Great ambience and great pizza! Well priced as well. The pizza was not too heavy which was really good. The service was quite good. A great place if you want to go somewhere nice but not too expensive.
Great food with great atmosphere! We ordered four pizzas between the six of us hungry friends and two serves of broccolini! Will be back for sure, and looking forward to the amazing food!
If you haven't tried Postino then you are missing out! It is the bomb!
I am local and tried half the menu, the food is authentic and absolutely delicious. Think like stuff an Italian Nonna would make. The pizza is that traditional thin base pizza with so many toppings to choose from. Pasta dishes are cooked al dente and to perfection. The menu is extensive with lots of dishes to chose from. Prices are reasonable and service is prompt, staff are attentive and welcoming which is important in the hospitality industry.
Definitely recommended. They are also on Uber eats and are very speedy to prepare orders and take orders till quite late. Great if you feel like a yummy dessert at night. I can recommend the Tiramisu and Nutella Calzone. (Bombolini are also good).
Friendlier service, cleaner restaurant and fresher food. Pizza is now not soggy like before and better quality toppings. Wine list is real Italian stuff and more beers to drink in the nice courtyard outback. Postino is alive again!
Known for its traditional Italian wood fired pizza, the menu has really expanded over the last few years to include some excellent pasta dishes using quality ingredients. The Scialatielli Di Amalfi was a standout for me: simple, flavoursome Italian cooking at its best. If you feel indulgent, there’s also the tasting plate of traditional Italian desserts for one, or to share if you’re feeling generous.
I am glad I am experiencing pizza places beyond the city. This place reminds me of one of the upmarket Italian pizza places like 400 gradi, DOC, 90 secondi etc. as you can imagine with this place the ingredients are fancy and fresh. Although that is the case the atmosphere was nice and cozy as opposed to fancy although it did have a traditional Italian feel due to the staff working there. I had a salami pizza which tasted great. You can tell with these upmarket places they prefer not to overuse the ingredients and postino is no different, instead they prefer you to taste the individual flavours which I could with this pizza. The cheese and sauce tasted amazing and the salami was great too and was accompanied by basil.
For desert I had a Nutella calzone which tasted great too! It came with pistachio which I am fairly new to and was uncertain about trying but I enjoyed it. Big fan of the Nutella though!
Overall a great place and good to see more traditional Italian places in areas beyond the city, Carlton etc
3.5 ⭐️ Really like the pizza and pasta here. We ordered the garlic and herb focaccia for the kids to munch on while we browse through the menu.
We decided on the potato pizza with caramelised onions, hand made short pasta with seafood in soup, and some croquettes to share. The kids got bolognaise.
The potato pizza and focaccia had beautiful crust. The handmade short pasta was nice and chewy, even kiddies liked it. The mussels were not as fresh as I hoped though. And hence the 0.5 off the four stars.
The kiddies like the spaghetti bolognaise and one large portion was good for two kids to share. Otherwise they do have half portion for half price for kids, which I think it’s great cos they can try adult food instead of getting dodgey “kids meal”.
I really wanted to try their lemon curd bomboloni but the kids were chucking a 💩 so we had to go :(.
Like the writer of the last review we chanced on the Postino looking for a snack after a 6.30 screening at the Balwyn Theatre. The four of us shared a variety of entree dishes and all were excellent. These included baked ricotta, polenta chips, green beans, potato croquette, arancini balls and a variety of desserts including gelati and Tira Misu. The service was most efficient and friendly. The bread was also great. We were delighted to have discovered the Postino and we will certainly be back soon to try their pizzas and main dishes.
Looking for a place to eat after nearby movie, this place was packed which was a good sign. We got the last table for two, settled in with a glass of wine and then ordered some food to share. Calamari was crispy springy tender and addictive. Textbook. Augello white pizza with slow cooked lamb caramelised onions and pesto was delicious beyond belief. Sometimes white pizzas can feel a bit lacking. Not this one! Didn’t care that they forgot our side dish and brought wrong check. I just wanna go back to try more of their amazing food.
