Review Restaurant Dish - Crows Nest

Bernadette Tarkka
Absolutely delicious food. Staff are lovely. Food was served in a good time although quite busy. The only issue is the tables are a bit sticky and although I had shoes with some grip, the floor was like ice for me. Not sure if it was the shoes or the floor etc but have to be very careful walking on it until you know shoes are fine. I should have taken photos of foods. I had Vietnamese warm noodle salad with spring rolls and pork. My boyfriend had this amazing fish dish, taste no 1, and rice.

Tasty Vietnamese fare in Crows Nest. The special vermicelli was delish, especially the sugarcane 'lollipop' and Saigon rolls

This is an excellent restaurant with fantastic staff and food. I ordered and there was a missing item in the delivery, the restaurant staff knew and went out of their way to arrange a new delivery and gave me a couple of beautiful side dishes. Thank you to the restaurant staff for how professionally they managed this. We have order delivery and dined in many times and think this is one of the best restaurants in Crows Nest. Their Pho (and all of the food) is wonderful.

Ordered the vermicelli salad, too much noodles with only handful of lettuces and carrots. Not enough salad dressing neither. Pho was average too.
Michael Hui
Slightly more priceier than what I would normally paid for a pho, but nice atmosphere and food.
Joyce Qiu
Was ok - beef slightly over cooked and the crispy chicken was dry. Service was really friendly and efficient though

Was so excited for some good Vietnamese food. We ordered the banquet for 2 which is extremely expensive for Vietnamese. We waited 25 minutes between plates and had to leave so it was a total waste. Manager couldn’t have cared less and blamed it on his Viet staff.

Used to love this place because they have a seperate vegan menu and the staff are super friendly, but last time I ordered I found a piece of beef in my vegan pho and it was honestly traumatising. It’s a shame because the food is pretty good, especially the taro spring rolls. Just can’t trust a place that’s careless like this and probably preparing meals with meat in them alongside the vegan stuff.
Aimee.
I love pho offers a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes included a lot of vegan hawker food and dishes. We ordered the Maryland fried chicken pho, the signature mix beef pho and for dessert we had the chocolate lava cake with Oreo ice cream. The pho itself was slightly bland compared to other ones I’ve had. The dessert was better than the pho.

one of our favourite restaurants, attentive and friendly staff, the food is outstanding, the entrees are so good you rarely get to the mains, and such a casual place to eat you can easily run a lunch into a dinner. Byo a bonus,

Good service, pho was so-so, the broth was a bit bland compared to other dishes. The soft shell crab was good and so was the Vietnamese pancake.

Amazing amazing Vietnamese food here at I Love Pho! Honestly I was a little concerned that the menu was so long because that usually means that everything is done at a mediocre level but I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything that I tried was. In particular, the Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli Salad was a standout for me with that delectable sauce poured over a colourful bowl of chicken, noodles, bean sprouts, lettuce, carrots and cucumber. I also enjoyed the Mixed Entrée because it gave me a chance to try a little bit of everything from their entree section.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

My thanks to I Love Pho and Ompty Media for the invite.

real rating: 3.5/5
The all-in-one bowl was awesome!! You get to try a bit of everything and it’s super filling - toppings alone filled me up. The staff are friendly but there were a couple of them who didn’t pay attention at all to customers when they signalled for service.

Saw the rating and stopped by to try the food. To be honest, it is quite disappointing, I was definitely expecting more. Pho broth is bland, once you squeeze the lime in all you can feel is sour taste, nothing else. Also only four to five pieces of Wagyu beef and portion is quite small. Fried chicken is just so so, over-fried, greasy and dry. Don’t think I’ll come back again. Oh service is okay, nothing to complain. But they really need to work on the food tbh.

Went as a group of 5 for lunch on a Saturday and got a table right way.

Unfortunately, I was grossed out because my brother ordered chicken wings and one of them was uncooked. However, I ordered vermicilli salad with pork spring rolls. It tasted delicious, the spring rolls were super crispy.

I hope my experience was just a one off situation. Everyone else's meals were fine, just be cautious if you order chicken. They have vegan and gluten free options which I know is hard to find for some people.

I actually love “I Love Pho” the team here work really hard to keep the quality traditional and so zingy and flavourful. I love the bun bowl, the prawn paste wrapped around sugar cane, salt and pepper squid and of course the pho.

After eating here, all I could think about is going back to Vietnam. Maybe the most authentic and delicious Vietnamese restaurant I have been to in Sydney. Textures and flavours nailed! If you want to reminisce about your last holiday to Vietnam, do yourself a favour and have a meal here!

If you love Vietnamese food, you will love the food here at this popular Vietnamese restaurant in the centre of Crows Nest. We dined mid-week on a Tuesday evening and it was buzzing in the dining room with most tables taken which is always a good indication of the food.

We started off the night with some fresh coconut juice - loved the fact already that they were real fresh coconuts! 🥥 I must also confess we accompanied our coconuts with a glass of house prosecco which went down very well.

For starters we ordered the I Love Pho Mixed starters platter which was a perfect choice as there was a selection of all their favourites for us to sample. The selection included: prawn and pork summer rolls, spring rolls, pork sausage skewers, sugar cane prawns (this was my fave!) and crispy pork baos.

For mains we ordered a number of dishes off the menu:
‘I Love Pho’s Shaking Beef with black pepper’ - this is one of their signature dishes and it lived up to its recommendations. It is also known as ‘bo luc lac’. The cubed beef was juicy and tender and cooked in an addictively flavoursome black pepper sauce which was perfect when eaten on a bed of fluffy white jasmine rice.

