Review The Sultans Table - Enmore

Leeanne Aquilina
My husband and I went there tonight. Although the service was very friendly it's was very lacking attentiveness. We had to help ourselves to the drink fridge and waited over 30mins for our food. You may not think that's a big deal but we were the only customers. The food was delicious, loved the lamb and chicken cooked over the coals and the bread was delicious too.

An average Turkish cuisine restaurant. Their set menu prices is not expensive but to my view you don't get what you pay for it. Next time I would just request what I like rather than a set menu price.

This used to be my favourite restaurant - a long time ago. Unfortunately, over time the prices have gone up, and the quality of the service has gone down. Tonight, I had a large black hair in my food, for the second time (I also had this experience last time I was there). One main came out a full 15-20 minutes before the other. The mixed shish plate is by far the most expensive in the neighbourhood, at $38, and unlike pretty much every other place around, it comes with no dips, making it overly plain and not that enjoyable. The cheapest dip is a crazy $12 – so you're looking at a $50 main. After paying that, the icing on the cake was the woman serving coming over while my daughter was halfway through her dessert, snapping at us to hurry up because they needed the table. Considering we were paying $72 for a really average meal for one adult and one child, and we had only been there for about an hour at most, this really put the experience over the top. Never. Again. There are plenty of better places to eat on Enmore Road. Rude, average, unhygienic. Stay away.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely Saturday-night dinner at The Sultan's Table. Although the establishment was extremely busy, we were served quickly and efficiently, and our waiter, Emre, was wonderful. The food was fantastic and well-presented, we were very satisfied with our meal! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Food menu is great with reasonable prices. Sadly however, only 3 stars given due to my dine in experience being well below expectation. Having to wait extensive times for food and having to ask multiple times for water, drinks and bread left bad impression. Especially when I had to get up and get things on my own. Having to ask 5 times for the same thing is somewhat below standard. Staff seem unable to cope with only 6 table services but venue made the Take Away and home delivery more of a high priority over their dine in patrons. Since that seems to be the case on more than this single occasion, it's unlikely I would recommend or return to have a dine in experience.

Their perfectLy textured Turkish bread and assortment of dips earn this place 5 stars alone. Outrageously good value and the din filled garage-come-seating area at the back gives this place all the cheap and cheerful charm you could ask for. The kebabs bang too. In general a great cuisine for takeaway.

Best dips ever! That’s a large size with whatever flavours you want. We were sad that beetroot was such a large portion and told our waiter, we’d prefer chilli. He was very kind to give us another plate with just chilli. Talk about exceptional service 👌🏼👌🏼 Tasty and well cooked lamb kebabs and delicious pides!! Highly recommend.

This place has the best pide I have ever had. I keep going back for more. It's nice to see the Turkish grandmothers helping in the background & the staff are all quite friendly.

A great place to go for an affordable but big feed. The medium dips and iskendar plate were both very generous in portions and super filling. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant overall is very humble, nothing fancy but will definitely have you leaving very satisfied.

I have come here a few times before and the food was normally really good. However when I ordered the doner kebab plate today, the meat was extremely oily and when mixed with the lettuce. The oil became hard like lard. Whilst the tabouli was just chopped parsley with no seasoning. It tasted ok, but afterwards I got food poisoning. The meat was either not fresh or not cooked properly. Not a good experience. Will not come back again
Spice Is Life
We came for a quick lunch and my wife chose the mixed veggie kebab (listed on the menu), which unfortunately perhaps because it was the holiday season was not available so she had to go for a meat one instead. While my snack pack was a decent serving, we found the service quite cold and very unfriendly. Shame since food was pretty good!

“Cash only” place, good food and a bit crowded during the weekend nights. Prices are pretty good for takeaways and is one of the best turkish food in this area.

Simple, easy, nothing fancy but you’ll get a decent meal here. 3.5 stars for me - go when they are busy and things will be warmer/fresher. It’s not going to blow your socks off but you’ll most likely be satisfied ;)

Ordered: cabbage roll ($6), icle kofte ($13) and mixed grill plate ($32). I've passed by here and mused about their cabbage rolls MULTIPLE times (usually while on my way to and from Cow & Moon; which is across the street) and finally had the opportunity to dine here one windy Tuesday night. The food was delicious. I've never had a cabbage roll before, but this one was huge and filled with spiced rice and poached in a tomato based sauce. It strangely tasted like fermented kimchi to me but with more middle eastern spices. The kofte was a recommendation from our friendly waiter and was minced lamb meat encased in a fried pastry and then left to simmer in a sauce. It was great, the closest resemblance being a really good meat pie 👍 finally the mixed platter with adna (minced lamb patty), chicken on a skewer and grilled lamb. The lamb and chicken were standouts, the salad could have done with a dressing and i would suggest ordering a side of garlic sauce or hommus to go with this dish because the bread, meat and salad aren't flavoured heavily. Will be coming back for their pide next time.

Overcooked meat, undercooked pide, and switched drinks. I give some leeway for delivery of meats but you can't bring me a $27 mixed grill with every meat massively overcooked. The pides had good ingredients (especially the potato, cheese and spinach one) but were undercooked and doughy. And the meal deal included a drink (which I didn't really want), so I ordered coke but they delivered pepsi and acted like it wasn't their fault that they were lying. I thought that sort of deceit died out years ago. The Sultan's Table really seems old school in terms of poor customer service and mediocre food but unfortunately not old school in terms of reasonable pricing.