Much better now with new owners, the pizzas are better quality and not soggy. More variety and offers more than just pizza. Service is now friendly and helpful. Tasting plate is great idea.
Servers were very friendly and prompt with their service. We had the capricciosa pizza, crab linguine and cheesecake with mango sauce. The cheesecake was absolutely delicious and the serving was enough for both my girlfriend and I to share. The crab linguine was also fantastic with a rich tomato sauce and nice hit of spice. However the meal was let down by the pizza. As a long time pizza chef I can say the problem is the dough and how it is shaped. The bottom was soggy and not crispy. Also the crust was way too big meaning there was hardly any space for toppings and your last 3 or 4 bites were just doughy crust. This was a big dissapointment, I will have to think about ordering the pizza here again.

Recently had dinner here in their spacious courtyard. The zucchini pizza was really delicious. The cherry tomatoes, olives and sunflower seeds were a great combination. However, there was a little too much doughy crust for my liking but I would happily eat here again.
Great Napolitano pizza, thin bases puffy crusty crust.
I love the Massina and with a bottle of great Italian wine recommended by the waitress was cheap by today's standards.
Have dined here a few times now and just LOVE this place. Great food, attentive staff, prompt service and reasonably priced-what more can you ask for?
We'll be back!
This restaurant serves beautiful wood fired oven pizzas offering some unusual but excellently matched ingredients along with the standard ones. Service is good and pizzas arrive within minutes to your table.
It is on the expensive side but that doesn't stop me from dining here as I know it's always good.

Great little gem that is easily missed.
Ordered a few drinks to start however was a little difficult to get the waiters attention. After a drink error we were on our way to starters and loved the garlic break and olive ensemble.
Had the mushroom pizza for main and it was the best I'd ever had. The truffle sauce used complimented the salty flavours and was followed by the right amount of mozzarella.
Note: very cute date setting!
We ordered takeaway tonight and had 3 pizzas- the margherita, salumi and capriciosa pizza, all which were enjoyable; the base maybe a little too thin and they weren't cut properly. Really yum tomato base sauce!
For pasta we had a gnocchi bolognese which was really tasty, and a pecorino and pepper spaghetti, which was also very tasty, however the serving size was extremely small with the container less than half full. Please Postino, don't charge $18 for spaghetti and cheese and then have a serving size smaller than an entree....that was disappointing.
Overall the flavours were nice and we would eat here again, but hope the venue can provide better value for money.
Little Italy in Balwyn .
We've been meaning to visit Postino for a while ,
we were a group of 6 people .
Traditional Italian cuisine made with fresh ingredients in a cosy atmosphere.
we had antipasto to share ,
Gnocchi special which had duck ragout and orange. it was superb , and Postino pizza with fresh buffalo mozzarella, Messina pizza, and Patate pizza very tasty ,
i love it .
best pizza i ever had .
Wine list small with very good selection of wine ,
very good service and friendly staff .
We'll definitely come back .
Favourite pizza in the area. Simple toppings, perfect bases - yum! Salsiccia & Calabrese are my faves (with anchovies OF COURSE!!). Generous portion sizes & staff are really good (told us when we had ordered too much).
This is the place for tiramisu! 10/10. Amazing. The best I have had in a long, long, long time. Will be coming back again just for this!
Unfortunately the savory food didn't give me as much food excitement. Tonight I had the lasagna and my sister had the lamb ragu. I've been here months ago and also wasn't convinced. My thoughts were backed again by my experience tonight. There's just something missing in regards to flavour. I feel like a bit of a fraud discussing food like I know what I'm talking about, but looking at previous reviews I think I'm not the only one with these thoughts.
As a whole the restaurant is lovely and staff are nice. Parking is pretty easy and the lighting is soft and calming. Prices are leaning towards the expensive side but overall a nice experience.
Yum! Pizza was amazing. Love the base. Flavours spot on. Always like when the waiter tells you the portion is large and you are over ordering. Has become a regular family Friday night favourite.
Best wood fire pizza in Melbourne. True Italian style rustic pizza. Authentic. Great atmosphere, services and staff. Don't forget to try the gelato. Love it.
