Not a big fan of spicy food. But thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Had one of the banquets and rolled out full and satisfied. Waitress was top notch and did a great job all night. Would definitely come back.
My favourite local take away! Always good food and very good price.

Recommend it for all of the people who loved Thai food
Beautiful food - yum, yum, delish! It's always very busy so I'm not alone in my review
Always beautiful food and lovely service. Our favorite Thai place.
Absolutely wonderful food and service was fantastic! Such a beautiful restaurant too, with a lovely atmosphere.
The best Thai food! No one makes better green curry!
Absolutely beautiful food and service. Thank you xxx
As authentic as you can get here in Australia!

Such a great late lunch, prawn pad Thai was authentic and yummy (prawns were huge), roti with peanut sauce was very good and big bag of prawn crackers. Worth the money 100%. Definitely will order again. Thank you
One of the best places to go for Thai!
Absolutely love their coconut rice!
In saying that all their food is amazing, love their curry puffs, rotti bread with satay sauce, would totally recommend to dine in or even takeaway :)
Came here for my dads birthday and we ordered massaman and Panang curries with a bunch of starters. Very “white person” ordering, but delicious nonetheless! The best part of the night was when the staff brought out three scoops of ice cream in a little bowl with candles in it and sang happy birthday to my dad with us. My parents come here pretty regularly, but still, that kinda thing doesn’t happen anymore!!! He was chuffed and had a big smile on his face. Cheers guys for making my dads birthday memorable 👏👏👏
We’ve pretty much done away with weekend cooking in our house and are all about takeaway. Particularly with all these scorching days we are staying well out of the kitchen and utilising Menulog. We tried out a new Thai place with relative success. I didn’t like the roti bread as it wasn’t as soft as it should be but my chicken pad satay was tasty enough. I tried some of the chicken cashew stir fry which was also quite satisfying. There’s a few other dishes there that I wouldn’t mind trying next time (pad honey sounds interesting) but husband wasn’t impressed enough to be a repeat customer
A quiet restaurant tucked away in a more recently forgotten area of the Croydon Main St precinct. Warmly greeted upon arrival in a restaurant that deserves more attention, with cosy decor & a wide selection of choices on the menu. As pictured, the Chicken Curry Puffs & Pad Satay with Coconut Rice were very nice; well presented & the flavour had a superb gentle kick. Above standard; will return!
Had dinner there last night to celebrate a few things with a group of friends and the staff were just fantastic. The chef kindly made us something special for the occasion. Thank you!
We've been to Thai Chaiyo a few times now and the food has never disappointed.

Excellent Thai Food at a really affordable price!!! I strongly recommend the massaman curry, as to me it was delicious!!! And the service was really good Thai Chaiyo is the kind of restaurant that I would like to come again any time.
That was satisfying ......
Thai-licious in outer Melbourne suburbia, hidden, quaint, unpretentious, pleasant service and just easily satisfying.
That's what we like about Thai food.
One of the local go-to Thai joints for our family, this place has always been pretty solid even though it's changed hands a few times. It's dropped a little a bit but it's still a reliable option for quality Thai food in the local area.
We were surprised to see that we were the only ones in the restaurant at 8:30pm on a Sunday night, the place was dead but we weren't phased.
The venue looks a little outdated with the old wooden style furniture and some random Thai inspired art work. The plates and bowls however were very nice and added a bit of colour and vibrance to the meals and the experience. Would of been terribly boring had the food been served on white plates and bowls.
For entree we ordered the curry puffs and decided to try one of the specials which was called the prawn twists which were $10. When they were brought out to our table, we were shocked to find 4 long spring roll-style pastries, we were definitely not expecting that, they did taste nice however they were not $10 worth. The curry puffs were a little soggy and not as a crispy as we would of liked either.
We then ordered the Laab Gai chicken mince salad, the garlic stir fried chicken and veggies and the mix veggie fried rice. All the main dishes were excellent and we could not fault them. All cooked well, with lots of flavour and generous serving sizes.
