Nice local Greek food. Generous portion sizes and good friendly service. This place is suitable for large groups. We liked the dips and saganaki.
Recently dined here with a large group. The most easiest way to go with a large group was one of the set banquets. Our chief waiter was very accomodating when a few of our group chose to order off the a la carte menu. We grouped ourselves into banquet diners & non banquet diners to make it easier with the shared plates. At $49pp we chose the standard banquet. For this, between each group of four, we received a crusty loaf of bread with a selection of 5 dips, pan-fried ‘saganaki’ cheese, grilled spicy sausage and dolmathes - which were quite pleasant but I am undecided whether they were made commercially or house-made. Didn’t taste brined so don’t believe they came from a can. Next up came a mound of tender fried calamari and one decent sized char-grilled prawn per person. Both were well cooked & flavoursome. A fresh typical Greek salad accompanied. The next serve was the meat-platter. This unfortunately let the whole meal down. It consisted of lamb & chicken gyros & char-grilled pork fillet. The lamb & chicken had a strong gamey meat taste & smell and dare I say, almost a slimy texture which I found really unpleasant. The pork fillet was quite thin & cooked within an inch of its life making it extremely tough & chewy. It also had a strong taste & smell. Not sure of the meat platter’s freshness to be honest. The meat was accompanied by some nicely cooked lemon roast potatoes. The sweet was a bowl of tasty doughnut balls accompanied by Halva ice-cream. Not really a sweets person but quite enjoyed this followed by a strong Greek coffee. The service was prompt & friendly. Our main server was pleasant enough with a dry, straight-faced humour. However it was the blonde waitress that made the evening for us. She was engaging & funny and enjoyed interacting with everyone at the table while still keeping up the pace of serving on a busy night. Honestly, she upped my score by one. The unpleasant meat platter really was a deal breaker for me.
Great local Greek restuarant. Can get very busy and loud. Also can be a bit squashy as they fit lots of people in on Saturday nights. Food was good, would recommend and come back.
Came here on Friday with a group of 14 for our Christmas kringle and were not disappointed. We ordered the banquet and all the dishes were cooked perfectly. The octopus, the sausages and the saganaki were fantastic. The seafood platter was exceptional and the chicken skewers were excellent. The best dish of the night were the loukoumades. We stuffed ourselves with these and virtually rolled out of the restaurant. Overall the service and the food were great. Will definitely come back in the New Year.
We had a birthday celebration with a group of family & friends. We had the banquet, fantastic food and so much of it. Everything was cooked to perfection. The grilled octopus was to die for, the saganakia was the actual kefalograviera cheese (and thankfully not the squeaky haloumi cheese that others use). Seafood platter, meat platter...yum.. and the loukomathes...yum yum We love our traditional Greek taverna food and we had some fussy guests, no one complained, everyone was so impressed and delighted with the food they ate. And the price was very reasonable for what was provided for us. Well done Mythos House. Will definitely come back here again...
Occasion - pre Christmas get together with group of friends.
Restaurant ambience - busy, humming with high level of energy and comfortable.
Foods - yummy Greek cuisine, sufficient, filling (look can be deceiving)
Service - quick service, prompt arrival of foods, friendly service even though it was very busy. We stayed until the restaurant was closed at midnight, we didn't feel pressured to leave.
Price - reasonably priced
Revisit - for sure!!!
We’ve driven past so many times and seen this place so busy! While tonight (being a Sunday on Cup weekend) was pretty quiet we’re glad we finally stopped by. A group of seven celebrating a birthday...
We started with mixed dips (two for the table) with warm fluffy home made bread... we moved on to two meat platters, a seafood platter and a Greek salad. It was actually too much to eat... the food was tasty, the seafood chargrilled and the calamari a stand out (definitely a favourite for the kids). The only negative was that the service became inattentive - After the food came out we were very much left to it and an apologetic possibly owner came with water when we eventually went to fetch our own - then chased down the bill.
