Finally get to to try this place. Many people told me how good this is. Oh boy they are right. The photo you see here, is Polish lunch. It consists of a bowl of soup and 3 pierogi (there are a few soup and pierogi choices). I had the sauerkraut soup with potato cheese onion and bacon pierogi. Tell you what, I can drink that soup by the gallon. The pierogi is lovely.
Easier say, everything is spot on and very nice. If you happen to be in the area, definitely worth the try!
Such a cute bakery! I got the peorogi which is my favourite polish dish , the goulash , the Reuben and the chicken royal! It gets really busy but the service is quite fast
Peirogi is so good , I love the cheese and potato the best . The goulash is very hearty , the Reuben is a bit soggy due to the homemade sauerkraut cabbage and needs more pastrami . The chicken royal was amazing !
Friendly staff and quick service in a cute little cafe which was a pleasant surprise. Yummy food especially crispy chicken schnitzel and gnocchi with mushroom sauce.
Edit: Had the Rueben sandwich today. Very delicious, fresh, and homemade but definitely a variation of the traditional Rueben sandwich as it has cooked cabbage/sauerkraut (bigos) rather than your traditional sauerkraut. I still enjoyed it, and found it incredibly tasty. Super fresh bread, and for $9.50 is a total bargain. Was full and satisfied after.
What a cute little authentic Polish bakery, and in Dandenong of all suburbs! Polish Rye Crust Bakery offers traditional homemade Polish fare at such a reasonable price, and affords eat in breakfast and lunch options, sweets and savouries, deli cuts, bread loaves, and decent coffee. What can't they do?! I tried the coffee and homemade cheesecake on my visit. The cheesecake was absolutely exceptional, tasting deliciously homemade, fresh, and of balanced flavours. I am so keen to come back and try out the savoury lunch options, specifically the Polish specialities! Keep up the awesome work Polish Rye!
We always have these Superb and fresh cream cheese and jam bagels and cucumber pretzels, which are just perfect! Took their rye sourdough home which was delicious! Have to try their cheesecakes and gnocchi which Ive heard are yum too!
Drop by and make a sandwich/roll of your own preference. Great fillings and bread options, costs around $9 but is a large size and well worth it
I dropped in here this morning for a t/a espresso coffee. This place was bloody hard to find but I got there eventually... or maybe it was just my driving hahaha
The service was good, the coffee was alright too. I didn’t get a chance to eat there today but the pastries, bread and small goods looked really good.
Hold that thought... I’ll be back lol
LIT!: we ordered a sandwich and a reuban sandwich for $9.50 which was an incredible deal considering it fed 2 people. It was very filling and it was so juicy but the rye bread was far from soft.
NOT SO LIT: the vanilla slice was such a let down. The base top and bottom was so hard that we could not break through the top. It didn't taste fresh either, we left 3/4 of it. Super disappointed with the cake but wouldn't mind coming back for the sandwich
This is what I’ve been looking for quite some time now, a lovely beautiful gourmet ,wholesome food, huge portion and no pretentious. I am hesitant to walk in at first when I arrive but I’m glad I did. (The front shop does not look like most trendy cafes I’ve seen but hey never judge book by its cover right 😉).
The ladies are so accommodating and caring. That makes me feel like I eat foods from my aunties at home. I just love the feel.
The food ..... real wholesome food , delicious and bangs for the bucks. No edible flowers, no molecular gastronomy stuffs, no edible foam, none of those scientific cooking methods. JUST REAL FOOD over here. Coffee is decent but huge! I enjoy my long black tough.
All in all, I do love his cafe very much and will return again soon. Highly highly recommended 👍
Part of me doesn't want to write such a positive review because as it stands now we can just get a table on a Saturday morning. The more people that discover this place, the busier it will get. That being said it's such a wonderful bakery it's simply too good not to praise online. We were told of Polish Rye Crust through our butcher in Boronia (Fleisher's - exceptional continental butcher by the way) as we purchase our dark German rye from there which, is delivered by this business. I could sit here and write many paragraphs about how wonderful the food is, how fair the prices are, how warm and friendly the service is or how just goddamn outstanding their baked goods are. But rather than rant on and on I would simply encourage you to go and check it out yourself. I drive almost an hour to get here and it's worth every minute. I've only come here 3 times so far with my mother for breakfast but we already feel like regulars. We rarely leave without a few full bags and will no doubt make our way through the entire menu in time. Being from German heritage I can tell you that bakeries like this just don't exist in Melbourne. Get down there and see it for yourself, but perhaps not on a Saturday morning so I can still get a seat!