2 friends and I decided to have dinner here; despite it being busy..we were able to get a table outside along the walkway. We ordered the mixed grill plate, stuffed capsicum and falafel. We found the falafel too dry. The stuff capsicum and lovely flavor but temperature wise, they could've warm it up more. The mixed plate-lamb was dry and tough, chicken was nice and tender, adana was tasty despite being spicy. Overall, the food was just okay despite the good reviews I've heard about this restaurant.

We love Sultans! Have tried so many other places but keep coming back over a ten year period for the following reasons: Hands down best chicken shish skewers in the inner west, amazing mixed grill, dips (go for the mixed dips!), breads and pides. All of that stuff has consistently been top notch. Unfortunately the falafels, which once were terrible, but then somehow became awesome, have gone back to being horrible again - like uncooked dough inside, and hard, dry and almost burned on the outside. Also, have noticed that there’s now some skimpiness with the extras. Not sure what’s going on.

The dips and bread were warm and delicious and came quickly, but the lamb Shish kebab was hard and difficult to eat. The baclava was nice though. All in all it didn’t live up to the hype. I wouldn’t go back.
Henry's Food Reviews
Once upon a time, in the little suburb of Kogarah, there was an unassuming little shop called "Turkish Pizza". It sold the most wonderful pides that authentically captured Middle Eastern flavours and would excite two young brothers to no end when their mum said they were going there for lunch. The store closed down and the same spot has since been occupied by many transient, weak imitators selling pizza, kebabs and fast-food pides. It was a tragic loss.

But then I discovered The Sultan's Table!! And it's even better than Turkish Pizza!!!
I ordered the "Harem's Treat" which has sausage, beef, egg and mince in it. It was quite savoury, and I was ready for that, so I also ordered a mixed dip plate with hummus, babaganush and beetroot dips. The dip plate is absolutely necessary. It is the perfect complement to pide, much like how you'd want to have a bit of rice with the dishes you order at an Asian restaurant.
My companion ordered a kebab shish plate. The lamb looked dry but was surprisingly tender. I think it could have been a bit more succulent (thus the -0.5)
All the food tasted incredible.

We were there for a good 90 minutes or so, slightly struggling to finish the generous portions (pictures of leftovers provided as a testament to the food quality).
While my friend and I discussed the sometimes disenchanting nature of the education system, we debated what to do with the leftover food. In the end, we left that bit of salad and dip behind and acknowledged the importance of not wasting food...which is something that everybody should endeavour to do.

Also, something significant to note is that the restaurant is about 7 seconds-walk from Cow & The Moon. In conclusion, I'm so full right now.

The food is quite mediocre and includes bread, cabbage and vine leaves stuffed with rice, then more vegetables filled with rice, then a meat dish which is basically shavings from a beef kebab roll out the front. The service is woeful, you have to ask for everything and the dirty plates are left out on the table for 45 mins after we finished and waited for coffees whilst one of the owners sat nearby staring at her mobile phone. I struggle to understand how it gets such good ratings. Forced to come here for family event but previous time was similarly disappointing and very poor value for money.

Sultan’s is my absolute fave Turkish restaurant in Sydney. The food portions are great value and the food is amaaaazing! Every time I’ve eaten here I’ve gotten the banquet and there’s such great variety in the dishes. There’s plenty left for doggy bags too. For two people it’s under $90 always and there’s so much food that it doesn’t fit on one table! The waiters will always bring you whatever you need as well without complaining. The food comes out relatively quickly which is also good. No wonder they are always so packed! Complimentary water and breads also.

Meh. No service to speak of but the food was good to below average/poor. Peynirli was predominantly egg with a LOT of tasty? Cheese and very little haloumi or feta which kind of made it like a plain cheese omlette wrapped in slightly soggy bread, not aided by the absence of fresh parsley. Felafal was tasty, tabouli and homous were pretty average. If for some reason Saray was closed, I'd give it another go but definitely not first preference.

Been multiple times. Had a different experience each time depending on who is serving. The food is nice but sometimes it can be a little funny service wise. This last time I went I ordered a plate to take away and requested an extra plastic fork as I was sharing with someone. That request didn’t seem to be smiled upon. It’s ok. Probably not in a rush to go back.

Our "go to" Turkish take-out. Pides, dips and turkish bread amazing! Chicken and mushroom is our favourite. Meal deal one is the best value around - 2 pides, dip and turkish bread for $32. Highly recommend!!
Jenny
The mixed dips plate with Turkish bread is a must!! The staff are really nice and patient. We finished our basket of Turkish bread and we had so much dip left over and a staff member gave us a second basket of bread to finish off the dips for free 😭😌 they were so sweet

Combination meat pide and Spinach & cheese pide are my favourites.

Just be careful how much you order because the portions are quite big. The appertizer with 2 servings of bread is very fulling.

Food is fine.... but hate that they are cash only! I mean in today's day and age..... get an eftpos please! Will return happily when you do.

