Another fabulous meal in WA. Tonight ate at Yarri Restaurant in Dunsborough. Just the best meal. Delicious. When I booked, I was asked if I’d like to sit at the kitchen bar. Would I! Of course! Best seat in the house. The kitchen was ready to go when I sat down, the chefs almost twitching and raring to go with the service. The menu features lots of bush tucker and local produce. Many of the dishes are or can be made GF and it was so hard to pick just what to have. First: Burnt pumpkin, nori, togarashi. An amazing dish of sweet burnt pumpkin purée set atop crisp wafers of a mix of nori and tapioca, sprinkled with a few baby shiso leaves and a sprinkle of chilli and maybe sesame seeds (not sure). Just fabulous. Second: Kingfish, quandong, yuzu kosho, plum. OMG what a sensational blend of tastes. The raw kingfish sits atop splodges of dashi cream, with thin slices of what seemed to be slightly dehydrated sticky plum slivers, yuzu kosho splashed over, a few tiny squirts of (I think extra virgin) oil, sprinkled with samphire, and a couple of other seaside greens. Could eat that all day. Both these washed down with a nice crisp Snake + Herring white wine blend. Third: Skirt steak, kohlrabi, carrots, burnt onion, koji. Usually comes with black barley which, sadly, I can’t have but they added in some extra greens (chargrilled broccolini). The burnt onion were fine thin onion stalks with tiny flower buds. It was delicious. Just delicious. Picked a Snake + Herring Cab Sav, Merlot, Malbec wine for this one and it was so smooth, just wonderful with the steak. Reckon it may have been even better (if that’s possible) slightly chilled. Red wine is usually better slightly chilled which is how it’s meant to be served. Not warm. Remember room temperature in France isn’t usually hot. Lastly for dessert, chocolate, strawberry, rose. Rose scented and flavoured sheets of meringue with a rich chocolate mousse, chocolate soil, strawberry sorbet, and little slivers of strawberry. Usually comes with chocolate biscuit crumbs but I didn’t miss that element. Gorgeous. Finished off with a really good coffee. Don’t often drink coffee as it can make me feel a bit off (think it’s the caffeine) but it seemed right for this dinner and so it was. The chefs are so generous with their help and seemed to really like telling me what different things were, how they were made, and just chatting when service allowed. This restaurant is so worth putting on your ‘must-visit’ list. Wish I’d discovered it earlier! Thanks Shirley Harring (Hand Sourced) for the delicious mag email! Happy Little Coeliac! Thanks guys!

We had dinner last night for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was amazing! In fact faultless - staff are so friendly, attentive and professional, food is to die for (particularly the scallops), restaurant is gorgeous... comfortable and beautifully presented- cannot speak highly enough of Yarri and will be going back.

I've wanted to check out Yarri in Dunsborough for a while. Finally, I've made the trip down South with Mary!
The decore of Yarri hits my spot, minimalistic with the black iron lighting fixtures.
I love Yarri's menu; it changes every week. It attracts people like me who loves trying out new restaurants and new menu!
29 September - 3 October menu
sourdough/ evoo
entrée beetroot/ goat ricotta/ sunrise lime/ kunzea - I love this dish, although I am not a big fan of beetroot or goat ricotta. As a person who loves trying out new food items, I can say that the beetroot and the goat ricotta and kunzea harmonised the dish
main pork collar/ mushroom/ wild leeks/ muntries rocket salad - It's a scrumptious dish of pork collar, the muntries gives it a fruity flavour.
dulcey / passionfruit/ miso/ black sesame - It's an eye-opening dish, the first time I tried miso salted caramel, and it's delightful to my pallet.
The staff were very attentive to our needs and met our dietary requirements.
If I live in the area, I will continuously check what's their weekly menu to try them out.