That last little oddity with the whole experience was the glasses that we were served our drinks in...they are the cola-cola glasses that were free giveaways from McDonald's! This was pretty strange and not very reflective of the food quality the served during the main meals!
The best Thai restaurant in the eastern suburbs. The friendly owners welcome you back so you feel like you are visiting friends for dinner. The food is absolutely delicious and very generous at a reasonable price,
Great to grab a meal before a movie at the Croydon Cinema across the street.
Great food. We've tried a few thai restaurants in the area and this is our fav so far. Love that staff wear the traditional attire and the interior of the restaurant seemed quite authentic. We'll def be back.
Fantastic value, delicious food!. This place is a hidden gem. The minute you walk in the door you are greeted with a warm welcome and hospitality. The food is fantastic and just keeps getting better each time we visit. We hadn't been for a while and tend to prefer to dine at Thai Tables in Bayswater, but after our last visit last Thursday I would say this place is better. The Yellow curry and green curry, absolutely delicious. We ate with our 2 children, who enjoyed every mouthful. For a family of 4, with a couple of entrees and drinks it was great value of $75, with all of us leaving feeling very satisfied.. Thanks for a great meal and we will be returning here rather than Thai Tables.
Good restaurant with value for money serving of Thai food.
Best Thai around. Still my favorite Thai restaurant! I've dined here many many times and the food never fails to impress. Curry puffs melt in the mouth. Delicious curries and roti bread. Service is good and ambience is excellent. Booking ahead is recommended as it's usually a popular place
Even though Thai Chaiyo is tucked away in a dodgy-looking part of Croydon with no other shops open around it, there's a reason almost every table was filled on a Wednesday night - consistency and quality.
The staff are polite and friendly, the food is delicious and authentic, and the atmosphere is perfect.
The portion sizes could be a little more generous, but that's if I'm nit-picking.
Hidden in Croydon. Hidden away in a corner of Croydon is Thai Chaiyo.
I met a friend for an early dinner and 3 hours later we were still sitting chatting and enjoying the surrounds.
We shared our meal and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I would highly recommend this local restaurant for a well priced meal in cosy and welcoming surroundings on a cold Melbourne evening.
Got a red curry chicken here on my first visit last week and it was absolutely delicious. Up there with the best Thai I have had.
Never fails to impress. We have been going to Thai Chaiyo for years now. This place offers food that are consistently delectable .It never fails to impress every time. It is Croydon's best restaurant
The food is beautifully cooked, the flavours just burst out and I've never had a meal there that hasn't been delicious.
I like that you can see the kitchen and staff cooking (depending on the table you are sitting at of course) because of the serving hatch at the side of the kitchen, I often look in, it is spotless even in the height of service (work in hotels so this is a BIG plus for me!) . The staff uniforms are beautiful, the host is funny with a great manner and good stories! Great prices, definitely my fave restaurant in Croydon.
"Great food" - I had the massaman curry. The beef just fell apart with a spoon. Staff always accommodating. My wife is pregnant and a little fussy with her foods however found all she ate was amazing. Thanks Thai Chaiyo you are our chosen place for a meal.
Oh my goodness. Thai Chaiyo food is delicious. I have a 3 and a 6 year old both boys who are fussy eaters however devour all the meals that are put in front of them here. The staff are extremely helpful. I brought a group of girlfriends to the restaurant, one was gluten free and Thai Chaiyo couldn't be more accommodating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Beautiful restaurant! Service is great and food is a lovely size, not too much. Really yummy! I will return for sure! :-)
We were looking for a casual dining experience on our way home from Mt Buller. We go out to some of the best restaurants in Melbourne but wanted to try something different. We went to Thai Chaiyo based on its fantastic reviews. We have to say they were spot on!! My boyfriend loves Tom Yum and after trying the dish here he categorically said 'this was the best Tom Yum I have ever had' and he is an extremely harsh critic!! We were pleasantly surprised by the Croydon gem. Service was impeccable ... They even remembered to bring out fresh chilli which we asked for when ordering. The trendy restaurants in the CBD and inner Melbourne could learn a thing or two here!!