On the whole we couldn’t fault the food and that’s what we came for. We might roll in again on an empty stomach - we’ll be sure to roll back out, or maybe just order a bit less!!!!
Had dinner here for the first time and ill be back!
1. You can book
2. It’s spacious
3. The food is fresh and TASTY we had the banquet!
4. Value for money
I love the fountain out the front too
4.5/5
We visited here on a Friday night, quite early. We were warmly greeted and seated by a man I assume is the owner. Lovely guy! We ordered the banquet with the addition of the rockling fish to the seafood.
Started with the dips, saganaki, dolmades, charred octopus and Greek sausage ... all delicious and cooked extremely well! Only thing is, I prefer pita bread over bread with dips - in saying that the bread was warm and fresh..
continued on with the Seafood platter of fresh and delicate calamari, 2 juicy prawns and the rockling.. all cooked perfectly.. then the meat platter of lamb gyros - not fatty at all, tasty and cooked well, 2 juicy pink lamb cutlets and 2 chicken skewers... oh and lemon potatoes and Greek salad..
we finished off with loukoumades (Greek donuts in honey) and delicious nutty ice cream ... we were too excited and I didn’t take a picture - apologies!
Can’t wait to come back and try other things on the menu :)
Excellent location and friendly staff, mainly the welcoming Boss
The grilled are really good including the seafood but the portion of the appetisers are small

Great Greek cuisine at a reasonable price!
We managed a table without a booking, great service & Amazing food.
We were in and out within an hour & a half.
Will definitely go back.
I’m NOT a massive fan of Greek food... I often find it too basic and lets be honest, similar to something that you could knock up yourself at home on a hot day with some Greek spices and fresh ingredients from Coles BUT that said I went Greek to appease my better half. Taking all that into account - our dinner was fantastic, I felt like I had been transported back to the little Islands we had enjoyed on our travels through the Greece a decade ago. A definite MUST DO if you are ever in the neighbourhood. The venue is LOVELY, not particularly Greek BUT really stunning and the staff very attentive. Delicious!!
Been wanting to go here for a long time and finally got the chance last night. Had the $49 banquet for 10 people and was divine!! Really great food, and really great service. Heaps of food for the price. Will definitely be back!!!
Went for Lunch for my dad's bday, had heard good things from others but wanted to taste for myself, had a group of 13 people and we all jumped on the Banquet and least to say we weren't disappointed one bit.
We started with Mixed dip plates accompanied by fresh baked bread, the Tarama (fish roe caviar), tirokafteri (spicy feta and capsicum) and skordailia (Mashed potato and Garlic) were the winners, this was followed up by Grilled Saganaki, Dolmades, Chargrilled Octopus and Gourmet Sausage as Entrees.
We started the main serving with the Seafood portion of Grilled Calamari and Chargrilled King Prawns, followed by the main meats of Lamb Gyros, Marinated Chicken Souvlaki and Chargrilled Lamb Cutlets, this was all finished off with Loukoumades with Halva Icecream (sweet Sesame and vanilla) and coffee.
A very enjoyable experience and a great feed, would happily go back again and do it all over again, staff were very friendly and very attentive and the food is well worth the money you pay.
Enjoyable evening.
Meat platter for two was quite good although a maybe a bit salty.
Greek salad a little pricey at $11.50.
God friendly service.
I would go back again.
Came here on the weekend with a large group. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Had the set menu and we were generally satisfied with the good. The gyros meat was enjoyable, not fatty (like other Greek places). Overall, it was great value for all that we received and the quality was usually above average.
Decided to take a chance to stop by Mythos House, I'm glad I did. A few friends in tow, we decided in the Set menu. It was a pleasurable challenge.
Things of note are the marinated charcoal fired king prawns, the calamari, octopus and of course lamb.
I recommend the set menu.. I shall be visiting again.
The place feels absolutely homey. It's a touch of fine dining as well but casual at the same time. Visited the restaurant on a very busy Saturday night and was not disappointed!
