My family (splintered though we are) and several of my friends are regulars here and all who have been love it. It can be a wee bit noisy and it's not a cheap and cheerful place but the food is damn good. Service is fantastic even on busy nights.
Highlights (for me) are the Jamaican pork ribs. Best I have ever had. Anywhere. And that's a big call coming from a South African.
Love this restaurant. Great owners and staff, amazing food, first class service, entertaining and lively, happy and efficient. Have to go for dinner every time I’m in Sydney. Wishing you a super happy 25th birthday, you’re awesome
An old favourite we hadn’t visited in a few years and it’s still outstanding. Lovely atmosphere, good service and excellent food. Can’t recommend enough and it won’t be so long between visits next time.
Radio Cairo is one of those places where you will always be very satisfied, the food is great, can highly recommend the Moroccan lamb, the beef, the vegetarian curry and of course the afro fries. The staff are very friendly, even though it is always busy, and the bar is very comprehensive. We usually order takeaway from here but enjoy the ambience of the restaurant every now and then.
Different still delicious! Came across this place while we were wandering for food in Cremorne. The ambience was great and the service was good too. We got settled within five minutes. We asked for recommendations and found ourselves stuffed with food till the end. Loved their chicken curry and the quesadillas.
Service - 4/5
Taste - 4/5
Ambience - 4/5
Value for Money - 4/5
Interesting, exotic menu, however below average delivery. The idea of the restaurant is very interesting. Radio Cairo serves exotic cuisines from all over the world. The problems is that if you have ever tasted these dishes in their original form or prepared by a good chef, the meals in Radio Cairo seem to be below average. They are not as tasty, not as balanced and sometimes even far from what they should taste or look like due to sloppiness or lack of experience of the chefs. I wondered why Radio Cairo had such a good rating, but after having dinner there I figured out that it is likely because most of the dishes sound exotic and are new to many Australians. If you are reasonably familiar with world cuisines and can recognize the menu items, you will be most likely disappointed. This is not a restaurant I would go back to.
Radio Cairo sounded to me like it could be one of thos new fusion restaurants that Sydney is a bit fond of these days (I was just at the Turkish-Mexican mash-up at Pazaar Food Collective recently). And there is a definite charm (and contemporary feeling) to the owner of the restaurant, Srian Perera, introducing himself on the menu as of ‘Sri Lankan (Wijeyekoon), English (Martin), Irish (Kennedy), Scottish (Anderson), German Jewish (De Worms), and Portuguese (Perera) descent’.
Incredible place! I can't believe it was my first time eating here last night - the food, atmosphere and people are amazing. Definitely going in my books as one of my favourites - the atmosphere and food itself is incredible, and you can see it made right behind you. We ordered the eggplant pomegranate dip with papadums which is honestly one of my favourite dishes ever! The flavours combined were exquisite and I find myself constantly craving it now even now! We then shared two mains - morrocan spiced lamb and beef rump and potato curry. INCREDIBLE. Honestly some of the tastiest and most beautifully spiced meats I have ever had, and the curry is the type of curry I absolutely adore. This place is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone!!
I come from the city of food and restaurants, Melbourne. But boy! Wish we had a Radio Cairo in Melbourne, too!
Whatever we ordered came with great surprises in taste and flavor.
Top place to dine!
I wish I lived nearer. This restaurant has a bright bar like vibe with delicious food.
We make a trip here as regularly as we can. It's an event. I love the Afro fries, the lamb sosaties and the juju slippers. A melting pot of flavours!
Be prepared it gets noisy but it adds to the vibe.
Super yummy my partner and I love going there for new year eve , birthday, valentine day or just because we love it so mutch we always want to order everything !
My wife and I wanted a place to eat that was easily accessible via public transport and had an interesting menu .Radio Cairo met both these requirements. From the moment we were so warmly greeted upon arrival until the time we departed some 4 hours later the experience was fantastic. The choice of beer from cottage brewers was great. All of the staff were pleasant and very efficient. We arrived quite early because we had time to kill whilst waiting for our children so it was interesting watching the crowd grow and to see how the staff coped. The place was busy by the time we ordered but all of our meals were served at the same time which is a feat in itself with 6 people all ordering. The mains were delicious and the desert possibly even nicer. All up we spent under $300 with some drinks thrown in as well.Cannot recommend the place highly enough
This has become my favourite restaurant in Mosman. We ordered the Cajun blackened barramundi and the Moroccan lamb. The barramundi was seasoned so perfectly and charred just right to make the skin crispy, the potatoes were insane and perfectly complimented the fish. That flavour of the Moroccan lamb was like nothing I’ve ever tasted before, it was just delightful, loved the tomato salsa that they had as well and the hummus was the perfect addition to the dish.
We then got the Mint tea ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was so rich with flavour but without the mint overpowering everything, the syrup was just the right amount of sweetness and mixed perfectly with those basil seeds. Also the rose petals were such a nice garnish and were edible! Overall this was such a wonderful experience, very excited to try more dishes on their menu!
We came here for our team dinner, and boy was I shocked at how delicious the food here was. My first time eating African food, the flavours just hit you, and it has the right about spice!
The crocodile wings, popcorn shrimp and the lamb were the highlights of our tasting menu! But a strong mention for the barramundi and ling and clam curry.
The restaurant has a perfect atmosphere as well, and some nice tunes have been played throughout the night!
This is an excellent restaurant. We couldn't get there till 6.45 so were a bit worried that they said we had to be out in an hour, but it proved no problem because the service was so prompt and attentive. The dishes were all very tasty and very well cooked. The menu has hints of Africa, southern USA and all sorts of other places. The staff were mainly Asian, the customers Caucasian, the film playing on the TV Indian, the music Western... this was the best restaurant by far for us on our Sydney trip
Really delicious food with a taste of Egypt, mixed with Africa and Middle East. Our favourite food of the night is the pork ribs, as it's so tender and with the spur/tangy sauce it made the pork ribs even more flavourful. We also got the steak, which was okay, for our liking it was a little too well done.
The soft shell crab was flavourful, we would have better if the serving was a little more. As after a few bites it was finish.
Overall the experience in radio Cairo was good as the food was well cooked
Lovely staff, attentive and cool with additions along the way. The food is excellent; great ingredients freshly prepared in the open kitchen (sitting in view of the kitchen is actually fun here.) The atmosphere is friendly and not at all pretentious
Tasty food choice, nice atmosphere, good piped music and friendly service. Food a bit pricey but worth it.
So, there's a rule not to eat at places that do food from more than 1 country. Radio Cairo does that, and the results are consistently affable. All our choices were quite well made, with good ingredients and service as snappy and friendly as a restaurant emerging from a deadly pandemic. There's choices to please everyone. You won't learn much about food from all around middle East and Africa, which somehow now includes Mexico and the west Indies. But you will eat well prepared food, that will fill you, please you and enjoy a place that will generally satisfy you and your guests.