Had a lovely dinner here - firstly the interiors are lovely and walk the line between minimalistic and cosy which quite rare. The food was also great, the Garlic and olive oil pizza fresh, tasty and authentic. I got the crab pasta and it was delicious, the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and was a great balance of flavours, and the coffee I had after post dinner was really high quality - I spotted axel on some take away cups so there is really no surprises there! Overall a great neighbourhood dining place.
Fabulously light pizzas with heaps of delicious toppings.
We popped in unannounced for a quick Sunday lunch post movie. Easy to get a seat.
Waitress was friendly and obliging.
Carparking out the front.
In and out- perfect when accompanied with kids.
We will be back.
A lovely place to catch up with friends where car park is right at the front door which is a bonus. Nice atmosphere and felt like we were in Rome eating our favourite pizza! Pizzas are Italian like, thin crust, fresh produce with even a tiny basilico plant on your table so I took advantage of that and picked the sweet aromatic leaves and placed them on my yummy pizza. Pizzas were huge and thought I couldn't finish it but yes I did! It was delish. Topped off with a nice Pinot Noir. Our meal was finished off with the cannoli and they were soooo good. An espresso to finish off our meal was perfect.
So lovely to see the pizzaiola preparing fresh home made pasta right infront of my eyes...will go back next time to try this!! Excellent 🤗
Pizza & Wine night after a long shift of work on a public holiday! Such a great little italian restraunt to come to with the family , if you have been to italy and miss it, this place brings back memories! It's one to try on a cold night out! Ciaó
Nice place with a great atmosphere- there was friendly service, the food was excellent and it all came very quickly after we ordered. The meals looked like small servings at the outset, but they turned out to be tasty and satisfyingly filling. We ordered a marguerita pizza, special smoked salmon and truffle oil pasta, and a gnocchi bolognese and they all turned out delicious. All the staff were friendly and helpful as well. The tap water tastes really good here for some strange reason.

Came here for the first time on recommendation. Pizzas were great though became soggy very quickly, probably because pizzas were served on a normal plate rather than on a pizza pan or a hot plate. Marinara linguine was great, flavours good and pasta perfectly al dente. Lasagna was way too salty and we couldn't finish it unfortunately. We found the sizing of the pasta dishes a bit too small for pricing. Service good though a bit too keen to clear dishes away when some of us were still eating!
Our first time coming to this place, and whilst I wouldn't say it's the best pizza I have ever had, it is definitely good pizza. I did however only try the Vespa on the menu and saw others having what seemed to be more tasty pizzas. The pizza itself probably needed more cheese, but other than that I liked it's thin base and fresh toppings.
We also had the ravioli which was delicious, and certainly needed to be for $26!!
The service was lovely and attentive and the actual appearance of the restaurant was modern. It can get really busy (and noisy), even on a mid week night, so booking in advance is advisable.
Previous reviews talk about organised chaos on a Saturday night...precisely our experience! We arrived for our booking at 7.30 on Saturday night with no one to greet us or seat us. But I loved it! It was authentic, unpretentious and real...just like the pizzas. Straight out of Italy! Who wants well rehearsed service when at the end of the day when we finally got our table, we were served our menus promptly and the meals came out within 5 minutes! The advantage of wood fired pizzas. The wine recommendation was also spot on! Great atmosphere too!
Its over all pretty good but hard to get a table. The food is good but they need to play around with the menu. Been there a couple of times and its usually same old same old.
I ordered takeaway pizza from this restaurant. Pizza was fresh and realltly authentic. The Margherrita pizza was a bit on the small side though (8 inch size). Will definitely become my local pizza shop
First time eating at Postino last night, and was not disappointed.
The restaurant itself was modern and spacious, and the waiters were friendly and attentive.
I ordered the Postino which was delicious, the base was nice and thin and the toppings were just right. My girlfriends loved their pizzas too.
Will definitely be back to try the dessert!