Maybe a little delay in receiving menus and drinks but food is not to be complained about! Dip platter was delicious; so delicious we ordered two servings ($16 each). Bread was nice, toasty and warm!
For main we shared (between 5 people) a meat platter, Greek salad and Lamb gyros. Meat was all cooked perfectly. Potatoes were full of flavour, asked for some chilli and chilli flakes definitely were a good addition. The plate was a little oily afterwards but it adds a little flavour 😋.
Finally finishing off with a plate of DELICIOUS loukoumades. Absolutely would recommend this to anyone trying this place out for the first time! It's a bit sweet (the syrup) but perfect when the donut ball is drenched in melted ice cream and nuts.
Only complaint would be, maybe they were a little too focused on their bigger tables, as they took a while to clear our dishes, and we had to ask for the bill three times. Otherwise, would recommend!!
Ate here for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. The food was great, the service was good and the prices were reasonable. The ambience is nice, but it would benefit from some background music. Will return.
Really good food and service, will definitely be coming back here. Portions are generous, so much in fact that we could not fit dessert in - next time!!!
Excellent service. Staff are very obliging. The house cum restaurant was nicely setup. The dips were nice but would request the pita bread in lieu of the normal bread. The pita bread was warm and soft. The lamb gyros was magic but a tiny bit oily, but worth it. The chicken souvlaki was amazing. The Greek doughnuts were average. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes.
Good quality food and service, but boy was it noisy - saturday night and packed. Everyone at our table enjoyed the experience but it was damm difficult to hear anyone who was not sitting beside you
I was so extremely impressed with the quality of the food and the service! The house itself is absolutely charming, the staff were so friendly and attentive, but not in an annoying hovering way, and we went for the banquet, only $47 and such a variety of good food, we loved it and will be returning. The Australian tiger prawns were huge and meaty, just delicious, saganaki cooked perfectly and the loukomades (I think) - donuts with halva Ice cream were to die for! I can't wait to come back here again! Well done!
Outstanding!!!!!! One of the best Greek restaurants ever. Portions are incredible and the owner and staff are so kind. Service is incredible. Highly recommend the banquets.
Great local Greek restaurant in the Doncaster area. Ordered the standard banquet which was in all very enjoyable , loved all the maze plates, in particular the saganaki and the vine leaf rolls. Gyros meat was delicious as were the loukomades for dessert. Yum!
Never spotted this funky Greek restaurant before! Used Zomato to look it up. We got the sharing menu for $45 each plus got a bottle of white. Starters were really good - especially the dolmades and dips! The calamari was nice but needed a bit more flavour. The meats were exceptional! Then the icing on the cake was the dessert (we were not expecting it to be that good) but wow the little pastry balls and sauce were amazing. Friendly staff and good price. Will be back soon.
Great food, nice and fresh. I would definitely go back.
Thank you to the cab driver that told me about this place; reasonably priced, absolutely delicious Lamb Gyros, salad, home made pita bread & home made bread, washed down with a Mythos Greek beer.... Sensational meal! Staff were great too
Quality all around. A couple of us dined on a quiet Tuesday night, perhaps 20-25 guests. We had a great experience at this restaurant. The place has been fitted out very nicely and is very clean, the service was excellent and the food was in the top few Greek restaurants of Melbourne in my opinion. The dolmades, calamari and loukoumades were all a highlight. The banquet is the way to go in terms of value, but you will struggle to get through all the food if you aren't starving, don't fill up on bread! Thanks for a great night.
Beautiful food!. This is the best Greek restaurant we have tried to date. The banquet is excellent value..dips, bread, dolmades, sagnaki, sausages, squid, calamari, prawns, lamb chops, lamb, chicken, awesome sticky gooey balls w ice cream desert, and coffee! All cooked fantastically. The restaurant is welcoming and also classy, with fantastic & friendly service. Alcohol served at good fair pricing. Could not fault......we will be back.....thankyou
WOW. The change of ownership has done wonders for this place. I just enjoyed the best greek dinner I have had anywhere. The staff are friendly, polite, funny and professional. As we live quite close this will become a regular dining venue for my family and I. Will also take any guest that wishes to eat wholesome tasty traditional food. Thanks
Beautiful restaurant! Staff were wonderful and had a fantastic experience!! Best Greek food I've ever had!! Must check it out!