How great is it when high expectations are exceeded?!! This is our experience at Yarri’s. I’m the sort of guy that (time permitting) will research a lot before committing to a special meal out. And a month ago when looking for fine dining experiences in the Margaret River region, Yarri’s popped up. Aaron Carr has impeccable credentials, and we’ve eaten at Vasse Felix quite a few years ago and were well impressed, so when we couldn’t get a confirmed booking at Miki’s in Margs River, I was very pleased to get a lunch booking at Yarri’s.
Decor, ambience, crockery, glassware 5/5. Very relaxed, casual and classy. Our hostess, Sal, (give yourself a well deserved pat on the back - or treat yourself to your favourite cocktail 😉) - as a business partner, was warm, welcoming and instantly put you at ease, making us feel like good friends. My family still think I’m a bit queer, but I love using people’s names when I’m out dining, and I applaud the way you made a point of using our names when addressing us ☺️ - it’s the little things!
When I book a fine dining experience, as a passionate chef, I tend to have high expectations, and it’s very seldom that I’m disappointed. What I hope for is an experience that surpasses my own skill levels, and today Yarri’s did that for me. Upon reading the menu several days ago, my wife - bless her - was a little sceptical. “I’m not a fan of beef. Peanut butter and jelly??!!” Relax, I assure her, ‘trust the chef’ I say. And sure enough, you guys came through and well and truly delivered the goods. Sal, thank you so much for taking the time to share some of your history, and struggles through these Covid times. It must be a truly harrowing journey and my heart goes out to all business people doing the hard yards in these unprecedented times. Every course was a mini journey in impeccable taste sensations. Undoubtedly, you know what it’s like introducing someone new to a degustation experience and we had the pleasure of doing that today, including the well thought out wine matching option. From the sourdough starter to the dessert, each course was truly a delight! Creative textures, flavour combos and first rate presentation, with professional yet personable service. You guys are truly nailing it, and deserve all the success, and hopefully prosperity and rewards that come with the challenges of doing your own business. Thank you for a truly memorable experience that we will treasure for many years, and will tout loud and long to anyone coming down south for a break away. God bless you all! 🥰🥰

Been before so this is an update.
Even better than before. Great place to do gourmet share plates.
Great meals and side dishes. Service so good. Totally helpful. Advice spot on. Our table was 12 people, mains were focused on the large lamb and beef plates with amazing sides of Cabbage, roasted potatoe and green beans. All better than you expect and so different to home cooking.
Come and be surprised.

I would give it a 4.5 ranking for this restaurant, attentive and friendly staff. I couldn't give it a 5 star due to its overall. Food was fantastic like I absolutely loved the fish and my husband loved the venison however lack of varieties. They stated 4 courses menu however not with side dishes and the staff wasn't aware or sure when we asked. We would expected a bit more with the price we paid. I will recommend to friends for celebration but I don't like I will come back again.

On my first night in Dunsborough visiting from Melbourne I was lucky enough to eat at Yarri. The food was out of this world and the matched wine offering was also a highlight. I didn’t have a favorite course because they were all exceptional. The staff were endearing and a special shout out to Stacey, Harvey and Abbey for your passion for service and presenting your dishes. Highly recommend.

Fabulous meal as always!! We've been here about a year ago and had a simply great meal. This time, the food was impeccable. We particularly enjoyed the sirloin cooked on the bone, perfectly medium rare and the roast cauliflower was perfect.

This was the best food experience of our trip down south. The food was beautifully and thoughtfully curated. It was clear the staff all worked to enhance the experience for their customers and the setting was really lovely at night as well. Highly recommend trying this place, you won't regret it.

We went there last night for my husband’s birthday and would definitely go again. The staff and food were exceptional and although a 4 course set menu with 2 choices they accomodated our food allergies as we let them know in advance. The dessert was amazing! Well worth the visit.

Can't fault this restaurant. I like the set menu , so not having to choose except the mains. Amazing blend of unlikely spices and ingredients that made my taste buds tingle. Our waiter was one of the best we have ever experienced. Proud to have this restaurant in our home town.

We had an incredible meal at Yarri last week and I simply can't speak highly enough of the entire customer experience. A beautiful venue, friendly and knowledgeable staff and stunning food. I have severe dietary restrictions and Yarri went above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating, making sure I was well looked after. This is hands down the best restaurant I've been to in Western Australia. Brilliant.