My friend introduced me to this place, way before Zomato time.
Just FYI, this is Turkish restaurant that is serving honest good turkish food.
I did order Imam Bayildi and Mixed Grill.
Some story told about the eggplant dish, imam bayildi, the priest was almost fainted to see how much oil they served on this vegetarian dish. (Wow.. so much for vegetarian dish, eh?)
The dish was jammed packed full of flavour of cinnamon, cumin, smoked paprika and coriander, making this dish so enjoyable.

Noice so noice
On Saturday night parking is inposebal to park small service and unconfirmed seat
Next time will miss it
We where there 12 and I. A small Rome was like over 60 so noice like a football stadium

Harems Treat and mixed Dips is the greatest feast in Sydney, worth the trip down to Enmore. Bring your mates and a few bottles of cheap red for good times and good lols

Very bad customer service and staff is always pretty angry.

Eventhough my order came wrong and staff knew that she put it on the table until I asked it was wrong. She said ahh yes I brought this one.

You feel you are in a 5th world country restaurant because of the athmosphere which is Quite old fashion and dirty.

I saw its rating in zomato which is 4.5 and I came in. It seems like very very overrated. So I made a mistake, don't recommend it at all. Never again.

Been here heaps of times. This place doesn't ever disappoint.
Love the mix dips here. So much variety and always fresh. We got the dips with toasty warm Turkish bread. Seriously good.
Next we got the falafel which was a meal in itself served with bread, salads and hummus. They were delicious! Vine leaves were good and for main the mixed grill of different meats. I tried the chicken, was yum.
In the past I've had pide. The vegetarian one is very yum and cooked fresh to order.
A very reliable place to come for a good feed. Never had a bad meal here.

No doubt the best kebabs and pide there is to offer in Sydney. Have travelled to Sydney twice and have had this on my wish list when I'm there.
The pide and kebabs are to die for. Try any non veg dish with the dips platter.
Laura Tran
Great variety of dips, fresh turkish bread and their pides are full of flavour. Between 2 people we order a pide and a plate of dips to share, amounts to $35. Love the authentic and casual vibe and it's byo!
Don't Believe The Hype
Middle Eastern food that doesnt let you down. The venue is pretty dated and service is basic but if you are looking for decent middle eastern food its one of the better ones in inner city.
Ghost Reviewer
Before I depart Sydney and move state I couldn't leave without telling you all how much I love this place. I've been meaning to do a review for so long as I come here literally (literally) once a week. Whether it's at 1am of 12pm lunch or dinner. My all time favorite is the chicken roll (kebab) sauced in garlic, BBQ and hummus. I'm not a big meat person but it's so succulent and flavorsome it leaves you so content with life and all your problems and worries are gone for those few minutes. The stuffed capsicum are beautiful and the rice is so silky and smooth, don't forget the take home a dolmades either. If you wanna carb load make sure you try one of their spinach and feta pides, please. I can guarantee you peak hour is around 5pm with punters lining up like their trying to get into a club, don't let that scare you away. It's all part of the experience. Sultan's Table thank you, I will not forget you 💙🇹🇷

How popular is this place! A great place to go before seeing a gig across the road at the Enmore Theatre but you'd better book in advance! Walked through the kebab shopfront to be shown through to the undercover courtyard out the back. It's kind of like being at a friend's barbecue. Does anyone realise the outside floor is on a big slope? Sat down and poured a wine and it came slowly sliding towards me! The food is so delicious and satisfying that obviously the floor gradient is immaterial. Enjoyed a platter of mixed grilled kebabs with salad and Turkish bread. This was accompanied with the three meze dips - humus, garlic and babaganush. Authentically great!

Another amazing ethic experience at the Sultan's Table. The dips were as similar as you were get in an Istanbul or Antalya kebab restaurant. However, the chicken was a bit too dry and I suspected that too much heat was used to grill the chicken. The salad and humus was appetising and colourful.
Jaci Wright
The service was really quick even though the restaurant was packed. The peynirli pide and dips were delicious but the falafels and spinach pide were overlooked making them pretty dry and average.
Overall it was a decent price for a quick and tasty meal with nice authentic atmosphere.

Sultan’s Table was a delight. From the outside it looks like a typical kebab shop, but once you walk on in there are plenty of seats in a bit of a courtyard setting.

We were in a bit of a rush so only ordered a few small dishes and everything was so good! I loved both the stuffed capsicum and eggplant filled with vegetables. They look similar but do taste slightly different. The eggplant was more tomatoey, so in that sense I suppose I preferred it just slightly.

You also must try the dips with Turkish bread – they were superb! We got chilli, eggplant (which is more of a salad), and humus, and all were highly enjoyable. I have had better chili dip before, but that’s not to say it wasn’t great. With that quality, I’m sure every dip they have would be a winner. 👍👍👍

It is cash only so make sure you withdraw! Otherwise there is an ATM across the street, which I had to pay a visit to! 😒

We've ordered the dip platter to share, it was pretty incredible. All the 8 dips we had were so good and the homemade Turkish bread is still hot and soft. We've also tried the stuffed capsicum, the rice inside is as soft and moist as a risotto. Absolutely delicious!

