Review Hog's Breath Cafe - Dubbo

I had what can only be described as a very inconsistent experience. I went the The Shire on Sat 12/3/2022. It was previously a Hogs Breath (I understand it has the same owner) so expected the menu to be similar. The female servers were absolutely brilliant. They were really engaged when speaking with me and other customers (my work requires me to observe service-related behaviours). In contrast, the only young male server was completely disengaged and delivered a lacklustre service. I ordered the calamari as an entree and pork medallions as main course. Both dishes were very basic and no better than what one would cook at home. Very underwhelming. A couple and their son at the next table were completely ignored after being given their menus. I was served twice (for a soft drink, the dessert and coffee) while they were completely ignored. They ended up walking out. The attentiveness of the female wait staff does not outweigh the poor quality of the food and their ignoring of the next table. I will not go back and recommend giving it a wide berth.

Just arrived from Sunshine Coast. Googled Dubbo Eateries and The Shire stood out as a place we could get to choose from a good variety of meals at a reasonable price. We were greeted by 2 lovely young ladies. Shown to a table and made to feel very welcome. We chose Steak and Veg and a Steak Sandwich. Delivered quickly and fantastic meals. This place was busy for a Monday night, busy is a great sign. The Owners were so lovely and sure made everyone feel incredibly comfortable. We recommend The Shire highly wether wanting a table for 2 or a place where everyone in a Family will find something that they will enjoy. Thanks so much for a extremely warm and welcoming evening. Excellent vibe and friendly atmosphere. Greeting was lovely and service very fast. Our meals were lovely, and even better they had brookvale ginger beer, which we love. Enjoyed some SA wine and were promptly looked after during our visit! Well done guys! You have lovely staff and we had a great time! 5 stars!

Staff were very attentive, friendly and did a great job not only at our table but every table around us. Meals were very good! We had steaks which were slightly undercooked but they were still delicious. Strongly recommend this place for a great atmosphere and meal.

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted friendly and shown to our table, service all night was first class. I shared the meat tower for two which was flawless and more than enough for two hungry eaters. Chrissy took great care to listen and her help with our choice was great. Will eat here again next time I’m in town.

Brilliant!! Delicious meals and great range on the menu. Owner is lovely and had a nice chat with my Dad and I. All staff were very accommodating and friendly and the service was quick. After the change in ownership (was previously a hogs breath), the decor was changed and now gives a more adult and relaxing atmosphere (although still kid friendly). Well worth a visit, will definitely be coming back next time we’re in Dubbo!!

Giving them 5 stars for their hospitality and great customer service. Waiting staff were quick on their feet, attentive and very pleasant. The place and ambience was good. Nice place to spend your evening. Food was alright. Prices were not too bad either.

Very homely, relaxed and intimate feel to the place. We were downstairs. Food was fantastic, about average sized portions and at pub pricing. Definitely worth a try, would definitely go back.

Ordered a delivery meal , Ordered a meal at 7:18 Received at 8:43 after ringing 15 minutes at the hour mark about where it was. Hogs breath is only 5 mins away from the hotel I’m staying at, $50 for a duo meal that was stone cold and lifeless. I wouldn’t usually leave feedback like this but the people on the end of the phone Were not even apologetic . No serviettes , no salt and pepper , no knife or fork, small portions even though I paid extra for veggies????? Never again �

The staff last night were not only helpful and professionally dressed, they were friendly and warm. The food was amazing, and when you consider the amount of food you get for the price you pay, it’s not even all that expensive either. One of the only places I’ve been that actually does a proper blue steak, I’d recommend Hoggies wherever you go!

After a careful scrutiny of all the restaurants that allowed chargeback to Quest, we decided on Hogs and we weren’t disappointed. The food was awesome, the chicken wings were just great and the chicken grande as the main was filling. The best was their curly and crispy fries. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who love Ozzie food!

I ordered a beef burger. Waited for nearly an hour, Got served crispy chicken burger. The waiter said if its okay if I just have the chicken instead, otherwise i will wait for another 15 minutes for the replacement. So I had the chicken and it was okay. But I wish I had the beef burger in the first place.

Not impressed at all with the food we were served we were not informed of the extra charge of the veggies and they were cold and the food all up was average at best will not be returning to hogs breath again very disappointed

Went for lunch Saturday. Service was a bit slow, staff didn't come back near us until we shut an open menu. Friend ordered fish and chips, dearest fish and chip ever. $24.50 for 4 thin pieces of fish and some curly fries. If she had known that was it she would have ordered something different. I loved the chicken Caesar wrap it's worth the $15, as is the chicken burger my niece had.

We spent a significant amount of money for a group of 8, visiting and celebrating our daughters 🎉birthday. Unfortunately all meals were served cold there was far too much hickory sauce on the ribs and very few curly fries (which I probably wouldn't have eaten anyway as I don't like cold potato.)I never complain but given the amount we paid I expected better... went to a local pub the next night and had an amazing meal for half the price. Won't be returning to Hogs as I can't afford to throw away my hard earned money.

Dreadful. Rude staff and very poor customer service. Waited over an hour for our food in a restaurant that wasnt busy. Food was delicious when it came, however not very good value for money. Sadly the 10 of us won’t be back.

Had to wait over an hour for our food, and when it came it wasn’t to how we ordered it but my partner and myself were that hungry we just ate it and were gone in matter of minutes. And the food was horrible. Had to pay in full still after waiting so long and with a fucked up order, not impressed not going there again!

Service was good until our waitress brought my friend her pine splice without the cream that it’s intended to have. My boyfriends chicken parmigiana was served without any cheese, my fiends burger had the wrong sauce. And when my friend ordered another cocktail they brought the other one again claiming it to be the correct drink. 3 out of four meals were wrong and it wasn’t even busy. There were more than 10 empty tables. Was very disgruntled.

The 18 hr steak was so beautiful and tender. Both of us loved our meals. Our waitress was certainly an exceptional professional. She was a very pretty lady with a dark complexion,she is certainly an asset for this restaurant.well done everyone.

Charged us around $35 extra. While I checked the bill, I found that 2 items we didn’t even order. I asked the staff, why am I overcharged? She replied, sorry, i included next tables food in your bill! What a shame!

Went for a birthday lunch yesterday, asked for a rare steak, told steaks are pre cooked so medium rare best I could have, so ordered that, steak was very much well done, grey all though and it was Cold, when I told staff was told my expectations were too high for a pre cooked steak and she could reheat it again. I could not eat it. Thanks for a horrible birthday lunch

After arriving at the restaurant at 7pm, waiting 20 minutes to be seated, then waiting over an hour nearly two hours for our meals, the table next to us that sat down after us are served before us. When approaching the waitress to ask how much long we need to wait she says another 5 minutes. Finally after another 5 minutes 6 out of 8 meals come out. One meal isn't even right, they forgot the calamari on one and the steak for 5 of the meals wasn't even cooked correctly we had rare when we had asked for medium. It has taken near 2 hours to bring out a Caesar salad something so simple. Still currently waiting on the rest of our meals.....not happy Jan.
