Review Turka - Crows Nest

Great atmosphere and good food. Most of the dishes are defined for sharing so you might want to hold back on getting that extra bread basket ;) We had: - Smoked Red Capsicum: it was a bit bitter for my taste - Beef Brisket: loved this one. beef was so tender. The rice pilaf was very filling. - Island Rocket Salad: yum but i kind of more dressing. Will come again and try their lunch.

Best Turkish cuisine I've had since ottoman cuisine closed in Sydney. The Turkish coffee is fragrant and strong (a good start), the Turkish delight tasted very authentic as well. The lunch set $29 each, was unbeatable value. The bread basket is huge and the breads are so tasty, I loved the spicy capsicum and the hummus the most, the green olive teppanade has good flavours but very strong in taste. The mains get better, the char grilled chicken is full of flavour and very juicy, the falafel is the best I can remember eating in recent years, it's succulent in the inside and perfectly crispy on the outsid (without tasting oily at all). I loved the "meatballs" (they looked a lot more like rissoles to me) the most, and I generally don't like eating meat of any kind. The meatballs were super moist and had nice crisp texture to it, and it paired perfectly with the rice. Definately coming back

The food here is just fantastic! Whenever I find myself in Crows Nest, I always make time to visit this place. The dishes are so tasty and the baklava is easily the best in Australia! The atmosphere is also very nice. I highly recommend this Turkish cafe/restaurant if you are looking for great flavours!

One of the best if not the best Turkish restaurant i have been to. Serving portions are pretty generous, the manager is always very friendly and accommodating and the service is usually pretty quick. Overall a pretty good dine in restaurant to try out Turkish cuisine.
Met Pasha
The best turkish cafe that I have ever been in Sydney with outdoor and indoor seats. I ordered mini turkish breakfast which took me beck to my trip to Turkey. My meal was delicious and service was good(abit slow but it was a busy day so all good).

Poor customer service. We had to call for the servers as they were too busy talking and preoccupied with the register. Beef brisket was their best dish. The meat balls were all raw on the inside.

We’ve walked past this place many times and finally stopped to dine there. Food was generously portioned, quick to serve and delicious. Staff is pleasant and attentive.

Great food. The best falafel roll in 40 yrs lol. Last time I had one like that was in Turkey in the late 70s

Fantastic, tasty, and authentic food in generous servings, attentive and super friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and general good vibes. The owner is a true gentleman and great to chat to over a raki or two! Food highlights include the honey haloumi and the lamb backstrap, which are both divine, and be sure to leave room for ice cream at the end of your meal because it is HEAVEN. A great place to spend a fun, social evening with mates. Highly recommended. As a local, this is a wonderful addition to the Crows Nest scene.

Good honest Turkish food. We lived in Istanbul for the past 4 years and can make the comparison. Kofte was amazing as was the izgara tavuk. Service was good and the vibe was good. Keep up the good work Alex

Venue: Nice layout, got that Turkish vibe. A great outdoor area, covered and plenty of seating - also has heating.

Service: attentive, more so when the second staff member came on board.

Food/drinks: coffee was good surprisingly - the Turkish tea was a winner also.
The food itself, though presented very nicely, lacked some flavour. The simit bread went rock hard pretty much right away.
Portion size didn’t equal how much you were paying unfortunately.

Overall, probably wouldn’t go out of my way for this place.
Keeping Up With Pepsmeena
would have been better off putting hot milk in a cup than the ‘cappuccino’ they gave as it lacked any form of flavour. it took 25 minutes for a salad, and had no dressing.

Ate here on Friday night and enjoyed everything we ordered. The dips were excellent and we're served with a very generous amount of bread, something rarely seen these days.

The mezzes were all excellent as was the service, will definitely return, good food service and value

We came here on a quiet Sunday night and ordered a set of 5 dips (the capsicum dip was my favourite), falafel, pulled lamb and chicken casserole. The falafels were great but nothing special about the other two dishes. We got the kanafeh for dessert which was warm and cheesy. The waitress was very nice and friendly. I’ve also been here for breakfast - it’s $25pp and honestly you’re just paying for the experience. The condiments they give aren’t amazing but it’s the overwhelming variety of things on the board that gives it the wow factor. The scrambled eggs were borderline tasteless unfortunately...

