that. Have a look at the menu above and try to work out what you'd have - my suggestion is everything! I haven't had a mediocre dish or a mediocre evening at Cairo, its seriously different. The dishes aren't fancy or overworked, they are sort of comfort food from another culture - with global appeal.
The beer list includes bottles from every subcontinent - Honestly this place is seriously good.
Mrs Brown
Disappointing. Just got back from what was meant to be a special night out . We ordered four meals and despite asking for one twice it didn't arrive until everybody else had finished. Not good enough .That meant we had to take it as a takeaway to the movies. On top of that we spent $160 for four of us. The portions at radio Cairo seem to be shrinking over the years. We won't be back.

Just got home from a lovely evening at Radio Cairo. This restaurant's food was delicious; each dish on the menu is unique- I've never come across any of these dishes at any of the restaurants I've been to before.
For entree I had the Dwaaba and Jungle Bread. The Dwaaba is now my new favourite cocktail, a mix of honey/lemon/lime and spirits. I've ordered a few over priced cocktails lately that I have not enjoyed any of them, but this one was sweet but not sickly. The jungle bread was amazing! This entree was a bargain at just $13.95.
My main was the Buzzard and Sweet Potato Curry, again delicious. But it's quite a small serve so you need to get a few side dishes. The Cuban Juju Sirloin Slippers were great but the Lamb Shanks were way too spicey for my liking.
Danine_sydney
Really cool place, great food, off the beaten track. If you are over the traditional Thai/Italian/Modern Australian, try this: Jamaican, African, Moroccan, Cuban, Indian... and various other influences... From my perspective, this is a welcome distraction compared to the usual stuff. The atmosphere is casual yet edgy, the service can be a little stressed at times and the music is actually really cool. This restaurant is patronised by locals, movies goers, families, a really good mix. Go there for the food, you will eat things you've never tasted before and you will go around the world in just one meal. I really like the fact that there is a story of passionate people who've travelled lots behind this.
See.Taste.Do
It is difficult to single out Radio Cairo’s food as either Caribean or Cuban or Sri Lankan or African or Moroccan. It really is a mesh of cuisines from different regions. The dining experience at Radio Cairo is just different and unlike any other place you will experience in Sydney.
Life Of A Travel Czar
Now Radio Cairo is amazing, it’s this hip Moroccan/Jamaican restaurant in Cremorne. It’s an absolute hoot with the locals and offers the perfect sandwich between a busy day in the office and a riveting movie night.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
Just as well we booked - it was busy - and just as well we went - it was excellent. The Roti Wrap was one large roti wrapped around a vegetarian filling of potato, pumpkin and various other adornments in a flavoursome but not overly spicy combination. The tomato salsa on top added some moistness - not that it was particularly needed. The Nile perch and prawns curry was amazing. So delicate and yet so full of flavour and taste. It was (kind of) like a very mild green curry - except that it had a combination of lime and coconut milk in the curry base. We both really enjoyed this dish. When you see the word "Buzzard" on
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Arriving at a restaurant that gives SBS World Movies a run for its money, I admit I expected a train wreck. After all, the number of cuisines presented by a restaurant is often inversely proportional to the quality that any of them are delivered at. A few South African Lamb Sosaties ($4.25/each) marinated in Madras spices and brown sugar; ...and some Cajun Popcorn ($14.65) dipped in spicy apricot sauce, later I cracked a grin. Sure, nine countries in one meal feels a bit like flicking through Trip Advisor , but I only encountered one failure. It wasn’t the cocktail and cheese bread combination, Dwaaba and Jungle Bread ($12.95) , united by a thread of honey. Nor was it the BBQ’d Jerk Pork Ribs ($24.75) , scaled back to a single rack by well-deserved popularity. Not that I was complaining – more space for Afro Fries ($8.45) and... ...fragrant African Mint Tea Cream ($8.50) . They even do decent fusion – the Indi-Caribbean ‘Num Num’ Roti Wrap ($13.75) teams potato and onion samb

