Service is nice! Meals are fast! We ordered chickatsu don and chicken don. Both come with omelette on top which was pretty new to me. The rice is a bit soggy but the chicken pieces are done right! Price is quite ok for Japanese lunch. Their salmon aburi is fantastic, I enjoyed dit very much! Thanks to Xihuahua š¶ for changing up the lunch plan againš
+3 standard points for food
+1 variety of sashimi like nowhere else
Noise level: quiet.
Japās table is really worth a try if you enjoy chirashi don. The head chef is serious about his food and it shows! The fish is sliced well, and is sweet.
Iām personally not a fan of ramen, but itās quite good here! The noodles are firm and each broth has a unique twist.

Service is polite and venue is small but comfy. They have a section with low tables and floor seating too.
Came across this cosy and cute little Japanese restaurant near Redfern station and it delivered. The sashimi tasted fresh and their mains were amazingly good. The staff know their stuff and even miso soup is cheap (only $1). If youāre looking for casual dining without the price tag and quality Japanese food then check out Japās table!
Honestly a fantastic hidden gem! Popular at lunch times with the uni crowd and it's clear why - the value for money is fantastic (would recommend the salmon don +2 pieces of nigiri for $12).
The nigiri that comes with the lunch options is unusual (looks pressed) - but every time I come here I'm thoroughly impressed with its freshness and flavour!
The service is wonderful and attentive and their salmon don is the best I've had - rice and salmon are perfectly seasoned. My partner loved their curry don (they use chargrilled chicken which lends a delicious smokey flavour).
Went here for dinner tonight - quaint little Japanese place with floor seating like in Japan and regular tables. Traditionally dressed Japanese lady serving and very sweet and nice demeanour. A cold towel to freshen up was a nice touch. We ordered a sashimi salad which was fresh lettuce, seaweed, and fresh kingfish, salmon and tuna sashimi. It also had a bit of tofu and a sesame dressing. Very nice. Hubby got the eel sushi which was also very good and also an asahi. Great spot for Japanese / they also serve edamame, agedashi tofu, ramen and don bowls.
Cute, cosy Japanese joint. The only downer is that it's very smoky because of the yakitori. The tatami seating is a nice touch, especially great for people who aren't too comfortable sitting cross-legged - there's a hole underneath so you can dangle your feet normally. The chicken katsu and egg on rice was tasty, the gyoza was great, the chicken yakitori also good. Only the agedashi tofu was a bit too heavy-handed with soy sauce in its broth for me. Note that's it's BYO only, otherwise there are just light beverages.
Great local japanese restaurant. Tasty food especially the teriyaki chicken don and chicken skewers. Sushi rolls are highly recommended especially aburi salmon. Green tea icecream is a slight disappointment.
loved it. got a banquet from the nice chap serving us (birthday, 10 top) he picked everything, kept our vegan friends ( 3 of em) happy with the best meal they've had in a restaurant in ages. BYO keep the costs down (beer and wine), generous above average sushi but thought the pork belly dish was only OK. good atmosphere too.
Fabulous service, quirky and ambient decor, and delicious comfort Japanese food. I have recently left Darlington, and miss this as my local go-to for dinner! Try the chicken skin & pork belly skewers (with sauce), the tokyo ramen, and the donburi are always a winner. Easy to eat comfortably for $25 - $30 per person, and I'm a piggy so it's always great to be full at the end of a meal for under $50!
I don't think I can rave about this place any more than I have, really. Despite my initial remarks on the challenging nature of cooking Japanese food, stay tuned for my next blog post about kyaraben (character lunchbox)! Google that one ;)