Good food and service. We dined here last week and despite a large function, the wait staff were very attentive and the service was faultless. Very good, tasty Greek food was served and offered reasonable value for money. We felt the dips and dolmades lacked that home made flavour - probably because they weren't - and the lamb gyros was on the dry side. Everything else we ordered here was very good, especially the seafood dishes. We would happily return.
Good local Greek. Came here for dads birthday dinner tonight and selected this restaurant for its locality and based on all the positive reviews. We enjoyed the experience. The food was great and the restaurant was relaxed and contemporary. Service was sufficient, but should mention there was one very friendly male waiter. The grilled calamari was tender, fresh and lovely chargrilled. Meats were succulent and perfectly seasoned and the moussaka was delicious! The eggplant dip we shared for entree was lovely and fresh and tasty! Am considering coming back here for a Christmas gathering.
Authentic, delicious Greek Food. My friend and i ate here last week on a reccomendation. Not only is the restaurant beautifully decorated, service was phenomenal, food was even better!
We had the calamari and saganaki for entree; calamari was cooked to perfection, i dont eat alot of cheese but found the saganaki delish.
Mains i had the lamb cutlets and my friend had the Chicken souvalaki - both meals were filling, very large portions and full of flavour.
The owner was loveley offering us free desert, a free drink - all we had to pass becuase we were so full.
i am already planning my next night out to eat there and am dreaming of the summer nights out on the balcony!
Great Service... Great Food. Service was amazing, we had a very bubbly and friendly waiter. Food came out quickly and it was delicious!
Reasonably priced and great atmosphere!
Will be back!
:)
READ THIS BEFORE YOU EAT HERE!!!. I visited with some friends & family, I'm of Greek background & I'll tell you, I'm fussy with my Greek food.
This place met and exceeded my expectations! The meat was tender, the bread was crisp & fresh, the Mediterranean Greek salad was very much similar to a sea side Tavern I use to eat at in Xalastra (A part of Greece where I lived for a while).
The service was great, friendly staff, we even caught a glimpse of the chef & I'll tell you, this guy looked like he knew his stuff, we learn't he was from Greece & had acquired his skills there, he had a cheerful yet serious focused look! (Let's just say he wasn't someone out of a cooking Tafe!)
The environment was very pleasant & at times I felt taken away! A Pocket of Paradise! I'll be returning many times!
Thank you for the amazing experience, Loved It :)
Do yourself a favour & just try this place out, if you have tastebuds that work & just allow yourself to become present & aware of the environment while you feast on their exquisite food... for a few moments laps in time - you may just forget your in Australia! You won't be disappointed.
Fantastic!. I must say I'm so pleased after visiting Mythos House over the weekend! My partner and I first had dinner here some months ago and we're not overly pleased with the general service, food was good but the Manager seemed awfully distracted and all over the place to say the least. We decided to give it another shot and so glad we did! Looks like there's a new manager and all the staff are lovely and accommodating, the food fantastic and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves. We absolutely love this place now and can't wait to eat there again. I'm even making enquiries for my upcoming engagement as I now love it and know we're up for a fantastic time at Mythos! Cudos to the chef and lovely service all round!
This is by far the best Greek restaurant I've been to in a while our group
Of 10 people had the seafood and meat banquet which was fantastic and couldn't finish it all. Well done Mythos will be back again
YUMMM! Really nice Greek re.... YUMMM!
Really nice Greek restaurant. I had the baked lemon lamb. Was delicious! Would absolutely be back again.