‘Goi bo tai chanh’ - rare wagyu beef salad with green mango, fresh lime juice, cucumber, picked carrot and mint. I really enjoyed the fresh, crunchy vegetables and mango in the salad with the well-seasoned meat on top. A great dish for the upcoming warmer months.

‘Grilled marinated pork and spring roll vermicelli bowl’ - warm vermicelli noodles with Vietnamese mint, shredded lettuce, carrot, bean sprouts, roasted peanuts, crispy shallots and fish sauce all topped with grilled marinated pork and spring rolls. Vermicelli bowls are one of my fave must order dishes when eating Vietnamese, this one was packed with flavourful fresh, tasty vegetables and deliciously grilled pork on top. The spring rolls were really tasty as well, loved the added crunch that they added to the dish.

The staff were friendly and attentive and looked after us well during our dining experience.

I would happily come back to sample more dishes off the menu here, everything we ate was so delicious and flavoursome. Plus, I loved all of the fresh ingredients used, you could really taste it in the dishes.

Note: I dined as a guest of the venue. All views and opinions expressed above are my own.
Matt and I head to I Love Pho, a Vietnamese restaurant in Crows Nest recently. It's an overcast day and Pho is on my mind. I've been to I Love Pho a few times and am looking forward to a high quality, flavoursome lunch. I decide to sit outside on this particular day to enjoy the fresh air and also to people watch. I looked at the revamped menu which has beautiful photos that trigger all sorts of memories from my childhood. I Love Pho is a down to earth, casual eatery.

Vietnamese food holds a very special place in my heart. From bánh xèo to Bún bò Huế and Vietnamese iced coffee that gives me the caffeine jitters (worth it!), to me, this is comfort food at its finest. I Love Pho is an excellent little Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney’s lower north shore, which I can imagine is the perfect go-to for many locals in the area. Their knowledge and understanding of balanced flavours as the cornerstone of Vietnamese cuisine was excellent, as was their...

I Love Pho is one of those restaurants where we not only visit often but end up ordering in from every other month. For us this is comfort food at its best! There's usually ways a bit of a wait to get a table for dinner. Went there as a couple and several times with a bunch of friends. Will definitely post some pictures the next time we go there...

Not sure I completely agree with the rather high average rating of this place. For Vietnamese it's probably slightly better then average on the good side, but it does have the advantage of being in an area not known for Asian food. Find the selections rather generic, the service is also average, they missed one of my friend's meal, but won't admit it. When it did come the food was nice. The pho soup base is good, but could be more intense. Slightly on the pricy side too. Overall, not a bad eat if you're keen for Vietnamese on the lower North Shore.

We ordered home delivery, while it was really easy to order, they told it would be 40 minutes. After two hours, and a few phone calls later the food arrived, the driver said it was still hot, and that he had only just picked it up. Unfortunately not only was the food cold, a sauce had spilled out in the bag, making all the serviettes and chop sticks covered in sticky sauce. The restaurant was contacted and offered to pick up the food and resend it, however, having already taken two hours for the food to arrive we declined but asked for a refund, they offered 25% off the next order, they said it was impossible to refund any part of this order. We had ordered a starter platter and two main dishes. All of it had to be reheated, which, if it had tasted any good would have been somewhat acceptable, it was after all a cold evening in Sydney. However, we couldn't finish the food, it was awful, it is hard to describe but the food tasted so bad we ended up throwing most of it away. This was the worst takeaway food I have had on the lower North Shore. We will not be back despite the very generous offer of 25% off the next order.

We love Pho! Or do we?
This little joint was full of surprises. We got here quite early for dinner (5.30pm), there was 2 tables inside with people. The place inside could maybe sit around maybe 30 people, small and cosy. They also have an undercover heated area on the front with seating available, maybe fit another 20 or less.By the time it was 6.30pm, the restaurant was full, and tables were quickly filling up outside. Bookings are necessary!

We were greeted by the restaurant Manager Khanh, very welcoming and helpful with the menu. The Menu was a glossy photo filled menu, dishes were in their origin vietnamese name with an english description underneath to explain what the dish involved. We ordered a handful of our favourites to feast on.

This place served all the vietnamese favorites the traditional way. We had Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake), Chao Tom (prawn paste on sugarcane) and BBQ Duck Salad to start. Mains we had a Wagyu Beef Pho and Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (Grilled Marinated Pork & Spring Roll With Vermicelli). Everything was very authentic flavours, which works a treat together. Why change something that works right?

We even tried the vietnamese beer 333, it was very light tasting and refreshing.

They also have online booking deals and happy hour deals
Vondelicious
it’s not just Pho that they serve here. And despite the more upmarket location and ambience, the menu is equally as authentic what you would find in Vietnamese restaurants in Cabramatta. And just as extensive too. For indecisive diners (like myself), you’ll want to start with I Love Pho’s entree that comes packed with a little bit of everything, a serve size large enough to be a main for one!

You also cannot go past a simple, nourishing Pho, especially given their name. We’re expect nothing less than an amazing Pho and we were not at all disappointed by their Wagyu Beef Pho.

Since this is in our local area, we have been here a few times. The phos are reasonable in price and come out fairly quickly. The first times we came here, we thought the food was average but the atmosphere and the setting were quite nice. We brought friends here a few times too when we needed a quick meal who also thought the phos were average. Last time we came for dinner, we weren't impresed at all. The staff were quite dismissive and we were the only table to eat there except for another one and a table where the staff were eating. We thought the phos went from average to below average. Perhaps the other dishes are better but we've only tried phos here.
Anna
Heaps of vegan options here which was great to see because Crows Nest is not too with the times quite yet. We enjoyed the food and I will definitely be back. You must try the eggplant bao!!

