Absolutely love this place. The food and service is amazing. I highly recommend this place. I think it's fairly priced based on the quality food that they serve.
So for my 35th birthday my brother took me here and wow was not disappointed. I asked for medium to well and honestly for how i normally have steak was way undercooked but wow i loved it all the same...will be coming back for sure...Anyone thinking of going do yourself a favour and do it :) be warned you may become addicted to their food though...waiter was great as well asian guy with glasses if i recall top effort :)

Omg where do I start the greeting was fantastic with a smile and how are you this evening. I had salmon which was amazingly cooked and hubby's lamb loin chops were cooked to perfection. The food here cannot be faulted at all and we will be back again for sure. Just love their food. The service is also top class.
Have been going to squires loft for many years and the food only gets better every time, staff are alway very good and the glass is never empty. Can't say a bad word about any of the restaurant

Had an expensive-high-end-pub/restaurant atmosphere. Great and knowledgeable service. Delicious steak, which validated the price. Side of chips came in a huge portion which was great. Ribs had a great flavour. Friendly staff. This is 100% my go-to steak restaurant, guaranteed not to be disappointed!
Had dinner here on Easter Monday with 6 others. I had the scotch fillet with chips and pepper sauce. Meat was cooked perfect to my liking - medium well. Chips were good, I also had some of my friends Greek salad which was nice also. The sauce had a sour base which tasted the same when I tried the mushroom sauce - was ok, not bad. Tried some ribs too - they were tender and had a nice bbq flavour.
10% surcharge on public holidays . Our waitress was friendly and professional. Overall enjoyed our meal here 3.5/5
Squires loft is a 4.5! The baked mushroom and feta is delicious! The eye fillet was cooked to perfection and I’m drooling thinking about it, the only let down was the mushroom sauce! The staff are friendly, the atmospheres great and the steak is to die for!
The steaks here are breathtaking & glorious they come with a small chip side and getting the original squires loft basting is all you need. Definately one of the best steakhouses in melbourne

This place never disappoints! Best steaks on this side of melbourne by far. Cooked to perfection, and sides are really tasty too. We arrived 30 mins late to the booking and they still accommodated for us. Great food, great service, what more can I ask for. Shame it’s hidden now by the new tunnel/bridge.
Honestly the best eye fillet I've ever had. Choose the way you like it cooked and they'll hit the nail on the head. It comes with your choice of sauce which thankfully they serve on the side in a gravyboat because it doesn't need any sauce. It's that good. The baked mushroom sides were good. We had garlic mushrooms but you can go herb if the garlic is too much. They have possibly too much garlic. Maybe a hint of garlic would be better. Still they were tasty. There was possibly an imbalance in the size of the steak compared to the chips but you can have potatoes or salad instead of chips if you like. Service is friendly and attentive. The decor could do with a little freshen up but it's still a nice venue. I really enjoyed it overall and I'd go back.
Fantastic friendly service and awesome steaks! Will definitely come back on the regular, the steaks melt in your mouth and staff are lovely and very quick to serve and bring out our food! There’s currently road works going on out the front which is crappy, but it’s worth the short walk to eat there. Don’t let that put you off!
My boyfriend and I went a few weeks ago and loved it! The ribs were very nice and the rib eye was cooked amazing! We love our mushroom sauce and we’re glad we got a good size on the side for our steak 👌 we would gladly go again
If you enjoy a good steak I would highly recommend this place! On par if not better than Rockpool. Really great quality food for a very reasonable price. Will definitely be coming back here
We made a booking at 5:30pm on a Friday night, the place wasn’t too busy which was good.
The staff were friendly and attentive. We both ordered a scotch fillet steak with chips and mushroom sauce. The steak was nicely cooked and they let us change one of the cheeses on the cheese platter which was nice.
The service was definitely a highlight. Staff were friendly, attentive and the service was quick without feeling rushed. Steak was cooked nicely and had a good char grill flavour.
My go to when I'm craving steak. Can't fault the steak here and its always cooked perfectly to our preference. The blue cheese sauce is a must try. Staff here are lovely, prompt and attentive to our needs.
We went there last night to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The service was excellent as was the food. Our steaks were cooked exactly as requested. The sticky date pudding was also very good. We will definitely be going back.
If you know the squires loft chain then the essendon one will not surprise you. It has the same quality steaks and delicious sauces and crispy chips that you’d expect. I always opt for the eye fillet with the pepper sauce. I generally get the fat cut chips but on my last visit I opted for the baked potato which was yum. I’ve had the ribs before too which are cooked perfectly and full of flavour. I recommend!
Great steaks amazing beef sausages. Grilled mushroom with garlic are amazing. Complimentary bread is delicious also. Recommend this place highly.

