Not sure about the food but they have an amazing singers on Friday night and the people in the bar are fantastic i had the best night in ages petty it closed so early stupid lock out laws destroying Australia they will not be satisfied we are already the laughing stock of the planet in most countries because of Sydney now Melbourne is following suit so stupid and backwards ...

Came here a few months ago and just remembered to post a review. Great service and nice atmosphere. Wide array of drinks to choose from. Had corn fritters, soft shell crab sliders and vegetarian spring rolls for our entrees. They were all beautifully crafted with a perfect balance of flavours. For mains we chose the pork belly which was surprisingly plain and Vietnamese beef salad. The beef was tender and had a pleasant flavour. I'll definitely come back. Good job guys.
great food and service - modern and casual. The chef is to be extolled for his creative blending of flavours and textures. Each course was mouthwatering and the ambience was restrained elegance. We look forward to returning.

Pretty restaurant in the old Irish pub building. Menu is short but sweet with the bulk of the menu being of Thai origin. My husband and I had the pork belly, sadly we both had a different experience, whilst both of the accompanying salads were delicious my pork was overcooked and the crackling was more rubbery that crackling. Hubby's on the other hand was maoist meat with crunchy crackling. Mum and Dad had the Masaman curry and duck red curry that both came with a side of rice.
There were 3 deserts on the menu, one of which was icecream with icemagic. Of the remaining 2 deserts, they had none of the coconut tapioca left which was highly disappointing.
Service was also very slow.

Saturday night and the 4 of us decided we wanted to try a bit of everything on our first visit to Ginger Annie and the Chef's Banquet seemed to fit the bill. Started with the appetisers, the sesame rice crackers with lemongrass chilli jam with and Betel leaf ocean trout both with loads of flavour. Next the starters comprising of Crispy Pork Belly Salad and the Prawn and Pork Dumplings and even though the Crispy Pork Belly salad was missing its crisp (unsure if the noodles were suppose of be the crisp element or the Pork was meant to have crackling but No Crisp!) and one of the dumplings had broken open, regardless of these minor hiccups both dishes were full of flavour and the Pork Belly salad danced on ones lips with its chilli hit. Both those dishes alone filled the spot but we still had mains to tackle. Mains arrived comprising of Half Chicken Ginger Soy and the Beef Massaman curry. The Chicken Ginger Soy was served on the bone & was pan seared and succulent and even though the Beef Massaman Curry was very mild in comparison to the other dishes, the meat was so tender and just melted in the mouth. The last course was coconut ice cream and ice-magic with peanut-sesame salt. After the flavour explosion of the generous sized dishes already devoured, this course was underwhelming due to its small portion and the missing peanut-sesame salt. One scoop of ice-cream is enough but needs to be a tad larger to cool the palette. All in all a great night and all agreed a very generous and delicious banquet, will be back. So much food and it's a shame that half of our curry has ended up in landfill as the restaurant has a policy of not allowing uneaten food to be taken home, though I'm sure there are health reasons for this but it's a risk we were prepared to take.
This is a favourite of mine, great vibe and venue for a catch up drink and some small nibbles. Eggplant chips and betel leaves are a necrssity for a catch up and great finger food.
This place is really good..betel leaves are spot on..Chicken salad is authentic and zingy, dumplings reminded me of Chinatown in Bangkok, the yellow chicken ribs are awesome..perfect beer food..nice one guys.. we will be back
Given we have plenty of choice these days Ginger Annie is one of my current choices. It is a drive for me to get there but go because the young gun chefs coupled with the lovely staff and happening decor makes the experience worth the drive. The new menu is authentic, spicy and delicious coupled with a wine list that spans California, New Zealand and Australia. Congratulations to the staff!
Fantastic service , delicious eggplant chips and witty waiters which kept our glasses plentiful with wine. We ordered up quite a feast, each portion was generous and green tofu curry had a nice touch with coconut rice. Will definitely be coming through again :)
Have been in a few times now. Went in a couple of weeks ago and things had improved immensely! I live in Sydney now but have friends around this area so they insisted we go back.
Food: presentation and overall taste was a huge improvement. Had the duck spring rolls for entree and crab curry for main. Both were delicious though I expected a bit more spice from the curry.
Atmosphere: a big step up here too - the jazz/funk they were playing this time created a lot more energy and atmosphere than the generic pop playing a few months back, and made it feel a bit more trendy.
Service: very friendly, approachable staff and were always accommodating.
Only criticism is that the food prices are probably a bit too much for what you get but the bar menu is well priced and good range.