Not really what I’d called a Vietnamese joint. More like Vietnamese for Westerners...

... with no experience of real Viet food.

I like my pho soup piping hot. Best to cook the thinly sliced beef! Didn’t get either.
Snapshots Of Food
I Love Pho is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant located in Crows Nest. You would be glad to know for every meal purchased, a portion is donated to build schools in Vietnam's regional area. We dined here on a weeknight and saw countless of takeaway orders - which comes in a pretty paper bag with the I Love Pho logo on it. You might've seen it around on Willoughby Road. I was telling my colleagues about I Love Pho and one of the girls said she loves the crispy chicken! We were tempted to try it but couldn't resist going past their spring rolls and pho (of course).

Finally a decent Vietnamese restaurant in the North shore! Impressive menu satisfying all our cravings. We had a lovely dinner here and particularly loved the spicy Bun bo hue (noodle soup) and crispy Banh Xeo pancakes filled with prawns and pork. They had the steamed baos with crispy pork belly on their specials menu but the buns were not as light and fluffy as other places I’ve visited. Besides this, I Love Pho is a great choice for Vietnamese food if you live around the area.
Foodforthebrokensoul
Came here for an early dinner. The ambience was nice. Ordered the prawn paste on sugar cane and my favourite Vietnamese noodle soup, bun bo hue. I was particularly excited because not all Vietnamese restaurants serve this noodle soup, and despite the name of the restaurant, I chose to order this instead of the pho.

Service was efficient, food arrived shortly after ordering. The entree lacked flavour on its own, the sweet chili sauce helped, but I was disappointed that the prawny flavour did not really come through.

On my first taste of the soup, it seemed flavourful. But after taking a few mouthfuls, I realised that my first impression was not accurate. Bun bo hue is usually a nice balance of salty, spicy and sour. Unfortunately, the soup was salty and light on the spice. As for the sour, I probably did not put enough lime juice in, so my bad. The soup also lacked a depth of flavour, and I think I was halfway through before I realised what was missing... The flavour from the shrimp paste is usually quite strong in the bun bo hue that I've had in the past, but it did not come through in this bowl at all. Furthermore, this dish normally comes with beef shank, meat off the pork knuckle, cha lua and blood jelly. I'm not usually a fan of blood jelly or pork so I was secretly happy. However, I was disappointed that the cha was missing, and that the beef here was basically the beef cut used for pho rather than beef shank. The bowl was also smaller than those served elsewhere.

In terms of pricing, this meal cost $25.90. The entree was overpriced, the bun bo hue pricing was reasonable. If I were to be in the neighbourhood and come again, I would play it safe and try the pho.
We were lucky enough to get invited by Ompty Media to this place.
The food was pretty good and so was the service.
The chef took the time to come out and have a chat about the background of the food which was nice.
It's located on a nice and quiet strip where you can sit back and take in your surroundings.
Cool Beans Life
Before we went to Vietnam in December 2017, I had never tried pho before. There’s no real reason why – I just always thought I wouldn’t like it. Boy, was I wrong! After having my first bowl of perfect pho in Ho Chi Min City, I was hooked! Once we were back in Sydney, I started to ask around and create my very own pho bucket list for 2018 so that I could try them all! Lucky for me, Mike from Ompty Media invited us to visit I Love Pho in Crows Nest.
Eatventures
The restaurant accommodates both an indoor dining and al fresco seating, and given the chill of the day and the nature of the dishes, we actually chose to sit outside to get the most out of the warm broth. We left our choices to the hands of our trusty waiter who made some key selections from the menu for us to try.

Crows nest local Vietnamese restaurant “I love pho” provides exceptional service and great quality food! The spring rolls here are a must try and definitely different to what you may have had from previous Vietnamese restaurants! The wagyu pho soup is light but rich in flavour. We loved the crispy Vietnamese pancake bursting with bean sprouts, chicken and prawn, the flavours are light, allowing the fish sauce to compliment the dishes perfectly! Food is prepared fresh and served quickly to customers. Customers have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The interior decor of the restaurant is bamboo and wooden themed with traditional Vietnamese photo artwork on the walls. This is coupled with Vietnamese ambient music that whisks customers away momentarily to the tropical country on a windy Sydney summer’s day for a meal.

I love Pho is not only the name of the restaurant we visited but a true statement of our feelings towards it. Situated in the heart of Crows Nest is this Gem of a Vietnamese restaurant, serving up tasty traditional cuisine. The restaurant also has a traditional aesthetic look and feel which also reflects the style of food. With bamboo lining the walls and Vietnamese themed art, it feels welcoming and genuine. The service was prompt and super friendly and our waiter was extremely charismatic. Upon looking at the menu it was nice to see this restaurant is involved with a charity that helps the children of Vietnam, with 50c from every meal going towards building schools in regional areas. It is wonderful and is inspiring to see that this restaurant gives back.

very disappointing experience. our orders were forgotton, not just my mate's, but our whole table was completely forgotton.

had a chat with a staff member and realized they actually treat ubereat orders as higher priority.