Excellent fare, solid placement and close by, Squires Loft delivers on its promise as the quality red meat providore in the inner suburbs.
Entree atarted with the baked Camembert with Cranberry Jelly, the baked Mushroom with Fetta (seasoned with Garlic Butter) and the Tiger Prawn skewer. Both prawns and mushrooms were excellent but the Camembert was exotic and truly a standout.
Mains followed with three diners selecting Scotch Fillet in medium rare, each with a different sauce: Garlic, the house Baste and Blue Cheese. Garlic was flawless with the balance between cream and garlic spot on, the house baste has all diners guessing and the next level was certainly attained by the Blue Cheese sauce. All were well cooked and truly the epitome of their cut and colour.
Myself, I had the 400g Black Angus Porterhouse served Medium Rare (i like my steak lightly cooked) with Black Pepper sauce. The challenge of finding a wine to suit was levelled at the wait staff and accepted gleefully, with three staff and the manager combining to deliberate. The end result: a glass of perfectly balanced Heathcote Winery Mail Coach Shiraz, exemplary in its balance and highlighting the quality work of the chef in creating a great dish from great quality meat and well prepared sauces.
Desert was, either unfortunately or not, waiting at home in the form of Polish Paczki, so this leaves my business here undone. Nonetheless, I will return and recommend readers do so as well. My compliments to the chef and manager, and our wait staff who provided small samples of sauces to ensure happiness and selected a great wine to boot.
I'm not a steak eater. At least I wasn't until I went to Squires Loft. The Eye Fillet was so tender, sliced like butter! So delicious. And the mushroom sauce was amazing. Definitely recommend for a fancy steak night.
Decent fine dining restaurant. The eye fillet steak was great quality, but a small serving despite being the largest one available, 300g. The service was kind, the atmosphere homely. Way over priced. But you have to try everywhere at least once, Recommended
'Hat's off to the Chef'
Always cooking my burger to perfection. It's full of life, juicy, succulent, well proportioned and seasoned. The fries (thick) were a bit plain as they need to be seasoned or sprinkled with chicken salt or something to give them a kick or two, however, the went down well with the burger.
Friendly staff, very efficient service always and looks very tidy which is important when your eating!

Finally had the opportunity to visit Squires Loft which is conveniently within walking distance for me. Called on a Thursday to make a booking for Friday night which I'm glad I did because we snapped up the last table. First of all the service was fantastic and really helpful, prices didn't bother me as I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for". We decided to splurge. I ordered a scotch fillet cooked Medium. The steak was cooked perfect to my liking, full of flavour and juices. Everyone's meals were spot on. The chips that came with them did seem slightly bland but they were still good too, maybe I'm unfairly comparing them to the top notch steak. With a couple of bottles of wine we spent around $350 for the 4 of us. But it was a great night and worth every cent. Washed it down with Sticky Date pudding as well. But definitely come for the steak.

