Very good, fresh sushi. Pick off the train or order what you want. Good selection of drinks too. Spotless! Attentive staff and well priced.
I have visited every single Sushi Train restaurants in NSW, and this is the best of them all.
As far as I know, it is the only location that consistently serves great quality, reasonably priced otoro -- two pieces nigiri for $8 (used to be $8 a piece, if I remember correctly).
In comparison, from time to time, Edomae Sushi (Burwood & Regent Place) and Kyo Sushi (Wentworth Point) both offer otoro at a higher price ($10 a piece), and the quality is no different to their chutoro and less fatty than desired.
My greater point is that the quality of other dishes is as good as its otoro.
Portion sizes (such as salmon belly) are generally larger than other locations, and I believe there is a special aburi curry salmon nigiri that is not available elsewhere.
In terms of service, even when a plate of sushi is on the conveyor belt, if you place an order for say, aburi nigiri, the chef will make it fresh, which other locations might not follow (such as Sushi Train Dee Why).
As soon as you sit down, the waiter will ask what you would like to drink, elsewhere it may be that you need to ask for yourself (such as Sushi Train Bondi Beach).
Great to see a traditional sushi train still operating. Fast service, high turnover of diners so not somewhere to go for a long visit. However, if you're looking for a quick meal before a film at the Orpheum, this is the place to go. Also offer takeaway from the train too.
