Great ambience and great pizza! Well priced as well. The pizza was not too heavy which was really good. The service was quite good. A great place if you want to go somewhere nice but not too expensive.
Great food with great atmosphere! We ordered four pizzas between the six of us hungry friends and two serves of broccolini! Will be back for sure, and looking forward to the amazing food!
If you haven't tried Postino then you are missing out! It is the bomb!
I am local and tried half the menu, the food is authentic and absolutely delicious. Think like stuff an Italian Nonna would make. The pizza is that traditional thin base pizza with so many toppings to choose from. Pasta dishes are cooked al dente and to perfection. The menu is extensive with lots of dishes to chose from. Prices are reasonable and service is prompt, staff are attentive and welcoming which is important in the hospitality industry.
Definitely recommended. They are also on Uber eats and are very speedy to prepare orders and take orders till quite late. Great if you feel like a yummy dessert at night. I can recommend the Tiramisu and Nutella Calzone. (Bombolini are also good).
Friendlier service, cleaner restaurant and fresher food. Pizza is now not soggy like before and better quality toppings. Wine list is real Italian stuff and more beers to drink in the nice courtyard outback. Postino is alive again!
Known for its traditional Italian wood fired pizza, the menu has really expanded over the last few years to include some excellent pasta dishes using quality ingredients. The Scialatielli Di Amalfi was a standout for me: simple, flavoursome Italian cooking at its best. If you feel indulgent, there’s also the tasting plate of traditional Italian desserts for one, or to share if you’re feeling generous.
I am glad I am experiencing pizza places beyond the city. This place reminds me of one of the upmarket Italian pizza places like 400 gradi, DOC, 90 secondi etc. as you can imagine with this place the ingredients are fancy and fresh. Although that is the case the atmosphere was nice and cozy as opposed to fancy although it did have a traditional Italian feel due to the staff working there. I had a salami pizza which tasted great. You can tell with these upmarket places they prefer not to overuse the ingredients and postino is no different, instead they prefer you to taste the individual flavours which I could with this pizza. The cheese and sauce tasted amazing and the salami was great too and was accompanied by basil.
For desert I had a Nutella calzone which tasted great too! It came with pistachio which I am fairly new to and was uncertain about trying but I enjoyed it. Big fan of the Nutella though!
Overall a great place and good to see more traditional Italian places in areas beyond the city, Carlton etc
3.5 ⭐️ Really like the pizza and pasta here. We ordered the garlic and herb focaccia for the kids to munch on while we browse through the menu.
We decided on the potato pizza with caramelised onions, hand made short pasta with seafood in soup, and some croquettes to share. The kids got bolognaise.
The potato pizza and focaccia had beautiful crust. The handmade short pasta was nice and chewy, even kiddies liked it. The mussels were not as fresh as I hoped though. And hence the 0.5 off the four stars.
The kiddies like the spaghetti bolognaise and one large portion was good for two kids to share. Otherwise they do have half portion for half price for kids, which I think it’s great cos they can try adult food instead of getting dodgey “kids meal”.
I really wanted to try their lemon curd bomboloni but the kids were chucking a 💩 so we had to go :(.
Like the writer of the last review we chanced on the Postino looking for a snack after a 6.30 screening at the Balwyn Theatre. The four of us shared a variety of entree dishes and all were excellent. These included baked ricotta, polenta chips, green beans, potato croquette, arancini balls and a variety of desserts including gelati and Tira Misu. The service was most efficient and friendly. The bread was also great. We were delighted to have discovered the Postino and we will certainly be back soon to try their pizzas and main dishes.
Looking for a place to eat after nearby movie, this place was packed which was a good sign. We got the last table for two, settled in with a glass of wine and then ordered some food to share. Calamari was crispy springy tender and addictive. Textbook. Augello white pizza with slow cooked lamb caramelised onions and pesto was delicious beyond belief. Sometimes white pizzas can feel a bit lacking. Not this one! Didn’t care that they forgot our side dish and brought wrong check. I just wanna go back to try more of their amazing food.
Much better now with new owners, the pizzas are better quality and not soggy. More variety and offers more than just pizza. Service is now friendly and helpful. Tasting plate is great idea.
I ate at this place after moving to Melbourne having spent a number of years abroad. I was shocked to see it has such a low star review. I will not comment on the owner interactions as we had no issues, just ate, paid our bills, no issues. But let me talk about the pizzas… I’d spent time in Europe, the US and Asia, and I personally thought the pizza here was the best pizza I had ever eaten. Just my view. Would be back more often if not for the fact that 9yo prefer dominos… I don’t understand, but junk food is sweeter for the young palate. I judge this place by the pizzas coz I wanted a pizza… and I thought it was the best pizza I had eaten. My opinion only.
Had a group birthday dinner- food was delicious and service was excellent, with staff very accomodating of all our requirements! Thank you for a great night- we will be back!

Best pizza in the area! Had a lovely night with my partner and the pizza was delicious, traditional wood-fired with super fresh quality toppings! Great service and dining area. My partner is a former chef and we both agree this place should be rated 5 stars. Colin’s pizzas are exceptional and this will now be our go-to local pizza place!
Love this place. I come here at least once a fortnight and get a great feed. Food is fresh and authentic, wines are well picked and reliable.
Owner runs a tight ship, food quality is really important and works hard to ensure its consistent and delicious.
Wait staff are excellent, just let them know what you feel like and they'll ensure you get a great line up of beautiful food.
I rarely write reviews unless I receive an exceptional experience because having a sook on the internet is less exciting than most other things in life. I went to this place for two reasons - it was recommended by a relative and all the negative reviews seemed like entitled clowns and made me laugh, so I wanted to see for myself. Service from the waiters was excellent, venue was clean, and the bolognese which comes with fettuccine but the restaurant allowed me to swap out for penne, tasted like a proper, homemade Italian dish with beautiful cheese on top. The Italian doughnuts with Nutella were also quite nice. I don’t know whom this ‘angry midget’ is, mentioned in all the other reviews here and I’d love to meet him, but my missus and I enjoyed this cosy restaurant with its cool little courtyard, and I’ll now be returning with my friends.
Haven’t been to Postino for a while. Takeaway last night; superb!
In my opinion the best pizza around kew, Balwyn, deepdene.
A nice little place to dine in, the courtyard is fantastic.
The pizza is hands down the best. Absolute quality and well priced. The postino, capricciosa and Maria are favourites.
Can’t go past the Italian donuts and in takeaway form even better with a generous serve Nutella.
Bravo guys.
Quality authentic, wood fired pizza and Italian fare.
The owner chef is a smart operator who knows his product and truly cares about the food he serves, and giving the customer a great experience. People who have given this place a bad rap really need to give it another go!