Good food with a price tag. We were a group of 17 (5 families). We asked waiter to come out with some entrees. An hour later after the meze (tapas style) entrees came out, the bill racked up to $500. Fortunately we were full but never got a chance to order mains. Drinks came out too slow. We would've liked the chance to order an entree and main and in some way we were to blame accepting the entrees as they came out but the food was tasty and it was good to try a selection of different meals. My opinion, if you go and order an entree and main as most do, you'll be happy with your experience. One of the better Greek restaurants around.
Great greek restaurant. A great resturaunt with good food and ambience in the Doncaster area.
The entrees were fresh and very tasty. Dinner was the lamb souvlaki and lamb cutlets. The lamb was melt in the mouth and the lemon potatoes were full of lemon & thyme flavour .Service was a little slow but not enough to be annoying , the waiters were very friendly and nothing was an issue . It actually gave us time to be able to fit desert in. The loukoumades and particularly the halva ice cream was delicious. We will be taking our greek parents next time . Well worth a visit
Food could be better.... I had a great time here and generally enjoyed the restaurant. My grandma is Greek and I find some of her food was better than here. It was all nice, and the service was wonderful (mind you it was a quiet, Wednesday night) But I found there could be a lot of improving.
Beautiful venue though, lovely staff! The food needs a bit more love.
Great food at Mythos House! .... Great food at Mythos House!
I recommend the lemon lamb, soft juicy and just fell apart. Perfect.
WOW! The food is amazing!!!. Just had the some of the best Greek food in Melbourne. If you are after authentic Greek, you should definitely try Mythos House. The food was fresh and plentiful. For a Wednesday night the place was at full capacity, but the service remained brilliant. The waiter was spot on with his recommendations, and he was very accommodating and considerate to my pregnant wife.
Menu prices (9/10)
Quality of food (9.5/10)
Atmosphere (8/10)
Service (9/10)
Must tries:
Ofto (traditional oven baked lamb) just melted off the bone
Seafood Giouvetsi
Honey Dumplings with Halva Ice-cream (ridiculously good!!!)
Highly recommended *****
LOVE this place!! Came here with some friends for the $55 banquet... It was delicious and a great selection of food! You definately won't leave hungry! Can't wait to come back! I'm so happy there is finally a good Greek restaurant back in the area!!!
At last this place is great. I've been here sooo many times and was disappointed but the last time I was extremely surprised at the quality of food.
"Senasational Restraunt". Today we celebrated a special Christmas lunch with a group of 10 people. A mix of teenagers and adults. We had an amazing time! The food was sensational , seriously could not fault. The staff were amazing, the atmosphere modern and the food presentation was outstanding!
Nothing was a problem for the staff, they were extremely friendly and able to cater for every ones needs. Food was of an exceptional standard and extremely fresh!
To be quite honest . I was sort of turned off the aspect of going back to this restaurant as I had been there previously in the past under the old management. It was a horrible restaurant back then with a bad reputation which unfortunately had left a lasting impression on me. Let me reassure you all.It is nothing like that. It is first class food and service. Good luck to the new owners if they keep this service up they will go far. We will definitely be back again.
P.S We had the banquet it was amazing, so much food and a beautiful variety! Some of the children had the moussaka. It was served so traditionally in the clay pot. I honestly felt like I was on one of the Mediterranean Islands in Greece. The dips are to die for.
Great dining experience. I went to Mythos house for the first time this week and absolutely loved it!!! Great decor, amazing greek food, very fresh and very tasty. The atmosphere was electric, the staff.....very professional. The halva ice cream and the loukoumathes are the best I have ever had....a MUST have.
Will definitely be back!!!!
Wow amazing Greek food and fantastic service. The waiter was fantastic... His customer service spot on and his helpful tips and recommendation on what to order was spot. I will be back for sure. Thanks Mythos
Really great dining experience, the waiter was excellent , great knowledge of what was being served very friendly, the food was delicious and freshest and best tasting Greek food I have ever eaten, great work guys, keep it up
Great night out!. I went to Mythos house for the first time tonight. Greek is my favorite cuisine. I loved it! The food, the waiters, the ambience, everything about the restaurant made me have a really enjoyable night with my friends.