Loved the layout of the restaurant and the courtyard area at the back was very nice. Food was very good but for the prices, expectation was already set pretty high (this place is definitely more expensive than others in the area). Make sure you ask the waiter for the pizza and pasta specials of the day - they were interesting and fun (the pizza special was a white pizza with prosciutto, porcini paste and truffle oil....yum!)
Small little hideaway just off burke rd, postino boasts a delicious selection of traditional style pizzas. For most of you who order woodfired pizza to "take away" know nothing about pizza as it is meant to be enjoyed fresh from the oven hence why it goes soggy after being transported longer than 5-10 minutes. Infuriates me reading people judging (who clearly have no idea) a place when they haven't actually experienced what the establishment has to offer. I have always enjoyed the staff and the pizza here. The pasta and other menu items are where this place falls down a little, but the combination of flavours and seasonal menu items show the kitchen is doing the right thing. A good selection of Italian wine and the staff are informative and know their menu which is always important. A little more care with pasta dishes and other menu items would go a long way but does not stop me coming back for the pizza
After trying many pizzerias in the area (firechief, Santoni, pizza religion, birichino) have to say Postino beats them hands down to become the go to for truly great pizza. Beautiful little courtyard and great relaxed vibe. Haven't been on a Friday/Saturday night yet but the number 1 choice when catching up with friends.
Service could have been better, but staff were generally nice and accommodating, just hard to get ahold of
Food however, makes up for everything, honestly best pizza in the vicinity
Our group of 7 was headed to Kew for a dance show on Friday night and were looking for somewhere for a relaxed but tasty bite to eat. Postino hit the target perfectly.
We had a relatively early booking and the weather was stunning, so although we'd made a booking inside we asked to move outside and the staff were really happy to assist.
Sitting in the courtyard with the sun setting, a Peroni and a few wood fired pizzas between us (the Postino and Prawn were our group favourites) it couldn't have been a better way to bring in the long weekend. Can't wait to go back.
*Even with our large group they were really happy to split the bill. Why can't everywhere do this!
The best pizza I've had and probably any human being has ever had in the nation of Australia. The fact that this pizza doesn't cost a human limb to purchase is astonishing as the ingredients used in their pizzas have been shipped down from heaven itself. The staff are endlessly joyful and excited and knowledgable about the food. It's a disservice to anybody who likes good pizza to not at least try postino!
If you are serious about good food come to postino amazing pizza and other foods that's are awesome one mention there is also amazing staff which are always welcoming
Very pleasing experience dining at Postino last night. Environment was friendly and welcoming - also catered well for a small child. Food was well above par however probably a little expensive compared to other options around the area. Overall would be back!
I've been here many times and getting take away as well. Their pizza are excellent. My favourites is Messina. For dessert the Belgian white chocolate with strawberries and cream. It is so good! Fast services and great food consistently.
Came here on a weeknight. Place was really busy. Food is really good and they have good beer as well. We were well attended and food came out quickly. We were all starving so ordered a lot of food. Most of it was very good. Paid the price when the bill came though. Great place to try if you haven't been.
Very busy, even with a booking we had to wait 20 minutes for a table while our predecessors finished their meals. Once seated it was a very pleasant experience with great friendly staff and good, fresh Italian food. Try the smoked salmon pizza! Corkage is pretty steep here at $6-$8 a bottle ( we paid the restaurant $18 to drink our BYO $21 worth of wine).
Good authentic wood fire oven pizzas.. Fantastic base with a slight modern take on original Napoli styled pizzas., a little bit the pricey for a surburban pizza house but worth the money.. Very busy on the weekends
Great service and wonderful pizza! Authentic style and full of flavour, just like the pizzas in Italy! And the tiramisù was amazing!!
Highly recommended!
Had a delightful meal here a few weeks ago with friends. Beautiful pizzas, the tiramisu is as good as my nonna's and the Chianti we drank was lovely and reasonably priced. Will be back.
Postino was what we believe the best woodfire pizza in Melbourne, and we've tried many! I had the special eggplant ravioli for main and my partner the gnocchi bolognese, both exceptional dishes and unexpectedly unique. Service was beyond impressive, all together a wonderful experience!