Crows Nest is an incredibly underrated area. Within a hub of beautiful cafes and restaurants lies Turka. This establishment has an enormous space, elegant decor and gorgeous menu items breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The baked eggs with chorizo are my favourite and don’t forget to try a Turkish coffee!
3.5/5

Came here on a busy Sunday afternoon with 8 people, we got seated outside next to the heater. Even being seated outside, we were not neglected, the waitress came over to check we were alright many times, she was friendly and helpful.

We ordered a trio dip to share, then ordered individual items on the menu for ourselves. Really enjoyed the dips - especially the spinach and feta.

The portions of the lunch rolls (wraps) , served with chips and tomato sauce, were huge. One of our friends ordered calamari and chicken lentil salad, both came with large portion of ice berg lettuce salad. The lentil salad had very little lentil in there (like one spoonful), which we found a bit misleading if it is 'Anatolia Lentil Salad' on the menu.

I got the Izgara Kofte plate, but the chargrilled chicken plate was served instead, they were happy to rectify the order and my food came out shortly after that. The chargrilled Kofte were really really good, smoky with burst of flavours.

Might come for dinner next time we are around the area.

You can't forget a place like Turka! Serving massive boards of hot and cold meze, I definitely felt like I had been to Turkey with their Journey to Turkey Tasting Menu ($55 per person).

Gorgeous interior, open planning and great music, this café had a really inviting vibe to it. The staff were also super friendly and were kind enough to make a mocktail for me off the cuff!

In terms of food, I feasted on an assortment of colourful dips and cold meze. Great range of choice and enough of a taste to tease the palette while transporting me to Turkey. Also really liked the choice of garlic bread or Turkish bread to have with the dips.

Of the two boards, I enjoyed the hot meze slightly better. Prawns were succulent and sweet, falafels excited me with a vibrant green greeting me when I cut into them, and the lamb was lovely too.

Overall, I had a wonderful time here and was lucky enough to experience some beloved Turkish dishes. Would highly recommend the set menus if you are unfamiliar with Turkish flavours and are looking to try a little of everything.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

My thanks to Turka for the invite!

The food here is outstanding. Stopped by for breakfast & got Kayseri Sucuklu Yumurta (fried eggs with Turkish Chorizo. Don't let the simplicity of the dish fool you, everything on there were great. The eggs were perfectly fried yet yolk remained googy. Chorizo thinly sliced, a sprinkle of paprika gave it a hint of spice. The best thing were the little toasts on the side, milky & buttery bread, toasted just right for crispiness. The Turkish Apple tea was the perfect thing to cleanser after that. Must come back for a dinner.

Ordered the mince lamb gozleme, got some wrap instead! When I raised it, the staff was like “too bad” and shrugged it off. Wouldn’t come back here again.

Small but beautiful outlet with courteous staff and good service (4/5), good menue(4/5), quality food (4/5), desent Value for money (3/5) and descent ambience (3/5).Overall (4/5) Nice place for a quick bite, breakfast or tea/coffee ☺
Dina
The place is okay. We went during the day for lunch, it was pretty hot but there is no fan or air conditioner.. the food is average.. it’s a bit bland and the taste is not authentic. The breads are not homemade and taken from a pack.

This is a nice place for weekend breakfast. Food and bread is good. Portion is very big. Our 4 people ordered 2 big breakfasts, and they required 2 more orders as each person has to order 1, so we ordered another 2 toasts...and we could not finish them all. My husband and friends love Turkish coffee too. Might go there again when in big group.

Came here for breakfast and had the big turkish breakfast with additional gozleme. I love these types of breakfasts. There's so much variety. Quality is excellent and portion is generous. The scrambled eggs are really fluffy and the spinach and cheese gozleme is really good. Sit outdoors in the sun. I highly recommend having breakfast here.

Had dinner here on a Sunday night. Quality of food is exactly the same as breakfast. Love the food here. Get the chefs menu. Comes with cold and hot mezze. I'm really picky with my meats. all the meats were tender. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here.

Transport yourself to Turkey at this lively restaurant.

Nestled on a popular corner street in the heart of Crows Nest is Turka, serving traditional classic Turkish dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ve eaten Turkish food occasionally before (and went to Istanbul a good few years ago) so I was keen to try something a bit different and try the Turkish breakfast menu.