this place should have never survived
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
If you haven’t tried Vietnamese food, or if you’re already a fan, get yourself a table at this warm and friendly spot in the centre of Crows Nest. It’s very popular with the lunchtime office locals but there are plenty of tables inside or you can eat outside in the shaded dining area. The décor is suitably Vietnamese in style, with a cosy, relaxed atmosphere.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
With this Crows Nest eatery’s name referring to a particular Vietnamese dish, it’s a reasonable bet that their pho - beef noodle soup – is going to be great. So during my recent visit to this undeniably popular restaurant, I gave pho a miss in favour of trying some of the other dishes on their extensive menu.I visited for Saturday lunch, and the narrow restaurant was packed to the rafters with families, couples and bigger groups, with many of them opting to slurp beef noodle soup. Despite the crowds my table is very quickly littered with colourful Vietnamese fare, all of which was very appropriate to Sydney’s warm summery weather. I Love Pho’s Mixed Entrée ($15.50) platter is an eye-catching collection of tasty long things, running from nicely blistered Hanoi crispy spring rolls to a fresh roll filled with pork and prawn. Looking nude and pink, are two nem nuong pork skewers, and there's also a standout house-made chao tom (or as you might know it, sugarcane prawn). You’re given a trio of...
Love At First Bite
I Love Pho is a traditional Vietnamese restaurant located in the North Shore food hub area of Crows Nest. With many dishes being naturally gluten-free and vegetarian options always available, the restaurant served delicious and healthy Asian food. We came here for dinner on a weeknight and will share our experience in this post.
Coffeebrunchanddinner
Located on the popular strip of Willoughby street in Crows Nest, I love pho is your choice if you feel like Vietnamese. We went with the staffs recommendation of crispy pork boa and Vietnamese crispy duck pancake for starters. The duck pancake was light and delicious and left us excited for the mains. The main dishes really were the stand out of the night. The shaking eye fillet beef with pepper sauce was our pick with high quality meat and a great balance of flavour. The stir fry basil duck with chili was a nice way to finish what was a light and flavoursome Vietnamese experience

Came here fairly early with my girlfriend at around 5~, surprisingly it was quite empty but the ambience is pretty nice. Their rare beef pho was pretty nice and hearty, a bit salty but thats to my liking. My girlfriend got the veggie pho which was definitely not too my liking, the broth just tasted like cauliflower.
CampauieEats
Vietnamese is one of my favorite cuisine, especially pho which i tried firsthand in Vietnam myself. Their food is a bit on the pricey side with reasonable amount of serving. We ordered the soft shell crab which we find so-so, wasnt really wow-ed by it. We definitely tasted better ones. The crispy skin chicken and beef brisket pho was good though. We enjoyed the sauce of the chicken, and ate a lot of rice with it too. Great ambience inside, which completes the whole Vietnamese vibe experience.
Justin Ting
On the expensive side of pho, but it was bland and lacked all the flavour that any half decent pho should have had. Serving size was also small. Would definitely not recommend. 1.5 instead of 1 because at least the service was decent.
Marta J Tamowicz
Pho sure!! Nothing beats a well done pho on a chilly evening! The team at I love pho didnt fail to deliver on this occassion!
For starters the signature bao bun hits the spot, followed by the spicy beef, with just the right amount of spice! Food service was nice and quick. However, the beef was so fatty it claimed it had a thyroid problem!
Dee
I really enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere of I love pho. My rare beef pho was nice but a little salty, I'm comparing it to my mum's pho so may be a little bias. Overall service was fast and lovely.
Ankith Ravindran
This is a small place in crows nest. The ambience is very simple and nice. We ordered the crispy chicken noodle soup and the spicy beef noodle soup. The spicy beef noodle soup was brilliant and the broth was flavoursome. Good soup to have on a cold day. My wife had the crispy chicken noodle soup and it was very filling. She wanted some sauce with the crispy chicken and felt that was the only thing missing in the dish.
Maria
Had lunch here on a Saturday, I'm not usually a big fan of Vietnamese food, however after eating here, it has definitely change my opinion on Vietnamese food. We shared 3 entrees among the two of us: fried quail, chicken San choy bao and prawn and pork pancake... Each dish were large portions even though they were entrees. All 3 dishes were delicious! Only 1 negative feedback, one of our teacups had lipstick mark on it still as it was not washed thoroughly. We asked for a new cup and the staff apologised.

Great customer service from the staff. I'll definitely be coming back again.
Constructively Critical
I've never been disappointed dining here.
The menu may be pricey for the cuisine type but the portions are fairly big and the quality is consistently at high standards.
Love the beef pho.

FOOD TYPE
Vietnamese

FOOD QUALITY

Three of us dined on a scorching summer’s eve in Jan. To cool us down, we started with a couple of drinks: a coconut juice and a Little Creatures Pale Ale for the twins and a refreshing Peroni for me. That dispensed with, we were all feeling a little cooler. And so to the food. For entrees we choose the rice paper rolls (three rolls for $11) and the crispy Vietnamese pancake ($16). The soft rice paper rolls with chicken and herbs, contrasted nicely with the crunchy pancake filled with vegetables, tofu and bean sprouts. For mains, we decided on two dishes only, and that was a wise decision, as serving sizes are generous and the pancake especially, with it’s crispy fried outer coating is filling. We choose the sizzling beef hot plate ($23) and the Shaking Chicken ($19), plus rice at $3 a serve. The sizzling beef was lean, well cooked and finely sliced just the way we like it and came with a generous amount of fresh vegetables. The “Shaking”chicken was another winner. The chicken was plump and tender and served with garlic, butter, onion, black pepper and capsicum. The dishes were infused with those subtle, delicate and aromatic Vietnamese flavours that makes this kind of cuisine so popular in Sydney. Unfortunately there are no desserts. A sticky rice pud with lychees or mangos would have gone down well! Still what we had was all tasty and delicious and we finished it to the last mouthful.