Really enjoyed our dinner last night, the food was absolutely delicious & authentic. So good, that I've been daydreaming about it all day. They needed more wait staff as the girls (who were lovely though) were very busy & once the restaurant filled service took a bit too long. Nice selection of wines & beers. This place will be a regular for us. 👍🏻
Great venue for a party with friends. The finger food was absolutely delicious and interesting (eggplant chips), the staff super friendly and the atmosphere was great with live music all night. Highly recommend it!

Absolutely Brilliant :) spent Mothers Day here with my daughter :) couldn't have asked for a nicer gift ! Had the duck Spring Rols Perfect Homemade and Delicious ! Accompanied by the the Dumplings :) superb . Main we shared a beautiful Beef Massaman curry and Pork Belly with Vietnamese Salad . So clean refreshing . Now our desert has arrived Am so excited . Absolutely amazing! Have been here quite a few times with the family and they certainly never disappoint. The place has a really good vibe to it, a really modern and chic place with an Asian twist, i especially love the amazing graffiti art that decorates the walls. The service there is spectacular, extremely friendly staff, the food took probably half an hour to come out but was well worth the wait and because of the awesome atmosphere seemed not long at all. love how there are lots of options for seating, not just outdoor and indoor but open floor, booths, and even up on the stage like we have sat before, which offers a sliding screen door if you want privacy, something that would be grat for larger groups. the food itself is truly spectacular and I can find nothing as good or authentic anywhere close to home. the chefs have done a spectacular job, which I would expect as I have heard they previously worked at a high-class restaurant in Crown! the food is very true Asian food with an amazing variety. I especially love the crab and the pork dishes. It is very well priced, around $30 per dish, but one dish easily splits between two people as a full meal. There is so much variety on the menu and it seems so special and unique and my family is sure to keep coming here again and again!
The service here was amazing. They mixed up our order but swapped it without a drama. We had the duck spring rolls, pulled pork pancake with nim jam and the dry red curry soft shell crab. Everything was delicious. We will be back for sure.
Had dinner at Ginger Annie tonight. We ordered Massaman curry, crispy summer chicken with papaya salad and the beer battered Rockling fish with salad. The food was amazing! The chicken and the fish were moist and full of flavours. The staff are friendly, energetic and know the menu. Our meals surpassed our expectations! Hence, I had to review Ginger Annie as soon as I got home. What a comfortable and cozy restaurant. They make Essendon proud ! All I wanted is yummy food, comfortable seats and to be looked after by the staff. Tick tick tick... so it gets a 5 star rating from me.
Tried the new banquet menu at Ginger Annie last night and it didn't disappoint! Superb selection of beautiful dishes, well presented and lovely staff. Dessert was a winner, with selection of items including a rich peanut butter semifreddo, deconstructed lemon tart, shortbread & meringue. It was awesome! Would highly recommend giving it a try. Live music on a Fri night now too, so a great alternative to some of the other local venues🍾
What a wonderful dinner!! We ordered the feast and each dish that came out was absolutely mouth watering. Wonderful atmosphere throughout the restaurant as well. Would definitely recommend to friends and make it a regular dining place for myself too!
Loved the wine selection, food was spectacular, all up a great experience would diffiently be returning !! Highly recommend the five spiced egg .

We have dined here several times and Absolutely love it. It is the best thing to happen to Moonee Valley dining in a long time. Our dining has been a mix of family meals, entertaining clients and socially with friends. The food is sensational you wouldn't get better anywhere else in Melbourne. Not one dish has disappointed- mains, entrees and dessert. The service and atmosphere rounds out the experience with management and staff always friendly and quick to attend to your needs. Every client has been blown away by the quality of the food and the point of difference in being able to relax in the front bar before or after the meal. You would be mad not to try it.
I've been back to Ginger Annie's three times since it opened late last year. I've really loved the food and the overall feel of the newly renovated restaurant. It's hard to pick a favourite dish but I loved the Chicken Salad and Duck Curry...both really delicious. If you are in Essendon give it a try.

Great food, wine and beer, really the best wine bar around. The food had an Asian theme, and plates can be made to share. My partner and I drop by weekly for food or any time we want a nice atmosphere for a drink.
This place is not to be missed. Beautiful décor. Great place to go for a drink or a catch up with friends. My favourites were Sautéed pork with chilli, garlic, lemongrass - to die for and Massaman beef curry. Worth a visit.......
This place has plenty of potential ....recently renovated (used to be O'Sullivans) modern decor , great wine and beer selection and plenty of options on the menu. Try it ....I think you will impressed!!
Essendon has been crying out for a venue like this. I visited in the first week and was happy to see that it didn't disappoint. The building has been transformed into a chic, hip looking bar and restaurant that when full will be buzzing with atmosphere. The food was delicious and I liked the fact the menu offered small and large sharing plates. We tried dumplings, rice paper rolls, chicken satays, and Massaman beef curry. Tasty, delicious food that didn't disappoint at all. We will return that's for sure.
