We came here for a platter to celebrate my birthday and albeit on the expensive side, the food was well presented with a lot of choice. The restaurant had a warm ambience and was cosy in the winter rain, which unfortunately stopped us exploring the gardens. The best thing is being able to buy everything on the platter from “The Shed” so we stocked up on the chutney and olives. Word of advice - don’t drive here on a rainy day if you don’t want your car to get dirty as it’s a muddy driveway which you can’t avoid.
Just minutes outside of Denmark, the Lake House should be on everyone's list to visit. If not for the excellent wine, then for the amazing lunch platters. So delicious.
Sitting next to a beautiful lake with the magical forest all around - there are fewer places more enjoyable to eat lunch. We had two platters, desserts and drinks - the waitress looking after us was so quick and really enthusiastic. We had a few questions as one of us must avoid gluten, and she was quick to come back with answers to questions she didn't know.
The Denmark cider is refreshing, and great if you don't like cider too sweet. The platters were delicious and honestly pretty healthy, with a lack of processed foods, nothing deep fried, and organic local produce. Falafels were my favourite. Desserts were excellent, couldn't finish both scones. The boysenberry jam is so tasty if, again, you don't want a full sugar hit with your jam.
The gluten free platter was excellent. No gluten anywhere!
If you eat outside just watch out for a few lazy flies here and there. Definitely book ahead just in case. We will be back.
