Don't like fish and chips? Me neither! But the Psari shop's fish and chips is unlike any other! We feasted on grilled octopus and seared tuna with a side of steak cut chips! The ambience is fun and very cool with its walls plastered in old newspaper clippings! And the best part? Psari is the greek word for fish!
Came on a Sunday night and craving fish and chips I had a quick look on zomato and found this place.
I'm surprised by its Location, simply when you think of Dulwich Hill you think more in the area of where Zeus and Tellaballs are.
I knew Dulwich Hill had a train station but I had no idea where it was and now I know!
I like the modern Trendy look it has and with 2 big wooden tables inside which can fit 10 people per table and very heavy wooden tree trunk seats (I'm sure no one can steal them, they are just too heavy) and a small amount of seating outside.
First thing i noticed with the menu is whiting which is not very common in a fish and chip shop.I had the Premium
Pack which was a little of everything. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size. Not stingy on the chips, good sized fish and potato scallop. Calamari was not chewy but I have been told if you don't get that extra string in the calamari when you eat it,(I'm not sure if this is fact) it's not fresh but rather processed calamari and it had no string. But still tastes nice. The tartare sauce didn't taste the way it thought it would. Beetroot salad was great. My fiancé liked the food more than myself, she wants to come back to try a burger.
Value wise it's reasonable for what you get.
Nil issues with service,it did come out at a reasonable rate but half way eating my fish,my fiancé did say to have it crumbled but I was eating battered fish! Oh well once you start and it nice, you don't mind too much.
Pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my meal
Healthy options for a fish and chip shop! The grilled fish and salads are actually good!
The deep fried stuff is good too, particularly the squid.