ATMOSPHERE
Atmosphere is casual, laid back and relaxed. Tables are neatly arranged in two long rows running north to south. The walls are adorned with bamboo pipes and vintage black and white pics of the motherland. The stylish, low-hanging lanterns add to the oriental theme. When we arrived at 6.30pm, the place was fairly empty, with just a smattering of other guests. We were so focused on the food, that we hardly noticed it filling up, and by the time we left, it was full to capacity, creating an energetic and vibrant atmosphere, with all diners seeming to enjoy themselves.

SERVICE
Service was fast, polite and efficient. When we arrived, our booked table was ready and waiting for us in a cool spot at the back. Orders were promptly taken and the food came out quickly and in the correct order. The maitre d’ was especially friendly and welcoming and he made sure that we had everything we needed, including continuously refreshing our water bottle, a much needed requirement in this humid weather.

COMFORT
Chairs are firm and comfy, and the table was large enough to fit all the dishes, although it might be a squeeze with four. Last time we dined here, about four years ago, it was also in the middle of summer and I remember it being uncomfortably hot and sunny with a strong glare in our eyes. This time though, I noticed it was shadier and cooler, presumably from the awnings which they must have installed.

MENU
The menu is well laid out and easy to follow on colourful sheets enclosed in plastic laminate and bound in a sturdy wooden binder.

TOILETS
To get to the toilets you need to step out the back door and traipse along a series of rather grimy and slippery rubber mats. There are separate male and female ones. The male one had a rather dangerous low hanging wire connection to the outside air con, which meant that there was nowhere to plug in the hand dryer (see pic). In any event, those 1980s style hand dryers are next to useless, unless you are prepared to spend 20 minutes waiting for your hands to dry. And there were no hand towels. The door was pretty grotty, just like the rest of the toilet block.

ACOUSTICS
I’m not sure what it is about the acoustics, but despite the fact that it was full, we had no trouble conversing. Perhaps it was because most other diners were in small groups of two or four and all were well behaved. The high ceilings, leather-backed chairs and bamboo pipes on the wall may have helped things too.

COST
With our 25% Ent Book discount (up to max $35) we paid a modest $72 for three drinks, two starters, two mains and three serves of rice. Nothing to complain about there.

BOOKING

This place has clearly become a favourite with the locals, so booking ahead is recommended, especially for weekend dining.

PARKING/ACCESS

Parking is never too much of a problem around here. There’s the nearby Hume Street council car park, which you can access off Albany Street. Further down the road (if coming from the city or east), there’s the Crows Nest Plaza car park, where there are always plenty of spaces and never anyone to take your money at night.

SUMMARY
We had an enjoyable evening and everything went off smoothly. In the period since we were last here, I Love Pho has developed into a popular, neighbourhood eatery, with first class food, service and a lively and fun ambience. We signed up for the birthday club so we’ll be back for our free meal before the year is out. It would be nice though to see the toilets cleaned up and modernised. The website too needs a bit of an overhaul. I struggled to navigate through it. For the record, you won’t find the menu under the most obvious tab which is menus. That’s the takeaway one only. The eat-in one can be found under the “reservations” tab. Go figure!
Spooning Australia
I Love Pho is a great authentic Vietnamese restaurant on the North Shore of Sydney. People travel long distances to eat their beef pho so there is no excuses for me travelling back to Crows Nest to feast on it one day soon. Crispy Pork and the Seafood Hot Plate were my faves and oddly I loved Salt and Pepper Tofu for a change from squid. And you have to finish your meal with their Vietnamese Iced Coffee, a truly awesome drink sure to clean out the constitution in no time haha. Cảm ơn bạn cho một bữa ăn tuyệt vời.

I believe in the statement "first impressions last". Id like to begin with the service was lacking. I ordered a Pho Tai, keeping it simple and yes the food came out on time but the noodles were obviously not fresh and must have been made quite a while beforehand. Furthermore, the beef was very tough and not tender at all. However, the soup base was alright, nothing special but it didnt disappoint.

Would i come here again? Definitely not.
GobbleDok
We love pho and tried many places. I love pho seems decent place to dine, waiter standing in front of shop and encourage people to try them.
We had pho twice here. For the first time, service was good and pho was good. For the second visit, service was slow and less attentive and pho was less tasty.
Special pho had more tendon than other part of meat, at $16.90. Rare beef pho was ok, at $13.90. Only small portion of basil, lemon and reasonable amount of been shoots for two.
We visited 'mama's buoi', which is located one block away from here, they serve $25 for pho for share.
If we compare the price/service/quality, we rather choose mama's buoi.

Strolled past this place for my slowly growing hunger and had the well done beef brisket soup. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the coconut juice - it comes in an actual coconut. We were hacking the coconut meat outta that coconut, could have done us for lazy late lunch!

It's not just about the pho. This gorgeous little restaurant in Crows Nest is no one hit wonder. We enjoyed a delicious mid week meal featuring Salt & Pepper Tofu, Green Papaya Salad With Crispy Pork, Vietnamese Crispy Pancake, Stir Fried Morning Glory, Crispy Pork Belly With Steamed Kailan Vegetables, Crispy Skinned Chicken, and Seafood Hotpot. Served with steamed rice to mop up the delicious sauces.

With quality ingredients and clean flavours, every dish was a delight. The menu offers an extensive choice of appetisers, salads, meat, seafood, noodle and rice dishes, plus of course pho. What is common to all is that they are completely gluten free dishes. Great news for coeliacs and those choosing to abstain from gluten.

End your meal on a sweet note with a house made Vietnamese Iced Coffee.