Babysitter booked, movie tickets booked. Oops forgot dinner reservation
This looks nice and it was........
Lovely Italian fare which took me back to wandering the back streets of Florence. Simple yet tricky balance of flavour. I wish I could do this at home
Pizza was delicious and the crust was perfect. We had the lamb and it had been cooking for days to get that fall apart in your mouth taste. Wine list great. Certainly be back real soon
Amazing food and service was great. If you like mushrooms and truffle Tartufo pizza is awesome. We will definitely be back here soon with friends
Pizzas are awesome with a great authentic crust. Especially loved the prosciutto pizza which was very generous, and the homemade gnocchi was perfectly soft. The manager helped us choose a beautiful organic wine and was very attentive. Great overall!
One of the Best Pizza's Around. Traditional Italian woodfired pizza's that, in my opinion, rival those at 400 Gradi, Ladro, 90 Sceondi, etc. Highly recommend the Mozzarella D.O.C and Calebresse with its spicy sausage.
Melbournes best pizza. One of the best pizza places I have eaten at in a very long time. There is nothing to fault about postino. The waiters were very attentive! The pizza melted in your mouth. 100% will eat here again.
Have just found a great new(ish) local. We had the meatballs with tomato sauce. Also pear with rocket & Parmesan. THEN house made limoncello panacotta AND tiramisu to share ~ all of it delicious. Very attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. Excellent.
Recently renovated old favourite. The hidden gem of Balwyn is finally back with a woodfired oven from Naples that is bigger than my house and a fresh load of Italian waiters. Pasta now on the menu, which had been a notable omission previously. Top stuff. Highly recommended

Legit. Went to this place for the first time since it opened after reading favourable reviews on Urban List. It was good then and has improved a lot since. The food is the real deal - proper pizza napoletana with all the ingredients and chefs straight from Italy. It's amazing what they can do with such a small kitchen. Staff tell me they're expanding next year. Will be interesting to see what happens as the owners clearly know what they're doing.
Love at First Bite. My heart sang when I took my first bite, this is pizza like you have never experienced. From their first grade toppings to their authentic tantalising crust, Postino will have Italy begging for their recipe. Everything about this place makes you feel welcome, it's uncluttered interior and unpretentious laid back attitude makes you feel like you are eating with friends. Put that all aside, the food, my god the food!!! My eyes cried little tears shaped like buffalo mozzarella balls and stomach did it's best to expand to fit as much enriching soul nourishing food as it could. I know you think has this woman gone mad.. it's just pizza.. but it's not, it's so much more than pizza. It's perfection..
Spot on!. This is the place to get amazing pizza the way it should be.. We both thoroughly enjoyed and shared the prawn and ricotta pizza with the cannelloni. Service was good too as was the courtyard ;-) happy customers !
Love the pizzas and the busy, happy vibe. Tonight I misunderstood what one of the pizza choices involved - marinara - and so they explained it and brought me an extra plate of delicious prawns without my asking. Excellent service on a very busy Friday night, will be back.
A great place for a quiet night with friends. Great people and great service.
Had dinner with my kids at this lovely little Italian pizza restaurant. Open fire going, great service and possibly the best pizza I have ever tasted. The meatball dish is delicious and the salads are great. Definitely worth a visit and won't break the bank.
Great, authentic Italian pizzas. Went on saturday night and was very impressed. Good service to begin with but the pizzas were excellent. Beautiful light with slightly chewy, thin bases and generous toppings. I had one with buffolo mozzarella and prosciutto that was stunning. The deserts were really good as well - never thought I would have pizza for desert but this was delicious with fresh strawberries and nutella.
It was well priced, byo and we will definitely go back.
Great Italian Style Pizzas. Postino is a great traditional Italian Pizza restaurant. Definitely the best Pizzas in the Balwyn area and maybe even Melbourne! The bases are fantastic. Thin on the bottom with a great crust.
The most recent one I had was a Pizza Messina which was very nice.
Service is also great. The Italian waiters are always welcoming.
Highly recommended.