David. Great restaurant but a pain to
Book a table as there is no online or booking agents facility.
Other than that you just have to keep phoning until someone answers!
Orange_tree
Great night. The banquet menu at Radio Cairo was impressively varied and tasty. I felt the portions were adequate for the number of dishes. In fact, we struggled to finish the food. Highlights were the jerk pork ribs, eggplant dip, lamb sosaties and the addictive afro fries. We had an awesome night, thanks in large part to the friendly staff who looked after our group well. They had no problem accomodating some dietary restrictions which we appreciated. The joint was packed when we left about 8.30pm so definitely book for weekends.
Ken-smith1
Very disappointing. This used to be one of our restaurants of choice but not any more. We won't be back. The lamb skewers were burnt, the patties were hard and the goat was all grissel or bone.
Nick Morris
Horrible food, service and atmosphere. Started by having an option of 3 weird tables. Asked strangely if we want to drink our own wine...they are BYO but don't seem to like you bringing your own wine..?? Said the Corkage was maybe $4.40...had to ask if it actually was that much?

Dish 1, described as:
NEGOMBO HARLMASSA
Crispy fried W.A. whitebait with sweet hot sauce & roast garlic mayonnaise

Came out as:
Plainly fried whitebait served with sweet chili sauce and bottle mayo

Rest of the meal was average at best, dry cous cous, pork knuckle special was a stand out but by then the meal was ruined by a restaurant that clearly doesn't care.
Phoebe
Very Disappointing.... I have been here twice and will never return, I do not understand what all the hype is about! All the dishes are overpriced, tiny servings and nothing particularly special.
Kat
Expensive and Stingy!. I went here because of the Urban Spoon reviews. We booked a table on a busy night and they were very accommodating. It was squishy but that's fine.

We had a group of 5 and we all left really hungry despite dropping over $150 there. The portions are tiny! I mean SO SMALL yet so expensive?! I ordered some popcorn shrimp - the serving was very small, yet cost me over $16?! I also ordered the orange and date salad as a side - it was like half an orange, maybe half a sliced date and a couple of slivers of almonds for almost $6. I could not believe it when it came out. There is NO EXCUSE to be that cheap with your customers! What a total disappointment.

No, we will definitely NOT be going back there.

However - the Creme Brulee was yummy but for over $12 a serving I would expect it to be!!!
Danny S
Flavour, flavour and some more flavour. Good service and atmosphere.
We had the ribs and slow cooked lamb shanks and both were incredible. They were also GENEROUS servings (even for 2 men). The drink menu is impressive and the Cajun popcorn/Afro Fries and understated. Will be back but will B sure to book in advance!
KT
Friendly people and good food.

Radio Cairo magic is the consistency: the food is always fantastic, the specials always great, friendly staff.. This place is one of our top favourites: tasty food and great atmosphere! Highly recommended +++
Dinnerbysarah
Excellent. Wonderful food and service. Always a bit crazy and fun. I've been going here on and off for 12 years and it's always been great, particularly great pre-movie option. The hardest part is trying to decide what to eat!
Elizacrowley
Enjoyed the food but not other aspects. The menu was good, especially as it had several vegetarian options. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Noise level (exacerbated by loud music) caused us to leave before desert. Tables are far too small.
Adrian
Categorically the best ribs in Sydney, and it's not even a rib joint!
Taxi_rankin
Comments for MIni Bondi. In response to Miss Mini Bondi.......Thanks so much for your feedback. We always genuinely regard feedback and reviews on our Restaurant.
However I would just like to reply yo your comments, I am the restaurant Manager there and as I explained on the evening there was a mix up and you should have been asked if you had wanted dessert before the bill was brought to you. The apologies that I offered on the evening are still true now, we like all our customers to have an enjoyable experience.
However I did offer to get desserts and for you to stay at your table until you were satisfied. You declined and then asked me for the bill.
We do have two seating's on the weekend evenings. This is because we are a very popular busy restaurant, before we did this customers would have to queue outside the restaurant until there was a table we thought that by offering timed seating's we could try and cut out the wait time for patrons.
Again i apologise that your evening was not as expected
Mimi Bondi
Nice food but very noisy place with rude service.

We were on time but it seems they are more focused on getting as many customers in (2 sittings 6.30 & 8.30pm) than their customers.