It's wasn't bad, wasn't great - right in the middle. I do recommend though checking "clean" cutlery before placing them out on the table for customers to use. I sat down with 2 other friends and everyone's cutlery was dirty. When we asked for new cutlery, we must have been given the same cutlery because they were all still dirty. Too embarrassed to tell/ask the waiter again, we just used plastic cutlery.

We had lunch at Sultan's Table today and it was excellent. My husband lived in Turkish Cyprus as a child and is fussy about Turkish food - he wasn't disappointed! We would recommend everyone try their delicious dips with a basket of warm Turkish bread - yum! We also had their vegetable shish kebab (which was very generous) and is served with fresh tasty salad and more warm bread. The restaurant looks like a take away joint but out the back there are quite a few tables. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. We will certainly be going back.

Some of the best and most varied Pides you will get anywhere. Amazing selection of dips. Fresh kebabs and everything cooked right in front of you with great staff and reasonable rates

As a previous local this restaurant is still a staple of every sydney trip i do. RELIABLY great traditional Turkish food every time, staff are always lovely and service is great. On top of everything the bill is always unbelievably less than anticipated :)

When it comes to dining out, Sydney's food scene is dominated by European and Modern Australian fusion restaurants. You need to look no more further than the recent CBD openings to understand what I mean. Saturated with such cuisines, my taste buds sometimes ache for variety - for something else, something different, something ethnic. And so it was that W, M and her boyfriend, and I went out to dinner at Sultan's Table one Saturday night, guided by my taste buds, my inexperience with Turkish food (but eagerness to try), and Sultan's consistently high score on Zomato.

We arrived at the restaurant around 6 pm. At first glance, the restaurant looked like a typical takeaway shop and indeed, there was a booming takeaway trade throughout the night. I had assumed that we wouldn't need a reservation, but I was proven very, very wrong when we reached the restaurant. It was packed to the rafters with customers and waiters rushed pass left, right and centre, with nary a moment to spare for us. Eventually, we managed to grab someone's attention and a short while later, were offered an hour-long table right next to the takeaway counter. With no other options, we took up the offer and set about ordering quickly.

We began with the mixed dips plate, a colourful combination of dips from the popular humus and babaganush to the more unusual green bean and eggplant dips. With such variety, we each found some favourites. I personally enjoyed the chilli dip, its mild spiciness adding some fiery flavour to the Turkish bread. The dips were very generous in size and we found ourselves with a lot left over still by the end of our meal.

We next dug into the pide, a dish that takes me back to memories of ordering it from takeaway kebab shops after uni. Again, the serving was generous - I would daresay more so than other Turkish restaurants for a similar price - and we struggled to finish it between the four of us. The pide was very soft and doughy and we quickly became full on its carb content. Apart from these small details, I can't recall much else about the pide so it probably wasn't very memorable, although I would like to try it again for comparison now that I have had other Turkish since.

Then came the icli kofte, which were like meatballs complete with sauce. The sauce was meant to be 'hot' according to the menu but was instead quite mild. Since the meat was dipped in dough, the meatballs had a slight crunch, although not to the extent of fried foods. All in all, they were decent but not special.

Last to arrive was our meatiest dish, guvec, which resembled a stew. It was steaming hot upon arrival and we had to gingerly scoff it down, well aware of the ticking time. I rather enjoyed this dish, continually going back for more. The base was a runny tomato sauce, not unlike that in which baked eggs are typically cooked, and was perfect for dipping our Turkish bread into. The mixed vegetables were a little soft but this wasn't much of an issue giving the stewy nature of the dish. Out of our three dishes, this one was gobbled up the quickest (although it was also rather small).

After we finished our meal, we hurriedly called for the bill, not wanting to linger any longer to risk getting kicked out. Like before, it was quite the task trying to get someone's attention but we eventually managed to settle the bill and head off. Unfortunately, this left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths. We felt rather neglected by the staff and certainly did not receive the same time and attention as other guests, whether due to our rushed sitting or other reasons, and did not really feel that Sultan's was worth the hype.

You can smell the tantalising chargrilled meats from a block away. Follow your nose to this Enmore institution for a good time & good feed. It is busy pretty much all day but the evenings are when it comes alive. Full of families, friends & groups celebrating, the tables are all heaving with plates of colourful & mouth watering food designed to be shared. A colourful plate of dips (there are 12 to choose from!) Served with a basket of lightly toasted Turkish bread is an appetising way to start any meal. The falafels are full of spices with a crunchy exterior & a soft centre, slightly different in flavour & texture to the Lebanesr versions. The cabbage rolls are served warm & zucchini fritter much larger then expected. The Pides are all delicious, served piping hot & filled generously with your selection, be it Turkish sausage or chicken or vegetarian. The chargrilled meats are a MUST - all of which are delicious with a good charcoal flavour, lightly marinated meats & super juicy & tender. A slice of baklava & Turkish delight is a perfect finish with a strong Turkish coffee. Friendly & efficient service, its BYO which is great as they don't serve alcohol only soft drinks. Oh and bring cash as its cash only.

Had dinner here tonight after reading the reviews.

I shared a mixed dips with friend for starter
I had a mixed grill as my main. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned!