Postino, our new local, ticks all the boxes. The Pizza is absolutely delicious every time & perfectly complimented by a bowl of yummy salad & glass of Italian wine or beer. The atmosphere is always buzzing & the fit out is stylish. 10 out of 10!
Enjoyed my evening immensely. Loved that there was only one Aussie staff member there! Bring on those gorgeous Italian accents. Nice fit out. Pizzas were good. Loved the bases and use of quality produce. Salads, particularly the cos salad was yum. Gelati was fabulous - hazelnut, fig & alamond and raspberry. Tiramisu also good. The fact that it's byo topped off the experience. Look fwd to returning. A quality local!
Authentic Italian pizzas with excellent customer service. Delicious gelato too! Love this place.

I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to all the staff at Postino for allowing myself and my guests to have such a wonderful evening! From the food, waitresses (we had 2 dedicated for the back area), atmosphere, everything was terrific! Nothing was ever too much trouble, so kind and willing to help they even called a Maxi Taxi for us and allowed us to sit in the restaurant even whilst it was closed. Thank you to everyone at Postino for making my birthday so special- it will certainly be one I'll never forget!!

The pizzas at postino are as good as the ones i ate in Italy. The italian chefs and staff make the dining experience feel like you are in italy. We always start our dining experience with an aperol spritz. If you are lucky Andrea the chef will perform an acrobatic display...incredible. The ingredients are top quality - my favourite pizza is the priociutto - they use San Daniele priociutto and the best buffalo mozzarella. I love my new local!
Went to postino last night with a group of mates before a movie - food was quick and pizza's outstanding - the pizza special the best tasting pizza I have ever had! I used to go to DOC in Carlton for my pizza but now I don't have to travel so far because these are just as good if not better!
Have had the take away Pizzas here since they opened but dined in for the first time tonight. Pizzas were really spot on, atmosphere great and staff are great. Must admit I was mesmerized by watching the pizza bases being made. Highly recommend!
Delicioso!. I have been sampling Melbourne's pizzerias and have found the best!
Excellent antipasto produce... mortadella and prosciutto as good if not better than in Italy.
Pizzas expertly made by a Neapolitan and a Sicilian chef with innovative topping choices such as brocollini with lemon and chilli, mushrooms, talleggio and pine nuts and the Messina with prosciutto and gorgonzola.Very hard to choose a favourite! Beautiful tasty salads. A short, high quality, reasonably priced wine list.We tried the tiramisu, lemon sorbet and pannacotta. All fantastic! Sometimes you have to get out of the trendy areas to find a place that offers both superior food and friendly service. A great find, highly recommended.
Love the freshness of the food. All staff are friendly and ambience is what you would expect from a popular restaurant. Good work and thank you !!!!
Loved this place! Found staff to be attentive and loved the different "rooms" within the restaurant. Great variety of pizza choices and the salad we tried was delicious. Pizza bases and topics were perfect the night we went. Highly recommend. Well done Balwyn!
The pizza here is fantastic! I will definitely be going back.
Best pizza in a long time! Toppings were of the best quality. Recommend it!
Lovely light fluffy base, perfect if you want pizza without a mountain of cheese and crust. Fantastic toppings
Best gluten free pizza I have eaten! Great service!
Food was fantastic the staff were very friendly highly professional and very attentive to the customers needs. Extremely good first impression, we will be back without a doubt.
Fantastic pizza's. Possibly the best base I've ever had and consistent.
Great pizza selections. Pizza's with garlic could do with more/stronger garlic. Love this place and drive across town just to get them. Nice work Postino.
Great pizza but..... Here's a place clearly struggling with their early success. Have been to Postino about 10 times since they opened but food is now losing its consistency and tonite, pizzas were undercooked and hence soggy and pretty ordinary. Hopefully just an off night and the crispy based perfection will return ....
Balwyn was crying out for an authentic Italian pizzeria and this place is just sensational. Wonderful, attentive front of house, great service and pizza that is off the charts. Be patient as this place is new, very busy and has already recieved highly complimentary reviews from influential gastronomes. Than you for bringing this little gem to the eastern suburbs!