I do declare that I Love Pho so I'll be back.Spooning Australia

***edited 28JAN18***

We said we would be back and so glad we did but this time for lunch! I Love Pho and so should you!

They have a lunch menu which has alternative lighter items than they have for dinner and this is appreciated when the weather is hot.

Had some refreshing drinks and the Vietnamese Iced Coffee is just as good as last time.

Recommend the I Love Pho’s Mixed Entree. You get a bit of everything and each morsel is as tasty as the one before. The Duck Banh Xeo is oh so yummy with its crisp exterior and bean sprout and duck filling. Pho Wagyu is melt in the mouth tender meat and is superior to most and silky noodles in a lovely broth. The Grilled Pork Chop With Rice & Egg should fulfil most hungry tummys!

Tried the spicy pork pho.
Its a good enough helping for the price and taste is fresh and spicy
Liked the ambience.
Crows nest has lots of options so it was nice to try this vietenamese restaurant.
Would come again to try other items

Wonderful Vietnamese restaurant located In crows nest serving an authentic menu that is fresh and flavoursome. The customer service is very friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend the duck salad and the pork belly.

Storms won't dampen my mood to try some good Pho and I had heard that 'I Love Pho" makes a decent one! Glad the drive was worth it as this is the real thing!

The restaurant had a traditional theme with Vietnamese artworks, dark walls and bamboo. It was a step up from your local Pho shop in Cabra but less pretentious than one with a funky name and even more funkier prices down the road. It was reassuring to hear all staff talk in Vietnamese and middle age which means food will be kept traditional.

The menu had a good variety of the tradional dishes ranging from rice paper rolls, steam noodles, sugar cane prawns to their speciality - Pho!

I ordered the Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef noodle soup). When the noodles came out, it didn't look anything special because there was hardly any of the semi raw beef that is the trademark of the dish. However, this was the only low light. The soup was rich and did not have too much star anise like every single Pho shop in Chatswood. The beef brisket was of a better grade than most pho shops. The beef was tender but could have done with more of it. There was a good amount of tripe, beef balls and an ingrediant many pho shops don't even bother with or cook properly - beef tendon. The texture was perfect and it was a not undercooked.

If you can get past the North Shore premium ($15), then this is a genuinely good Pho that you would find anywhere out west. Granted, the bowl was a little smaller and the beef was less, but the all important stock was bang on perfect!

Don't be deterred by the pedestrian looking dining room from the street as you will be sure to be satisfied by proper, no short cuts taken Vietnamese food. The prices in general for their dishes are good for the area you are in. Will definitely come back to try their other dishes!

I've always walked passed while it's buzzing and busy with people and finally had the opportunity to book for a dinner of two. It's bright, clean and comfortable inside with fast service.

An impressive range of dishes (an which made deciding which two mains to try rather difficult, I'm also pleased to say the quality and quantity is phenomenal and was well enjoyed!

Next time I'll be back to try the beef pho dishes which made my mouth wate absorbing the sweet aroma's from the table next to us!

It's nice to see the North Shore side being supported by wonderful places such as I Love Pho!

Great price and good food!

It was my first time eating at 'I Love Pho' And it was an experience I enjoyed. The entrées were amazing and in my opinion they were the best part of the meal. We had the salt and pepper squid and tofu. The tofu was amazing and it is a MUST have for even none tofu eaters (it really surprised me). For main I had the grilled marinated pork and spring roll with vermicelli. The pork was cooked well and with spring rolls included it was great value. I would suggest the more adventurous eaters venture away from the salad bowls as they are a bit simple.

Overall I had a great experience, large portions, reasonably priced food and great service making my eating experience that much better. Great restaurants for groups! I will be back in the near future.

Attentive service and pretty good pho. The soup was the highlight, tasting more complex than the usual, with small pieces of ginger being an interesting twist. I wish they were more careful with the preparation of their noodles though, as they were stuck together and falling to pieces.

Gotta love I love Pho. It's an institution. Reasonable prices and fast food! Rare beef Pho is my go to. The crispy crepe is also delicious. As for service, it's ok. You get what you pay for really.

Amber and I really enjoyed our dinner here. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty..
For our main course, she had the vegetable style curry. And she finished the big portion and loved it.
I had the lemongrass stir fry with marinated beef and also thought it was lovely.
The service was really good considering how busy they were even for a weeknight.
The prices are reasonable when you consider the good quality and generous portion sizes.

We did not like it. The staff was not friendly at all.
We ordered the special that involved Mango (it had a note that it was a season dish) but when we ordered the waitress did not say anything so we thought it was available. When the dish arrived there was not mango at all. The waitress should have said something before but at the end the experience was not good at all, unfortunately.

Worst flavours my mouth has ever tasted. If your looking for a nice restaurant to have a decent meal this place is not for you. small quantities and no flavour what so ever, this restaurant is definitely not for me. i ate the pho for lunch and it was so bland i had to ask for more salt, it was practically warm water, do not even get me started on the rock hard beef, it was to tough for me. i would never come back to this restaurant ever.

I love Pho too, but not from here. Serving was generous for the price but ingredients were very poor quality and flavours bland. Beef was cooked far too much for pho. Service was also very average. Much better options around so I'd go elsewhere if I were you.

Noisy, AWFUL service, expensive and just not worth it. This was a huge disappointment. We (a group of 5) initially were inside, but it was so noisy we had to shout to talk to the person next to you (And the waiters had to shout and keep asking you "What") that we asked to move outside.
Then we ordered, and it took an hour for our meals. An hour for a green mango salad, stir fry & hotpot?! Each time we asked, we were told' it's coming, just 2 mins away.
The the Wagyu green mango salad was terrible. 4 thin strips of yellow, ripe, tasteless mango, sits atop a few slices of shredded carrot and some herbs. That's the salad - It's like a condiment or decoration - not even a mouthful. And you pay $18 for this.
There are a lot of better Vietnamese in Crows nest.
Staff are not friendly, and overall the night was a huge disappointment.

