In my opinion most authentic Thai in Eltham. Had the stir fried chilli, basil chicken and also garlic pepper chicken store fry. Both very tasty, plenty of veg and also decent level of spice, authentically done. Well priced too for Thai takeaway, and friendly service. Would certainly be my pick of the Thai food in area having tried them all.
Reliable and consistent. This is my local go-to for Thai take away. The food is good and when dining in the service is attentive, amidst a nice atmosphere.
Food was exceptional, came out fast and the service was very professional and friendly. The food was also presented very well. Will definitely be going back.
Thai food is always a winner for flavour and this place is certainly no exception. The Tom Yum soup was one of the best I've had and the green curry was also delicious.
However, there were one or two things about the meal that detracted from the overall quality. For example the tofu used was the harder variety of tofu which was a little tough and not overly enjoyable in an otherwise nice curry. The same tofu was used in the noodle stir fry which almost made the dish unpleasant.
In addition, the vegetable Tom yum soup ordered did have a piece of chicken in it. Fortunately it was not a big deal for the person eating it but if a dish is ordered off a vegetarian meal, you would hope that something like this doesn't happen.
Other than that all the food at the table was very enjoyable and well liked.
The service was also very friendly, quick and attentive which was a big plus
Overall, some really nice aspects about the evening and some things that need a bit of work but I would definitely come back here for local Thai or to grab some Thai takeaway
Always friendly and accomadating. Food consistently good. We visit once a month. Our 1st Choice restaurant to dine out. Comfortable and clean. Reasonably for quality food.
A spur of the moment decision to dine here after heading into Eltham. Well...we were pleasantly surprised! Great meal , great service and enjoyed the atmosphere too. Will definitely be back to try many of the other dishes that I saw other diners have.
My Thai friend always tells me, if there is no picture of the late King in a Thai restaurant, it's not really authentic. I didn't see his late Royal Highness anywhere during our visit to Nongkhai in Eltham, but what I did see was a neat, well thought out table plan, wonderfully attentive service and great food.
For me, the best thing about the place was the design. There was simply a great sense of having your own space to converse, not jammed in against too many tables.
Hood vegetarian options, including no fish sauce or shrimp paste in the curry meant my vegetarian was very happy, and although the Gang Penang curry was a little heavy with fish sauce, it was still rich, luxurious and tasty. Great roti bread, beer that comes in a glass, not just a bottle, and an excellent Yum Toa Fu were the stand-outs of the night.
Well be heading back for sure. Delicious.
Food was very nice. Although the restaurant was pretty full, we still got fast and friendly service and our glasses were continuously filled. No complaints.
We had really pleasant dinner at Nongkhai tonight. A group of six of us share a range in entrees and main dishes along with rice and roti. All beautifully present and full of flavour you'd associate with Thai food. The staff were attentive and helped us select our dishes and the quality. We were really satisfied at the end of the evening.
Have been here to eat a few times and also have got take away from here. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Value for money and the food is amazing. Will always go here when I need to get my Thai food fix :)