All round excellence. A great welcome from friendly, professional and attentive staff, Nothing is too much trouble. Authentic pizzas....no doughy Pizza Hut here! Perfect pre-cinema drop-in. Great addition to the area.
Delicious!!. Great new place!! Loved the pizza, atmosphere & service. Will definitely be back:)
Mother's Day at Postino was exceptional. The service was amazing considering the amount of people that went through the place in the time we were there. The food was fantastic and the flowers on each table was a nice thought for Mother's Day. These people clearly want to make customers happy. Well done Postino and staff.
-----27 Jan, 2014-----
Perfect. I didn't think it could get any better but it has or maybe I have just forgotten just how good Postino pizza is. The flavour of the base is fantastic and cooked to perfection. I try not to eat the crust but just love the flavor and can't resist.
Will be back next time I'm in Melbourne.
-----22 Oct, 2013-----
Outstanding. We love pizza and this is the best since we were last in Italy.
The thin bases are amazing, tasty with a crunchy edge and the best ingredients.
Our favourite starter was the whipped sheep's milk ricotta with garlic and herb focaccia. The Tiramisu and Green Apple gelato desserts were fantastic. The staff were wonderful and the place was buzzing without being noisy. It was difficult to book as the message bank is always full but worth the call back later in the afternoon.
Wowee. In a city full of great pizza places, Postino really shines. The pizza is perfection; the vibe relaxed yet cool. Tonight (my second visit) I tried the salami and broccoli pizzas. Thin & light bases, good ingredients, simple - what more could you want?! The staff at Postino are professional yet down-to-earth, ensuring a great experience is had. I will be coming back time and time again!
Amazing Pizza!!!. Definitely the best pizza in town! As well as great service.
Best Pizza Ever!!!. If you are after good pizza, Postino is the place to go!! Thin, crunchy base and high quality toppings! Get the Cows Milk Ricotta as a starter...absolutely delicious!! The atmosphere is great; relaxed, a fireplace in one corner and very friendly staff! My favourite pizza was San Daniele Prosciutto...lots of yummy prosciutto topped with the tastiest mozzarella balls but unlike other pizzas these balls are served cold...just AMAZING!!
We will definitely go there again...Top place!!
Pretty bloody delicious!. We went in its opening week, not only incredibly delicious, but the ambience was great, the restaurant was full and buzzing and we went on a Sunday! Not too loud though, great to see the Italian's making the pizza's in the open kitchen. I had the smoked Salmon, but amongst us we had almost everything on the menu. Pizzas weren't on a super thin base, but even with some volume the crust was really fantastic.
The menu clearly shows an intention to provide simple, balanced and very well made pizzas and this was delivered in all of ours. I had the mascarpone Calzone for dessert and it was delicious, heard good things about the Tirimasu and the Fig and Apple Gelati. 5 stars for sure.
DELICIOUS authentic pizza. We ate here last week and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The restaurant was buzzing and we were warmly welcomed in. I really enjoyed sitting near the open kitchen and seeing all the pizza being made. I think the most difficult part of the night was choosing which pizza to have... SOOO many good options. All the best classics but also lots of other very tasty and interesting options.
I ordered the pork sausage, roasted apple, mozzarella and sage pizza and I couldn't fault it - the flavours were simple, delicious and worked perfectly together. I also tried the San Daniele Proscuitto and the Mushroom one which were also delicious. I think one of the things that stood out the most was the base/crust - so so tasty. I actually can't think of a crust I've had anywhere that was better... The ingredients seem to be of a very high quality also.
Although we were already very full after our pizzas we couldn't resist some dessert and so shared the Nutella Pizza (with banana and strawberry) and The Calzoncino (with nutella, strawberries, mascapone)... OH MY GOD. Both were amazinggggg but get the Calzoncino if you have to choose! So bloody good.
Such a sexy brunette worker here! Lovely salami pizza, and the pumpkin pizza puts the 'pump' in pumping.
