Good Thai food and deserves more than a 3.7. To be honest a basic sort of setup but that does not bother me one bit when the food is this good.
Tasty food with great service.
We came for our 28th wedding anniversary dinner.
Huge seating area and restaurant but it was a Sunday before Xmas and not many patrons.
The young server was so courteous and obliging.
Our food was great, pad see chicken and a prawn dish and tasty.
No room after main course so we walked on the pier to see a great sunset.
Special mention of the young blonde server .. in fact both ladies were wonderful.

We wanted healthy and good quality food. This Thai place looked great on reviews and we wanted to check it out. It was during the Melbourne Cup so it was incredibly busy but only one serving staff was at hand due to staff calling in 'sick'. We felt sorry for the lady left in charge, she didn't stop moving all night and did her best to take orders over the phone whilst serving seated guests. Our food arrived at a reasonable time considering the circumstances, about 20minutes. We ordered fried rice, mixed platter of starters, duck curry and tom yum soup.
The food was excellent, much better than we expected in most restaurants in Mornington. We loved all the dishes, presentation was also good and the staff always apologetic for delays yet professional and helpful.
We would definitely come again. It tasted fresh, authentic and well cooked. It's now our favourite in the area! We'd be impressed if we can find another to match this quality.
Takeaway option is also good but best to pick up during busy periods.
We came to this place on a Monday evening. We were impressed by how busy this place got throughout the night and how the service pressure was held together by the only staff on the floor. The food was tasty and i recommend it if you are looking for a straight forward SE Asian cuisine come here!
Had quite acceptable takeaway from here. Spring rolls very nice. Lemongrass prawns, BBQ pork and Massaman prawns - food flavours, very mild so ask for it spiced up if you like it medium or hot. Reasonable prices and service very quick.
Aside from looking like an abandoned building, the food is actually pretty good by peninsula standards, only a bit pricey. Expect to pay 25 for a green curry and rice. If that's not enough to turn you away you will most likely enjoy your experience, until you receive the bill anyway.
Didn't eat in but had take away from here, typical Thai sweat and spicy and not too expensive will come back here, better value and quality than other Thai in the area.

Som kind of wonderful. The seaside spot of Dromana has grown from a sleepy holiday stop to an affluent summer playground. Two indicators to that effect are an increasingly glamorous supermarket that stocks gourmet products on par with Toorak, and a very good Thai restaurant on Point Nepean Rd.
A stone's throw from the Dromana pier, Som Thai offers more authentic food than many Melbourne Thai restaurants. The entree of pandan chicken presented four tasty and tender parcels infused with delicate pandan flavour. Our lemongrass prawns were full of plump pieces of seafood and excellent stir-fried vegetables with a discernible kick of lemongrass. And the duck red curry was a creamy and luscious dinner with loads of delicious duck, vegies and the unexpected tang of pineapple pieces. With jasmine tea and steamed rice to soak up all that curry sauce, dinner was just $60 before tip, and only $44 with an Entertainment card voucher.
On a chilly Saturday night, the large dining room had only four or five tables full but I'm sure it gets packed out when the summer hoardes descend. Service was friendly if a little nervous - the cause a fairly young and new staff member, but without mistakes and with a genuine customer service focus.
Dined here on Sat night, last minute booking and easy to get in, quite a large restaurant so tables always seem available. Food was delicious and fresh. We enjoyed the fish cakes to start, then thai green chicken curry and spicy lamb with coconut rice. Our favourite dish was the spicy lamb. Soft succulent pieces of lamb cooked well and with a good hit of chilli that worked so well with the soft sweet coconut rice. Roti was very nice too. We were too full to enjoy dessert. Recommend this place and also in the entertainment book so you get a nice little discount at the end also with your voucher. Will return.
Fantastic restaurant and service! Flavoursome food throughout all dishes. Beef salad to die for! Chicken pad Gra pow(basil & chilli) very tasteful. Seafood hot plate and pad see ewe very nice too. Very friendly staff. Will make sure to come here next visit to the Mornington Peninsula.
Some of the best Thai I've had in a long time. I couldn't fault anything the service was great the food was more than exceptional and I would highly recommend this for anybody that loves Thai food and anybody that doesn't like Thai food as we converted some people tonight! We had the Spicy Lamb, Red Duck Curry, Loads of Coconut Rice, Satay Chicken Skewers,

Service: Really attentive service.
Food: We had the “Golden bags” entree. Really nice. We had the whole Barramundi. OMG. Absolutely Devine. Mouth tingling from the beautiful spicy ness of this dish.
Look the frontage could really do with a make over - Open the whole front up with French sliding doors so people know it’s open. We order takeaway from here and it’s also so quick and just as delicious.
Really lovely experience dinning in tonight. Hope I didn’t scare the other customers dismantling the fish :)
This is the second time I've had dinner at this delightful restaurant. We walked in at around 7:15 and out at 8:00. We had just missed the dinner rush and so didn't have to wait long to be served. Our waitress was polite, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was fresh and delicious, the seafood, perfectly cooked and the curry seasoned with just enough heat. My favourite dish is the Green curry chicken, it's so creamy with just a little heat.
The food here is fresh and full of flavour and last night we were served by the happiest, friendliest person imaginable! She made our already delicious meal an even more enjoyable experience. We regularly get take-away or eat-in at Som Thai because we love it so much.
Really enjoyed the food. The server suggested Tofu Penang curry, which was nice.
The serving size was good as well..

The food was fantastic, now that the COVID-19 restrictions are eased, it is nice to be able to sit and enjoy some of the best Thai food. now over to my wife.