Our meals were served really late because the kitchen was too busy, which was fine... We were understanding until...

The waitress turned up with the bill without us asking & when we said we wanted to order dessert (no waiter ever came our way to offer), she said we had to leave by 8.15pm (by then it was 8.10pm) & didn't seem to care it was their fault we had to eat so late.

Management said sorry but did nothing about it...! They were quick to take our credit card though
.
We left feeling rather offended & I would not return or recommend this restaurant because of this.
Anna-Lee Bridgstock
Best, most favourite in Sydney. My favourite restaurant. Always consistent (for the last 10 years!). Always super busy, brilliant - staff are excellent. BYO and good price. It's brilliant. Honestly. So great.
Kristin
This restaurant is so good. I went for a birthday dinner recently and everything from the atmosphere to the food and staff is amazing. Great place for a banquet with a group of friends or family or a bite to eat before heading over to the Orpheum. It is BYO but their wine list is long, varied and affordable.
Adrian
Great food, great vibe!. In short, absolutely awesome. The food was incredibly good with many different flavour combinations with perfect portion sizes. The ambience was vibrant with great funk music and friendly relaxed staff. In general a very relaxed place with a cool atmosphere and great food. I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled after this really positive experience.

We had the piri piri prawns, the sirloin strips and the snapper and all were awesome! Just the right amount of flavours. For dessert we had the Vanilla lanka and arabic coffee which rounded out a great meal.
HLindholm
Absolutely NOT recommended. Beyond disappointed! Being a local I have been quite a few times to this restaurant, although the service has been a bit up and down over the years, last night resembled something out of a comedy. Our table were served (not at all) by 2 waitresses and 1 waiter. After having cut through the clutter of the waiters private conversation, we managed to order an extra bowl of cous cous. It never arrived. When we pointed it out to the waiter (?) he said we wouldn't be charged. Yet, it was on the bill. It took us 15 minutes to get the attention so that we could order dessert and equally long in order to even get to ask for the bill. The food was very average but the service - far below average. I'm still in chock. And it was not cheap. If you want a good night, with good food and reasonable service - go somewhere else.
Julia
Great food and an extensive beer menu.. Can't go past the Afro fries and the ribs :)
Gigi
Is BYO wine but not beer. Great food and different from anything you'd usually find. Beautiful food, especially if you like spices and curries.
Jcull
Expensive. I would agree that this place makes great food however it is highly over priced for the small portion sizes you are served....for the cost of the meal we paid for 2, we could have eaten across the road at the great papaya thai, paid half the amount we did and left with very full (and satisfied) bellies!
however service is quiet good (if not even abit too quick!). make sure to book in advance - and request a table away from the large sliding door.
Ohiamsofull
Some of the dishes are very unique but the whole menu is outrageously overpriced. I've been three times and I've felt ripped off each time. I won't be back.
TASc
Cosy, rustic, and flavoursome. The missus and I have been here twice (before seeing a movie at the Orpheum) and both times we've enjoyed it. overall.

There is a very chilled and relaxed vibe, which although is nice for casual dining, it affected the service, which we found a little too relaxed. It's nice to see staff have a close relationship with their regulars, but it seemed to impact on their attention given to the other diners, so we found it a bit of a struggle to get the attention of the staff, but not to the point where it annoyed us.

The food however was very tasty. We especially enjoyed the starter of potatoes with aioli, and the lamb shank. Both times they had varied and unique specials on the board too.

Ambience is nice and cosy, but not too crowded, and we actually enjoyed dining at the bar, although that may not be for everyone.

Makes one want to venture back to Africa to sample the vast array of national dishes on their home soil. Great buzzy atmosphere topped with a stellar menu with enough variety to have you eating there again and again.
NT101
Something different. I have been hear a lot of times and I love it. Everyone I have introduced feels the same. It is a bit of a meat fest but fabulous. The lamb shank, beef slippers and currys are tasty.
Paul English
Excellent food with strong exotic flavours. Don't miss the mint ice cream, it's brilliant.
Lauren Amos
African inspired. Great food, different, interesting, and original.