The menu was extensive and everything is full of flavor. Large serves but not overwhelmingly so. Can't wait to go again!
You Feel like you are in Greece... Big congrats to the new owners for a wonderful job they have done of renovating and opening the new MYTHOS HOUSE... The food is to die for.. The lamb just melts in your mouth... Loukoumades mmmmmmm... The atmosphere is soooo peaceful and inviting...Friendly staff, Great Manager who is always coming over and checking that everyone is happy.. Will be def re visiting.. Well done, kai kales thouleies.. xox
From Peggy....
We booked Mythos House for dinner for our wedding anniversary. It was a busy night and despite being at full capacity the service was friendly and the waiters were on the ball. Not being familiar with greek cuisine we selected our meal on recommendation of the waiter and were very happy. As amazing and satisfying as the meal was the dessert was definitely a highlight! Great night with friendly and warm atmosphere, next time we'll take the kids !
Food for thought!. On a beautiful balmy night my friends and I had the time of our lives!!the atmosphere was incredible! The food amazing!! The service was prompt and attentive!! As close to the Land of the Gods as u can get!! Exactly what Melbourne needed!!
Went on a busy Friday night. The food was melt in your mouth. I had the the slow cooked lemon lamb. Desert was Halva ice cream "yum". I recommended it to friends coming down from Sydney they couldn't agree more. They too were very impressed. Order off the mains you can't go wrong.
Great night. Had a wonderful selection of food, love the prawns. The setting and decor superb and excellent, friendly service.
Loved it. I went there for lunch with my family and found a lovely and welcoming restaurant with friendly and helpful staff which prepared us a feast!( which was superb) For the amount of food that we received the price was very reasonable. The coffee and greek dessert was fantastic .We definetly recommend it!
Deliciously Greek!!. Being a non Greek but loving the Greek Cuisine, I always eat out at Greek Restaurants.
This one "Mythos House" has got to be the best by far.
The Service, the Atmosphere but especially the Food is one to talk about.
I enjoyed mostly the feta prawns for entree they were fresh and mouth watering.
The main you can't go past the "giouvetsi" which is casserole lamb in the oven, a traditional greek meal that just melts in your mouth.
To finish the night make sure you have for dessert the halva ice cream with the loukoumia (greek donuts).
What can I say My Compliments to the Chef I will definitely be going back AGAIN!!!
Good Greek. I went there with family and was pleasantly surprised with the ambience of the place. I found the new decor vastly improved and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and found the home made bread served with dips excellent. My favorite dish was the dessert platter! Highly recommend this place
Recommended recently to try Mythos House for traditional Greek Food. Was absolutely amazed at the size of the servings for the price and the quality was superb. Will be saving more room when we go next time for the Mythos homemade Greek donuts and ice-cream. AMAZING!!! Staff were all very courteous and prompt, as i said we will be returning for sure.
We ordered the dips, the feta cheese in filo pastry entre and gyro chocken and chicken souvlaki and everything was perfect. Would definitely recommend.
The food was absolutely scrumptious. The meat was juicy and tender. The potatoes melted in your mouth! The service was fantastic. George the owner was really friendly and accomodating. Desserts to die for, so make sure you leave room. The decor is so clean and inviting.
The food was beautiful. A group of four......a warm welcome at the door and prompt sitting at our reserved table Water was delivered to the table almost immediately and the order for drinks was taken. From then on we were professionally attended to by a female and two male waiters throughout the evening even though the restaurant was very busy. The garlic prawns for the two ladies were very tastefully cooked and presented, . I would definitely go back.
Really good Greek fare. We had a variety of dishes. The seafood was really enjoyable. Main complaint was that lamb was a bit dry so had to ask for extra Tzatziki. Apart from that the waiters were really keen to take our plates away just as we finished eating, I personally find the hovering a bit off putting.
Recently dined here with a large group. The most easiest way to go with a large group was one of the set banquets.