This is not authentic vietnamese food in any way at all. Food is sad, bland and doesn't punch with flavours like real viet food should. Overpriced too. Much better and cheaper restaurants out here in the area that serve awesome viet cuisine.

Johnny Lobster I love the slogan: Lobster for the People I think many will agree Sydney displays an impressive selection of seafood by world standards. The true shame is that many of us locals don't enjoy seafood more often (or maybe we exploit it too much for exports, but this isn't an environmental activist blog). That is why I love the slogan of this place. Bring good, affordable lobster to the people. Everyone should enjoy the ocean delicacies Sydney's got to offer! 5:40 PM on a Monday night Lobster Roll - dill, potato, pico de gallo $20 So needless to say, I order the Lobster roll. I need to confess I've never had a lobster roll before, but I have had numerous dishes, across varying levels of sophistication, that market themselves with the term 'lobster'. Most of these (to my disappointment) contain meager portions or finely chopped crustacean you have to convince yourself its actually lobster. With the exception of going to a Chinese restaurant and ordering a whole lobster, this roll has the most generous serving of lobster I've had in a while. Mouthfuls of lobster with every bite, this roll hits the spot on a summer's day! Personally, it would have gone a little easier on the mayo, but the fresh salsa on top did well to balance out the creaminess. It's extremely filling with the potato + brioche combo. Hand Cut chips- triple cooked $3.50 (S) Thrice cooked chips! I love twice cooked chips so I had to give these a go! The verdict? hmm I think twice is the sweet spot. You really can have too much of a good thing. Fried Chicken - Hot sauce, east coast slaw $10.80 This was a no brainer for Uncle G - fried chicken and hot sauce? Hi there dinner! This plate was real value for $10.80. The delicious crunchy coating and incredibly succulent chicken is just bursting with flavour. Next time, I definitely want to try the Fried Chicken Roll. Ice cream sandwich - Brioche, sailor Jerry's spiced rum butterscotch $6.50 Two wasn't enough!!! I wasn't completely sold by the de

Pho for dinner, perfect for a chilly night. -- The Food -- Simple, neat and tidy decor Mixed Entree platter: Fresh rice paper roll, prawn paste wrapped around sugar cane, crispy spring roll, meat ball (2 halves). The fresh rice paper roll was nice and refreshing but when eaten alone, there isn't much flavour. Must dip the roll in hoisin peanut sauce. The spring rolls were nice and crispy. The sugar cane prawn was firm, flavourful and when dipped into the sweet chilli sauce, even tastier! The meat ball was average. Crispy Quail with vinaigrette Yummy. Who doesn't like deep fried quail seasoned with salt. Cooked just right. Rare beef noodle soup -- soup is flavourful Perfect for a chilly night. The standards vary with this pho. Been here multiple times, most of the time the pho is good but once in a while the soup can be quite salty & less flavourful. Overall, quite happy with the food here. Staff are quite nice and once in a while there is live music.

We had a bit of a feed tonight at a local restaurant in Crows Nest called I Love Pho. We started with a bit of bun xao for entree (about $12), after that we had Pho Tai ($12.50), which was pretty good. It's now almost 3 month since I got back, but I give it an 8/10. The chilli was delicious and the beer was cold so I can't complain. The few times I have gone out for pho in Sydney since I got back
Love Fooding Around
I Love Pho was one of those places that you always pass but never think much of it when you walk by or not curious to go inside. It's a pity those places exist because often those are the ones that are worth exploring. Crispy beef spring rolls, $9.60 There's something different and brilliant about Vietnamese spring rolls, and it's all in the wrappers. The Vietnamese use rice paper sheets (for fresh and fried spring rolls) instead of an egg based wrapper (hence the Americans calling them 'egg rolls'). It gives a different sort of crispy crunch that I love. The texture reminds me of a thinner version of prawn crackers, where it dissolves slightly when it hits the tongue. The spring roll is filled with vegetables and beef and are still warm when they arrive. The famous Vietnamese dipping sauce, nu

Never before have I ever been to a restaurant that so accurately describes me – I Love Pho ! Surprisingly for someone who loves Vietnamese pho though, I had never been to this restaurant which is just up the road from my workplace…but trust me when I say that we were so impressed with our experience that we’ve been back multiple times since! Tofu rice paper rolls, $6.20 Chicken warm rice noodle roll, $6.20 We choose to start with two light entrees – rice paper rolls and rice noodle rolls (banh cuon). The rice paper rolls were wonderfully light and refreshing, and clearly freshly rolled with crispy lettuce providing a nice crunch. The banh cuon was warm and worked well with the dipping sauce – though it was a bit plain without the sauce. Rare beef noodle soup, $11.60 I ordered a rare beef noodle soup – my go-to meal at any Vietnamese restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these noodles – the broth was rich and full of slow-cooked flavour, needing no addition of chilli

The crispy Vietnamese pancake was labelled under the chef's recommendations, and no wonder! I loved the crunch of the batter and how it was chock-full of prawns, pork and beansprouts.
PlanMB
We've always been skeptical about the place since we tend to associate dirtier places with better pho, but we were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. While the servers seemed a little confused in general, the dishes we ordered were brought out relatively quickly.
Missklicious
I love pho in Crows nest is one of those local restaurants that you know will be consistently good. Another plus is that it is open fairly late (by north shore standards) and was always a favourite after walking home from a evening of rock climbing - casual enough to walk in with chalked up gym gear and not feel like a total bogan.
Barbara Lndsy
Cheap and tasty - I heart pho. Rare beef pho - giant serving, cheap, very delicious, nice setting!