I read they also do BYO so will take a bottle along next time. Highly recommend

We were wandering in Newtown and found most of the restaurant closed. Then we found this gem. We were looking for a quick meal and there were 10 of us. 3 had the chicken shish kebab and 7 had the falafel.
After living in Dubai for one year, i have turned into a big fan of falafels. And this wrap was really good being in Sydney. I didn't expect it to be this tasty. Pricing was decent too.

Turkish dishes in a half restaurant / half take away shop... and it is busy even on a Monday evening! We had the medium dips with bread to share, falafels and mixed grill. All were good size and tasty. I really liked the spicy capsicum dip. Falafels were yummy too but kind of expecting something a little different. I'm always a bit weary of mixed grills as I find the meats usually overdone and a little dry as was the case this evening but flavours were good. There is salad on all the dishes with lots of red onion (hmmm....). Our 3 dishes were just the right about for our group of 4 with enough space to run across the road for gelato.

Service was attentive this evening and the bill comes handwritten and old-school style. They are CASH only and BYO (wine and beer) is free. Great inexpensive dinner spot (

One of my favorite middleeastern places in Sydney. I have never had the shawarma wrap to go before, but I bet it is the best.

I have always eaten in the restaurant, getting the chicken shawarama plate, and then dips and pides to share. The pides are the best I have tried in the city, the dips are to die for, and the chicken is packed with flavour.

The service is a bit lacking and the restaurant is hectic, but overall a good place to go anytime. Its a little frustrating that the take away menu is significantly less than the dine in menu, but what can you do.

Very quick service . Delicious breads and dips. Meat was flavoursome but not quite as tender as it potentially could have been. Reasonably priced. Huge servings. Ordered one pide. One medium mixed dips with bread. One mixed grill. Heaps of food for the 4 of us

This place is delish! I love eating here, since at a decent price, you get a decent meal and that tastes good! I've been here twice and would take friends here again! They do get busy, so it can be hard to get a table and the service isn't that great, but go here for the food !

Sultans Table has been around for so many years and they have definitely bounced back after a few hiccups. It is such a great restaurant to go to for dinner with a group.

You can't go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu. The dips are amazing, especially the baba ganoush! The pide is so delicious, this may be the most popular dish here. Everything is a sharing style, which is great! You get to try more that way.

The restaurant gets pretty busy and with the arrangement of tables, it could get a little squishy. It's definitely worth it for the food.
We've come here on multiple occasions and the staff are quite friendly and easy-going. The pides are our personal favourites and really stand out amongst the rest of their menu. We normally opt for the Veggie ($16.5) and Chicken ($14.5) pide which are quite filling and reasonably priced.

Nice authentic food but diabolical service and couldn't care less attitude. Had to go ask to be served and witnessed several others doing the same but we were bluntly told to sit back down and wait. This place is like the soup nazi of Turkish food. No falafel for you!! Wont be going back when so many better choices available.

The infamous sultan's table is no longer a place of happiness. Once a nice place to eat now has become all about the business and no longer about customer service. We had a booking for 5 people. They sat us in the corner and added one chair on the side to make 5 seats. We had the set menu banquet. Service was slow, it took more than 10 mins for dips to arrive. Another 30 mins for the meats to come out. Wait staff was quite blunt and rude, when questioned how long the meat would be simply said "5 mins". Not apologetic about the delay at all. This place has loss it's touch and after tonight's experience we may not go back again. Great food and portions, bad customer service.

Ordered the kefte which the menu said was cooked over charcoal fire...I was dismayed to see they had been hot plate fried when I received my order. In hindsight Should have sent it back. Anyway I only get duped once by the same people, so won't be back again.

Who would've thought that a review could be deceiving. I came here on a whim because it was rated 4.0 with lots of reviews and my boyfriend was hankering for a good meal. I read it was open till 11 and called to confirm wine was served. To my disappointment, the takeaway component of the premises was only open and no wine was being served. I succumbed and ordered the falafel dish for myself, the chicken for my other half. Not only was an uninvited hair present, the tabouli tasted like mere parsley and the falafel was dry. Don't be deceived fellow foodies, find yourself a reliable sultan.
Kim
Food was tasty. Dips were delicious! We were a group of 20 so had the banquet which was so much food. We were here for a birthday and when we asked to light our candles, they came out with sparklers which was a cool gesture.
Service can be a little chaotic because the place can get quite busy but not a real issue.
Cash only.
James
Yet another disappointment, visited this place a year ago, I ordered mixed grill. The meat was burnt and tough. Visited today. Same - meat was burnt and tough. When I say burnt means really burnt. Ordered gourmet Pide which was nice. It seems that they are busy and no one cares. I also heard a waitress cleaning the next table was frustrated and stressed. There are many other joints with quality food.
Angelique Pappas
Basically a take away kebab shop with seating. Ordered one vegetarian dish, one pide and 3 kebabs... Each coming at different times with a 45 minute gap between the first and the last. Glasses were dirty, service was hard to get. Crowded, extremely noisy and left smelling like kebab. Best thing about this place is the fact that it is directly opposite an artisan gelato shop. Yuk.
Willjhutchison
The food is amazing and really good value. It can be a bit chaotic, and you don't always end up with the best table, but the food more than makes up for that.
ThatFoodDude.
Another local favourite of ours. They always seem to be very busy but are always very accommodating. We usually order the mixed grill and mixed dips. If we're extra hungry, we'll order a kiymali, making sure to douse it in lemon. The warm, crunchy turkish bread is made fresh, which is a very nice accompaniment to the meal. Prices are fair, and I've never left unsatisfied.
La Petite Bobo
This place is always packed every day of the week and we finally got a table on a busy Thursday night. The service is extremely pressed for time, running crazily around serving food and taking orders. However, they are extremely lovely! The food is seriously top notch here - make sure to order the mixed dips they are phenomenal! The kebabs and mixed meat platter were equally delicious and huge portions. However, the stuffed vine leaves were extremely disappointing - tasting like they were straight from the tin. But I will definitely be back for the other dishes and to try out their famous pide!
Bottomlesspit
Such a good authentic feed! The food is so tasty and great serving sizes for a good price. It's the kind of place I would go to with a group of people to share when you are wanting a sturdy meal. The staff are so friendly. The poor waiter spilt our bottle of red wine that we had brought ourselves and he was so apologetic and gave us one of their bottles of red wine on the house! I will be coming back here no doubt!