Best Thai in Melbourne - & I've had alottt of Thai! Only disappointment, the staff were not busy- just standing behind the counter whilst we waited for about 20 minutes before we asked someone to takeour order. Service in this aspect needs an improvement. But amazing tasting thai!
Awesome... Unfortunately my hidden little gem seems to be getting better known... great little restaurant in a little corner of croydon. i suspect family owned and gorgeous. we are always greeted in traditional style, the place is tiny but well set out and beautifully presented, the wait staff look immaculate in traditional clothing, the service is perfect, the food divine. i have been here on many occassions and introduced friends and family to it... never disappointed. our go to is the entrees for two with the fish cakes a real highlight, the beef salad is so fresh, tasty and delish, the curries are spot on - overall just brilliant. please give this place a go.. you will not be disappointed.
Amazing Thai food, authentic. Pad thai generous and full of flavour, green curry chicken took me back to Thailand it was bursting with real flavours, and so delicious. Definitely will be back.
Really good place!. My parents and me often go to this restaurant to enjoy our dinner, this is a really good restaurant, we all like it very much. The food there is very delicious, and the waiters are very kind, when I can't decide which food is better, they always recommend me some dishes to me.
Good food, good poeple. The dishes are beautiful. the people there are kind. the kitchen is clean...
Food is delicious, friendly staff, very highly recommended
A hidden gem.... Literally. It hides around the corner from the shops facing the street on which it is located, without any lighting or whatnot. Just stand in front of the cinemas, turn around 180 degrees and you should see it at the rear-left of the building in front of you. However the search is worth it. Great service, genuine and willing to help. The food was much better than expected. Green curry was genuine with flavour, and the king prawns in a coconut batter then deep fried were magic. My dining partner enjoyed the curry puffs and his chicken dish. Unfortunately we couldn't fit in dessert. Restaurant was full so call to book ahead.
Happy customer. I have been dining at this restaurant on countless occasions. The food is magnificent and they deliver great service. The owners are very friendly. I'd recommend making a reservation before wondering in. Couple weeks ago I didn't and couldn't get a table on a Wednesday night. That just shows how good they are. Not cheap but good value!
Probably Croydon's best kept secret and yet they are always so busy! And for good reason. This is clearly family run and authentic - the menu is traditional and the food is of a high standard and is fairly reflected in the slightly higher than average price. Whilst I probably wouldn't go here for a quiet meal for two (it gets very busy and noisy with everyone having a good evening), we invariably go atleast fortnightly and share this awesome little restaurant tucked away on a back street with very many other regular diners. Bookings are seriously recommended - that's no marketing spin!
Love it. This is my favourite Thai restaurant. My husband & I can get entree, main, rice & rot for under $25. Such good value and the food is awesome. The owner is friendly.
We went on a Tuesday night and the place was very busy. The food was excellent. I had massaman beef, which was very tender and delicious. Atmosphere and service were surprisingly good for Croydon. Will go back.
Amazing food! Go regularly. Great service they cater great to gluten as fructose intollerances :)
Great service & food but a bit expensive for croydon.
Croydon's best secret. I just want to keep this secret to myself. My girlfriend and I love this place. Warm friendly service and great meals. Curry puffs are fantastic and order the red curry - delicious. Will have to stop recommending here to keep this secret to myself. Always book as busy on weekends!
The standout for me is the Tom Yum Goong. Always fresh ingredients and consistent quality. Friendly staff top it off. I'd recommend booking as it's usually quite busy
I am coeliac but they catered for me easily. The food was fresh tasty and delicious. Will definitely go back
Tasty, good value and always lovely service!