I get asked a lot if I’m a ‘burger guy’ or a ‘steak guy’ which I find a little bit silly.
How can you compare a burger; a layered, handheld staple beloved by all to a perfect piece of grilled Bovine that are banned by certain Religions? It’s an absurd comparison that I cannot fathom since I love both unconditionally. If anything, I’m neither a ‘burger’ nor a ‘steak’ guy but more of a, ‘What do you have? I’ll eat it all’ guy.
The awesome:
- Steak is King at Squire’s Loft and they dish an impressive steak game. They score a very high mark especially with the cuts with the bone in. I chose the Black Angus Porterhouse and was filled with food envy once I had a taste of the other steaks around the table. Medium rare is certainly not a challenge for the team manning the grills at Squire’s Loft. All steaks were delivered perfectly cooked and rested (no crazy juice leakage!). Each bite was tantalising tender with juices and fat rendering from bite after bite. It was a pleasure to eat and sadness swallowed me once I ran out of steak.
- Chips were good! If you’re not getting mushroom sauce to dip, you’re playing yourself.
- Servers are knowledgeable and made our time much more enjoyable with their recommendations and attentiveness. Anyone who laughs at my dad jokes are the best kind of people.
I loved Squire’s Loft and our experience were as good as you can get for a first time visit. The steaks were delicious but I can’t wait to search out the other steaks around Melbourne!
So this place is a go to for our semi special occasions such as passing work probation but it's not quite an anniversary special occasion restaurant- you know? We landed on our favourite menu items and pretty much get the same thing every time. This is after 7-8 visits, so we've done the leg work. Sausage for entree- it's super yum and the chilli sauce is drink worthy. Porterhouse with chips, garden salad and creamy garlic sauce for main- I get it cooked medium and have been converted to more pink on a steak than I ever thought I would have liked- well done, chef. A cocktail always goes done well with this monstrous meal... I used to have the cosmo but they've taken that off the menu so alas I now settle for the French martini. I'm not complaining.
The place looked very classic, it had a modernist vibe to it. We didn't have a booking but they sat us down straight away, which was surprising. Because it was busy at that time, 530pm.
The service was amazing, greeted professionally, when we were seated, a few wait staff asked how we were going with the food. The wait staff were very diligent, efficient and professional. I have to take my hat off for the manager, very polite, very professional and 5 star ⭐️!
Food wise, all I'm going to say is, I would definitely come back

This place was amazing. We came here for Mother's Day, and my nephew has coeliac disease. Squires loft was absolutely amazing at ensuring my sister there would be no cross contamination. The ambiance was lovely, warm and homely. Food was top notch and was to die for! Service was impeccable and could not be faulted. Highly recommend this place for people who unfortunately suffer from coeliac disease and those who do not!
The 250g Porter house steak was a bit overcooked, it was more of a medium than a medium-rare I requested. Nonetheless the meat had good beefy flavour thanks to their baste, but the texture was a bit chewy. The mushroom sauce was not to my taste as it had a tangyness to it, whereas I prefer the creamy sauces that actually have a mushroom flavour. Potatoes were baked thoroughly with soft inners.
Squire’s Loft was another place that many people were recommending I check out. There are multiple locations all with very similar menus. Brody loves his meat and Squire’s loft seemed like a great date night venue. At the time the Werribee location was not yet ready, so we decided to check out Essendon instead.
Amazing eye fillet - probably my favourite ever. I cannot go past the black angus eye fillet everytime I walk in here. It is consistently cooked perfectly. Unfortunately my phone battery died last night and I didn't get an opportunity to take a photo - beautifully pink and juicy medium rare all throughout. Succulent and full of flavour. The danish blue cheese sauce and various mustards complimented beautifully. The baked potato is my preferred side which is cooked exceptionally. I really don't need to consider my choices when I come to squires - I just grab the black angus eye fillet. Their service and atmosphere is always pleasurable too - it is nice to know I can rely on a suburban restaurant close to home with lots of parking nearby - such a hassle free way to enjoy a night out!
Excellent! Every time. They DO know how to get the steak perfect, especially as I like rare to medium, and they get it! every time. The accompaniments are always spot on. Love the place.

First time I've been here and it was amazing. I had the 300g angus eye fillet and it was exceptional. Cooked to perfection. It's not a cheap place and the quality of the food reflects that. We had the baked mushroom and feta as entree and that was great too. Staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommended for a special night out.