Would NEVER go back. Service was awful
my dinner (chicken) came within literally 5 minutes and looked awful and not edible. Waste of money as didnt eat
Andrewwild76
Awful. Poor food and poor service. 0/5.
Elise
Poor service but decent food. Food was good as usual but service was poor last night. The water seemed rushed, didn't smile and was not very friendly.
Beccertron
Not value for money. $18 seems pretty excessive for a single-serve dish that is mostly rice noodles, bean sprouts and lettuce. The vermicelli salad was OK, but certainly not worth the $18 price tag. Plenty of other restaurants in Crows Nest are able to offer good food at reasonable prices, and I know that from living and dining in the suburb for 5 years.

I dont love pho!. Me and my boyfriend ate at I Love Pho for the first and definitely the last time last night.
Although the service was friendly, the food was below average! The Pho, wish I guess you would consider the signature dish given the name of the restaurant was bland, tasteless and left nearly in its entirety as we paid and left the restaurant in search of other food!
JCT
Our weekly favourite. We make a trip to I love Pho once a week and it never fails to disappoint us :-)
Ttn007
The worst Pho (noodle). This Pho (noodle) is the worst of Pho (noodle) in NSW, most expensive, least quantity, never come back.
Emily
I totally love Pho!. Had a super quick Pho...tasted great and the restaurant itself is really nicely decorated, comfortable and welcoming. The Pho is really well priced and I'll definitely be back!
Ootnat
Overpriced and incorrect. We didn't get what we ordered. If you want take away, go to deli noodle next door: faster, fresher, and better value.
Chickanese
Not terrible, but won't be going back. Overpriced for what it is, but I guess you can't expect cheaper given the location.
If looking for a quick, cheap, authentic vietnamese eat - probably not here! Good atmosphere though.
Shani Kaplan
Delicious , fresh pho!
Lily_nz80
Good. Ordered takeaway and enjoyed my meal. Only thing I didn't like was that they had lightly rubbed the fresh rice paper rolls with oil on the outside. I know this prevents it from sticking and there was no oily taste but I don't like eating "healthy" fresh rolls with additional oil. The beef pho was a very large size. I got 2 portions out of that. I guess you are paying more than your average Vietnamese place. $9.60 for 3 rice paper rolls is pricey when if you eat in they serve portions of 2 which cost $6.20 so it's more pricey for takeaway per roll. Maybe they charge for all the plastic containers.
Snuffleupagus
Love. Maybe not the most authentic pho around but who cares. Perfect for when the craving hits.
Fast, clean and friendly. Plus the spicy noodle soup is the perfect winter pick me up.
Hungryfool
I love Pho. Have been there couples of times. Friendly staff, nice decor and the food is fresh & tasty

My fav dishes have to be the crispy Vietnamese pancake, spring rolls and bun bo hue ( spicy beef noodle)
Renee
Pho is real competition in terms of restaurants in the crows nest area thanks again for taking my request in chillis :) Delicious
Kenan Aldemir
Prepare to wait for your dinner for over an hour only to be told that they run out. And check your bill because they will then charge you for it. Or better, don't go if you want decent service
Millalera
I anticipated that the pho should be the speciality of this restaurant judging by its name. But the pho soup was so bland, disappointed. I gave this restaurant the second chance to try their stir fried beef with vermicelli and it didn't impress me.
Gary
The fish cake was disgusting and inedible. The appearance wasn't appetizing at all. It actually tastes like rotten meat with excessive lemon juice and fish sauce. The food is extremely pricey as well. Definitely the worst Vietnamese I've ever tried.
Xenah
Message for PHO lovers. The best Pho in town. Full Stop.
Clian23
Never, ever going back again. Frankly, inattentive service, negative pressuring atmosphere, overpriced food, in-authentic japanese.

The only positive thing of the night was the DIY rice paper rolls. That was quite filling itself.

Additionally, as a warning, the jellyfish and pork Vietnamese salad barely has a few strands of jellyfish in it.
JungleGeorgie
The fried spring rolls are my favourite of any restaurant Ive eaten at. The pho is tasty and staff are obliging when you ask to substitute items (I regularly enjoy a crispy skin chicken pho even when it's not on the menu!) I've had many of the dishes and have only been pleased. The service is good as well.
Paul Hunter
Food and service very good. Can recommend the Vietnamese pancake and caramelised fish. Will definitely return.

Tasty pho, pleasant setting

I Love Pho. One of the best, if not best Viet restaurant I have been to. The food there tastes absolutely amazing. The restaurant itself is very clean. The people inside are very nice. I have been there many times already and i still want to go back, it is truly that amazing. I would highly recommend it, if you want an authentic taste of vietnam.
Foodlover
Definitely go back. Great & very tasty foood! Our favorites are the papaya salad, "pho cuon" - it is a fresh roll wrapped by a thin rice noodle and filled with beef (or meat of ur choice) - fresh and yummy. We love vietnamese food and havnt been to any that have this dish. The main are delicious too - we had Bo Luc Lac and Duck with basil. Staff were helpful and friendly. Very nice atmosphere - there was live music. Prices are reasonable given the food quality and also the location.
Roger
Not good, tastes like RSL food. The papaya salad was great but the mains were bad.