The Sultan’s table is a Turkish restaurant on Enmore Road that has been around for more than ten years. It is extremely popular and very busy. And busy means that the food is fresh, very fresh. The décor is simple; Turkish kebab shop with a few tables out the back. But you’re not here for the ambience. You are here for the food, in a relaxed, simple atmosphere.

After hearing the hype about this Enmore eatery, we ventured all the way there to tried a mixed grill at Sultan's Table. We were disappointed by the extravagant cost of the food and the run-of-the-mill quality of the food. The service was also nothing notable; in fact, if it were notable, it would only be because of the poor attitude and rudeness of the staff. The ambience of Sultan's Table was also unremarkable, other than for the fact that it was rather cramped, even when empty, and the place looked rather dirty.

We have in fact tried this restaurant on multiple occasions, previously via catering and when we did not have to pay a small fortune for what we thought was an all right meal for catered food. However, on balance, we feel that we would be uncomfortable recommending this restaurant to our friends for fine Turkish fare; instead, we would suggest Saray of, if travelling out to the west is an option, Auburn for something better.

I used to always get takeaway at this place, until I found out that Blues Eyes, (that one worker with insanely blue coloured eyes) was incredibly arrogant and sexist. Recently, when the place was busy I waited at the desk for service. I waited about 5 minutes patently since the place was packed and that's fine. I get that, but Blue Eyes knew I was waiting. And once he was free, he immediately served the gentleman behind me first. Once his order was done, this gentleman apologized to me thinking I had already been served, he had no idea. After that, I was then served, and my kebab was under filled and I paid $2 extra than what the sign said, when every other worker makes me pay the same price and it has way more filling. The food here is fine, the one worker, is not.

My favourite place. Period. Get the dips...

Food & Service. I go there almost weekly. I've been yesterday, it was an extremely busy. They haven't enough staff on the floor, but they work really fast. Food is yummy, they make fresh that's why pide takes a long time. I reckon when you go to the Sultan's, you should give your order to the waitress who got her lip pierced. If you can't see someone who runs fast it means she's making Turkish coffee.

Sensational Service. We recieved out of this world service tonight at Sultan's, on what was an extremely busy night. Our waiter went out of his way, not once but twice. We will definitely be back!

With the Sultan’s ample servings, you will leave with a feeling of contentment and a desire to spread the word about the discovery of this well priced gem. Sultan’s Table is perfect for a casual midweek meal or Sunday lunch.

We tried the 3 dips combo ($10.00) and Turkish bread ($2.00) which was recommended to us by the friendly waiter. The bread was nice and fluffy and obviously very freshly baked and the dips (humus, babaganush, and chilli carrot) were amazing - definitely worth trying.

The menu here is nothing fancy but it offers a great selection of pide, dips and kebabs. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a colourful array of dips, and because fo decision-phobia and for the sake of this blog, we ordered the mixed dips. The above is medium, MEDIUM. how generous are the servings? With the mixed dips you get all 10 choices, consisting of hummus, babaganush, parsley, chilli, beetroot, carrot, spinach, jajik, green bean and eggplant. my favourite? this was a tough one, but the eggplant and the spinach were definite