When dining for two, the big Turkish breakfast platter is perfect, and plenty of food to feast your hungry eyes on.

Starting with the platter, there is an array of little trays of fresh and homemade ingredients, I didn’t know where to start! An assortment (4) of traditional Greek cheeses, olives, jam, honey, yoghurt, seasonal fresh fruit, dried figs and apricots, walnuts, tomatoes, cucumbers, tahini & grape molasses and Turkish pistachio halva. My favourites from the platter was:
🧀🍯 homemade cream cheese with honey (the cream ‘log’ in the photo) which was very creamy and I loved the sweetness from the honey;
🍇Sesame tahini pastries & grape molasses - the sweet and savoury combination worked very well, tahini reminds me of peanut butter and therefore mixed with some grape molasses worked extremely well on the taste buds
💚Turkish pistachio halva - this was a dessert and a pleasant surprise! Halva is a middle eastern sweet made with sesame flour and honey.

The big breakfast also comes served with traditional Turkish scrambled eggs (rumelia menemen) with tomatoes, capsicum and parsley and a basket of toasted, buttered bread. The eggs were fluffy and not too creamy.

We also ordered a side of traditional gozleme filled with spinach and ricotta which was one of the best I’ve eaten, the pastry was delicate and flakey and not oily at all.

We additionally tried a simit which is a traditional Turkish bagel with sesame seeds. Turka bake their bagels fresh daily, I loved breaking into the bagel, the bread was so lovely and soft with a slight, crispy outside.

For drinks we ordered a traditional Turkish tea (I loved discovering this tea in Istanbul), turmeric latte and an iced latte (for the caffeine fix, it was perfect). When we first arrived we were offered still or sparkling water, it was a nice pick-me-up to start with some sparkling.

This was a giant breakfast feast (fit for a king and queen!) and we tried our best to eat everything but were defeated. I loved how there was such a selection of fresh ingredients on the platter including fresh fruit. And a big plus that it was an entirely vegetarian breakfast.

We were well attended by the friendly staff, thank you to Veronika and her colleague for looking after us.

I am very keen to come back for the lunch and dinner menu next time.

Note: I dined as a guest of Turka, all views and opinions expressed above are my own.

Occupying the corner where Willoughby Road meets the Pacific Highway, Turka is a newly opened cafe, bar and restaurant this year, which is immensely popular with the locals. Known for its traditional Turkish big breakfast, Turka also offers an incredible communal dining experience for dinner. Think boards full of freshly made dips, cold and hot meze, flavourful salads and the most delicious haloumi cheese drizzled with golden honey sauce.

After authentic Turkish food in Sydney? Turka Cafe Meze Bar is the place for you! HUGE menu with great variety. Can’t choose ? Then the chefs selection feast is for you. Put your trust into the chefs hands and let them cook a selection of tasty eats they think will win you over. You will not be disappointed!!

I’ve only had Turkish food a handful of times and if there’s one thing I remember, it’s that it’s always a feast! And that’s the vibe we’re getting at Turka, which is filled diners with tables filled to the brim with delicious share plates. It’s a cosy Turkish cafe/meze bar located on the busy corner of Pacific Highway and Willoughby Road. It’s a menu that’s designed for sharing, and though we’re just two tonight, we’re keen to try a bit of everything so we’ve gotten ourself an array of dips and cold meze as starters. There’s more than ten dishes in total on our platter, and that combined with the basket of bread would easily make a satisfying dinner for two.

One sunny Sunday morning, Matt and I venture out to Crows Nest to Turka, a Turkish restaurant. It's been some time since I've had a Turkish breakfast and I am looking forward to a feast. . As I enter, I notice a big table of people. They look like a big gathering of friends who are enjoying their food. I look at their food in envy and sit down.

Loved this place... we went here for my birthday dinner... and this was my first time trying Turkish cuisine. I loved it...it was full of flavors and well balanced. We tried one hot and one cold dish with Turkish wine... you should definitely try their wines ... really good. Would definitely go here again. Cheers ✌🏼
Food: awesome
Service: good
Ambiance: good
Price : worth it

You should try this! I took my wife here on her birthday. This place is pleasantly good. The food tasted great. If you go there, I recommend the slow cooked lamb, it’s the best I’ve had outside of home. Their house wines were actually good, which came up as a surprise and I wasn’t expecting it since wine isn’t what Turkey is known for (or at least I don’t know of). Food comes in with good quantity and prices are very reasonable. Ambience is warm and cozy, they also offer complimentary Turkish tea. It’s worth a visit.

