Review Smooth Thai - Crows Nest

Xanadu Ti Tree
Good Thai food and very reasonable prices. Great curry puffs with no meat in them! Will be coming back.

Adequate, lunch special - not the most flavoured thai in town, had the chicken penang curry - could have done with a few more vegetables (a variety would have been nice or just more beans!) to bulk it up, was fresh chicken but over all the dish was lacking a strong penang flavour, was a good thick consistency, really a 3.5 star - could try harder.

I've had lunch here several times now and can't really think of anything to suggest improvement. From the look of it, the place may seem fancy and pricey, but it's not. It's a well-decorated place with a modern feel that provides friendly service, value-for-money food and one of the best Thai iced tea I've had in Sydney. There are plenty of options to pick from from the $10 lunch menu and in general. While all the dishes I've tried have been delicious, I was particularly impressed with the roasted pork with crispy skin. What I also like about this place is the prompt and flexible service: they get the job done fast and you are left to pick your own seat to do your own things, etc. Definitely one of my go-to lunch places from work.

Love the weekday $10 lunch service at this place. Great Panang curry.

Smooth is one of those perfect little secret treasures. The family who run the restaurant consistently put in that extra bit of effort which makes every customer feel like an honoured guest. The food is prepared superbly and presented with a style which one would expect of a much more expensive restaurant. The service may not be the most polished, but it has the friendliness one expects of a family operated restaurant. I have eaten there four times and had a similarly consistent experience each time. Other times I have ordered take-away to be delivered, and found the same care taken with the food.

Received the wrong dish and when politely alerted to it, proceeded to argue and yell claiming that I was the one who ordered wrong dish. I confirmed menulog order and details. Woman then proceeds to try and tell me that the dish in front of me is infact the dish I ordered. When questioned as to why the ingredients were totally different, she outright started making up lies and again blaming me. Then pretended to not know what the issue was. Went in the bin as it was an allergy dish for me. No refund or replacement. Don't waste your time. 10 other Thai restaurants in the area that are way better. Shame as they are always quiet and the closest.

The second time we’ve eaten here but won’t be returning. Our meals were served with chili despite all of us asking for no chili (except the guy that got the curry). Reviewing the menu, no mention of chili. Their service isn’t necessarily slow, but you never see the wait staff to get their attention.

Have been to Smooth Thai a few times. It’s a relaxed restaurant with lovely staff and good ambience. The food is really good too and good value as well. Cheers

I love this place! The staff are always friendly with a genuine smile every time I go in there. My favorite dish is the Tom Yum Noodle Soup (vegetarian, meat or seafood) love, love, love! Always tastes wonderful, full of flavor and just the right amount of spiciness and sourness to it and a generous amount of noodles.

Random selection having to be in area for another matter but turned out to be most surprising. Thai is a generally a reliable cuisine and Smooth Thai I think does as pretty well.
Well balanced flavours in our dishes, plenty on the plates and one of the better peanut sauce's in quite some time.
Quick, tasty and filling late lunch.

Come here on occasion when I have a craving for their chicken laksa ($10) - which is more like vermicelli noodles immersed in a spicy curry, rather than an actual laksa soup.

Their serving sizes seem to have decreased recently though.

I could have flown to Thailand quicker. Usually when you order Thai is takes 10 maybe 15 minutes. I've currently been sitting here for 30 minutes and there is still no sign of food. Every time we ask we get the same answer "10 more minutes"

The service was prompt and friendly making dining there easy and simple, and the tables are large enough to pile with plenty of dishes to share. The food is reasonably priced - entrees were $7.90 each and most mains are around $14 to $16 but our larger Volcanic Chicken was still only $19.90.

Unsatisfying. Ordered the Thai staple Pad Thai with chicken. Pad Thai should not be sloppy. It should not be wet. This Pad Thai was sloppy and wet. Might have been a bad day for the stir fry chef but I won't be going back.

Nice. Very nice thai had massman beef a couple of times always delicious, meat very tender that melts in your mouth, so tender it falls off your fork. Free delivery in the area is great and fast!

Yuck! Satay chicken you could tell had been frozen, really fatty massaman curry, tasteless vegie stirfry, and tastless pad thai. Even the rice was badly cooked - not to mention the takeaway containers were only filled up 1/2 to 3/4 (scummy!)....there is much better Thai elsewhere in Crows Nest.

Yuck yuck yuck. Had takeaway from here once ordered grilled octopus....
Let me see, 3/4 of the standard takeaway box was horribly cooked rice, 1/4 octopus (about 4 pieces of baby octopus) and 1 slice of lettuce at the base of the box.
See $10 is cheap, but not for a box of badly cooked rice....