Pizza the way it is intended to be. I used to think DOC was the only serious pizza place in town, but in my opinion the bases at Postino eclipse those of any other I have had in Melbourne. In an unlikely location, Postino is truly authentic – from the Italian pizza chefs flipping and turning the bases in front of you (quite acrobatic!) to the simple and delicious combinations on the pizzas. In any pizza place, the Margherita must be the control pizza and here it was done with brilliance. Whoever is in charge obviously subscribes the same mantra that we all know -there is no substitute for quality ingredients. I look forward to going back.
Italian sausage & apple is a winner!
Yummo.
Prefect pozzie for post movie pizza.
Excellent authentic thin based pizza, range of delicious toppings and great gelati too! Well priced and friendly staff, I will be recommending this place to many people!
Bellisimo!. What a fantastic local restaurant! Seriously authentic thin based pizzas...I haven't had as good since I was last in Italy! This is a result of the two young italian guys whipping up the pizzas in front of you. The bases are perfectly crisp and the toppings are top quality and delicious. The service is absolutely brilliant, its so nice and refreshing to have smiley welcoming waiters, they are few and far between these days! On top of this, its BYO until the license comes through. Great fit out with inside and outside areas. I've also ordered take away too...it was done within 15 minutes and delicious. The perfect addition to Balwyn!
Loved it! Great service from friendly, attentive staff. Lovely crispy pizzas with great toppings. One lasagne pasta, otherwise just pizzas. BYO or visit Jimmy Watson Cellars a short walk away. A wonderful new local!
I ate at this place after moving to Melbourne having spent a number of years abroad. I was shocked to see it has such a low star review. I will not comment on the owner interactions as we had no issues, just ate, paid our bills, no issues. But let me talk about the pizzas… I’d spent time in Europe, the US and Asia, and I personally thought the pizza here was the best pizza I had ever eaten. Just my view. Would be back more often if not for the fact that 9yo prefer dominos… I don’t understand, but junk food is sweeter for the young palate. I judge this place by the pizzas coz I wanted a pizza… and I thought it was the best pizza I had eaten. My opinion only.
Had a group birthday dinner- food was delicious and service was excellent, with staff very accomodating of all our requirements! Thank you for a great night- we will be back!
Best pizza in the area! Had a lovely night with my partner and the pizza was delicious, traditional wood-fired with super fresh quality toppings! Great service and dining area. My partner is a former chef and we both agree this place should be rated 5 stars. Colin’s pizzas are exceptional and this will now be our go-to local pizza place!
Love this place. I come here at least once a fortnight and get a great feed. Food is fresh and authentic, wines are well picked and reliable.
Owner runs a tight ship, food quality is really important and works hard to ensure its consistent and delicious.
Wait staff are excellent, just let them know what you feel like and they'll ensure you get a great line up of beautiful food.
I rarely write reviews unless I receive an exceptional experience because having a sook on the internet is less exciting than most other things in life. I went to this place for two reasons - it was recommended by a relative and all the negative reviews seemed like entitled clowns and made me laugh, so I wanted to see for myself. Service from the waiters was excellent, venue was clean, and the bolognese which comes with fettuccine but the restaurant allowed me to swap out for penne, tasted like a proper, homemade Italian dish with beautiful cheese on top. The Italian doughnuts with Nutella were also quite nice. I don’t know whom this ‘angry midget’ is, mentioned in all the other reviews here and I’d love to meet him, but my missus and I enjoyed this cosy restaurant with its cool little courtyard, and I’ll now be returning with my friends.
Haven’t been to Postino for a while. Takeaway last night; superb!
In my opinion the best pizza around kew, Balwyn, deepdene.
A nice little place to dine in, the courtyard is fantastic.
The pizza is hands down the best. Absolute quality and well priced. The postino, capricciosa and Maria are favourites.
Can’t go past the Italian donuts and in takeaway form even better with a generous serve Nutella.
Bravo guys.
Quality authentic, wood fired pizza and Italian fare.
The owner chef is a smart operator who knows his product and truly cares about the food he serves, and giving the customer a great experience. People who have given this place a bad rap really need to give it another go!