Fantastic time had here due to a combination of a wonderful setting, warm hospitality and delicious food. Set along Willoughby Road, it was buzzing with people inside and was completely full when we arrived. Diner had forgone the al fresco dining due to it being so cold.

The greeting was warm and as soon as a table was free we were immediately seated and water brought to the table. We ordered some Turkish Lemonade to drink as was curious to see what it would taste like and it was a fruity version of the clear lemonade you usually get.

Started off with Homemade Dips With Toasted Bread. We had the Dip Trio which included three dips. Our choices were Hummus, Pancar Ezme (creamy beetroot), and Kuru Domates Esmezi (sundried tomatoes). They were so addictive to eat you scoff them down all afternoon! The warm breads are delicious and combined with the creamy flavoursome dips, you’re on a winner here. The server pointed out that Cacik (greek yoghurt is served with chargrill dishes so didn’t need to order with the dips plate is a great tip so not to double up)

Continued on with the main dishes of Izgara Kofte (chargrilled homemade lamb & beef meat balls) which were juicy and tasted wonderful. It had an accompaniment of bulgur pilav, salad, pickles, and the aforementioned cacik dip. We also had the Turka Famous Falafel Plate. It was like the kofte plate except with falafels. Crunchy delightful vegetarian bites.

Finished our meal with a Dessert Of The Day. It was a freshly baked Knafeh topped with a home made ice cream of pistachio, dried figs, and apricot. The crisp noodle like exterior envelops the gooey cheese filling. It was a perfect end!

We were invited to this place by Ompty Media and it was just amazing!
They had a dinner platter which was comprised of three courses which were just as good as the last and super filling that we didn't even have room to have the full sized last course.
These guys are definitely leaders in food and serve up some mean dishes.
People in the restaurant were asking the waitress what we were having because it looked so good but unfortunately they weren't able to order it but what a good excuse it will be for them to come back!
The service was really good and the food, exceptional.
Definitely one to try.
It's located on the corner of the Willoughby Road and Pacific Highway so is in a nice little location.
Would most definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

The dining scene in Crows Nest has continued to improve over the last couple of years, so much so that it could possibly be considered the dining hub of the Northern Suburbs. You will find a great deal of variety in the area and many quality restaurants to choose from. On this occasion we are visiting Turka – a Turkish restaurant which occupies a prime corner location. Kitted out to theme with Turkish lamps and furnishings. Described a mezze bar, it is essentially a modern Turkish bar and restaurant selling breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant aims to bring the flavours and delights of Turkish cuisine with a modern twist to Australia.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
You will find Turka right on the corner of the highway and Willoughby Rd – the hub of the Crows Nest eateries. There’s a heated outdoor seating area but we choose a table inside. What a warm and inviting place this is – cosy, charming furnishings, Turkish lamps and friendly staff!. The menu offers homemade dips and starters, hot and cold meze items, char-grilled meats and a range of salads. It all sounds so delicious we opt for the Chef’s Selection Tasting menu, which has a bit of everything. A nice glass of Turkish white and red wine starts us on our culinary journey.

Really loved their dessert of the day. The vermicelli was baked perfectly with ghee and the not so sweet ice cream with top of it blended in so well. Loved their chicken chilly and lamb meatballs too. Would recommend and visit again soon!

We have never had turkish food before, this place was a pleasant surprise. Situated on a corner, there is indoor and outdoor dining. It is a bit hard to find parking around the place though. The food was great. Everything was pretty spot on and very flavoursome.

Dip Trio – choice of 3 home made dips, we had Hummus (chickpea & tahini), Pancar Ezme (creamy beetroot) & Kuru Domates Ezmesi (sundried tomatoes), the tomato dip was delicious! it also came with toasted bread.

Kalamar Tava (Salt & Pepper Calamari) – this had the lightest batter and it was fried perfectly, this was the best calamari we have ever had, well its up there with the top. This was served with a salad and tartar sauce.

Izgara Kofte (Homemade Chargrilled Lamb & Beef Meatballs) – we have never had lamb and beef combined together in meatballs, let us tell you, this is genius! super juicy and tender, the flavours were awesome. This was served with a cacik dip, bulgar pilav (rice), bread, pickels and a salad.

