The baked cheesecake is simply delicious! It’s a very light, fluffy cake and not too heavy or sweet which I prefer. Reminds me of the Japanese cheesecakes (such as Uncle Tetsu) although not quite as light as the latter.
The ultimate in comfort food, Aviv Cakes and Bagels has a delectable range of beautiful pastries and breads in their window to lure you into the store. The smell of bread and pastry is so delicious, and this large bakery has a lot to choose from. You can dine in, but we chose a few yummy pastries to take home.
The raspberry frangipane tart was so soft and aromatic, with a beautiful thin and crispy pastry case. Similarly, the pastry on the caramel walnut tart was equally as good. The nutty filling was simply amazing. My favourite however, was the poppy seed horseshoe pastry. Something different to my usual choices, this pastry was divine. The abundance of poppy seeds gave it a nutty flavour, and it was a moist and flavoursome filling inside the divine pastry.
Aviv gets very busy, but the staff are friendly and helpful and service didn't feel rushed at all. The prices are quite reasonable, making this a lovely bakery to stop by for a sweet or savoury treat. I can't wait to return to try their amazing looking bagels.
Best cakes and cookies in glen huntly. I love everything about this bakery. Life is too short to say no to CAKE
Coffee cake 🍰
Oh god it was so so yummy 😋
Coffee cakes are the best.
Different types cookes some are jam filled some are chocolaty some are very soft it feels like a cotton in mouth. These yummy treats are freshly baked so I would totally recommend it. Can’t get enough of this I might gain more weight eating and not regretting it at all because these treats are amazing. Everything about this store is amazing 😍😋
Simply the BEST!!! Nothing else needs to be said. Go to Aviv Cakes and Bagels, if you haven’t already?
Bagels and pastries are absolutely amazing. Always packed...because it’s that good. The cheese danish is my personal favorite, but the pear and chocolate cake is also amazing.
tonight we had an amazing dinner around at a friends place and for dessert they served a tasty lemon tart from Avivs. I’m a fan of the lemon tart and while my favourite will always be my wife’s seriously tasty lemon version this one was pretty close to perfect in terms of the filling. Strong on citrus and presented very well. Pastry was a little hard but benefited from time resting outside of the fridge. A good option that you could claim as home made if you felt like cheating.

Called into Aviv Cakes for a few slices and cakes to take home for afternoon tea. This place has a certain classic appeal and as far as interiors go, I suspect, hasn’t changed much in recent times. The cake selections are quite traditional also with vanilla slices, bubka and plenty of fruit topped flans.
We took home a chocolate bubka, vanilla slice and due to my fixation on trying to find the perfect fruit mince pie I nabbed me one of them to try.
The bubka was delicious chocolate brioche like and wasn’t overly sweet which I very much enjoyed. There was also a enjoyable rich vanilla taste about the custard in the vanilla slice. Both of these I would have again. The fruit mince pie was a let down. It wasn’t anything to write home about... much better out there and also much worse.
When I was first introduced to challah, I didn't think it could get any more delicious. Well, it turns out that there was challah V2.0 - sultana challah. Double the sweetness, and double the happiness. That's why Aviv is my happy place. It's impossible to be in the vicinity of the area and leave without getting something from Aviv. The bagels, chocolate babka, and fruit danishes and tarts are out of this world. Even the humble vanilla slice is a picture of perfection, and tasted like perfection!
There's no hype to be associated with Aviv, just good old-fashioned baking done with love. The ladies behind the counters are super friendly and helpful, and I really enjoy their interactions with return customers. It's such a wholesome and happy affair!
Coffee definitely needs improvement but who really cares when the baked goods are what dreams are made of.
One of the cakes for my husbands birthday was a flourless chocolate number from here and it was so delicious my dieting sister who is about to get married practically ate half the cake. Great little discovery
I'm rating this a 4 because I had about half a teaspoon of the lemon custard tart and it was amazing (it tastes more like a lemon curd but I'm not going to argue with them!). Everything looks great without being over the top, the bakery does seem unassuming from the street but definitely worth visiting. Next time I'm getting cheesecake, orange cake and about all of their lemon tarts.
This place gets five stars because there's no way it can improve. Try as I might I just can't find anything I'd change about Aviv.
There should be a neon sign above the front door warning the customer that resistance will be futile once they enter the premises.
This is not the place for the diet conscious. The cabinets are crammed with works of art; the flourless chocolate cakes, the tarts, the individual babkas, and not a single substitute for sugar or cream in sight. The recipes should be heritage listed.
When I tuck into a cake I feel too cruel. And guilty. All that hard work creating such beauty, demolished in an instant. But all I care about is the fix.
Aviv's biscuits are like no other. They make much better gifts than the traditional shortbreads at Christmas. I usually buy a gift box and fill it up. My favourites are the meringue shells with the ganache centres.
I can't think of a downside. Staff are friendly and helpful and if you can't wait till you get home to eat those morsels of delight, you can sit at a table, if you can find a vacant seat, with a latte by your side and scoff down a freshly baked cheese Danish.
This place is the real deal.
If you're on a diet, my advice is, give the steamed veggies a rest for a couple of hours and indulge. You won't be sorry.

AVIV is not close to home, however it is worth the trip to buy a few pieces for afternoon tea, or served as desserts after dinner.
The window display is a bit of disappointment. If a passer-by does not know about its product will not stop and check out this gem.
My wife and I order the following:
Spinach Quiche
Vegetable Quiche
Raspberry Friand
Babka Isreali
Vanillia Slices
The quiches have good amount of vegetable fillings, baked with the smooth savoury custard in the pastry case. A couple of quiches can be a meal for the day.
The Raspberry Friand is a bit sweet for me. The filling looks baked cheese cake, but in fact it is almond meal.
This is the first time I have Chocolate Babka Isreali. Babka is made of a rich brioche dough, light and not not doughy like normal bread.
The filling is a real test of a good Vanilla slice. The pastry cream or creme patissiere must be flavoured by vanilla pod, light yellow colout, and slightly thick and not runny.
We give cakes and pastries we have eaten thumbs-up.
A few great treats, some savory, some sweet.
We had some quiches, some savory trinagles followed by a sweet puff-pastry treat filled with chees-cake filling.
There is a selection of about 3 or 4 type of quiches, and about the same variety of savory triangles.
Surprisingly doesn’t look like much from the outside. However, there’s a reason why this cute little bakery is an establishment in this area.
Such a great treat.

📝: Since Aviv Cakes and Bagels was so highly recommended by @hello.imnikki , I couldn’t help but to head there for their bakeries. And since Nikki recommended literally EVERYTHING, I kind of got carried away and bought way more than ai planned to, which I don’t regret.
❤️: Absolutely loved the Chocolate Babka, so rich in flavor and perfect in texture. The Spinach Quiche was creamy and super tasty, especially when served steaming hot from the oven. There’s an endless range of bakeries to try here so will definitely have to go back again.
Best lemon tart you will ever eat. Choc almond cake is also amazing. Basically the only place I bother getting baked goods from, warning it will ruin other bakeries for you...
I always pre-order my Bagels by 8.00am to collect at 12.00. Then I just order as Inspired when I arrive! I never leave without a Mushroom Quiche and a bunch of sweet treats.
THE BEST BAGELS in Melbourne ✅💝🤩
This is an always busy cafe but they make every effort to smile and serve you good. Very helpful with exemplary service. Sitting capacity limited so either be patient or takeaway. Everything is imao pretty good. A place where you will return and recommend frenzy and family.