Its hard to find a place that is consistent with their steak cooking. Most restaurants I go to will have the texture I ordered and then on other days, it's missed. Then I found Squires. I go to Squires when I feel like a a eye fillet for dinner. Not once has it failed me. I ask for med rare and that is exactly what I will get. It's gotten to a stage that even if I go to a well known restaurant, I don't even try their steak. I just don't want to be disappointed. Who knows how it will turn out. I don't always feel like steak, so when I do, I want to make sure I'm getting what I'm expecting and I don't miss my steak craving by feeding my yummy sub standards. I've also had the prawn skewers for entree. Lovely. Very yummy. Good flavours. There are many times I've wanted to be adventurous and try something else, but I can't put myself through it and end up ordering the eye fillet each time. The guys always order the cheese board. It's huge.
For that price, I'm expecting the board to serve two. But it is sooo big. Gotta be a cheese lover to order this. We have never finished the board.
If I feel like a burger for lunch, I always come here for the wagu burger. Juicy. And it's only $10 (lunch special).
Wait staff is friendly. Every now and then, u might get one that's not so experienced, and a bit forgetful. It's never intentional or a bad attitude. They are trying to serve/ doing their best - so nothing to be annoyed about.
Up and down experience the food at this place is to die for. Would especially recommend the baked mushroom and feta and the pork ribs. Also had Scotch Fillet that was cooked to perfection. Only down side was I ordered a drink with my main(a medium well steak) and it still hadn't arrived even though I'd asked for it again after initially ordering it. That aside I'm still going to give a big thumbs up and a 4.5 as the food was fantastic and so was the hostess/manager.

Been here quite a few times now, it's nice and local. If you're looking for a decent quality steak then I highly recommended Squires Loft. My partner and I both got the eye fillet, we both got medium and it was cooked to perfection. The waiter was extremely helpful and polite, service is fantastic and couldn't fault it. Sauces have great flavor, my personal favorite would be the peppercorn. Overall experience was fantastic.
Squires Loft great steak but you pay though the nose for everything in the menu. Service was good my biggest problem is the struggle to get decent parking around the area for dinner due to the amount of no standing, not quite the The restaurants fault but it would be the main reason I wouldn't go back.
First time here and i really enjoyed it. Best thing for me was the baste they used didn't overpower the steak at all. I had the t bone with baked spud, garlic sauce and side salad, all was good but the steak was the hero, cooked perfectly! Service was great, we got there at the start of the night, friendly and attentive! Only thing you have to book unless you like eating after 9pm. Highly recommend and will be going back.
Popped by for dinner and have ordered a T-bone, it is quite fulfilling and delicious. Service was great. Best to book in to make sure you sit inside, otherwise you'll be sitting outside 😂 other than that, I'll be coming back to try the ribs definitely.
Popped in for a laid back Monday evening dinner and was quite surprised on how well supported the venue was considering the winter creeping up on us. We ordered rib eye on the bone and pork ribs. The steak was perfectly prepared and the ribs tasty. Service was great and we Will be back

This restaurant absolutely lived up to the reviews. We had ribs, steak, prawns, dessert... Every morsel was magnificent. I wish I'd had room to order the mushrooms, too. Outstanding, attentive and genuinely friendly service. Beautiful, clean decor. And fabulous food. It's wasn't cheap and it was worth every penny. Best dining experience this year.
Everytime I come to Squires Loft I have to get the ribs. They arent cheap but if you love ribs like I do you won't mind spending the $66 because its worth it! The chips are really good too, I usually get a side of peppercorn sauce to dip them in. Not many steakhouses in the area so Squires Loft in definitely a stand out in Essendon.
Squires Loft is the best steak you can get. Bar none. Yes its expensive, but you know what you're getting yourself into when you elect to come here. And frankly, for the CONSISTENT quality you receive with your steaks, it's worth it. Absolutely phenomenal.

Went here for dinner tonight. For entree, we couldn't go pass the baked mushroom with feta and garlic butter. I went to mushroom heaven! As for mains, I got the eye fillet steak -medium rare-and it came out perfectly cooked. A lovely local place to go to when I'm craving some red meat. Service was attentive and friendly.