Izgara Tavuk Sis (Turka Chargrilled Chicken Marinated with Turkish Spices & Herbs) – the chicken for us, was a bit on the dry side, so this was not as enjoyable. This was served with a cacik dip, bulgar pilav (rice), bread, pickels and a salad.

Gozleme Spinach & Feta- cannot go wong with a gozleme! This was as good as any.

We would definately come back again and again, just for those lamb/beef meatballs and the calamari!

They also do a coffee menu and a cocktail menu.
Famishedduo
The chefs selection only $39 per person (minimum two people) is such a great option to try a little bit of everything. The selection will consist of dips, cold Meze, hot Meze, chargrilled and salads. The best value as you get so much variety foods. Turka Cafe only uses the best ingredients of the highest quality which makes all the difference with the taste of their dishes.

There is plenty of seating both inside or outside (with heating for the outdoor seats for those cold nights). Very family friendly environment. The staff are friendly and very attentive and helpful in suggesting the perfect drink to try along with what to order. We were recommended to try the chefs selection which was the best thing! Tasting a little bit of everything on the menu. The staff even took the time to explain each dish as it arrived.

We started with a warm cup of wine! Yes you heard right warm wine and it was absolutely delicious, with sugar around the rim of the cup and the warm wine, it made listening to the rain over an amazing spread that much more enjoyable.

We were able to try some of the amazing items off the menu including the dips Hummus, Cacik (traditional garlic yoghurt), Zeytin Ezme (green olives and feta cheese), Pancar Ezme (Creamy beetroot), Kuru Domates Ezmesl (sundried tomatoes), Kozlenmis Kirmizi Biber (smoked red capsicum). Even when the bread is covered in sauce ,the bread remains crispy. Perfectly toasted.

Cold Meze includes the Annemin Sarimaskli Kabagi (Mums garlic courgettes) , Parmak yaprak sarma (stuffed vine leaves with rice and herbs) , ege zeytintagli taze fasulye (Aegean green beans - the classic dish), artichoke hearts, smoked capsicums, house pickles.

Hot Meze - Izmir prawns- peeled and cooked in a beautiful sauce, Kayseri Turkish chorizo was very tasty, Cyprus honey halloumi- honestly you can never go wrong with halloumi, Bodrum calamari which was fresh, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside with the salt and pepper batter, Istanbul style mussels, Iskenderun falafels made with high grade chickpeas and fresh to order.

From the Chargrill section we had the Turka chicken was juicy and flavoured well, the sultans lamb was cooked perfectly, it was tender, the flavour was just right, these are the perfect winter warmer. The fresh and healthy salads we tried included the Divans Spinach Beetroot Salad。

Located along Willoughby Road, this modern Turkish Kitchen & Bar offers many exciting food and drink.
It was my first visit and I was very impressed with this venue the moment I walked in.
I love the beautiful and luxurious decor and the relaxing ambience.
They have indoor and outdoor seating area and we picked outdoor area to enjoy our meals.
I started with the coffee. It’s amazing, I love it (from Grinders). I’ll try their Turkish Tea and Turkish Coffee next time as both looked so good.
Then I shared the ‘Breakfast Platter for Two’ with the others. Wow! Talking about having breakfast like royalty, this platter will be your choice.
The portion was huge and definitely would satisfy 2 persons or more!
Every single element is bang on and created with wonderful flavours.
The highlights for me was the Fried eggs with Turkish Chorizo, Turkish Menemen, Turkish Cheese and Turkish Pistachio Halva (divine!)
Overall, I had an amazing dining experience. Highly recommend.
Great ambience and service. We stopped by for coffees and baklava and were very pleasantly surprised. The menu looks authentic and had a good range of dishes - either mezze or main courses. Highly recommended is the Baklava and ice cream. Served warm it is one of the tastiest baklavas that I've eaten.

Turka is a delicious gem tucked neatly away off the main street in Crows Nest. Each mouthful lives up to Turkey’s reputation as a stalwart of Mediterranean epicurean delight! Warm-hearted service, generous portions packed with flavour and a cute setting left us planning our next visit before the meal was done. Thank you chefs Julio and Mabelle for an unforgettable night in paradise.