Posted on Mar. 16 in Reviews with no comments The way my friend Jenny describes it, you would think that Manchester in the UK is an empty wasteland of food culture. The variety that we take for granted here in Sydney, is by her account, completely lacking in Manchester. When she visited me earlier this year, I questioned her on what she wanted to try when she was in Sydney. What cuisines doesn’t she have access to back home, and what would she like to try? On the second night that we went out for dinner ( first night was at Gyuzou ), we had the choice between Ethiopian ( Jambo Jambo – read my earlier review here ) or Turkish. We chose Turkish and ended up at Sultan’s Table in Enmore, one of my favourite Turkish joints not least because of its convenient location near Cow & The Moon Artisan Gelato for dessert. Medium Mixed Dips, $18 With Jenny’s university friend Catherine who had just moved to Sydney and K in attendance as well, we ordered a number of dishes to share. First up, a must at any Turkish restaurant – a platter of Mixed Dips with warm crusty Turkish bread on the side. I liked Sultan’s Table’s unique addition of a little eggplant salsa in the middle of the platter for something a bit different. The winner here though, was the capsicum dip – slightly spicy, but sweet at the same time. Imam Bayildi (Whole eggplant filled with vegetables cooked in a traditional way with special herbs & spices), $9 As a big eggplant aficionado, the Imam Bayildi caught my eye as one way to increase our vegetable intake at a restaurant where you’re more likely to order carb and protein-heavy meals. Baked till soft, the halved eggplant was served with a herbed tomato salsa on top. It’s quite heavy for a purely vegetarian dish, and does leave a bit of an oily aftertaste in your mouth. Gourmet Chicken Pide (Chicken, spinach, mushroom, onion, tomato, cheese & parsley), $14.50 With over a dozen different pide to choose from on the menu, it’s difficult to settle on just the one! Cath

Sultan’s Table is convenient for city folk who don’t have to traipse far for authentic Turkish cuisine. Service is polite and prompt and now that I know the menu better I would consider returning again.

We started with the 8 Mix Dips which was a big hit, there was a mix of yoghurt, beetroot, carrot, chilli, hummus and other dips along with turkish bread (below). The bread is made in a little area at the front of the store and served at the table hot and cripsy, I really liked the bread and we ended up having to order a second serve to keep everyone happy before our mains arrived.

We had chicken kebab and a lamb mince number as mains. I liked the lamb, nice flavour. The chicken itself was good, served with fluffy bread, but the tomatoes were weirdly only half cut up, the other half just sat there on the plate as an oversized garnish, and the lettuce was scrappy. Main problem though was the distinct lack of accompanying condiment. Trivial it may sound, but an oversight nigh on unforgivable to some. Yoghurt seemed like such an obvious choice. No dessert here (we heard the Cow & the Moon calling our name from across the road).

Sultans Table is great. You eat like a King and its dirt cheap. Wow. We loved it. We ate with T & D, Z, N and J -

Cheap and cheerful dining with big portions - we could barely finish the dishes between two and left completely stuffed to the brim. Would definitely recommend getting in early because it's always busy!

With the promise of delicious Turkish food for a low price tag, Emma G recommended that a group of us try the Sultan's Table after watching the David Strassman show at the Enmore Theatre. I had recently completed a trip to Turkey and I absolutely fell in love with the place. I loved the people, the food and the culture. The food was so spectacular I simply ate my heart out. So I was more than happy to be momentarily whisked back there, even if the food was sourced from the local. Mixed Dips $15 - Hummus, Baba ganush, Parsley, Chilli Carrot, Beetroot, Spinach, Jajik, Green Bean, Eggplant @ Sultan's Table, Enmore While patiently waiting for our table, we soaked in the air of freshly cooked Turkish bread and stood there blatantly eyeballing all of these mouthwatering dishes being rushed out for service. We quickly noticed the mixed dips and decided unanimously right then and there, that we had to order them. Obviously there were other dips that I preferred more than others

Great food, great service although food can come a bit slow. Best to book if come with groups, as they got packed really easily. The mixed dips is must-order, and the pides are to die for.

Ultra friendly staff, amazingly fresh bread and moreish dips. It's not a visually inspiring restaurant, but like many good places to eat it's all about the food.

From the outside it looks like pretty standard kebab take-away shop but as you walk through to the back you discover a courtyard full of diners. This is one popular place and with a score of 8.3 on Eatability after 91 reviews it certainly has its fans. I

Legendary amongst locals is Sultan's Table Turkish in Enmore. From the outside it looks like your average kabab joint, but it's actually a little piece of Auburn, I mean Istanbul, in Enmore. Tonight we get takeway so we can slip in a quick schooner while

Enmore Road isn't somewhere we venture to all that often even though it's a ten minute walk up the road and has many restaurants to choose from. For a little while now I've wanted to try Sultan's Table since hearing a few recommendations and sadly our fir

We had a Saturday night booking and from the start it was a joke - our booking was at 7:30pm and we were right on time. The place was manic and staff were rude- ignoring us and avoiding eye contact as they struggled to keep up with the full restaurant. We were finally seated at 8:15pm, but only after we continually asked to be seated. Others around us had bookings for even earlier and were still not seated. No apologies for the 45 minute wait were offered. We got menus thrown at us 10 minutes later and our food eventually arrived. The terrible service would be bearable if the food was amazing - but it was very average. The menu said the chicken shish came with dips but there was only cabbage and tomato on the plate.the chicken was salty fatty with little other flavour. A soft drink we ordered with the food was brought to us as the waitress cleared our plates 30 minutes later. We went into the restaurant and had to struggle to have someone take our money. We realized after we had left that according to the prices on the menu we had been overcharged by $5- but there was no way we were going back in. Don't bother - there is better food to be had elsewhere and you won't have to deal with the rude service.