Well, it was another Christmas lunch. Squires Loft had been highly recommended by one of my work colleagues, who said Squires Loft Nailed it with their steaks.
It was Wednesday lunch time, and the restaurant was almost full by the time we left. The sandwich board out the front, indicated that they are not normally open for lunch mid week, but were in the lead up to Christmas.
Upon entering, the seating area wasnt very large, but there is lots of seating outside, and upstairs. I was struck by the granite floors and finishes, the dark high gloss wood walls and the old fittings and finishes. It felt a little bit like a funeral home - not that I have ever been in one - but a little research on the internet revealed that it was formally occupied by Tobin Bros. Dont let that put you off though. It just adds to the character of this lovely old building.
There was plenty of space. The noise level did rise as the restaurant filled, but wasnt overwhelming. The staff were friendly and attentive, but could have been a touch more pro-active. The steaks and chips/potato were served on hot iron plates. We ordered a garden salad to share, and had to ask for plates to put the salad on. A couple of simple improvements would be to set the table with bread knives for each setting. We were served bread and butter with one bread knife on the bread board. I would also suggest to Squires, not to use pre-packaged individual butter servings.
The food was beautiful. Steaks cooked to perfection, fries and salad were nice, and pepper sauce I had with my steak was lovely. Drink prices were reasonable. The warm bread that was served upon arrival was exceptional. A true delight. I asked the waitress if the bread was made on premises or brought in. It was made on site.
In summary, a lovely meal, but just a lttle bit overpriced. My 400 gram Ribeye was $42, plus $4.75 for pepper sauce, plus salad to share. Would be okay if service was faultless, but a few simple
improvements are needed.
We didn't make any booking thinking it was a Monday night but the place was booked out and fortunately for us, the amazing guy at the counter manage to get us a table. Ordered the eye fillet as well as the beef sausage for entrée. The sausage was good and bursting with flavors from the juices that overflows the sausage as we cut into it. The eye fillet steaks we done according to our request and they tasted good but not fantastic. The quality of the meat was above average but for the price we paid, I think we could get a better quality meat elsewhere. The prawns that came with my steak were also good. No complains overall and service was really good for a busy night. Those guys really know how to put on a smile for their customers.
There can be no doubt the steaks at Squires are nothing short of fabulous, but so are the prices and they ask you to pay for an accompanying sauce which could be seen as gouging by some. Having said that all 'round quality of Squires Loft warrants an encore sooner, rather than later...
Cant believe how low the ratings for this restaurant are! This place have great service always friendly and welcoming!
On our last occasion here, they gave us bread and butter and once we demolished that (we were quite hungry) they asked us if we wanted more, which we've never had offered at other squires lofts, safe to say we were quite in awe.

This was my bestie's treat to us on the last night in Melbourne and the first time in my life i finished an entire steak without putting the knife down once. We had ribeye and t-bone steak with mushroom sauce and greek salad and oh my god, my mouth was in for a serious treat. For four of us the total came around $130 or something (without drinks).
Came here with husband and child (youth) , we will be back, service was great, prompt, efficient, friendly and the food was great also. We had steak which was cooked to our specifications, son was over the moon with the ribs, ambience of Art Deco location was very nice indeed!

Food was delish and cooked really well. My partner is a big meat eater and he was super impressed with the Black Angus Rib Eye - super tender and full of flavour. I had the T-Bone steak which was really tasty.

Well priced with generous portions. Seems like an attempt to replicate the U.S. Chain, Ruth's Chris. Good flavour in each meat dish but not exceptional. Would go back as its good for group meals and has very friendly staff/service.
Tried Squires Loft essendon this evening as our previous favourite in Goldie Place has changed hands (and menus). Eye fillet steak was great as was chicken, good size servings and definitely will be going back

Lip smackin...pork ribs, steak...my favourites at squires loft..first time at their Essendon branch...food maintains the same quality as their other outlets...deserts were simple but awesome...overall food was amazing.....only negative I felt, was their decor, could be better....something to improve the culinary experience...in a pricey joint like squires, you definitely don't want want a run down cafe feel...ambience is as important as food....
