Amant De La Nourriture
+3.5
Been here an handful of times, and service is inconsistent, but food is usually good. First time dining here, we call in and the kitchen is still open, drive in and get seated. Order our food and the waiter comes back to inform us the kitchen was closed, but they were "willing" do make easy meals. Order a pizza, no pizza dough left, and pretty much anything we picked, the kitchen didn't have. They ended making an entire pizza to make up for the hassle and it was okay.
The next time we dined, the food was lovely. Seafood was amazing. Rather good experience.
Now, third and last time I visited. Brought a couple of girlfriends with me to have a baby free evening for all of us, and I'd recommend the venue. Place is packed (good for business), but it was horrible noise. Just people shouting over one another. There was nothing to absorb some of the noise. Food comes out, chips were raw. You could tell they weren't cooked enough by the colour. Send them back, the next lot was burnt. Come coffee and dessert. Coffees were average, slightly bitter and gelatos weren't amazing.
Won't stop us for visiting again, food just is a bit inconsistent.
If you're after a nice intimate setting, during the week is the best time to go or so, we've found.
One to go out of your way for; absolutely stunning summer evening venue sitting outside, amongst a beautifully lit - comfortable - intimate, large scale authentic italian country setting.
Most items hand made, friendly staff, great with kids, food is fantastic and great value for money.
Fantastic
We stopped by for a late lunch on a wintery Saturday. It was pretty quiet with one big family group and a lovely older couple plus our family of five. Atmosphere is amiable, slightly dated and genuine Italian. Service was really friendly and attentive. We stuck to pizzas and salad. Pizzas were hot, authentic and delicious. Salad was good. Everything came quite quickly. Ten thumbs up from us.
I read the reviews beforehand so I knew we were definitely in for the worst, or best, dining experience of our lives. Intriguing! Perhaps it's better when it's quieter. Or better to stick to pizzas. I don't know. We thought it was really good and well worth a diversion on a long drive from Sydney to Ocean Grove.
Place 3+, ambience 3, pizzas 4+, service 4+. That's a 4.