Lacking customer service. I've been a regular customer and have no hesitation to recommend this place BUT having to wait over 10 minutes to order take away and not have any of the multitude of staff acknowledge you especially given that I was the only one at the counter waiting to order was disappointing.
Surely some customer service wouldn't go a miss. It's not Surry Hills and at the end if the day it's a kebab shop. Pull you head in guys because I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Seriously how is this place still in business?. Surely this place survives on the Enmore Theatre crowd because I don't know a single person who rates this place. The service is atrocious. They take forever to get to you and when they do they always...always make mistakes. Hopeless. I have eaten here over 10 times and gave them a chance. All over.

Worst Turkish food I've had in years. A lot of reviews here have pointed out the poor service but the food is really the main disappointment. Don't bother, go to Faheem's across the road or Matée on King St for quality Turkish.
Gilmourkathryn
Looked nicer on their website. Not cheap and cheerful - nice food but overpriced. Booked but stood waiting ages for a table. More of a quirky takeaway than a restaurant. Expect to enjoy the food rather than the service.

Average at best. I feel like most of the people who have voted or written a review must be friends of the owners. I heard great things about the restaurant which turned out to be a glorified - over priced kebab/ pide shop.

The staff are friendly but the service is very slow and although we called up to book a table we had to sit outside (front, not back garden), on the main road on a cold winters night with no outdoor heaters. We also were cramped on a 2 person table although we had a party of 3. The food was okay, but nothing special.

There are much nicer places to eat in Enmore for the same price.

My favourite place for Turkish, eat in or take away the food is always amazing!

One of my favorite places to eat. Great place for the whole family to dine. Love the lamb shish plate!! A must try!!!

I ordered delivery and 1 hour and a half later I finally received my food. I asked for tomato on my pide, which they didn't give me. Very limited pide choices compared to other restaurants in the area.

An old favourite gone bad!. My fiancé and I have been going here for many years, but we just went again for the first time in about 12 months. We ordered our usual items only to walk out after the meal feeling like we'd been ripped off.

We ordered a small dip plate, and the baba ghanoush was off to the point that it tasted like it was fermenting. They did replace the plate for us when I brought the issue to their attention. In say this, the hummus had very little flavour, and the baba ghanoush was missing eggplant, which I'm sure is key to the recipe.

While the dips were being replaced our mains arrived, long gone are the selection of dips that used to come on the plate, just pile of raw onions, some tasteless sliced red cabbage, and a pile of bread that was cut into shapes that forced you to solve a puzzle just to use them with the rest of the meal.

The Adana and Izgari Kofte had the illusion of being spiced or marinated, but instead were devoid of any flavour. Our plates also lacked any tabouli so we ordered some, much to our disappointment there was no dressing on it, and I can only imagine that riding a motorcycle through a herb garden at 120kph would result in producing the same dry and boring taste.

It's like they don't care about quality anymore, and that's fine, I'll never be going back!

Go somewhere else!. I've had Turkish in Sydney at a variety of places. Usually quite cheap with ample servings and friendly staff. This place has none of that. I was just charged $29 for three bits of meat and a measly garden salad and I had to wait 50 mins to get it. The staff didn't bother to tell us if there was an issue in the kitchen. We watched numerous people walk in and out with takeaways while we waited. We're never going back. I can get top notch Turkish food somewhere else!

All good. Always perfect.

Eggplant salad, humus & Turkish bread. Always fantastic!

Not sure why everyone raves about this?. We'd heard good things about this restaurant and it is certainly popular but we had a very bad experience. We went in for some takeaway plates and had to wait about 45 minutes (despite them not having to actual do anything besides put it in the box). We complained at about the 30 minute mark that we'd been forgotten about it because everyone was being served and they didn't really respond. I got irate at about 40 minutes and said I wanted my money back, and only then did they actually serve us. When it finally came time to eat the food it wasn't very good anyway. Terrible service.

Tasty. I've enjoyed many a mixed kebab here... They're busy all the time so don't sook if they don't pat you on the head and make you feel like a special lil' guy ... The chilli sauce is the best.

Service not great, food worse. Decided to check this place out after reading reviews. I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong things, but I just can't see why it has been rated so well. ordered the lamb kebab plate and the meat was chewy.

the cabbage roll was substandard, food overall was barely enjoyable - similar to any takeaway kebab place.

it was also hard to catch their attention for service, although the place was fairly busy, still quite disappointing.
Flossy_floss24
Bad service. I didn't even get to make a booking. I called up and the person that answered said, "Can you call back later, there is no one here that can take your booking." No apologies or 'please call back later.' No offer to take my number and return my call. If they weren't going to help me why did they answer the phone? Anyway, after reading the other reviews I'm not going to bother.

Only go under duress.. I have been a number of times (not by my choice) and my experience has been the same with every visit. The service is appalling the waiters, are rude and the food is nothing to write home about.
I recommend you bring your own water unless you want to take your chanced drinking from the tap in the bathroom. Because you will have Buckley's chance of getting the waiter to bring you any water. Beyond belief this place has such a "good" reputation.

Was really looking forward to eating her but was disappointed by the below par food. I have had better take away food at any of the Turkish establishments in Auburn. Would recommend Medo Cafe. Yes, it's a bit of a trip from the CBD but I'd travel far for good food. Not sure what everyone is raving about. Meet was tough and food lacked flavor. Maybe we should have just stuck to the pide.
